Accelerating distance between object in blend mode

Hi,
I have two circles and have used the blend command/tool to create 20 new circles between the original two.
Does anyone know how I can change the spacing between each circle so that the spacing increases from left to right.
I have tried to illustrate the effect i want below.
ooo o o o  o   o    o     o      o       o          o            o               o                               o
Thanks,
D

D,
Here is a new way, with true acceleration, which may be difficult to obtain with the solutions posted so far:
1) Create a vertical stroke/nofill line (you may use the Line segment Tool);
2) Effect>Distort & Transform>Transform>Scale horizontally by the percentage (120 or whatever) needed to get the right acceleration, and set the Move to the first distance and the number of copies as desired;
You may Undo and redo until you have the lines right;
3) Object>Expand Appearance, then Ungroup twice;
4) Effect>Convert To Shape, select Ellipse, and set the Absolute values to the desired Width and Height.
5) Object>Expand Appearance if you wish to have independent circles.

  • Increase distance between objects w/o resizing the objects

    Is it posible to increase distance between objects in illustrator cs3 without resizing the individual objects?
    For example, I have a series of circles separated from one another by about 20 pixels, aligned into a grid-like formation.  I would like to increase or decrease the distance of the circles from one another, without changing the size of the circles themselves.
    Thanks,
    Regina

    As Chris said, use the Distribute functions of the Align Palette. Assume a 5 x 5 array of circles separated by 20 points in each direction. You now want the array spacing to be 30 points.
    1. Black Pointer: drag a marquee selection across the top row of 5. Then click once on the leftmost one.
    2. Align Palette: Show Options. In the distance field of the Distribute area, enter 30. Click the Distribute Horiizontally button.
    3. Select and group each of the other four rows.
    4. Select the four rows and one of the top row's circles. Click once again on the selected top row circle.
    5. Align Palette: Make sure the 30 value is still there. Click the Distribute Vertically button.

  • Smart Object and blend mode issue

    I have an object that I moved from another image and needed to resize. The object is an image of a bottle and glass, with both the bottle and glass having reflections from their base. They both also have some layer masks with the reflections. I grouped the glass and bottle and created a smat object before the move to the new file). Anyway everything worked fine, except the reflections are much stonger in the new file (they are sitting over the same colored backgrond as in the original. If I open up the smart object and put a background behind the images  and the reflections (background is transparent)everthing looks as they should. The reflections have a blend mode of multiply).
    So why does the smart object not render the reflections properly (without lowering the opacity more within the smart object group) they appear almost at 100% in the new file. Any suggestions?
    Can't post the files as this happened at work.
    Thanks
    Jeff

    Anything to do with soft proofing?  Does the new document have the same colour space as the original?

  • Question about stacked objects using blend modes

    Say there are three stacked objects. The two topmost have a blend mode.
    In the area where all 3 intersect, the bottom object interacts with the transparency. Is there a way to limit how many levels the transparency affects? If you could limit it to two levels, then in the area where all three intersect the bottom object wouldn't participate in the blending. But in the areas where it overlaps only one of the topmost objects, it would participate.
    I know this can be achieved by creating another object, or using the Pathfinder, I'd just like to know if there is a simpler method to use.

    The attached PDF explains this better. Page 1 - the yellow and magenta are multiplied on top. But the cyan in not participating in the area where all 3 overlap. But in the areas with only 2 levels, it does participate, so there are the green and blue overlaps.
    Since the cyan is negated from the one area, the result is red – yellow and magenta multiplying
    The problem is, the only way to get this is to punch a hole in the cyan. So when you move the yellow and magenta around, the red doesn't follow (see page 2)
    It would be nice if the blend modes included some sort of level limit. Default would be unlimited, but you could change it to 2 or whatever number you want. In this case if the level was 2, no hole in the cyan would be required.
    As far as I know Adobe has not added to transparency capabilities for a long time. You have the 16 bend modes, and opacities. And knock out group and isolate blending, which are good features. But maybe it's time to expand on this and add more points of control.

