About fiscal year

HI,
There is one query regarding fiscal year. In our report we made fiscal year variants as a compounding object in fiscal year info-object.
So that when we check data in report that with respect to fiscal year variant, data comes in different column.
Like if fiscal year variant is K4 and BW then there will be different column for some particular key-figure.
But i want these value in one column. It can be possible, if i remove compounding object (fiscal year variants ) from fiscal year,
but i can't do this becoz this fiscal year is used in other query also.
So can i create some different info-object for fiscal year in which fiscal year variants should not used as a compounding object.
But value of fiscal year  should come with respect to fiscal year variants.
Thanks
Devesh Babu

Hi,
Put Fiscal year variant in the rows. Now create a formula and add all key figures which display data for diff fisc variants, like KF1 might display data for K4, KF2 might display data for V3, etc. Add KF1 + KF2 in the formula and hide the individual KF. But you should have fisc variant in rows, otherwise the data would be wrongly added.

Murali.

  • Q1: Secondary Index. Q2: Fiscal Year /Period

    Hi gurus,
I have two questions need your explain:
Q1: To improve the query performance I am going to create some secondary indexes on an ODS, I am wondering whether this action will remove the data from the ODS therefore I have to reset the data loading process and if these indexes can be maintained while data loading automatically ?
Q2: About fiscal year /period which technical name is 0fiscper. we know in sales order header, item also purchase order and billing ODS or CUBEs, FY/Period are existed in those models. but there are still some other dates e.g. delivery date, goods issue date, goods recieve date, document date, posting date and so on. So which date is used to generate FY/Period ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
1)The creation of index have no effect on the data stored and you need not delete or relaod the data.
System will adjust the index with every data load to the DSO automatically.
2)Fiscal year period depeneds upon the module from which you are using the data and you can tweak the logic for this suit your need.
If the data source is providing the fiscal period values then well and good.
If not then generally its mapped to those dates which are driving date of the query or the date which is going to be used by the user for the input selections in the report.
for example if you want sales based on the posting date in the reports and user just wnt sale till month and not date then.......you map posting date to fiscal period in the transformation and use them in the reporting.
This can vary too...there is no hard fast rule for what date it should be mapped...and it all depends upon the reporting requirement
The good design practise is to fill it with the same date which is filling calday and calmonth objects. This will keep granuarlty as same...but if you want some other selection in the report then you can map calday to some other date and fiscal period to some thing else.

  • BI Reporting: LO & FI environment differences? Role of Fiscal Year Variant

    Hi,
I will soon be on a project as a Reporting BI Consultant in the Finance environment. A first, but I have worked as a SAP BI Reporting person in SD environment in the past.
    1. What should I expect to be different reporting for FI compared to LO?
    2. In particular, I have some questions about fiscal year variant after reviewing the many documents on this site.
Let's say k4 is the fiscal year variant and my understanding is that it can be a calenda dependant fiscal year variant, meaning that postings on R3/ECC are stored by months from Jan to Dec[ Is this a true statement about the storage of data? ]
    i.   Now, if this is the case, about data storage, then how is k4 used in reports?
ii.  If k4 is stored in months then what if the data is needed per weeks, or per days on reports?
iii. On the same report can there also be another fiscal year variant k5? Any real life examples to clarify it?
    3. What are the challenges I should expect in reporting for finance i.e. as an SAP BI Reporting Consultant?
    Thanks

    A. Aging like how many days Account Receivable been outstanding.. report like 0 - 30Days, 31 - 60Days and 61 - 90Days and so on.
    B. Everything like fisc* depends on variant and everyting 0cal* depends on normal calendar. A record can't have more than one fiscal variant. Like I mentioned to you, a company code may use one of the variants they are allowed to use and everything is based on that. I am not sure I answered your querstion.
    C. Let's assume 05/30/2011 is the calendar day and K1 variant is Jan - Dec, so the 0fiscper = 005/2011 0fiscyear = 2011 and 0fiscper3 = 05 and if the variant is K2 which is July - June then 0fiscper = 011/2011 and 0fiscyear = 2011 and 0fiscper3 = 11. in your report you have to give users variant selection as mandatory variable to get appropriate result.
2i. like I mentioned above, based on the variant selection, the report displays the correct value.
2ii. Just like any other data aggregation, if you data is stored by period and they want to drilldown by week, then you need to store your data at detail level. That is why aggregation is very important.
2iii. Like is is explained above, a company can use only one variant, if you want to get data for Z1 countries, then in the variable selection they pass K1 and likewise for K2. The challenge here is if you want to display both K1 and K2, this is real challeng for global reporting. In this case you have to convert the K2 to K1 in transformation so that you can use one variant for both countries. That way both K1 and K2 coutries for the same fiscal variant will be displayed.
    thanks.

