  • Question About Receiving Calls

I thought I posted this today, but I can't find it. Why is it that when I receive a call, that as soon as I hang up the phone goes to my phone favorites?? Why does it do that? Why will it not go to my home screen where it was? I am missing a setting somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Not with my phone.
    1. Open Safari. While using Safari, call your phone from another line and answer the call. End the call, and the screen goes back to Safari.
    2. Open Phone app, select the dial pad, close Phone app with the home button and lock your phone. Call your phone from another line, answer it and end the call. The phone then relocks. Unlock the phone and it will open to the dial pad screen.
If your phone doesn't do this, do the usual troubleshooting steps as needed:
    1. Reset the phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Restore in iTunes from a backup
    3. Restore as a new iPhone.

  • IPhone screen is dark. I can receive calls but can't make them because I can't see the numbers on the screen. Is there anything I can do about that?d

My phone got damp. It wouldn't work for about a week. Now the screen is completely dark, altho I can receive calls. I just can't make a call because I can't see the numbers.  Anything I can do about that? Is this a simple repair?

Yup, it sounds like your iPhone needs to be sent in for service.

  • IPhone4 Upgrade to 4.1: No Longer Receive Calls At Home

The wife and I both have the iphone4 and it had been working great until we updated to ios 4.1. Since then neither of us can receive calls or texts at home. We can make calls no problem and send texts as well but we are constantly missing calls, voicemails and text messages. It's not uncommon for us to receive a text 4 hours after it was sent or for a voicemail to show up out of no where.
I'm not 100% positive this problem started because of ios 4.1 but it is really the only thing that has changed on our iphones in the past two weeks when all this started.
Being that we have no home phones, this problem is extremely frustrating for us. I was on the phone with AT&T for around 30 minutes attempting to fix the problem, they thought they had it but literally 10 minutes after I hung up with them problem came back. Restarting the phones usually fixes the problem for 5 to 10 minutes.
I did a full restore to both iphones but the only option I saw during the restore was to install version 4.1 again. I wanted to go back to 4.0.2. Did I do something wrong during the restore? Can I get our phones back to version 4.0.2?
I appreciate any help you can give.

My signal bar is decent at home 2 to 4 bars typically. The 3G is great all the time. When I call others they usually sound fine. I can't remember the last time we had a dropped call at home, it almost never happens.
I don't think I can manually select the carrier.
I'll give AT&T another call and ask about congestion status. I've been meaning to anyway, they told me if the problem persists to call them back. I just need to have both phones on me at the time which can be hard to cooridinate.

  • Can't Receive Calls to my Skype To Go Number

We recently purchased a year long unlimited calling plan AND a skype to go number.
Unfortunately, no one can call my number. Sometimes they receive a busy signal, other times it just beeps once and hangs up.
Can you tell me why this is happening and how can we fix it so that I can receive calls to my to go number???

If you mean "Online Number" please do the following:
First check your privacy settings are set to ''Allow calls from anyone''.Then change them to "Allow SkypeIn calls from Only people from my Contacts List".Save and wait for 5 minutes.Log out from your Skype account and log back in. Change settings back to "Allow calls from Anyone". Save and wait for 5 minutes.Log out from your Skype account and log back in.

  • What should I do about fraudulent calls?

It seems as though nowadays the fraudulent phone calls usually have a spoofed caller ID number. As an example, I just received a call that appeared to be from 981-111-1111. Other times a number will end with 0000. In this most recent call, a man with a strong Indian accent told me he was from the Windows Operating System Support Center, or something like that. I asked how he got my number, and he said he got my number because I am a Windows user. In fact, I have not been a Windows user for about ten years. Since I have received calls from this particular scam in the past, I know that he was going to tell me I have a virus on my computer. I cussed at him and he hung up. (Yes, I know: bad form to cuss at a minimum-wage call-center employee, but I was angry.)
My question: Does Verizon have any place to report such calls? Are they trying to do anything about such calls? Are they doing anything to change phone protocols to make it impossible for scammers to spoof the caller-ID number? I'm on the Do-Not-Call list, but when the caller ID number is spoofed, I'm sure the government cannot do anything. I know we all get such calls, and I know blocking the numbers does no good since they constantly change their spoofed number.
I often get important calls from numbers I do not recognize, so ignoring unknown numbers is not an option, and the scam calls seldom use obviously spoofed numbers as this one did.
Is there anything we can do? Verizon, are you making any effort to combat such calls, and if so, how can I help you?
(I wanted to send an email to Verizon, but could not find an email form or customer service email address, and when I called *611 I got a recording saying there was a longer-than-usual wait time, and then it hung up on me. So I'm posting in the Community Forum, partly to vent, partly hoping for answers, and partly hoping Verizon will see this and reply.)

