About the /lib64 directory [SOLVED]

I noticed recently that I have a /lib64 folder in my root directory, wich contains only two symlinks (ld-2.15.so and ld-linux-x86-64.so.2).
More precisely, I have the following layout: (the arrows mean "points to", and I use absolute path)
/lib64/ld-2.15.so --> /lib/ld-2.15.so
/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 --> /lib/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 --> /lib/ld-2.15.so
Is this "normal" (I run arch x86-64) ?
I once used multilib, is it the reason why I have this /lib64 directory ?
If so, is it safe to delete the /lib64 directory now that I don't use it anymore ?
Thanks

OK thank you very much for the explanation.
Yes, I'm updating the system right now (this is actually the reason why I was wondering about this, the glibc update was an opportunity to (try to) understand how the libraries are organized).

  • About the Nonlinear System Solver

Hi, I am trying to solve a nonlinear system that is a little complicated to get the solution manually:
    B*Sin(P)/(2*sin(B)*b)=0
    B*Sin(W)/(2*sin(A)*b)=0
    A+B+P+W-180=0
I tried to use the Nonlinear System Solver entering the formulas and
all I get is an error code -23001 (Error -23001 occurred at an
    unidentified location Possible reason(s):
Analysis:  Syntax error of parser. "
I don't know what I am doing wrong, I am doing it similarly to the
attached VI, with my own equations and controls. I even tried to change
the equations so I would delete the "sin" (sine), just to make a test
(about syntax and the solver not understanding that command?), and I
    got the same error.
    Help is much appreciated,
    Thanks

Also remember that the argument to trigonometric functions must be in radians here.
Are you sure that A and Beta are not [0<A<π/2], [0<Beta<π/2].
How about the "180" in the last formula. Shouldn't it be π instead?
Is b 83 degrees or just a constant of 82?

On windows 8 how do I go about finding the solution to directory not found.?

Opening in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.<br />
You can check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Cmd+B on Mac).<br />
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.<br />
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.<br />

  • VMM 2012 R2 - Create or Update Run As Account Failure: The specified directory service attribute or value does not exist

    VMM 2012R2 UR4 - Version 3.2.7768.0
Not sure when this started happening since I haven't had to update or create a new RunAs account in VMM in some time, but every time I do, either through the console or through PowerShell it throws an error about The specified directory service attribute

  • [SOLVED]mpd does not detect the music directory

I recently installed mpd with the gmpc gui, set my "music_directory" in /etc/mpd.conf to the location of all of my music (which contains lots of other folders and subfolders), but there's no listing of the audio files in the database in gmpc.
Here's the /etc/mpd.conf if that helps:
    # An example configuration file for MPD
    # See the mpd.conf man page for a more detailed description of each parameter.
    # Files and directories #######################################################
    # This setting controls the top directory which MPD will search to discover the
    # available audio files and add them to the daemon's online database. This
    # setting defaults to the XDG directory, otherwise the music directory will be
    # be disabled and audio files will only be accepted over ipc socket (using
    # file:// protocol) or streaming files over an accepted protocol.
    music_directory "/var/lib/mpd/music"
    # This setting sets the MPD internal playlist directory. The purpose of this
    # directory is storage for playlists created by MPD. The server will use
    # playlist files not created by the server but only if they are in the MPD
    # format. This setting defaults to playlist saving being disabled.
    playlist_directory "/var/lib/mpd/playlists"
    # This setting sets the location of the MPD database. This file is used to
    # load the database at server start up and store the database while the
    # server is not up. This setting defaults to disabled which will allow
    # MPD to accept files over ipc socket (using file:// protocol) or streaming
    # files over an accepted protocol.
    db_file "/var/lib/mpd/mpd.db"
    # These settings are the locations for the daemon log files for the daemon.
    # These logs are great for troubleshooting, depending on your log_level
    # settings.
    # The special value "syslog" makes MPD use the local syslog daemon. This
    # setting defaults to logging to syslog, otherwise logging is disabled.
    log_file "/var/log/mpd/mpd.log"
    # This setting sets the location of the file which stores the process ID
    # for use of mpd --kill and some init scripts. This setting is disabled by
    # default and the pid file will not be stored.
    pid_file "/var/run/mpd/mpd.pid"
    # This setting sets the location of the file which contains information about
    # most variables to get MPD back into the same general shape it was in before
    # it was brought down. This setting is disabled by default and the server
    # state will be reset on server start up.
    state_file "/var/lib/mpd/mpdstate"
    # The location of the sticker database. This is a database which
    # manages dynamic information attached to songs.
    #sticker_file "~/.mpd/sticker.sql"

    # This setting specifies the user that MPD will run as. MPD should never run as
    # root and you may use this setting to make MPD change its user ID after
    # initialization. This setting is disabled by default and MPD is run as the
    # current user.
    user "mpd"
    # This setting specifies the group that MPD will run as. If not specified
    # primary group of user specified with "user" setting will be used (if set).
    # This is useful if MPD needs to be a member of group such as "audio" to
    # have permission to use sound card.

