By "i/ps" do you mean "input"?
Runtime.getRuntime() does not allow you to execute anything, do you mean [Runtime.getRuntime().exec(String[] cmdarray)|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/Runtime.html#exec(java.lang.String[])]

  • Why do I get a warning about downloading J2SE Runtime Environment?

I want to take some courses through SkillSoft, it requires downloading a Java Runtime environment. Before I even started to download I got a Firefox message about something being blocked and that the JRE could cause stability or security problems? I closed the window so I don't have the exact message. Should I download the JRE or not?

Consider going to a Windows forum
(or better yet, to Microsoft's web site or to a local book store)
and learning about Vista's "User Account Control".
At least do a Google search on it.

  • Deploying an Application to a APEX 3.1.1 Runtime Environment

    Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to work out how to deploy an application from a development to runtime environment but am facing a few issues / uncertainty and would appreciate any input/help on this. To begin with here is my environment:
    - Apex 3.1.1
    - Two Oracle 9i (9.2.0.8) instances running on different hosts (development environment on host AA and runtime environment on host BB)
    - Using the Oracle 9i HTTP Server with mod_plsql (on both hosts)
    - DEVLWS workspace +(on development env)+
    - DEVSCHEMA schema +(on development env)+
    - USER01 - non-developer & non-admin user +(on development env)+
    - DEV01 - developer and admin user +(on development env)+
I'm performing this test deployment with the downloaded application Timesheets from apex.oracle.com with the application ID of 111 (when imported into my development environment).
    Situation:_
I have no issues on the development environment. I can import the Timesheet app into it and run it using either the USER01 or DEV01 ID as it was imported into the DEVSCHEMA schema. However, when I try to deploy over to my runtime environment, here is where things gets sketchy on this.
    1) In order to get this application (Timesheets) to run properly on my runtime environment, I've to perform a Oracle9i EXP of my DEVSCHEMA objects and import this into my runtime environment using the IMP utility to get the proper workspace and associated objects over,
--> I tried exporting the workspace on the development env but even after running it on the runtime env, I was not able to get the application to run (missing workspace schema, users etc).
    2) From my development environment, I export the Timesheet app with supporting objects option and on the runtime environment, I use SQL*Plus as such:
    SQL> alter session set current_schema=FLOWS_030100;
    SQL> @f111.sql
Once the script completes, I use the http://hostBB:7776/pls/apex/f?p=111.1 url and was able to get in to the application, however I found things like the images are missing and I've to manually export these again from the development env and run the generated SQL script file on my runtime env.
Is there a better (and documented step by step) way of doing this kind of deployment? The Apex User Guides talks about creating a packaged application but I didn't see this as a way to deploy specifically into a runtime environment as I followed it and still had missing images. When I did the export of the Timesheet application, I used the DEV01 id and made sure I selected the 'with supporting objects' option but yet I've to do most of the steps manually (i.e. build the schema, tablespace, application tables via exp/imp) and again the images were not included.
Is there a document / note available that discusses this in better detail (deploy from Development env to Runtime env) so that I can do cut down the manual steps and making sure that my developers can effectively deploy our apps with minimal fuss and headaches? Appreciate any input.

...I've to perform a Oracle9i EXP of my DEVSCHEMA objects and import this into my runtime environment using the IMP utility to get the proper workspace and associated objects over,...
EXP/IMP will not do workspaces. You can use the Application Express apex_admin application to export a workspace to a file. Then, in a runtime environment, you can install that workspace file using SQL*Plus. This way of
creating the workspace also ensures that it will have the same workspace ID as it did in the original database, making possible the installation of exported applications from application export files from the original
workspace into the new workspace having the same workspace ID and also where the installed applications are to have their original application IDs.
... and still had missing images. When I did the export of the Timesheet application, I used the DEV01 id and made sure I selected the 'with supporting objects' option but yet I've to do most of the steps manually (i.e. build the schema, tablespace, application tables via exp/imp) and again the images were not included.
Images aren't part of application exports. Exporting the images to a file and then installing them using that file and SQL*Plus is the way to do it.
As Patrick mentioned, running the application export file in SQL*Plus doesn't run the supporting objects script. It creates the script in the datbase. But in a runtime environment you can't run the script because the runtime environment lacks the Application Builder.
    SQL> alter session set current_schema=FLOWS_030100;
    SQL> @f111.sql
You can install applications by connecting as a less privileged schema. Any schema assigned to the workspace into which the application is to be installed will do. To install workspace export files (or applications), you can also use a schema that has been granted the role APEX_ADMINISTRATOR_ROLE.