  • Posting in Asset Accounting in closed fiscal year

    Hi
We are in the fiscal year 2009 and my client wants to open the closed fiscal year 2008 in both Asset accounting and Finance.
Point 1  :   The requirement is they want to post some correction entries in April 2008 -Let me know what needs to be done in terms of depreciation posting etc to do a 2008  yearend again.
Point 2  :  Any specific steps to do a full year end in 2008 now to balance Asset Accounting and Financial .And to carry forward balances as to where we are now in period 10.
    Please advice.

    Hi,
if you open 2008 and post, you have to process the full fiscal year end close procedure. AFAB, ASKB, the whole story.
You don´t have to worry about the carry forward, this will be done automatically by the system.

  • Variable for Fiscal Year Period in cube "0ECCS_C01" - Urgent

    Hi all,
I have created a query based on cube "0ECCS_C01". I have restriced the characterstic " Fiscal Year Period" on  "Period/Fiscal Year (Single Value Entry, Required)" variable. Output of the query are just 2 numbers : sum of "cumulative value GC" and sum of "period value gc" for given period. This query is working fine in query designer. The variable takes input in following form "001.2008". I have checked that in analyzer that the 'key' value of the variable is in this format "001.2008".
Now in VC , when i place "001.2008" in start point coding for fiscal year, it is giving error. Can any one please tell me that why it is throwing an error.I have given the same format as i gave in query designer. or shud i give period in some other format??
    Please respond.

    Hi,
can you give us further information about the data type in the cube resp. the infoobject, which is used in the cube for the fiscal year/period?
Maybe you can try 0002008. Can you check which values you can enter when you execute the query in the web, so that the value helps for the variable comes up?

  • Asset still showing planned  value for closed fiscal year.

*We have a situation:-  After we ran depreciation for Dec 2009, there was a credit memo posting done in the system for a particular asset.  Now, the fiscal year has been closed for 2009 and 2010 is opened. Jan and Feb depreciation posting has been done for the asset for year 2010, but the credit memo posting is still stuck as planned value in the 12th period of 2009. How can we take care of that?  I canu2019t run unplanned depreciation for 2009. Is there a better way to take care of this?  I thought about opening year 2009 for the asset (ccode) and then running unplanned depreciation. Will that be a problem? If yes, what other solution can be proposed.*
    *Appreciate the response.*

    Hi,
If it is not possible to open the fiscal year because audit
has already been completed we have a workaround which is not quite
correct from the legal side ist thereport RACORR20_A from note 29694.
If in table ANLC there are differences between posted and planed
depr. the report simply makes: planed = posted.
    The correct way would be:
->  Reopen your GL for FY 2008 via OB52.
    ->  Recalculate values  (RAAFAR00)
    ->  RAPOST2000
    ->  RAPERB2000
    ->  RAJABS00

  • Variances in COPA docs because of the old/new fiscal years

    Hello Experts,
here is the scenario of my issue. During the last day of the fiscal year there were some billing documents created. So there are COPA documents with material costs of that year. However, on the second day of the new fiscal year those billing docs were canceled with back date and rebilled. Since the material prices are different in the new fiscal year there are differences in COPA documents. Is there any way we can tell the system to grab old material prices instead of the current prices from the costing tabs  when generating copa documents?
    I appreciate your inputs.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I hope you are talking about the COPA document at the time of Invoice.
If I am right in understanding your requirement, pl check the Pricing Procedure Date in the Sales Order. Billing Doc is posted using the standard price based on the pricing procedure date.
    Thanks

  • Fiscal year 2010 Not allowed while creating Process order in COR1

    Dear Friends,
We have gone SAP live in the month of October. The fiscal yeat we are using is 2011 as the client is Indian client. I have made the fiscal year variant for 2011 (V3). The FI document posting with Fiscal year 2011. It is also creating the Controlling document and Profit center document without any problem.
We have also made the period open as 2011 in MMpv and MMRV. The goods receipts is working fine and the finance entry and material document gets generated for the fiscal year 2011.
Now we are creating the process order in COR1 and getting the error message Fiscal year 2010 not allowed as below.