    # This setting sets the address for the daemon to listen on. Careful attention
    # should be paid if this is assigned to anything other then the default, any.
    # This setting can deny access to control of the daemon.

    # This setting controls the type of information which is logged. Available
    # setting arguments are "default", "secure" or "verbose". The "verbose" setting
    # argument is recommended for troubleshooting, though can quickly stretch
    # available resources on limited hardware storage.

Thanks, I successfully launched mpd as a user and it detected all of my music. However, if I launch mpd with the mpd.conf that I created in my home directory, it launches, but outputs the following:
    [vladislav@vladislav .mpd]$ mpd ~/.mpd/mpd.conf
listen: bind to '0.0.0.0:6600' failed: Address already in use (continuing anyway, because binding to '[::]:6600' succeeded)
    Is this normal?
*sigh* i answer this for the 3rd time in a row... this is no error it just says that binding to your ipv6 interface happened before the binding to ipv4.
If you want to use your ipv4 interface hardcode it in mpd.conf
    bind_to_address "127.0.0.1"
you can also have several binds:
    bind_to_address "127.0.0.1"
    bind_to_address "192.168.1.13"
to make it listen on localhost and the external IP of your network card.
If your music is on the same machine as your mpd i recommend to use a unix socket in addition.
    bind_to_address "/path/to/some/file/that/does/not/exist/yet"
and make your client connect to that file instead of the IP. Speeds things up a log e.g. in ncmpcpp
and btw: you can save your mpd.conf file as ~/.mpdconf and mpd will automatically use it.

  • [SOLVED] Files in the /tmp directory are being deleted

    Hi,
I've been using Arch Linux for four weeks, but have now come across a problem which I can't fix after trying to search for a solution (and also checking to see if anyone also had the same problem). I would appreciate any help you can give.
A few days ago the web browsers I use (chromium and opera) lost their profile settings, and I had to set the profiles. This kept happening and the indicator of the problem was that I use profile-sync-daemon for both web browsers, which uses the /tmp directory. I then started noticing that a file I created in /tmp disappeared which pointed me to the fact that something was cleaning up the /tmp directory (this seems to happen hourly).
A quick search led me to systemd-tmpfiles and the /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/tmp.conf file. I have not modified the file, and if I have read it correctly only files in the /tmp directory that are more than 10 days old are deleted. I boot every day, so no files should be deleted by systemd-tmpfiles (unless I've misunderstood tmpfiles.d).
Here is the tmp.conf file anyway:
    $ cat /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/tmp.conf
    # This file is part of systemd.
    # systemd is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it
    # under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License as published by
    # the Free Software Foundation; either version 2.1 of the License, or
    # (at your option) any later version.
    # See tmpfiles.d(5) for details
    # Clear tmp directories separately, to make them easier to override
    d /tmp 1777 root root 10d
    d /var/tmp 1777 root root 30d
    # Exclude namespace mountpoints created with PrivateTmp=yes
    x /tmp/systemd-private-*
    x /var/tmp/systemd-private-*
    X /tmp/systemd-private-*/tmp
    X /var/tmp/systemd-private-*/tmp
The /etc/tmpfiles.d directory is empty, so /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d is the only location for the tmpfiles.d config files:
    $ ls /etc/tmpfiles.d/
    $
Here is the list of packages I upgraded/installed for the last few days. systemd 207-3 seems the likeliest candidate, but I have not come across any reports about the problem I am having.

I think I have found the problem.
There was a gnome update earlier in the week. gnome-settings-daemon runs an hourly housekeeping job. I had set the "Automatically Purge Temporary Files" in the Privacy tab when setting up my laptop last month.
gnome-settings-daemon has decided to delete files in the /tmp directory (I can trigger this by clicking "Purge Temporary files" which then deletes my files in the /tmp directory). This does not happen in the previous gnome-settings-daemon. Anyway, I'll mark the thread SOLVED if my file in the /tmp directory survives the hour!

  • Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of Active Directory: Could not find information about the local site

Have an existing ex2010 sp3 organization.
Could not run ex2013cu1 setup from my newly built 2012 server, getting the error in the subject line.  I used the command line to run the AD preparation steps successfully from my 2012 DC/GC, then tried to run setup again from the new 2012 server and
still get the same error.  The error itself in the log is pretty useless:

Because it was not possible to apply a gradient to a stroke in CS5. When you open the file in CS5, it is reduced to something that can be rendered in CS5.

  • [Solved] a.out not recognizing the working directory

It's a little bit embarrassing because this issue doesn't seem terribly complicated, but I'm having trouble with executing the a.out file (Hello World) that gcc produces. I have to explicitly state the directory that a.out is in to run it, even though it's in the working directory. Other programs, such as Nano, recognize the working directory just fine and it is able to open files inside the working directory without having me explicitly state the full directory name.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest and most secure way would be using the relative path to the executable:
    ./a.out
If you use a single directory for writing/testing your programs, you could add it to your user PATH. Not a major security risk, but if you do so, be careful what executables are in the dir.
    ~/.bashrc (or ~/.bash_profile):
    [[ -d ~/cpp ]] && export PATH="$PATH:~/cpp"
Adding the current working directory to PATH is a security risk, so I wouldn't recommend it.