  • Java Runtime Environment

    Hello,
A window often pops up on the screen of my Macbook, asking (I translate as I can from french):
" to show this web content, install the environment Java Runtime Environment."
What can I do? How can I get rid of it?
    Thanks for your help.

…but also on the reasons why apple first saw it necessaray to make its own Java releases, but also on what is - I think - consensus on the net.
Consensus is usually wrong. As for why Apple did it, here's something from someone who knows the history.
"Originally, Sun developed Java and supported it for all platforms except OS X. Since Sun did not develop and support a JRE for OS X, Apple stepped in and did the ports. At the time, it appeared that Java was going to be an important development language for client side applications as well as browser embedded applets. In fact, many applications were developed in Java as that was essentially the only language that allowed a single binary to run on multiple platforms. Apple also did not fully integrate the JRE, so on the Macintosh Java also had some rather serious performance issues.
"As Java faded as a development language for client applications and moved to being a server side language on Linux and BSD boxes, Apple pulled development resources from the OS X port. Later, even some the integration components allowing a more Mac like GUI were dropped. (Note that Java has been very successful for developing Android applications, where the Google JRE has extensive optimizations and a very good JIT. {Yes, I know about Dalvik - the point stands that a proper JRE can have very good performance even if Google uses a modified byte code.})
"With Oracle's purchase of Sun, Oracle decided to commit resources to the OS X port of the JRE and JDK. Apple no longer needs to do this port to maintain platform parity; hence Apple no longer supplies the JRE. However, it does still supply some of the integration components that Oracle uses in their ports of Java for OS X."

  • Runtime environment for the production apex instance

My first goal is to export a full application from a full development environment to a runtime environment.
The two environments are on dedicated servers.
From Oracle Application Express documentation and Oracle Application Express Forum, I realized that to install an exported application into a runtime installation, you must:
    1) Export the workspace from the Application Express instance where the application was developed. The export file created contains information about the workspace, all the users in the workspace, and any groups in the workspace (if applicable).
    2) Use SQL*Plus to import your workspace in to the runtime environment.
    3) Export and then import your application (with Supporting Objects) using SQLPlus in to the runtime environment. The related files
This means that to be able to import an application via SQL*Plus from a development environment to a runtime environment, the workspace must exist (with the identical workspace ID) in the runtime environment. And the best way to ensure that the workspace IDs are the same is to export the workspace from the development apex instance and import it into the runtime apex instance.
Also, you can't change the application ID through SQL*Plus - so if you're importing the application via SQL*Plus, either a) that application ID can't exist, or b) if it does exist, it will be overwritten by the import (of course, in case b we don't export/import also supporting objects).
I know that there are some tricks, like editing the application export file just to import into a workspace with a different ID in the production runtime environment. But i wuold like to be official supported ;)
So in my case i think i could, for the first export/import:
    1) Convert the production apex instance from runtime environment into a full development environment.
    2) Export the workspace from the development instance using the apex administration services (in a text file).
    3) Import the exported workspace into the production instance using the text file created and SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
FOR THE NEXT POINT 4 I ASSUME THAT EXPORTING/IMPORTING A WORKSPACE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE SCHEMAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE WORKSPACE.
    4)
a1) Create a new schema for the supporting objects of applications in the production instance with a DBA tool.
a2) Assign the schema created in the production instance to the workspace imported from the development instance, using the apex administration services.
or, if you want apex creating the schema for the supporting objects of applications:
    4)
b1) Create a new workspace (with a new schema) in the production instance using the apex administration services.
b2) Delete the workspace created in the production instance: the schema will not be removed.
b3) Assign the schema created to the workspace imported from the development instance.
    5) Delete the users and eventually the groups in the imported workspace in the production instance, using the apex administration services.
    6) Change the name of the imported workspace in the production instance, using the apex administration services.
    7) Convert the production apex instance from full development environment to runtime environment.
    8) Export the application (with supporting objects) from development instance, using the export page.
    9) Import the application (with supporting objects) to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
    10) Export all associated files (related files) of the application (CSS, Images, Themes, ...) from developmente instance, using the tabs located at the top of the export page.
    11) Import the related files to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
So, for next the next releases of the application i can again export the full application:
    1) Export the application (without supporting objects) from development instance, using the export page.
    2) Import the application (without supporting objects) to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
    3) Export all updated associated files (related files) of the application (CSS, Images, Themes, ...) from developmente instance, using the tabs located at the top of the export page.
    4) Import the exported related files to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
or i can export and import single pages of the application.
Excuse me for the long introduction, but the question is:
what i have written is correct? Please let me know also your advice.
    Thanks a lot.
    Silvio

