AC power present and standby outputs on????

A new client has an Xserve RAID that we just updated to firmware rev 1.5. It had not been connected to the UPS via the UPS Inteface Port. A few days ago, the local power went out overnight. When my client returned in the morning, the Xserve RAID was not running. The following morning, my client started up the Xserve RAID, and observed a red power supply indicator on the front panel, and a blinking green light on the right-hand Power supply. According to the Xserver RAID User's Guide, this indicates, "AC power present and standby outputs on." What does this mean in (plain) English, and what do we need to do to fix it?

The blinking green LED indicates that the unit has power, but that the unit isn't powered up (it is, however, available on the network so you can start it up via RAID admin). This is normal.
The red LED, however, is a problem. This indicates that there's no power coming through the relevant PSU. Either the power feed to the PSU is dead, or the power supply unit itself has failed. Check the cable connection to the power supply and check whether it's live.

  • CDC API for power supply and standby

    Hi to all,
i have to wake up a java application developed under CDC when the PocketPC is under standby. Example: i have a timer, operator turn standby on pocket pc, and after that time i have to wake up the pocket pc. I do not have problems to develop in C++ and with JNI, so can anyone give me some information to resolv that problem?
    Thanks,

Well on the backsite this product has audio out but not power, only the iphone connector.
If I want to use this station in one place only and not for syncing, I will have to buy another iPhone USB cable and another wall to USB adapter (altough I have come at home from other products).
Is there no dock that will not require some special iPhone cable?

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.

  • I am making my first keynote presentation.  I transferred the slides from a power point.  I did not use a 'theme' from keynote.  Keynote will not let me 'name' the presentation and the 'save as' option will not come up in the menu.  What have I done wrong

I am making my first keynote presentation.  I transferred the slides from a power point.  I did not use a 'theme' from keynote.  Keynote will not let me 'name' the presentation and the 'save as' option will not come up in the menu.  What have I done wrong

When it comes to Keynote, I try and start with a presentation that's 1680 x 1050 preset or something in that range.  Most projectors that you'll get at a conference won't project much higher than that and if they run at a lower resolution, it's better to have the device downsize your Keynote.  Anything is better than having the projector try and upsize your presentation... you work hard to make it look good, and it's mangled by some tired Epson projector.
As far as slides go, scan them in at 150 dpi or better, and make them at least the dimensions of your presentation.  Keynote is really only wanting 72dpi, but I do them at 150, just in case I need to print out the presentation as a handout later, and having the pix at 150 dpi gives me a little help with their quality on a printer.
You'd probably have to drop in the 150 versions again if you output the Keynote to .pdf or Word or something, but at least you have the option.
And Gary's right (above) go ahead and scan them as TIFFs.  Sooner or later you'll want to do something else with these slides (like make something for an iPad or the like) and having them as TIFFs keeps your presentation looking good.
Finally, and this is a big one, get to the location for your presentation ahead of time if you can, and plug the laptop in and see what you get.  There's always connection problems. Don't let the AV bonehead tell you everything will work just fine ('... I don't have any adapters for a Mac...') .  See it for yourself... you're the one that's standing up there.  Unless it's your boss, then you better be really sure it works.

  • Can I save a keynote presentation in Power Point and then use the power point on my Macbook?

My library has a Toshiba TW 650 projector that is used by PCs. I am going to be giving a presentation created on Keynote.
My DVI-VGA connector did not work for my 2009 Macbook to the projector. Can I sve the Keynote presentation to power point and then
show the presentation on a PC with the Power Point version?

    Hello redffox,
You can export the project to a .PPT file as outlined here: Keynote '09: Creating a PowerPoint slideshow http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3698
    To create a PowerPoint slideshow:
Choose Share > Export, click PPT (PowerPoint) and then click Next.
Type a name and choose a location for the file, and then click Export.
    Additional Information
Note: PowerPoint doesn’t support some Keynote features:
Some bulleted text items may be lost. If you hide the bulleted text on a slide (by deselecting Body in the Slide inspector), it is deleted from the outline when you export.
PowerPoint doesn’t support alpha-channel graphics, so if you use a photo cutout frame, the image behind it will appear in front. You may also notice slight variations in other graphics.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

    They do.
Standby = press the Power button
Power off = Press and hold Power button then slide the red power off slider.
Reset = Press and hold both Reset adn Home till you see the Apple logo.
This option will help to avoid pressing power button less number of times and gives better user experience.
Because it is better to not push the power button and more enjoyable to not push it?