  • Scaling distance between objects (ill CC)

    Hello people!
    i have a pattern with different sized objects. i would like to change the overall appearance by keeping the size of the objects, but changing the distances between the objects.
    -> scaling the overall size of the pattern, but not the size of the objects

    bobster,
    In this case, you may create the pattern in a quite different way and just scale once according to need:
    1) Create a square of arbitrary size with no fill and a Stroke Weight equalling the dot size;
    2) Object>Path>Average, with Both ticked;
    Now you have the first dot;
    3) Create the pattern by copying, maybe through the Effect option followed by expanding;
    4) Just scale up as desired.
    This is most relevant in connexion with (possibly) repeated different scalings.

  • Distance between objects

    I am using the Circle Distance example.vi (attached) and I want to improve the code. Imagine a picture with 4 circles. So instead of measuring the distance between one circle and 2 circles (VI example), I want to measure the distance between 1 circle and 3 circles ( see the picture attached).
    How I can do that?

    If you look through the code it uses the IMAQ point distances VI to "[Compute] the distance between consecutive pairs of points."
    What you want to do is essentially the same thing, but with a different set of inputs.
    You just need to repeat some of your points to get the full combination.
    Instead of just which is what I think the given example does1-2 2-3 1-3  (if you decrease the accuracy so it catches you squares you'll obviously go higher than 3)
    You could do 1-2,1-3,1-4 , 2-3, 2-4, 3-4
    I don't have time right now to confirm this is how it works, or a way to do this however.

  • Is there a way to get the result of using multiple blending modes in one object?

    Hello,
    I wonder if there's a way to merge multiple objects with blending modes to one object. Here is the example:
    On the left rhere are three objects with the same appearence but different blending modes(color dodge, normal, overlay), on the right they are overlapped, which are still three object. I'm looking for the way to have the same result as the right overlapped one, but as one object. Having the same multiple objects only for the result of color blending mode uses too much memory for my computer.
    Thank you for your help in advance.

    create one object: then in your appearance panel, duplicate the fill twice. Select the top fill and expand the sub menu, click on opacity, choose blending mode. repeat.

  • Blend Mode doesn't hold in Smart Object

    Here's the scenario:
    I'm building a web page, lot's of layers and groups. I want to clean things up by converting some groups into smart objects.
    Here's the Problem:
    Within some of the group folders are layers with a blend mode assigned, like Darken. When I convert the group to a Smart Object the blend mode on those layers doesn't hold.
    Screen grabs:
    Hopefully these will make it clear in cas I haven't explained it well.
    Original with layers
    Group converted to Smart Object
    Bland mode applied to Smart Object
    I figured out why it happens, I want to know if there's a way around it other then don't do it.
    TIA,
    Mike

    Yep, another understandable feature by few who understand, but created by many users -  toy feature for web and print. It can either mean money or murder when handed these files from your bone head customer who assumes anything that can be created shall work with the greatest of ease because marketing told you so.
    Now that's progress intelligently planned.

  • Aliased text on PDF export with blending modes

    So I've had this issue with a pdf, I tried to export it CMYK, RVB, interactive pdf, regular pdf, with tons of different other options, the text was still very aliased.
    I decided to take it back from scratch, openned a new document with the same size, and copied/pasted element after element from the old one to the new one, exporting as pdf between each copy/paste. The first exports went really well, the render was great… until I pasted a vector element that was applied with a blending mode (overlay).
    When I switched it to normal, the pdf export was smooth again. Tried every blending mode, everyone makes the text jaggy. Switch back, it's ok. So I'm 100% sure that this comes from blending modes, as opposed to what I could have read on other forums.
    This is a request, please, InDesign team, take care of this problem, this is quite annoying in many cases.
    Thank you for your attention!

    To minmize the possibility of rasterizing or outlining text when transparency is flattened, keep the text above any transparent objects. Blending modes, along with most effects, use transparency.
    You can also minimize the risk by exporting the PDF with live transparency, which is supported in Acrobat 5 or higher compatibility.

  • Blend mode and saving a style

    I am trying to save a 'style' with an element that has a 'blend mode' defined. Every time I define the style and apply to a new object the blend mode is not set.
    Is 'blend mode' part of a saved style ?? If not, it should be...

    Styles include fills, strokes, and effects (as well as text attributes, if there are any) but not the opacity or blend mode of an object. If you click on the New Style button, you can see what's included in a style definition and selectively include or exclude items.