    Thanks for your reply.
But it seems to me that there is a weakness in the protocol when it is even possible for services such as you mention to spoof a phone number. At worst, the company offering the spoofing service should have to show their own real phone number.
Blocking specific numbers does not help because they keep changing the spoofed number. When I get such calls I put them in my phone's address book, name them "Spam" and set the ring tone to No Ring. I never get another call from the same number. (It would show up as a missed call.)
Changing my own number would not help because I'm sure they use a robocaller that just calls every number. I'm already on the Do Not Call list, and that helps reduce calls from "legitimate" solicitors, but the real frauds don't respect it.
What's needed, and I know it would not be easy, but ought to be possible, is a protocol for the caller ID data that accompanies calls, that would make it impossible to spoof the caller ID information. Then, at the very least, such calls could be reported to the government as violations of the Do Not Call list and they'd know who the caller really was. At present they can do nothing because they have no way of knowing who really made the call.
The present phone system grew up in an age when this was not an issue because long-distance calls were too expensive to be profitable for spammers. It is time now for a complete revision to the protocols which would address the problem by making spoofing impossible, or at least too expensive for spamming to be profitable.
Thanks for your time and consideration. I know we have the same interests here. These criminals are stealing money from the people who can least afford it, and the lack of any means for tracking their calls gives them a level of protection from discovery that is just not acceptable.

  • How can I keep the history of my dialed and received calls for one or two weeks on my iPhone 5?

How can I keep my history for my dialed and received calls on my iPhone 5?

The only thing is, I have read where it will only keep 100 entries at tops. I'm not sure as I have never let it get that high, however many business users have reported this.
OP, how much history are you talking about keeping? Also, there is no method to archive this in any fashion to be looked at or searched at a later date.

  • Ios5.0.1, can't receive calls, can't end call, can't take video!!!!!

After installed ios5.0.1, can't receive calls, can't end call, can't take video!! The screen become frozen! Any help please? Thx!

How about going to a corporate store and see if they will let you put your SIM card in a display model. Your number will transfer over with the SIM card. Then if you call your number from your wife's phone or one of store landline phones and the call goes through, you have ruled out the SIM card being the problem.
You don't have the phone number set to automatically forward to the voicemail, do you?

  • My two months old IPhone5(AT n T) not receiving calls (quite a few times) even though signals are good,Because sometimes people are calling my landline and asking Is your phone switched off ? In fact network also good at that time.Any fix ?

My two months old IPhone5(AT n T) not receiving calls ( quite a few times - Till now it happened around 15-16 times) even though signals are good,Because sometimes people are calling my landline and asking me that  Is your phone switched off ? Infact network also good at that time. Not sure about the problem.
I contacted AT n T also and explained about the problem, They suggested to monitor few more days...whether it is real network issue or not. But I am very sure it is NOT network issue because one day I was waiting for my brother at my office open parking space, And i called my brother whether he is ready at his place so that i can go and pick him, but he told it takes sometime...and he told, he will call in 15 mins, So i was at the same location (NOT even moved 1 inch also ), just sitting and listening music and after 30 mins, I called him back and asked Still not ready, then he replied he was trying me from last 15 mins and it is going to voice mail , I got similar complaint from others as well. Today also my cousin called my landline and asked Is your phone switched off ? because i was trying to reach you but it is going to voice message, I saw the signals at that time, Signal strength is very good. I think there is some problem in Iphone5 may be LTE or something.
Taking phone to next levels is good, But it should NOT hamper it's basic phone functionality ( Make calls, receiving calls, Voice mail etc ). Please let me know if any fix for this.