  • About the cache's directory name

We have deployed our application through webstart, but we meet a problem.
Our application will access a directory and seach all files in the directory, but when the client download the application through the webstart, the directory name in the cache is different with the server-side directory name.
For example, the original directory name is: patch, but the directory name in the cache is: DMpatch, so the application can not find the directory now.
How can i get the exact directory name in the cache ignoring the auto added prefix "DM".
    Thank you very much!

  • About the template FSCM9.1 FP2 Peopletools 8.52.03 (v4 - July 2012)

    Hello,
Just tested quickly this new template delivered 2 months ago (July 2012).
As far as I undestand, it is just a recut of the one delivered in April 2012. At least it solves the main issue I reported in that other About the template FSCM9.1 FP2 Peopletools 8.52.03 (v3) about the network prompt missing.
But I still have remarks/issues on the template FSCM9.1 FP2 Peopletools 8.52.03 (v4) released earlier in July 2012.

...Well, I don't know if it triggers others problems yet, but the last line could reveale an error within the /etc/hosts file which has not been properly modified during deployment (especially IPV6, it probably should be removed) :
    [root@psovmfscmfp2 /]# more /etc/hosts

[root@psovmfscmfp2 /]#_2. Now about the COBOL_
Despite I choosed to install Microfocus, COBOL does not work. Sample COBOL processes such as PTPDBTST and PTPDTTST finished in error.
The log is empty, here below the output from the file $PS_CFG_HOME/psft/pt/8.52/appserv/prcs/PRCSDOM/LOGS/stdout (psadm2) :
    =================================Error===============================
Message:     Process 10899 is marked 'Initiated' or 'Processing' but can not detect status of PID
            Process Name: PTPDBTST
            Process Type: COBOL SQL
            Session Id:   9313
    =====================================================================
OprId = VP1Note that I successfully tested AEs and SQRs.
Here is the command line fired that I can see from the process monitor > parameter (nga is being my run control id) :
PSRUN PTPDBTST ORACLE/F91TMPLT/VP1/OPRPSWD/nga/10899//0 I used the following trace setting on the PTPDBTST's process parameter (override) to see what happens :
%%DBTYPE%%/%%DBNAME%%/%%OPRID%%/%%OPRPSWD%%/%%RUNCNTLID%%/%%INSTANCE%%//%%DBFLAG%%But it does not generate more logs...
I also use "RCCBL Redirect =1" in psappsrv.cfg (reconfigure and restart appdom), then start the COBOL through menu PeopleTools > Utilities > Debug > PeopleTools Test Utilities, and run a "Remote Call Test".
I received "COBOL Program PTPNTEST aborted (2,-1) FUNCLIB_UTIL.RC_TEST_PB.FieldChange PCPC:2143 Statement:26", but it generated two empty files (PTPNTEST_VP1_0913064910.out and PTPNTEST_VP1_0913064910.err).
Next step, checking the folder $PS_HOME/cblbin, it is...er... empty... does this mean COBOL have not been compiled ? Hmmm, I'm pretty sure I replied 'yes' when it was prompted though (still have the screenshots)...
And we can see several folders dated from today and license seems ok from Microfocus directories :

To resume what I did to make the COBOLs working on this PSOVM :
    1. As root, start LMF (this has to be done only once)
    cd /opt/oracle/psft/pt/cobol/microfocus
    ./mflmman
    2. As psadm1, set proper env. variable and compile (setting env variable has to be done each time you want to compile COBOLs)
    export COBDIR=/opt/oracle/psft/pt/cobol/svrexp-51_wp4-64bit
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$COBDIR/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export PATH=$COBDIR/bin:$PATH
    cd $PS_HOME/setup
    ./pscbl.mak
    ./psrun.mak
    3. As psadm2, set proper env. variable and reconfigure psprcs.cfg, restart, restart (setting env variable has to be done each time you want to start the process scheduler, so probably better to append these in the .bash_profile)
    export COBDIR=/opt/oracle/psft/pt/cobol/svrexp-51_wp4-64bit
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$COBDIR/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export PATH=$COBDIR/bin:$PATH
    cd $PS_HOME/appserv
    ./psadmin
    4. Same as step 2, but with user psadm3.
    HTH,
    Nicolas.
PS: will it be the same issue on the HCM template delivered at the same time ? To be tested as well.
PS2: and yes, I tested it twice before posting, result is same.
Edited by: N Gasparotto on Sep 13, 2012 5:17 PM

Fortunately, the COBOL issue does not exist on PSOVM HCM9.1 FP2 PT8.52.06 delivered in July 2012 (v3). COBOL are properly compiled (tools and app COBOLs), cblbin is not empty and they run successfully on the first shot.
    Nicolas.
