ABAP new Editor problem

Hi,
Whenever i want to activate the New ABAP Editor, the SE38 always hangs. So i have to change it back to Old Editor to open Se38. How can i open se38 in new editor??
current sap version ECC 6.0
SAP GUI Release is 710 Final Release
Patch level 0
Plz help...

I had the same issue and realized that some of my colleagues could display the programs. I was convinced that it had to be authorisations because all auths was taken away the previous day and then reinstated for post go-live support.
However - I scratched around and found that if you switch back to the old editor I can view the code (that is the workaround). I then asked the SAP security manager to look into my profiles and something she did enabled me to switch back to the new editor. Here is in her words how she fixed it - "It was a profiles thing"... Afraid not of much help but might give you a starting point. In the mean time you can use the workaround
Bottom line is that it is an authorisations issue.

ABAP New editor issue

Hi All,
I am not able to open programs in New Editor.
Recently I have reinstalled Win XP on my system. I have IE6 and SAP GUI 7.10.
I am not able to switch to New Editor where as it works fine for Old Editor.
I have uninstalled and Reinstalled SAP GUI twice but still its not working.
I also have reinstalled msxml6_x86 as read in some posts.
Please suggest some solution.

try to install or upgrade java virtual machine.
or need to remove and reinstall sap gui
remove all content including registry,user setting folder from documents and setting
and all..
finally...re download latest gui from web site.

SAP 720 - Use New Editor Problem

Hello Experts;
Today I installed sap gui 720 on my computer. I want to use special development properties at SAP when abap development. For example : Bold Select statement or case-when macros or yellow break-point etc.
But Now I'm not using new abap editor. I uploaded sap 720 4.patch and installed my computer. But nothing didnt change.
What will I do?

have you activated the new ABAP Editor? You can do this in SE80 via Utilities --> Settings --> ABAP Editor --> Editor. There you have to activate the radiobutton "Front End Editor (new)"

Anybody knows where is the new ABAP Editor?
As I know, it should be included but I cannot see it...
I'm using the SAPgui 640 Final Release - Patch 8.

i am not sure whether it was there in patch 8, but i upgraded to patch14 and activated the new editor from
se38->utilities->settings->ABAP editor
here choose radiobutton front-end Editor (New)
warning:- dont apply gui patch 15 it has got some problem. when i applied patch 15 i couldnt event start the sap logon pad.

ABAP New Front-end editor not opening in Windows 7

Hi ,
When I am trying to open a report with the ABAP New Front-End Editor with Windows 7 as OS, the system is getting freezed without navigating to any other screen .The SAP GUI that I am using is Release 710 with Patch level 17.
Please help me to sort out the problem

ECC6 ABAP Front-end editor Problem

hi all,
We are using ECC 6. when we switch to old editor form setting options it works fine but when we switch to New editor it hangs itis not opening.
Latest Patch is also installed.
Pls suggest what is the problem........how to rectify it...

Try logging in your pc as Administrator.
Then log in to SAP and try the Fron-End editor New option.
Hope it works for you. I had the same problem and logging in my pc as Administrator solved the problem.

New front end editor problem

I'm quite new on this forum, so don't be so angry if I'm asking about something that someone else was asking for, by i didn't found answer on my question.
So...
In my company, administrator made some updates in 4.7, after that updates new front end editor is avalible (this with code colorin, code hinting, code folding etc).
But I have some problem with keyboard mapping scheme. When i try to save my own setting or change keymapping to another one, SAP stop responding (it's not a crash with short dump but simple aplication freezing). I tried to find some solution to this behaviour but I didn't found it yet.
My question is:
1) Did someone else have the same behaviour as I?
2) Where to find SAP notes about front end editor?

Keymapping settings in file:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\ab4_data\keymap.xml
You should also check the following dir:
c:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SapGui\ab4_data\
During patch installation this dir is overwritten, and during the first use of the new editor, the files from here copied to the <username>\ab4_data dir, where you can change them.
Might be permission problem, I can imagine, that if you have no authorization to change these files, the GUI starts hanging or chrashing.