    HI,
    Thanks for responding.
Should the APEX_ADMIN be available in a runtime environment?
If so, we have missed a step in our installation.

  • Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash.

    ...This is really annoying.
I work with adobe cs5. Recently, it started to not work. I would have to restart it over and over to get it to compile an swf properly. So I am trying cs5.5. I get this error "Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
    So im like OK....Thats helpful....
    -reinstalls flash-
"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
    -reinstalls java-
    -reinstalls flash-
    -reinstalls adobe flash cs5.5-
"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
    -google-
So I come across this post. Follow it exactly.
"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
I change the thingy in the file to Xmx1024M
"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
    I come to the forums.
    What do I do now?

    Intro:
Finally I got near to roots of that mysterious Error
"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
So here is what I'm found out + Bugfix
    JavaPatch for Adobe Flash CS5 / CS6...     Ver #1 [ 21.01.2014 ]
    ======================================
This is the fix the bug in Flash tell you all the time that
Java could not be loaded. The effect of this error is that
    Actionscript will not work.
Flash gives a little misleading error messages that tells you that
"There is no Actionscript in the current Project"
    background information:
The problem is that the Java Virtual Machine.dll demands on startup
250MB huge contiguous memory blocks, but the 2GB-Virtual address
space of the Flash.exe process is already filled with various loaded dll's
BEFORE you continue ensure that you install/copied JRE 1.8.0 update 31 to
    %ProgramData%\Adobe\CS5\jre\
For testing check if ...Adobe\CS5\jre\bin\java.exe starts
(and shows a help about available commands)
The Patch is for 32-bit version only!
(however the problem is probably not in the 64-Bit Version - since there a process has a much large more 'space')
    Well SIMPLE FIX / Workaround:
Use 64-Bit version of Adobe Flash !
    TechDetails:
Java's JVM.dll loaded in Ollydebug -  The patched / change bytes are red.
^-Note that String ASCII "NUMA page alloc..." - will be a great 'link' to easily find that location in other JVM-versions to applied the patch there. Open jvm.dll in Ollydebug open String Ref. Windows and search for the string...
    Download instructions:
Right click on picture above and download it.
    Drag/open  the *.jpg in / into Winrar / 7-Zip
    OR
    Rename 'Flash-CSX-jvm-JavaPatch #1.7z.jpg' -> 'Flash-CSX-jvm-JavaPatch #1.7z' so you open it by doubleclick
-> My creative solution for that A-Dope-board missing 'Attach file feature'
    Tested:
    with Adobe Flash CS5 + JRE 1.8.0 update 31
    More Techstuff:
Some of my notes that might be useful:
Note the memory is not real allocated in the way it can be use since to write or read from it is just allocated as
MEM_RESERVE like you see in the screenshot above. And freed just a little alter.
It seems that java just checks if it could possible the maximal the JVM is made for.
Note the problem is not that you have to less physical RAM installed.
It's more related how memory is organise.
Well in 32 Bit each process has 4GB (or well practically Windows limits this to 2GB).
    0x00000000 to 0x7FFF0000
This space is virtual and not actually claimed (else you would very quickly run out of RAM) but it a kind of potential or Adress system. Na sorry that'll be to offtopic to explain all the basic's about memory.
    Adobe Flash CS5 calls
    jvm.dll!JNI_CreateJavaVM( OUT **p_vm, OUT **p_env, IN *vm_args);
    The 'vm_args'
    typedef struct JavaVMInitArgs {
        jint version;  00010004
      1. /* user classes */
      -D java.class.path=
      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5\Common\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0\;
      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5\Common\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0\asc_authoring.jar;
      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5\Common\"...
      2. /* set native library path */
      -D java.library.path=
      C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\jre\bin
      3.
      -D java.Home=C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\jre
      4. classpath append
      -X bootclasspath/a:
      C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7\jre\lib\ext\QTJava.zip
      5. Headless mode is a system configuration in which the display device, keyboard, or mouse is lacking. Headless mode support has been available since the J2SE 1.4 platform.
      -D java.awt.headless=true
        jboolean ignoreUnrecognized; 1
    } JavaVMInitArgs;
So for any further exploration about this Java problem setting a breakpoint to 'JVM.dll!JNI_CreateJavaVM' will be a great startpoint

