  • Problem with Gif image

    Having a problem with gif image not showing up. It will show up in netscape6.2, but not in IE 5.0. Both are using the java 1.4 plugin. They are basic buttons (zoom in, zoom out, etc) and they actions work, just the icons aren't showing. Any help would be great! Below is a snip of code:
    JPanel toolBarsPanel = new JPanel();
    javax.swing.JToolBar toolbar = new javax.swing.JToolBar();
    JButton zoomin = new JButton(new ImageIcon("tut/zoomin.gif"));
    JButton fullext = new JButton(new ImageIcon("tut/fullextent.gif"));
    JButton identify = new JButton(new ImageIcon("tut/identify.gif"));
    JButton btn = new JButton(new ImageIcon("tut/addtheme.gif"));
    toolbar.add(zoomin);
    toolbar.add(fullext);
    toolbar.add(identify);
    toolbar.add(btn);
    add(toolbar, BorderLayout.NORTH);
    Thanks again for any help!

    I used to do a lot of work in this sort of thing. After a while we were able to convince our bosses to use generated HTML (JSPs, etc.), so the problem moved to porting JavaScript to different platforms! (Platforms in this context means the different browser/OS combinations, etc.).
    The only two things I can recommend are:
    - complete control over you code. You will have to fix it! (Tried you apps on a Mac yet?)
    - assume a minimal install. Don't assume users are going to have any fancy tools installed on their PC, unless you are developing an Intranet app, where you know the spec of the machines that are going to be using it.
    As regarding getting IE to use a relative address, I don't think you are going to have any luck their, I'm afraid! (Although I am curious. It has been some time, but I though it did use relative addresses. Are you absolutely sure about this, did you check this out with System.outs and that?

  • About Help image does not appear

    RoboHelp X5.2 Webhelp output
    A logo created as a jpg to be used as an About Help button
    will only appear when compiled on my hard drive.
    I got rid of the powered by Robohelp button and created a
    company image in jpg format for the About Help button.
    In my project I double-clicked on the skin, and then the
    About Button, selected the jpg for the About Button image, selected
    a gif to use in the About Help dialog box, added company
    information, company name, etc.
    Part of skin code ----------------

    id="7">
    <name>About</name>
    <image>selected:napa_logo_blue.jpg?</image>
    I compiled to my local drive. Everything works. The jpg logo
    appears on the top right-hand side, and when you click on it, the
    About Help dialog box opens with the gif image and other
    information.
    However, the development team compiled the help along with
    the application to one of their test boxes. The jpg image does not
    appear. Instead, a small white box with a red x and the words About
    Help appears. When you click on this the About Help dialog box
    opens with all the correct information including the gif image.
    Both images reside in the skin folder on my hard drive. When
    I compile the project they reside in the main folder with all the
    htm files and js files.
    Not sure how to resolve this.

    I am also having this problem. I've just converted a project
    from RH X5 to RH v7. In X5 the .gif file attached to the About
    button worked fine. In RH 7 nothing appears. I've tried adding the
    .gif to the Baggage files but it's still broken. Any other
    suggestions?

  • About gif and jpg

    who can give me the website about gif and jpg format?
    thanks guy.

    This is a crosspost.
    Chances are that you won't get a resonable response when you do that. Try reading How to Ask Questions the Smart Way. That will give you plenty of pointers on getting reasonable responses.
    The response in your other post is a literal answer to you question, google is your friend.
    For a direct answer, here's the the Jpeg FAQ. If what you are actualling requesting is "how do I use images in Java" take a look at the ImageIcon class, the javax.imageio package and search this forum for examples. You could also check the How to use Icons in the Java Tutorial.

  • Putting gif images on my site

    I have a few questions about putting gif images on my site.
    How can I easily create a gif image from my favourite photos and put them on my site by using iWeb ?
    Can I do it by using Preview or QT Pro ?
    Thanks

    Flash is great as long as your audience is able to view flash animation on their systems. I've had trouble with PC users having Flash 7 viewer installed and not being able to view newer Flash 8 material. In a corporate environment, upgrading to each successive update is like pulling teeth.
    Having said that, I don't think animated GIFs are too hard to work with. There is a limitation with color depth and I think various programs produce gifs of varying quality. But everything I've seen have been more than acceptable for web viewing.
    I have a few examples on my website below. Check out the entries for "Goodbye Daisy," "Sporting My New Duds," and "An Important Message." I used Adobe ImageReady.

  • Importing GIF images and maintaining transparency

    I have an issue involving gif images where there is a transparent area that must remain transparent. When I import these images into FCP (6.0.4), the transparent area becomes white and looks awful... how do I fix this phenomenon?