  • I am considering buying a MBA but i need to do word processing, making power point presentations, and also to use publisher for work, does the MBA have the ability to do these things, if so will I be able to continue with work done on a MBA with a PC?

I am considering buying a mac book air and I was wondering if I can still do word processing, make powerpoint presentations and use publisher like i would on a PC? Also if I can then would I be able to continue with work done on the mac book on a PC and all the computers at school are not macs ?

I am using the 11" MBA with Office 2011 (with latest updates).  The form factor is great for travel.
Powerpoint presentations work well, but there are some issues with creating a presentation under OSX then continuing editing under Windows (Powerpoint 2010).  I've experienced problems with custom backgrounds not rendering correctly while editing slides under Windows when the original presentation was created under OSX.  If you stick with the "standard" themes I imagine you'll be OK.
Also, there is a major drawback in that there is no IR port on the new MBA(s).  Therefore, you cannot use an Apple Remote to control a slide show.  Yes, there is an app for the iPhone that can control a Keynote slide presentation using Bluetooth, but since I haven't tried it, I cannot say if that app will work for Mac Powerpoint 2011.
What is really needed is an "Apple Bluetooth Remote".  (please, if anyone from Apple is listening...)
Your only option to run Publisher is to run Windows in a virtual machine (e.g. Fusion or Parallels) with Publisher installed as there is no Mac version.
I run Fusion with Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 configured as a workstation and Office 2010 as my main travel machine and it is very responsive.  Even using Windows Aero Theme which is knowned to be graphics intensive.

  • PSU showing Power save and overall status : N/A

    Hi,
In UCS chassis 5108,we noticed a 2 PSU was faulty to check properly  we swapped a cable and one of the PSU came up but another PSU was on same status. so we raised PSU and replaced it, but the overall status of the PSU was N/A and its not glowing green LED. Its blinking the Green LED but not continuous glow.
    Please find the attached snap.
    ./Anandraj

    Hi Anandraj,
What´s your configuration on power groups and firmware version? N+1 or Grid?1.x or 2.x?
The Blinking green led and status power-save,  I belived this one is a standby.
When you configure N+1, two PSU work and one Standby mode then If you configure Grid all PSU work together and all Green LED  are glowing.
Follow below documantion with Power Group configuration:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/gui/config/guide/141/UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_141_chapter29.html#concept_B17F97D8074A4CB590309E3E8C8DD9F9
    PS:
I found this information below, too.
The power supply is providing no power to the system but can be powered up
quickly in the event of another power supply failing. This mode saves power
    in two ways:
    1. It reduces the power consumption of the PSU, as there is no output the PSU
only requires a small amount of power to keep the capacitors charged and
    circuitry active.
    2. It increases the load on the remaining PSUs shifting them further on their
    efficiency curves.

  • What is the diffrence between ' Contolfile ' and ' Standby Controlfile' ???

    Hi Guru's,
Can someone please help me out with the diffrences between a 'Control File' and 'Standby Controlfile'.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Girish

Kind of reply you can always expect from Sybrand...anyways...the controlfile of any production database would always be having a bit in itself which identifies a database as a primary or a standby database, so whenever you try to query select database_role from v$database; for any production database it would always give output as PRIMARY and for a standby it would always give output as PHYSICAL STANDBY..Hope it clears your doubts