Problem using new editor

Hi people! I hava a strange issue in my machine. I'm currently using SapGUI 710 patch level 7 in my PC. I'm trying to use the new editor, but when I set it and try to open any source codes in SE38 or in SE80 (source codes editor in general) the SapGUI freezes and the only way to get off this, is endind SapLogon with a right click on tray of windows.
Anyone already seen this? If I use the new editor in other machine with the same SapGUI and same server, its works fine...this problem is specific to my machine...

I encountered the same problem last week in upgrading from 710 Patch 5 to 710 Patch 9. Uninstalling and applying a previous patch to the last one you installed will fail also. Incidentally prior to installing Patch 9, I was happily editing source code in the new editor.
This is how I managed to resolve it:
Had a look around the net and found information on SAPSWEEP.EXE (created by SAP themselves). Used SAPSWEEP.EXE from the setup folder of SAP GUI 640 - this will remove Registry entries and files if you tell it too. I cleared everything at first. If you use this, pull the network cable on the machine in question just in case. It detected a SAP GUI setup I had copied to my Temp folder in case I lost network access, and did think about removing that however I stopped the program running at that point. So it may (I don't know as I did not want it to check the Network drives) delete install instances if you are not careful.
I then removed the following folders (due to the failed uninstall earlier):
C:\Program Files\SAP
C:\Program Files\Common\SAP Shared
C:\Documents and Settings\<my userid>\SapWorkDir
C;\Documents and Settings\<my userid>\Local Settings\Temp (all files removed)
Rebooted laptop.
Re-installed SAP GUI 710 Patch 0. Editing code worked at this point.
Re-installed SAP GUI 710 Patch 9 and still able to edit the code.
I believe my problem came about after a possible corruption involving LIBRFC32.DLL, but I then also lost network connectivity and the ability to acquire a DHCP delivered IP Address. I understand that in 710 the RFC methods have been enhanced, plus MS recompiled the LIBRFC32.DLL using Visual Studio 2005 (rather than .NET 2003).
I have not upgraded to Patch 10 (corporately we are evaluating Patch 9 for release).

New Editor typing buffer problem

I frequently run into a problem when using the New Editor.
The screen frequently lags behind what I'm typing for several seconds.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Are there any settings I need to make?

I don't know on which version you are running but I had a similar problem after installing 710. But there is a patch available that solved it. Check with your basis team, if they can download the patch and provide it to you.

Forward navigation does not work in the Front-end new editor

I just upgraded my GUI to 7.20 Patch level 3 (highest available), and when I use the new Front-end editor, the forward navigation by double clicking does not seem to work. When I double click on a perform statement, the editor takes me to the sub-routine. However, when I double click on a perform on the sub-routine, it goes back to the first one. I saw the following thread

and still does not show any solution. It does work when I switch to the Old Front-end editor.
Any thought or solution, other than switching to Old Front-end editor.

Thanks for the response. But it is not the issue. I found the problem. This is a system issue and has been fixed in SP19. There is an OSS Note 1279209 that explains the problem and the solution, if you are interested.

Regular Expressions in the new editor

Hi,
we just ubgraded to SAP GUI 6.40 and ERP 2005, when i hit ctrl-h the search and replace dialog is popping up in the new editor. But the checkbox "regular expression" is greyed out and cant be activated. Why?

Hi, I can only confirm that. The help indicates that it should work, but on the screencaps, it's grayed out too.
Besides that,
Open completion automatically after is not implemented yet (is mentioned in the help).
There are also problems with the incremental search backwards. It works only once.

How to activate New Editor for XSLT Transformations?

Hello Everyone!
I am currentlyworking on some Simple Transformations (Txn STRANS). As I am very happy with the New Frontend Editor, I would like to use the new Editor for editing Simple Transformations, like I do, when editing usual ABAP Code.
Where can I activate the New Editor fpr XSLT Programs? I have already set the Flag to use the new editor when editing ABAP Code, but this Flag unfortunately has to influence on the editor used for XSLT programs... ;-(
