Hi, All:
I encountered a strange problem of display by Adobe Reader.
The checkBox issue, I set the check style to a Check Mark.
In normal, It is Okay to show at Adobe reader.
But, something wrong happened ,the Check Mark changed to a number "4" at reader.
Did anyone ever see that? Any idea?

It could be a result of font substitution which is influenced by a number of factors including:
1. OS
2. OS language
3. OS code page
4. character encoding associated with the code page
5. fonts on the host
6. Designer font definition for the CheckBox value
7. Designer font and character mapping definition
8. Designer font substitution rules
Take a look at
1. Validate font embedding is enabled in Designer (see File > Form Properties > Save Options > Embed Font)
2. The font used in the CheckBox value (as opposed to the caption).
3. Check font substitution rule for that font. Go to Tools > Options and see 'Modify Font Substitutions'
4. Enable 'Show Missing Fonts dialog box...'
5. Test the form on the host where the issue occurred.
If the font is not available on the host, you could change the CheckBox value font to a font distributed with the host. On Windows, Arial is probably a good choice.

Unable to check mark whole playlists to play since last update. ONly allows me to check one at a time. How do I fix?

While in MY MUSIC on itunes, all my music is unchecked. I can not check whole playlists by using the top checkmark to select all. I went to all my playlists, same thing. I can only press them ONE at a time, which will take about a day to check all of them.
any ideas? anyone have same problem? This just happened since last update.

Make a check box in LiveCycle with a personal character or image as check mark ( info to share...)

Hello everybody,
It makes now several weeks i go trough the different forums to find a way to make the check mark of a check box in LiveCycle with a personal color instead of the default black mark, that seems to be the only option available.
I saw somebody else with that question, but no answer.
So i found a work around, that make the check box really flexible.
Here it is:
REMEMBER that this will work only with forms saved as dynamic PDF.
Open a new form in Livecycle.
1) Open Library panel ( Shift+F12) and select Check Box and put it in the page with the dimension and position you like and select it.
Open the Object panel ( Shift+F7), select field section and under Caption make it blank. Select Binding Section and under name write in ' CheckBox '. for the rest leave all the section values as they are.
2) In Library select, in the standard section, the icon for making a text object. Put it in the page and size it to your needs and put it on the top of the CheckBox. Select it.
In the Object Panel, Draw section and under Presence 'Visible'.
Open the Font panel ( Shift+F4) and under font section, Font : select the Wingdings font and choose the symbol to use as the mark, under Size : the size you need, under Style: font color you like. If the result of the mark is to your feel, set the object to 'invisible'. Leave all other values as they are.
Open the Hierarchy panel (Shift+F11), right click on the static object and rename it to ' CheckMarkModel ' .
For information : changing the text object to an image object let's you use an image for the mark in the checkbox.
3) In Library, select in the standard section the icon for making a Button. Put it in the page and size it to the CheckBox dimension and put it on the top of the text object. Select it. In the Object panel, under Caption : make it blank, under Appearance : select custom in the drop down list an in the dialog box that comes up set the edges to none and the
background to none. Leave the rest as it is.
Open the Hierarchy panel (Shift+F11), right click on the Button object and rename it to ' ClickCheckBoxButton ' .
Now open the Script Editor (Shift+Ctrl+F5), on the left under Show : select in the list the ' Click ' event, under Language : select JavaScript, copy to the window the following script :

CheckMarkModel.presence = "visible";
else if (CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue == "1")
CheckMarkModel.presence = "invisible";

4)Now put in the page an other Check Box, put it on the top of the Button object and select it. In the Object panel, Field section, under Caption : make it blank, under Appearance : none, under Presence : invisible, let the rest as it is. In the Value section, under Type : Read Only, under Default : Off. In the Binding section, under Name : name it CheckMarkOnOff, leave the rest as it is.
5) So you have now four objects in the page 1. In the Hierarchy panel set each object by dragging them in
this order :
CheckBox
CheckMarkModel
ClickCheckBoxButton
CheckMarkOnOff
In the form select all the objects and group them. If you copy the group as many times you need you automatically will have an other Check Box, ready to work.
So here you are with an personal Check Box.
Don't forget to set the preview PDF to dynamic under Menu /File/Form Properties, the in the dialog box that shows up /Default tab and under the XDP Preview format : select in the list an Acrobat Dynamic form.
REMEMBER that this will work only with forms saved as dynamic PDF.