    Diagnosis
The fiscal year entered (2010) is different from the fiscal year derived from the posting date and fiscal year variant (2011).
    System Response
    Error.
    Procedure
    Correct the fiscal year entered.
In KP26 we have maintianed for activity price for 2010 &  2011 and the system is picking the data for the fiscal year 2010 data and not the FY 2011 data.
I have checked in OKEQ (Costing version '0') The valide start date for FY2011 is 01.04.2010.
Is there any other place to maintain the fiscal year in Controlling area or Prodduction Planning???
I last my patient last 5 days doing R&D. Can any one help me where the fiscal year is picking and why it is picking FY 2010??
    Regards,

    Hi Ajay,
Thank you for your comments. I have checked the Factory calendar and that is 2010 (January to December). We have tried to change to 2011 but the system automatically picking the date from January 1st 2011 to 31st December 2011. I am unable to create calendar year with date from 01.04.2010.
I have discussed with my PP consultant about this issue, he is telling the factory calendar nowhere related to Fiscal year. Do you have any idea how to change the factory calendar of 2011 from 01.04.2010 to 31.03.2011??  Is there any there reason why my system considering the Fiscal year 2010 instead of 2011???
Your inputs will defenitely help me to get an clue.

  • Use of Different Fiscal Year Variant-Statistical Depreciation Area Postings

An existing Company Code in SAP is going to have Fixed Assets implemented.  This Company Code is setup just like the others in our SAP instance: Same Chart of Accounts, Same Fiscal Year Variant, Fixed Asset procedures, etc.  For purposes of this question our company's Fiscal Year is from August 1st to July 31st.  In addition, this Company Code will post Fixed Assets just like the other SAP enabled Company Codes into Book Depreciation Area 01.  The company I work with is on ECC 6 but we use the Classic Ledger for Financials, and the Special Ledger is posted to but not really utilized.
For the Country Specific/Tax Reporting purposes within Fixed Asset Accounting we have created a Statistical Depreciation Area 03 (I will call it Tax) with its own Life and Depreciation Key assignments with a setting of 0 in OADB-No Posting in GL for this Fixed Asset go-live, so I think we are set there.  The tricky part comes in the reporting.  The country in question requires information to be generated on a Calendar Year basis, which is obviously different than the Fiscal Year outlined above.  To my knowledge we would have to assign Tax Depreciation Area 03 to the Calendar Fiscal Year Variant: Financial Accounting>>Asset Accounting>>Valuation>>Fiscal Year>>Fiscal Year Variants>>Specify Other Versions on Depreciation Area Level.
The other piece of this is to get the Fixed Asset Reporting for Tax Depreciation Area 03 to work on a Calendar Year basis for the Company Code in question.  When I did some research I stumbled upon the link below.  In summary it says that you have to manipulate the standard Fixed Assets reports in Excel for Asset Acquisitions and Depreciation, and setup a new Retirement routine/transaction for posting into the Special Depreciation Area.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/05/bc0bf3d8f811d1953e0000e82debf7/content.htm
    My questions are:
    1) Besides assigning a different Fiscal Year Variant for Tax Depreciation Area 03, is there anything else I need to worry about on the setup end?
    2) Is the article I posted accurate when it comes to how the reporting works and the need for setting up a Calendar Year specific Asset Retirement Routine?  If so, what are the configuration steps for setting up a Calendar Year specific Asset Retirement Routine?
    3) Is there anything else that I need to consider for enabling Fixed Assets at an existing Company Code with different Reporting requirements for Book/Tax purposes?
Thanks in advance for all responses.  I am willing to answer any other questions on this subject if needed.
    Roman

Hello Rio.  In our scenario, we still had to load assets in the legal entity with this issue.  When we loaded the fixed asset data into SAP we did with data accurate as of December 31, 2011; which for book purposes is 5 months into our company's fiscal year, and for tax purposes is the end of the 2011 calendar year.  The calendarized reporting for the tax depreciation will need to be pieced together manually using the SAP recommended methodology of combining report values, which I have pasted below.
Since this is the only SAP-enabled entity that has this scenario right now we are in wait and see mode to see if this sufficient.  In the end the SAP path for Dual Calendar was too much of a risk.
    I hope this helps.

