Abap+java abap-user and portal-role PROBLEM?? help

We have the ABAP+java add-on install.
The UME is by default ABAP engine.
From Portal:
1 I create a portal user, it ALWAYS creates ABAP user in ABAP engine.
2. I create a portal role, it creates a role in the Portal.
3. When I assign the user this portal role,
having worksets and pages,
I get no pages or worksets shown in the portal page as soon
user logs in.
Can you help configure this so that I could see the pages and iviews inside this workset when user logs in.

Hi Mike,
You did right,
Just check the Entry Point Property of your iView, page and workset to YES
there are two radio buttons yes and no select the yes one,
you can see your pages afte rlogin with the new user.

do you know if there is a bapi or a RFC module function to do that ?
For example : the user CCDEMO (exists in EP and in R/3 backend) has a Buyer Portal role. In an abap program, I would like to have this information.

I am looking at the newer EhP5 and EhP6 functionality for ESS and MSS, specifically the WD ABAP portal applications. I've turned on all the business functions and services I think our team wants, however I'm confused on how to move forward in using them. For a little tech info, we are on EhP6 for the backend, but our portal is 7.02.
My first step was to assign the com.sap.pct.erp.ess.wda.Employee_Self_Service_WDA portal role to our test ESS user group in our sandbox environment. The ESS user got a new ESS tab in the portal and it's linked to the Launchpad role ESS, Instance MENU. I'm comfortable with ESS at this point, still need to learn more about customizing the menu for different employee groups without creating additional Launchpad or SAP roles.
Question 1: Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the Launchpad roll ESS, instance menu linked to the PFCG role SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_WDA_2?
Next, I was looking to see if there was a similar portal role for MSS, but it seems I can't find one. I implemented the MSS Addon 1.0 for ABAP and the portal and got a new MSS portal addon role, but it doesn't seem to be connected to any MSS Launchpad role.
Question 2: Is there a portal role to assign to users/groups that is linked to one of the MSS Launchpad roles? If yes, what business function or service is it a part of?
I'd like to use of the existing MSS Launchpad role to test some of the new portal functionality, but I'm not sure how to do it.
Question 3: How is a Launchpad role assigned to a SAP role in PFCG? Anyone have some documentation they can point me too?

For now I have a very good understanding of how the new ESS is controlled and modified.
It appears that FPM_LAUNCHPAD_UIBB could be used to develop a similar component to call a custom launchpad role for MSS containing a customized list of WDA applications.
Is a MSS Launchpad a good way to pursue since we use a SAP enterprise portal?
I found a PAOC_MSS package containing other MSS embedded packages.
Could I use one of the embedded packages in there and by creating a Component configuration in the FPM_LAUNCHPAD_UIBB for one of the MSS WD applications?
Based on the documentation link above, PFCG roles are for NWBC HTML or Desktop versions.

Search Portal Roles problem

Hi,
I have a problem enabling the portal roles search. I have followed this guide:

The problem is that when i enable the portalRolesSearch in the index managemant service search does not work at all. I get the following error when trying to search:
Error during search occurred - com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException
Does anyone know what the problem might be?

What is the difference b//w R/3 user and Portal user in ESS/MSS

You dont need to create ESS users seperately in portal. It can be created in R/3 like any other user ids. By using R/3 User management engine in Portal, you will get all R/3 users there as well. so no need to create seperate users in portal. When you login to portal, you are also logging into R/3 using SSO tickets.
To make use of HR functionality, user ids have to be mapped to Personnel no. in Infotype 105 subtype 0001.

with these unqualified (not prefixed to be specific to this portlet instance) parameter names, you will have to update your provider.xml file to set the <passAllUrlParams> to true.

Help needed with Java 1.4 and xml Runtime problem

I am working on a java 1.3 and JAXP1.1 written code. Now I want to compile and run it using J2SE 1.4. Here are the import statements from the existing code.

When I run the existing(using java 1.3 and Jaxp1.1) code I have to include the files crimson.jar and jaxp.jar in the windows 2000 CLASSPATH and works fine.
But when I compile and run it using J2SE 1.4 which has the built in support for the saxp, I thought that I don't have to specify any CLASSPATH for the new 1.4 so I don't specify any Classpath and it gives me the Microsoft "ClassFactory cannot find the requested class" error which means that even thought the new java 1.4 has the xml classes as libraries yet it still requies some .jar files to be listed in the CLASSPATH.
If I am right then what path will work(i.e what jar class I need to add to the CLASSPATH).