You say it started on yours after upgrading to iOS 8.  I've been on iOS 8.0 for quite some time and only recently did this issue spring up.
The one thing I haven't tried is downgrading it back to iOS 7 (which would be a shame, but if it's the only answer...)
I'll get back to you once I've tried that.

  • Can't make or receive calls and SMS's

I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 and out of nowhere it started refusing to send or receive SMS's and it doesn't want to make or receive calls, load airtime, check voicemail and all the telephony parts of it. However, my BBM and internet are working perfectly. I tried calling my service provider (MTN) about this and they said it was a call barring problem, they gave me a bunch of pins to use but my phone won't even allow for those to work. Please help, kind of desperate here. Thanks

In this situation you mobile operator is the only solution for you. You contact them again and ask how unbar your phone so that everything becomes normal.

  • Can't make or receive calls on sprint after iOS 6 upgrade

I upgraded my 4s to iOS 6. Everything went smoothly till I tried to make a call. Now I can't make or receive calls. Everything else seems to work fine. I can even get my voicemail. My phone is through sprint. Has anyone else had this issue? Anyone know what to do about it?

Same problem and I just called Sprint to get it fixed.
They had me go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
After that they gave me a number to call (##numbers##) that i dont remember and isn't in my phone but after that a message popped up saying cellular reset failed but my phone started working again anyway.
I would maybe try reseting the network settings and if that doesnt work then call sprint and they can fix ya up pretty quick.
    good luck

  • My S3 will not make/receive calls or send texts.

  • My phone can't  make or receive calls when 3G is enabled

Hello everyone, I just joined this forum because yesterday I started having a problem on my 2 months-old Iphone 4S.
I can't make any calls, and when I try it beeps three times and I get a "Call Failed" message. People that try calling me get the same problem, but my Wi-Fi/3G was working fine.
After doing a quick research on the internet and trying a bunch of things, (like: Turning Airplane Mode on and off, turning my phone on and off, resetting the Network Settings, loading the "Show My Caller ID" on Settings>Phone>Show my caller ID) I found a guy who was having a similar problem and "solved" it by disabling 3G on Settings>General>Network
I tried it and it surprisingly worked, now I can only call or receive calls if my 3G is off (I found out I can still keep Wi-Fi on, though.)
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Does it seem like it's the carrier's or apple's fault?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rafael

" I found a guy who was having a similar problem and "solved" it by disabling 3G on Settings>General>Network"
there is no such thing in the iphone settings... i went to settings, general and theres nothing about "network" or 3G
complete bullocks and still have the problem

  • My phone will not send or receive calls

My phone will not send or receive calls; it goes straight to voicemail and when I try to send a call, it will not connect. I have reset, rebooted, and tried just about everything. Any other suggestions?

What did your carrier say when you contacted them and reported the problem?

  • FaceTime not receiving calls

    Hi hope someone could help.
I have a new iMac with Facetime set up.
For some reason if someone calls me nothing happens, Facetime doens't start up, no incoming call alert. Nothing.
If I log out then log back in then sometimes it will work.
I have tried changing my Firewall settings, but it hasn't made any difference, it also occurs with the Firewall disabled.
    Could anyone please help?
    Many Thanks

I have had problem connecting my iMac with my iPad and iPhone.
    The story.
On my home network I was able to call from iPad to iPhone and viceversa.
Calls from iPad/iPhone to iMac and viceversa didn't work.
On my home network I was able to call from iPad to iPhone and viceversa.
iMac was "seen" on the net from iPhone and iPad calls but no answer button comes up on iMac.
iPhone and iPad receive calls from iMac but cant connect to iMac.
Reading various messages about FaceTime problems I used iNicolas2 suggestion:
    Go to :
    SETTINGS -> Network -> AirPort -> More -> DNS -> Add 8.8.8.8
You have adding the Google DNS and FaceTime works on your Mac !
Now FaceTime works on my home network and iMac.
Maybe you have a different problem, but the above solution worked for me.
    Have a nice day.