  • Product for presenting ABAP report output in Dashboard Presentation

    <u>Background</u>
Monash University environment is SAP ERP  ECC6 - no BW. The University has undertaken considerable analysis of spend as part of developing a strategic approach to procurement.  The data used to undertake this analysis was extracted from SAP MM and FI using a developed ABAP report which collates, categorizes and consolidates all spend information from MM (for our Purchase Order based commitment and expenditure) and FI (for direct invoices and  Corporate Credit Card expenditure).  This information  is then currently exported to MS-Excel to produce a report containing graphs, pie charts etc.
    <u>Requirement</u>
To present output from our Spend Analysis Report  in a more readable dashboard type presentation. This facility should allow easy manipulation (slice and dice) and drill down of the data..  Our requirement is to have something operating within a very short time-frame, say within a month or two. Although you might suggest Web Dynpro Business Graphic or SEM /BW (as the optimal solution) we understand the  set up time for either of these solutions is prohibitive.  Visual Composer has been suggested as another option but we have no in-house expertise to determine if this is a viable solution.
Some colleagues visited a  conference a couple of weeks ago and saw a demonstration of a product call XenoCube  http://www.inlogik.com/downloads/XenoCube_Brochure.pdf
which was proposed as a quick way to present SAP 'raw' report output in a more readable form.  Other solutions in this space that have been suggested include:-
    Zycus - Actionable Spend Analysis – Zycus.com
    Emptoris Spend Analysis  - emptoris.com
    ONIQUA Enterprise Analytics– oniqua.com.au
    Ariba Buyer – ariba.com
    SAS Spend Analysis – sas.com
    Etesius – SpendGuardian  etesius.com
Can anyone provide advice as to their experience of SAP solution, integrated partner products or any of the about products to satisfy a similar requirement to that which I have outlined?  The main selection criteria will include a product which is:
    a) quick & easy to implement,
    b)  presentation and manipulation of ABAP extracted data
    c) is scalable and
    d)  is reasonably priced.
Grateful for any advice regarding a solution .
    Thank-you

  • How do I use LabVIEW to control and vary the voltage on my Agilent Power Supply and simultaneously record temp from 1 DMM and voltage from another DMM?

I am using an Agilent Power Supply  to apply a voltage to a
thermistor to heat an Al chassis.  I want to use LabVIEW to tell
the power supply to apply 5V for 10 minutes, then step to 7V for 10
minutes, etc.  I am completely new to LabVIEW, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
In addition to that, I want to place a type J thermocouple onto the Al
surface and use a Keithley 2000 DMM to monitor the temperature (it has
a built in conversion from V to Temp for type J).  I will also be
using another Kelthley 2000 DMM to record the output voltage of a new
uncalibrated thermocouple.  I would like to collect the output
voltage for this uncalibrated thermocouple and the temperature reading
from the type J simultaneously.  How should I go about doing this
in LabVIEW?  I will be using version 6.1.  The power supply
and DMMs will be connected to a PC using GPIB.
Again any suggestions would be greatly appreciated- I have no idea
where to begin on such a project.  I have taught myself how to
make a basic VI- converting temp in oC to oF, but  that is as far
    as my knowledge goes.

What you want to do should be fairly straightward and a good way to learn labview.
First off, if you haven't already, I would download the drivers for the Keithley and Agilent instruments.  I found the keithley drivers at the link below.  You will need to find the labview drivers for the Agilent PS at their website.  Drivers are the VI's you will use in your program to control the insturments.
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_guid=E3B19B3E90B0659CE034080020E74861
If you open Labview and go to the help menu and click on Labview bookshelf there is alot of information on getting you started coding labview.   This should get you started, if you have anymore questions just ask in this same thread and I am sure you will get all the help you need.