  • How to Force Internet Explorer specific Java Runtime Environment?

Problem: UConn uses a tool called Blackboard. Blackboard requires Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_07-b03)
    but I develop so NETBeans IDE needs/wants JDK6 ( likes JDK 6 Update 16 )
Tried managing add-ons in IE, Tried Firefox too.
What I want is to have IE forced to the JDK5 runtime and let my other applications (NetBeans, Oracle, OracleSQLDeveloper, Firefox and MYSQL use the JDK6). I know NEtBeans will allow to specify which JDK but it seems that IE still sees both and screws up.
Things I tried but didnt work: managing add-ons and I saw items like this Force Internet Explorer to use a specific Java Runtime Environment install?
    from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/71254/force-internet-explorer-to-use-a-specific-java-runtime-environment-install
First, disable the currently installed version of Java. To do this, go to Control Panel > Java > Advanced > Default Java for Browsers and uncheck Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Next, enable the version of Java you want to use instead. To do this, go to (for example) C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_15\bin (where jre1.5.0_15 is the version of Java you want to use), and run javacpl.exe. Go to Advanced > Default Java for Browsers and check Microsoft Internet Explorer.
To get your old version of Java back you need to reverse these steps.
Note that in older versions of Java, Default Java for Browsers is called <APPLET> Tag Support (but the effect is the same).
The good thing about this method is that it doesn't affect other browsers, and doesn't affect the default system JRE.
    Any ideas?

    Simple then - bad idea.
If your minimal target is 1.5 then you develop in 1.5. If you insist on using 1.6 for functional reasons then you will need to maintain two development environments on your box 1.5 and 1.6. You explicitly build support for 1.6 and detection for that into the code and test it using 1.6. And test using 1.5 as well.
Note you must test both 1.5 and 1.6. Full functional tests.
Obviously limiting yourself to 1.5 would require less effort (cost.)

I am wondering why I got three note pads on my desktop telling me about Java Runtime Environment Error.
Is this how Java Runtime Environment Error lets you know there is a problem. When a window pops up saying there is a Java Runtime Environment Error problem I normally send it.
Nothing every happens when I send Java Runtime Environment Error. How can this problem be fixed.
And why am getting Java Runtime Environment Error on my desktop. The second & third Java Runtime Environment Error cant fit in this post because of Maximum allowed is 7500 only. And I had to remove the bootom part of the first Java Runtime Environment Error just to make it fit.

  • J2SE Runtime Environment - can I delete old versions?

Hello - I know nothing about JAVA so this may be a silly question. My computer has been running very slowly lately, and I noticed I have 3 J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 updates - update 6, 9, and 10. Can you tell me if I can delete the older updates? They're huge files, and I'd like to delete them to free up space if it's advisable.
    Thank you.

Shouldn't, I repeat shouldn't, not won't, be a problem, but that won't help with your "running very slowly" problem.