I think I didn't specify when the error occurs. The ClassFactory related error occurs when I run the program, it compiles without any error.
From what I understood somewhere in the java 1.4 docs, that the new 1.4 has the xml libraries built in by default so one doesn't need to give the classpaths just like we don't give any CLASSPATH for using swing and many of the other java packages. That is one thing.
Second thing is that I also tried to use the java_xml_pack-spring02 and java_xml_pack-summer02; but non of them include the crimson.jar and the jaxp.jar files in them which are the 2 .jar files that makes the program run fine when used under the java 1.3 with combination of the jaxp1.1(which was downloaded seperately and then the CLASSPATH for it was set.).
Can you please help what .jar files do I need to use instead. I tried to use the ones that the new java_xml_pack-spring02 and java_xml_pack-summer02 has for the jaxp in them.

Authschemes and portal / iviews - need help

I am aware that when I logon to the SAP portal, normally due to authschemes.xml configuration the default authscheme is used to authenticate the user (which uses the ticket auth template). I am interested to know if it is possible to configure the portal so that by entering a different url, I can use a new iview, and the iview will specify a non-default authscheme. This would allow me to logon using one method by entering the normal portal login URL and by another auth method by entering a different URL.
From what I understand about iviews (not much) I think this is possible, but I don't know for sure, and how to make it work. Can you help ?

Sorry, but I am now very confused. I was under the impression that authschemes were configured in authschemes.xml and available for use in any J2EE authentication requirement, not just for portals. I have seen references before to using authschemes for non-portal login, and can see nothing which is portal specific.
My understanding of what you said before is :
1. user accesses portal
2. portal login page redirects to our servlet, which may ask the user some questions or give them options before deciding what type of authentication to use.
3. our servlet triggers the authentication via UME API
4. The auth stack is processed based on the authscheme name given in UME API, and CreateTicketLoginModule will be used to issue an SSO2 ticket for SSO purposes.
5. The servlet will then redirect back to the portal page and the SSO2 ticket in browser will allow the logon to complete.
Is the above what you were suggesting, or if not, can you help me understand where I am getting this confused/wrong ?
The part we are having problems with is step 3 where we are unable to pass the authscheme we want to use as a parameter.

Itunes and Mac Pro Problem -- Help Please

Having a really strange problem and could use some help.
I've got a Mac Pro with my wife's Ipod attached. Updating songs on the Ipod has become very, very slow. Literally, it's taking hours to move over a couple of albums.
Just out of curiousity, I hooked it up to a Macbook Pro in the house and everything was just fine. Tried reinstalling itunes on the Mac Pro and it didn't do it the trick.
All machines are intel based. Other peripherals are working fine.

I got render and RAM preview problems. help?

i got render and RAM preview problems with after effects! please help me
when i started on a project earlier today the RAM preview was failing and it stoped making a preview after about a second, when i hit the RAM preview buttom again it continued to load and stoped again after a half second, and it continued to do that till it wasn't loading at all, just playing the same thing up even doe it haden't loaded the whole composition! BUT if i moved the (thing you see where you are on the timeline in need of a better name) it started loading a little more and then it stoped again.. so after alot of problems and moving i managed to make a RAM preview of the whole composition..
now the real problem: when i was done with my project and i was going to reender i did like this: i added my composition to the render queue, chosed my render settings and started to render, after exactly 37 frames it stoped and no window or anything poped up, the only thing that was telling me something was wrong was the render status, and it said: ''failed at 0;00;00;37'' that's not even a second! and BTW when i render after effects only uses 12% of my 6GB RAM memory.. i dont know what to do! i've tried other render settings but the same thing happens! can anyone help me?
BTW i'm swedish and only 14 so i might misspelled something..

What are your Memory & Multiprocessing settings? Are you using Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously multiprocessing?

WebDynpro ABAP and Portal Navigation problem

Hi all,
I've a problem with triggering Portal navigation from a custom WD4A application.
The request is to have an "Exit" button implemented and if pressed, the portal goes back to the top page:
--> Search
   --> Kind of Search
      --> WD4A -> Exit goes back to "Search"
I've tried using absolute_navigation/relative_navigation methods from interface if_wd_portal_integration, but they do not work at all.
It seems that the portal totally doesn't care about the request and remains still.
Methods are called passing the PCD of the "Search" page (i've tried even with the ROLES).
Anyone has an idea?
By the way, I was thinking about raising some kind of "standard" event like "navigate" or something...I don't know if it's applicable.

Hi,
If you are navigating from one WD Application to another you can either use URL or Object Based Navigation.
In URL Method you can call the target application from the source application.
You can create the method in the Window of WD Component.
You also need to create exit plug (outbound) with parameter url (type string) and specify the plug type as Suspend.
Trigger this method as desired by you in your application.