I also faced this same problem and there is an actual solution but it involves modifying the xml source for the checkbox - however it is a simple modification so if your not familiar with editing the xml source don't worry about that. Click on the checkbox you want to modify and then click on the XML Source tab. LiveCycle will take you to that point in the XML. Now, scroll down until the close of the ui node( </ui> )within the checkbox field and modify the font node to look like the following: </ui> -- close of UI node <fill> <color value="0,0,255"/> </fill> This produces a checkbox with a blue check mark. You can, of course, make the color any RGB number you want. You can then save that field in your library and reuse it anytime you want and it will always have that color checkmark. Why does apple make this so difficult. I just want to know what the check mark column means in the song "window" of itunes 11. How does it relate to iCloud? When I click on a song, it disappears.

under usage-i only have the camera roll, photo library and photostream-they don't show the individual albums withing my libraries-if i delete library-i would delete about 12 albums
I don't sync pics but was hoping the albums showed up there. It was a long shot.

Necessary to see green check-mark (Update Successful) during Airport Firmware Update?

I had just taken the leap of faith and decided to update my current workhorse Airport Extreme to 7.6.1 fro 7.6.
It downloaded and ran successfully all the way to the rebooting of the router. However, the computer I was running my Airport Utility on did not seem to find and connect back to the rebooted router fast enough and the Utility said "No Airport Detected" - so it did not show me the "green check-mark" update succesful page that I was normally used to.
But I was able to restart the Utility again, and connect to it to see if running on 7.6.1. All seems to be well...
However - being the completionist that I am, it bothered me I never got to see this "green check-mark" page. I was wondering if not seeing that confirmation page really mattered in this firmware upgrade - whether I saw it or not in the first place, and whether not seeing it could corrupt or mess up my update process that I did not know about? As long as I see my router showing 7.6.1 after the reboot - I should be fine right?

Check marks and question marks all over my icons

Hello!
Sometime in the last few days I've noticed that a bunch of the icons in my Finder have strange little question marks and check marks on them. I first noticed a check mark on the icon for the hard drive, but when I looked closer they turned out to be everywhere! here's a screen shot of what they look like:

What on earth are they about?! Any ideas? They kind of bug me, to be honest.

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore is not, in itself, a solution.
First, empty the Trash, if possible.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.
The output of the command will be a number. It's automatically copied to the Clipboard. Please paste it into a reply.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

Check marks on the users show on my Skype

I am wondering why I sometime can't get connected when I notice that there are check marks on the person or persons whom I want to call? Skype says they are online, is that true that they are online with someone else and cannot get connected with me and this check is just lettng me know they are online but there was no busy message, just says no answer? Please advise. Thank you.

Yes, particularly if the person you are trying to call chose not to set up voice mail and also did not reject the incoming call.

I have an iphone 3gs, when I try to connect to my home wi-fi the phone goes thru the motions, finds the network but can't lock it in. The check mark next to the network flashes a few times then the phone goes serching again and the same thing happens.

The check mark flashes a few times then the phone tries again to connect. This only happens with my home wi-fi. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem. I have re-booted the phone and the router without any luck.

SOLUTION!
I've been suffering from this problem for a few months. I tried everything suggested by everyone, and then, today, I had a mad idea.
I used to work in a room in the house that's about 12 metres away from the router. It's on the next storey up and horizontally about 8 metres away. The problem started when I began to work in the same room as the router.
Today I became so frustrated that for some reason I walked into a room about 8 metres away on the same level - Guess what? I connected with no problem at all. Feeling full of joy I walked back to the room where the router is located - Dropped internet connection within a few minutes! Walked back to the the room that's 8 metres away and, hey presto! I have a connection. I now realise that the problem was that I moved too close to the router.
I can think of no logical explanation for my experience, but empirically it seems to work. Does anyone have the faintest idea of why this should be the case? In the absence of an answer I think I may have to start believing in fairies at the bottom of the garden - I'm just off to set a meal for them.
By the way, I don't know if it has any significance, but the router is a BT Infinity router that has replaced the incredibly unreliable Virgin Media cable connection