    Does it really have to be GIF?
    Only 256 colors as opposed to the 16 million possible in a TV picture.
    Alpha channel is either on or off - meaning you can't have semi-transparent areas.
    Non-existent anti aliasing and horrible quality generally.
    Even with JPEG you are pushing your luck. JPEG compression can corrupt the fields in interlaced video.
    Saving money on cheap, quick graphics now means spending it later trying to fix what "doesn't look right". Guess what? It never will.
    TIFF is best, PNG will just about do it if not.

  • How combine a jpeg image & animated gif image & save  it as GIF ?

    i have an jpeg image, & also aminated gif image, how do i place the animated gif image over (in the center of the image) a jpeg image & save it as gif file ??

    First thing you need to do is stop thinking in terms of file formats once the files are in photoshop they are all the same. The exception being vector vs raster. But in this instance the process is rteally the same so 6 on one hand a half a dozen on the other. Or as some would say Tomatoe, tomahtoe(mispelled on purpose).
    The jpeg I would assume is the background image and the gif image is the fore ground object. Open the jpeg, and then place the gif file. As long as the fore ground object has transparency, your job is pretty much done. If not, then it will be up to you to mask what you want to keep vs what you don't and apply that selection to the foregrounds layer as a mask.
    Google the net or skim the users manual for the keywords - mask, selections, quickmask, pen tool, paths. Each of these can in one way or another take care of your issue.
    It would be worth your time to also go through the numerous videos about photoshop and see how its done.
    Either go to adobe tv,

  • Drawing multiple .gif images

    Hello, I am creating a Card class and a Deck class, and I have .gif images for each card. I am trying to create a CardDisplay class to test my images. The Card/Deck classes work fine, but I am running into problems getting the images to display. What I have is a JFrame and I use a JLabel for each .gif image. When I add the JLabel to the contentPane, it is still only showing a blank window. Can someone give me any guidance as to how to go about this? Also, I am assuming once I get it to display 1 gif, it will display the remaining 51 in the same place. What I am trying to do is to display them all in a row.. well 4 rows of 13 cards that is. Thanks in advance,
    dub stylee

    Also, just wanted to add that this is not for school. I am doing this for a personal exercise using swing components. I made a card game when I was taking java 1 class, but now I am trying to familiarize myself with the use of graphics. Thanks to anybody who can help.

    How do I stop getting aclk (GIF image,1x1 pixels) when selecting some pages

    It is Kaspersky that is doing that. It intercepts the content and passes that image to Firefox instead of the real content. You should complain on the Kaspersky forum about this if you disagree with the decision made by Kaspersky to send such an image in this case.
    You can look at Adblock Plus instead.

    After about a weeks worth of use, I realized that Safari and Mail dont display GIF images unless I download them and open them in Preview. Even then, I have to manually click each image to see the pictures motion. Sometimes in stead of the question mark, I will get the first picture of the sequence, but none more. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    i dont have a solution, i just said it because i was tired of seeing it unanswered. Sorry, STILL haven't fixed this

    Hi,
    No errors was found in the installation log. I'm looking in the WWDOC_DOCUMENT$ table and found records that make references to my previous tries to upload the logo image. In order to make others tries, how can I delete this information? Are references to this files in any other table?.
    I'm looking over the solution provide by Laurent Baresse, refering to the NLS_LANGUAJE problem ... (Thanks Laurent).

  • Animated gif image

    Hi
    I like to create an animated gif image from a given set of images with java. I like to do this with the given set of java api as I do not want to use a commercial graphics library. Can anyone provide me with a sample example.
    Thanks

    Hi
    I like to resize a gif image. Currently i am using the following code but the resized image is not smooth.
    public BufferedImage resizeImage(BufferedImage img, int newW, int newH)
              int w = img.getWidth();
              int h = img.getHeight();
              BufferedImage dimg = new BufferedImage(newW, newH, img.getType());
              Graphics2D g = dimg.createGraphics();
              g.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_INTERPOLATION, RenderingHints.VALUE_INTERPOLATION_BILINEAR);
              g.drawImage(img, 0, 0, newW, newH, 0, 0, w, h, null);
              g.dispose();
              return dimg;
    Is there a way to resize a gif image in a smooth way as the example given in the gif4j library
    Thanks

  • Animated GIF image gets distorted while playing.

    Hi,
    I have some animated gif images which I need to show in a jLabel and a jTextPane. But some of these images are getting distorted while playing in the two components, though these images are playing properly in Internet Explorer. I am using the methods insertIcon() of jTextPane and setIcon() of jLabel to add or set the gif images in the two components. Can you please suggest any suitable idea of how I can get rid of this distortion? Thanks in advance.

    In the code below is a self contained JComponent that paints a series of BufferedImages as an animation. You can pause the animation, and you specify the delay. It also has two static methods for loading all the frames from a File or a URL.
    Feel free to add functionality to it, like the ability to display text or manipulate the animation. You may wan't the class to extend JLabel instead of JComponent. Just explore around with the painting. If you have any questions, then feel free to post.
    The downside to working with an array of BufferedImages, though, is that they consume more memory then a single Toolkit gif image.