  • When I open my iMac I keep getting messages that say Java Runtime Environment details and instal

I updated to Yosemite and now whenever I open up my IMac it says Java Runtime Environment needs to be installed and you can either select ok or details and not sure what to do about it.

Most likely, you have either the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. Both depend on the Java runtime distributed by Apple. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

  • HT1338 The Java Runtime Environment cannot be found.

The Java Runtime Environment cannot be found.   installing a dlink security camera

Okay, so I had the same problem with my dLink cameras after following the links on mydLink.com.
Apparently using the download of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from the Java site creates a problem. Given a choice, don't do it that way, but if you've already downloaded it and installed it (which I did on two of my three Macs) there's a solution.
If you haven't downloaded JRE as directed by dLink, then go to Spotlight and search for Java.  You'll find Java Preferences.  When you run it, you will be asked if you want to download JRE.  Say yes and then make sure the enable applet box is checked.  myDLink.com should run fine and you will see your camera or cameras.  Works great.
If you already downloaded JRE from the Java site as directed by the DLink site, you have to do a little work to get rid to do the reinstall.
In file manager, go to the HD drive.  Click on System, then Library, then Java. Delete the three folders from the Java folder. .
Then reinstalled MAC OSX   You do this by restarting the system and holding the command key and the r key down as the computer restarts.  You can let go of the keys when the gray apple appears.  Work your way through and just reinstall the operating system.  All of your files will be fine - just like installing the new version of OSX from the App Store.  (Good idea to backup your computer first with Time Machine or whatever you use.)
After reinstalling, which takes about an hour, go to Spotlight and search for Java.  You'll find Java Preferences.  When you run it, you will be asked if you want to download JRE.  Say yes and then make sure the enable applet box is checked.
Apple Care was great in helping me through the problem.  The first technical support guy couldn't find the solution, so he turned me over to more senior person who figured out the fix.
    good luck.

  • The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded

When viewing my website I get the above message. I click on ok, go into the site, but when changing pages I get the following "several java virtual machines running in the same process caused an error". On other computers there is no problem. The website was developed using Serif WebPlus 10 on Windows XP SP2.

The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded, followed by multiple java machines in the same process causing an error. I had the same thing happen to me in IE version 7. Eventually I did a few radical things to fix the issue. One of the things I did, or combination of things, eventually fixed it. I'd close and re-open IE7 with each different thing I tried so as to reset it. I uninstalled every Java RTE update, and there were about 5 of them, and then reinstalled the latest (1.5 Update 10). I turned off Tabbed browsing (once it was fixed I turned it back on). From MS Control Panel - Java, General Tab, Delete Files... I deleted everything Java cached. From the Java Tab, View... Button, I removed all Java runtime parameters for the 1.5.0_10 line so it just starts up with defaults. (Basically undoing memory parameter fixes another thread said to try, I typed in to try and fix it, and this did not work "-Xmx256M" this setting caused more harm than good). Well, that's what I did, and now I can browse websites with Java again. It's probably a little radical, but the error message wasn't very helpful in pinpointing what exactly caused the problem in the first place. Good luck.

  • The Java RunTime Environment Issue

As Miriam has helpfully pointed out, Pith Helmet is a Safari plug in. You won't find it in Applications, rather you'll see it in your home folder's Library/Application Support.
As you have now added, these difficulties are being experienced with all three browsers, then you can discount Pith Helmet as it is Safari only, but it was a relevant suggestion based on your first post. I use it to cut out a lot of the 'ad noise' you get on sites.
As Nathan has said, 10.5 should be working fine on your hardware, and agree with his fresh approach suggestion. But as you don't have the 10.5 disks to do this you need to get your own set of disks. Disks are not just software, but also have utility functions that you may require in the future. Also with Apple, legally, you must own the operating system installed. Currently you don't.
As you got the computer for free, buying a set of Retail Leopard Disks, has you still in front.
Prior to this, you could remove Firefox completely and download and install it again and see if that works properly, but that would be surprising as it appears to be some system wide defect and your thoughts about a malfunctioning Java runtime is a likely cause.