  • Distance between two objects

    Hi folks,
    Who knows how I can discover the distance between two selected objects without using neither guides nor grids?
    Thanks.

    How do imagine this would working without using guides or grids? The way I normally do it is:
    1. Drag out a guide to point A
    2. Drag out a guide to point B
    3. Hold shift and put the mouse cursoe between the two -- it shows you the distance
    You could also use the measuring tool (click and hold the rectangle tool in the tool pallette.)
    Or even just draw a rectangle and look at the width in the property panel. That's a fast and easy method I use sometimes.

  • Why isn't it letting me apply blending modes to 3D objects?

         Hello, I have had a problem with After Effects, it is not letting me use blending modes on 3D layers? Any Help? Here is the video I am following After Effects Tutorial - Create 3D Text onto live action Footage HD - YouTube

    Blending modes are not one of the features that you can use with the ray-traced 3D renderer.
    The list of limitations of the ray-traced 3D renderer appears when you first switch a composition to use the ray-traced 3D renderer.

  • Blend Mode Selection in Photoshop minor difference between platforms

    Guys you REALLY need to do something about this asap. I don't know if it's a mac/pc problem or if it's a CS6 problem. I have been working with photoshop on PC for the past 9 years or so. I recently had to switch to CS6 on Mac.
    I can no longer place my cursor in the blend modes field and use arrow keys to quickly toggle through them to find the ideal mode. I used to be able to preview 15 blend modes in just 5-6 seconds and land on the ideal mode... and get on with my project. NOW i have to click this button and click again on each blend mode... lengthening my process by up to 2 minutes. This is an ENORMOUS problem for me as choosing blend modes is critical in my day to day design work.
    See the menu right next to it where you can type in the opacity? I can put my cursor in there and use arrow keys to adjust values. Blend mode NEEDS to work this way too. And this is on a mac. You simply HAVE to do something here. productivity impacted severely.
    Also.. this problem exists in After Effects CS5 on pc. Let's get it fixed there too. I will hand-write you a letter of praise and send flowers if you can do this.

    That could be because some readers are blinded by the white background and shiny badge of MVP and Staff posts.
    If not, then it's strange that nobody is interested in working out why the OP has the problem or how to restore correct behaviour to his/her installation.
    I can tell you the rationale behind my post, if it helps. The original poster's real goal was to "...preview 15 blend modes in just 5-6 seconds and land on the ideal mode... and get on with my project."
    On my Mac, I can certainly click in the menu and use the arrow key to go up and down, as conroy said. But what that does not do is apply the blend mode, unless I also press Return. But pressing Return kicks you out of the menu so you have to start the click/arrow/Enter cycle again, which is a long way just to try the next blend mode. So while the superficial reading of the problem says "I can arrow key through the menu, problem solved," it doesn't solve the real goal of "preview 15 blend modes in just 5-6 seconds."
    But Shift+ can, because it saves so many steps over click/arrow/Enter (and because the native OS X pop-up can't do any better). So Shift+ was a more appropriate solution, and the original poster already said it solves their problem.
    If you read the original post, I think what is really going on is a Windows/Mac switcher issue, not an unfixed bug. Windows and Mac pop-up menus work very differently. In Windows, you can enter text into a drop-down list directly and up/down arrow through the list without the menu actually popping up. (For a Mac example, see the Type tool Font and Size menus in the Options bar in Photoshop, which I assume are custom-coded. Compare to the Font and Size menus in Apple Pages or Keynote.) He switches to Mac Photoshop, and Blend Modes menu doesn't work that way. It might never work that way, because native Mac pop-up menus are much more mouse-oriented.
    Now, if there is a verifiable bug in the menu, Adobe should fix it. You might want to make sure it's listed at the Photoshop Feedback site, and add it if it isn't there.

  • Maintain distance between two objects

    hi evryone,
    i am trying to develop a simple car game, and to do that i have to maintain the distance between the two wheels.
    for the collision detection i have used coreyoneil class, which i think is excellent. i cant get the distances to go smoothly. and basically i am finding it hard to get the physics to work. if anyone has an idea what i should do, or has a good example it would be greatly appreaciated.
    i have attached the swf and fla for you to see.
    thanks.

    Basically you can put them together in a sprite, or you might even thing of using box2d or quickbox2d.