  • The error showing as Fiscal year change has not carried out for the coCd

    Hi all,
I am facing a very critical situation. My client has the last closed fiscal year as 2006(from 2006 april to 2007 march). For the fiscal yr. 2007(2007april to 2008 march) they have already finalised and submitted the reports made from some parallel software. They now want to tally this report with SAP system and to adjust the SAP system entries as per this report. This work was running fine. But on 01.04.2009 none of the asset reports are running. The error it's throwing is as-
Fiscal year change not yet made for company code PWAL
    Message no. AB059
    Diagnosis
You have not yet carried out a fiscal year change for company code PWAL, although the current system date is in the new fiscal year.
    Procedure
Carry out the fiscal year change for company code PWAL.
    Proceed
The error is quite understandable. We have to close 2007 and then perform the fiscal year change. But the problem is that the adjustment for the year 2007 is not yet complete. Is it the only solution with me that I should close the yr.2007 and again open it after the fiscal yr. change? If that is done can I take care of the adjustment in the posted depreciation? Or is it possible that the system date can be made back to 31.03.2009(very stupid ask!). The real problem is that my client has mistakely created some assets in the year 2007(by AS91 after changing the take over date) those should have been shown in the next year and also some assets are creted in the year 2008 by the same strange method those should be shown in the year 2007.What I am doing now is deleting these legacy assets and creating the new assets in the correct year. And this process is not yet complete. If I close the year 2007, then the depreciation of these legacy assets will also be posted.Later how can I reverse the effect? Also without seeing the reports I can't make the adjustments. Please suggest/advice.
    Debabrata

    Hi Debabrata,
You have to do all fiscal year closing steps for 2007. When you reopen it you can do a repeat run for 2007. (You can do the reapeat run only for the new/ changed assets.)
Try first to test this in an actual test system (document it and do the same in production). Perhaps as you know when 2009 is open I want to close 2008 in one week.  All changes they make in the asset system (change depreciation keys, recalulating,...) can result in postings in 2007 / 2008 what they don't want and later fiscal year problems. You will found a lot off masages about this on the form.

  • Fiscal year Reports

    Hi Experts,
I have one problem i.e. our group company having Jan to Dec fiscal year, and their subsidary company having Apr to Mar fiscal year.
About India, i knew the tax and everything should be submitted in the year of Apr to Mar. But we want  to maintain records for group company purpose, means india company maintain same as the group company fiscal year. for taxes in india we have to maintain Tax Fiscal Year (Apr to Mar).
upto this is fine and acceptable. but my client asking how to manage this in sap and what are the requirements for this.
my side, i am a consultant of this company based on clinet site, i suggested - one of this site expert given a valuble idea, to maintain seprate report for this tax balance sheet and PnL.
how to develop this report??, for Apr to Mar or Jan to Dec?
in case for tax purpose we maintain the same, there is no objection from indian govt??
how to configure this customization for sap??
kindly answer and give your valuable suggetions.......

  • Fiscal year key figure

    Hello All,
I am building a report which gives the total PO amount for vendors by year.
This is the way It requires to be
Vendor      PO amount- 2009        PO amount- 2010
The years 2009 and 2010 are fiscal years. I am confused about how to get the restrict the Fiscal year.
should i use the fiscal year variant or period.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Make two variables of fiscal years , one for current year and other for the previous year . As in ur scenario the current year 2010. for the previous year through replacement path you can set the value current year -1.
Now make the two RKF one for Current year amount and second for previous  year amount. Restrict current year amount through current year variable and previous amount with  previous year variable . now you can use both the RKF in query .
    Hope this will work

  • Fiscal Year field when Setting up posting period

    Hi,
Our client has financial year from 1st July - 30 June.  How we normally do is:
    for 1/7/2007 - 30/6/2008, Fiscal Year field = 2008 and 1/7/2008 - 30/6/2009, Fiscal Year field = 2009. etc etc.
    However, what I notice is:
When creating new period, eg: for 1/7/2008 - 30/6/2009, SAP will default the Fiscal Year = 2008.  So, it really requires our client to be very careful and overwrites the default.
    My question is:
    (a) Does the field 'Fiscal Year' play any signigicant role in SAP?
    (b) What is your normal approach about filling in this 'Fiscal Year' field?
    (c) We also notice that when we put in 2008 as the Fiscal Year, when writing report using XL Reporter, we can never reply on the Period code.  We need to refer to the Period name instead.    It is rather confusing for some of our client.
    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Hi
I'm not sure what impact that it has but I usually change it to be 2008 (Jul 07 to Jun 08) etc.. as this make more sense to our clients.
Also, I change the period names to be more logical as well, like July 2007 rather than 2007/08-1. This means that on reports (like XLReporter) it makes more sense to the non-financial people receiving the reports.
    Regards
    Jenny