I've continued tests on different films, and tried my entire collection. I've found about two dozen that will play fine on the PC, but will not cooperate when streamed to either Apple TV or my iPad. I tried several more tests with the audio, and that turned out not to be a factor -- I could not replicate that on another test.
I wonder if something in the header of these files is corrupted or a flag is set incorrectly or something along those lines, as the data appears to be fine -- it's just not "handshaking" with my streaming hardware and/or the Apple Home Sharing code that powers it.
Is there any way for me to "scrub" these files and amend their headers, or get into the file and tinker with that info by hand?

cant find this answer anywhere. in the movie or tv show window, second column from the left shows a check mark at the column top, and some shows/movies have a check and others do not. what does the check mark mean?

thats what I thought, but the check marks Im talking about are on the library pages. I check the items to sync on the Ipad interface. Are you saying the items not checked will not be available to sync in the Ipad interface? In other words, if I dont check it in the library interface, I cannot sync it in the ipad interface? Right now, nearly everything in my library has a check mark, but I'm certainly not syncing my whole library.

Ok so I've done what you said and this is what it's come back ....
I don't know that these are the errors , but they're the things which don't look right ...
Throughout the shut down there is a recurring line ;
It says ;
Com.apple.launchd 1 0x100600e70.anonymous.unmount 301 PID still valid
Then there are 2 more which I think are related ;
Com.apple.securityd 29 PID job has I overstayed its welcome , forcing removal.
Then the same with fseventd 48 and diskarbitrationd 13
Oh and on Launchd1 : System : stray anonymous job at shut down : PID 301 PPID13 PGID 13 unmount...
Then the last process says "about to call: reboot (RB_AUTOBOOT).
Continuing...
And stops ...

The default Acrobat check marks are too tiny

The question is about the check marks contained inside square radio buttons. I need them to be at least twice as large.
Is this something that can be done with JavaScript?
I would like to increase the size of the check marks, without increasing the enclosing boxes.

If you have "Sync only checked items" selected in your iPod sync settings, unchecked songs will not sync. Also, unchecked songs will not play unless you specifically select them and press play. So, if you have a playlist with unchecked songs in it and you play the playlist, iTunes will skip the unchecked songs.
Mostly, I only use it to keep my holiday songs out of the way during the rest of the year. I don't find that unchecking songs alone is a useful tool in choosing what to sync to my iPods.

Check marks don't display after security update

I installed the most recent Security Update (2006-001) via Software Update, after which I noticed an odd behavior in iCal where my calendars and my To Dos both failed to display their check marks. I have repaired permissions, but that has not fixed the problem.
In fact, I'm a bit confused because it seems that iCal shouldn't have been affected by the update. It is possible that this is a result of the 10.4.5 update and I simply didn't notice earlier.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem or have an idea about how to solve it?

what has most likely happend is that LDAP is unable to access the open directory password key. The either can't be read,found, or accessed.
Since the update the old LDAP passwords can't be verified but can be reset.
There is most likely some mis-configuration mostly likely some how dns or permissions.

Installation of Adobe Reader XI using customization tool but looking to put two check marks in the signature bottom two options
called Validating Signatures and Validating Certified Documents.
Can't find it in the customization tool and don't want to change this on 650 workstations.
If I could change a registry key or change it in the installation it would help alot.

My first reply was empty because i responded to the email I received saying this thread (is that the right terminology?) was updated. Obviously that email didn't get added, just a blank line....
Then I replied to this thread directly on Friday and that seems to have disappeared. Maybe I just don't know how to use a computer? Better sell the technology company I own LOL.
Ok so it seems the screen is normal, (not maximized). When I unlock and drop my start bar to one row, then the top of the screen pops down to inside my visible monitor space and it is not maximized. This allows me to drag it to another monitor and then maximize it there, then put my start bar back and relock it. This is the only way I can move the window, if I don't shrink my start bar, then I have zero access to the top bars of the document!
Currently I can not reproduce the problem ( I might have temporarily fixed it with my start bar reducing and then moving documents), so maybe it is permanently fixed....
Maybe a reboot will bring the problem back... It has been intermittent for about 6 months.

You uncheck the music in your iTunes library on your computer and along with sync only checked songs and videos selected under the Summary selection for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, only checked songs in your iTunes library will be transferred to your iPhone or remain on your iPhone and the unchecked songs in your iTunes library that are currently on your iPhone will be removed when syncing.
Or make use of iTunes playlists and choose selected playlists, albums, artists under the Music selection for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and select the playlists below that you want transferred to your iPhone.