  • Yoga 2 Pro, Etekcity 16Ah power bank and some additional measurements

Hello guys, this would be my short review of Etekcity Wingman external battery I use with y2p. As you know, the y2p battery performance is a little disappointing for a Haswell ultrabook (at least for some), so it's a good idea to have some additional external battery beforehand. After some research I found the interesting candidate, the 16.000 mAh external battery manufactured somewhere in chinese factory (Shenzen?) and then being sold under many different brands (I found at least 5 of them on Amazon). I bought the Etekcity Wingman, as it was the cheapest, for 69$
No links here, but you will find it easily. It has a classy aluminium shell, very good overall build quality, features 5V USB output and additional 12, 16 and 19V outputs with many different plugs. There is no rectangular Lenovo Yoga tip, but in the package you can find the Lenovo X1 big circular plug. So you need an additional converter Cable Adapter from Lenovo, part no. 0B47046 and voila, everything fits.
This external battery can provide up to 19V and as you are aware, y2p needs 20V. But this is not a problem, it's only 5% difference and nothing to be worry about. As to the amperage, the battery can provide max 3A at 19V and y2p original power adapter is rated at 3.25A - but this is not a problem either, as during my actual measurements I never saw the current more than 3A (more about it later).
16.000 mAh for li-po cells 3,7V gives about 59Wh of power capacity and this is important. The internal y2p battery is rated 54Wh, so 'theoretically' the external battery should more than double our y2p working time. Well, theoretically, because: 1. as for chinese products they almost always overrate battery specs 2. there is a limited efficiency for internal voltage conversion inside the battery electronics, so there are some losses (heat).
So, what is the REAL capacity of this thing?
I did a test. I depleted internal y2p battery to 20% and then I plugged in the Etekcity Wingman, set at 19V. It was able to charge the WORKING laptop for 1 hour and 25 minutes and y2p battery charged from 20% to 85% before the Wingman shut down. It was a little warm while working, but not hot at all (aluminium shell dissipates heat very good).
What it means is that this external battery was able to provide about 2/3 (65%) of total internal y2p battery capacity and during that time the laptop was working consuming additional energy from the Wingman (70% brightness, wifi/BT on, some light browsing, nothing demanding). I am estimating that if the y2p was depleted completely and shut down, then the external battery would be able to charge it to about 80-85%. I find this result pretty good.
So if you are able to achieve some 6.5h on internal y2p battery, this external battery gives you another 5h more, for total 11.5h working time out of the socket. Not bad.
I have a laboratory digital power source, so I was able to do some additional interesting measurements (thanks to the cables and adapters):
    1. The Yoga 2 Pro starts charging at about 16.5V voltage level(!) Anything lower - it won't charge, higher - it will (no BIOS warnings whatsoever).
    2. The charging current for non-working laptop is about 1.6A (I did not set quick charge at Energy Manager).
    3. 70% brightness, "daily" power mode, wifi/BT on, keyboard lighting on and doing some lazy internet browsing needs about 470mA of current (averaged, idle is about 415 mA, as each wifi activity creates current jumps). For 20V it gives 9.4 Wh of power consumption and for 54Wh y2p internal battery it gives about 5h 45min of working time. Lets set this situation as a "base" level.
    4. Same as above, but power mode changed to "stable". Yellow turns mustard, but brightness intensity remains at 70%. The current goes down to about 420mA (50mA less!). It gives you additional 40 minutes for a total 6h 25min of working time.
    5. Same as above, but keyboard light is off. About 20mA of savings, + 15 min for a total 6h 40 min
    6. Same as above, airplane mode (wifi/BT off) - another 20mA of savings (not much), but there are no wifi current spikes so it's like idle mode - about 330mA of current consumption, giving about 8h 15min of working (word editing etc.)
    7. Same as above, 50% brightness (still pretty usable) - 305mA for a total 8h 50min of working time.
    8. Same as above, but with 16.000 mAh external battery - well, you figure it out (+80%)
    Happy New Year!

20V/3.25A means that if looking for an external power bank for your y2p the voltage must be exactly 20V and the amperage must be 3.25A or more (3.25 is minimum value). These are perfect values.
But in real world some little deviances are permissible, like 5%. 19V and 3A are examples and I made sure that my external battery rated 19V/3A works good with Yoga 2 Pro. There are more 19V external power banks than 20V models out there and I've chosen my Wingman battery because it was really cheap. But it is always better to find one that meets voltage/amperage ratings perfectly.
The Energizer XP18000 would be a perfect choice, because it can provide 20V/3.5A. But I dont know if the Lenovo plug is inside the package. And it's expensive.
The "big circular plug" is 7.9 x 5.4 x 0.9mm plug for some other Lenovo machines, like Carbon X1. I never found an external power bank with "rectangular" y2p plug anyway.
