Access, by all users,  to alocally installed applet.

Hi,
A seemingly simple question that I can't find the answer to....
How can I make it possible for all users (windows) to access a cached applet. Due to security issues, the applets need to be installed offline (into the cache)...this has been done, but only for a single user. Is there any location where the jar can be placed that will allow all users' java plugin to pick it up ?
Is there a plugin system cache ?
Thanks,
Michael Dodsworth.

Thanks for the reply, Peter,
I've found a way around it...by placing the jar in /lib/ext, the specified class is found by the classloader and is, therefore, not downloaded. Clearly not a great solution...but for a work-around non the less.
Thanks,
Michael Dodsworth.

  • HELP needed on Remote Management set to allow access for all users

my mac mini snow leopard server runs in a data center and i use screen sharing to interact with it. i played with the sharing settings remotely yesterday and changed "allow access for" to all users. i was disconnected immediately and i couldn't logon again. i have no luck changing to other users. i don't want to make a special trip to the center to change it back to whatever it used to be. i can still use afp to connect but the screen sharing option is no longer available. what does "allow access for all users" mean anyway?
    thanks!

As its name implies, allow access for all should allow any valid user account to access the server. I'm not sure why it's no longer working. It almost sounds like the ARDAgent crashed.
Either way there's a command-line interface to the ARD preferences:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/ki ckstart
man kickstart discusses the options, including examples of how to enable access for specific users.

  • Exchange 2013 Give domain Admin access to all users inbox

In the old 2007 exchange server we had domain admin access to everyones mailbox so we could open anyones email box using outlook client.
But in 2013 exchange the mailbox delegation does not give us the option to add a "group" to the full access area, old allows to add a "user" who has a mailbox setup in exchange. I see there is Exchange Server group listed under Full Access
, but it does not work added our domain Admin user to that group rebooted exchange and the test machine but did not work.
Only option that works to allow mounting of xyz users mailbox via abc admin user is to actually add that abc admin user to the xyz mailbox under mailbox delegation > Full Access.
Is  there a work around this, so we can simply have a group ABCD with user ABC or DEF etc. etc. so they can access everyones mailbox instead of going in and changing all users mailbox delegation one by one for the new user etc. ?

Have you tried using the Exchange Management Shell?
    Get-Mailbox | Add-MailboxPermission -User Name_of_Group -AccessRights FullAccess -InheritanceType All
Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
I did i tried get-mailboxpermission and other than NT Authority and the end user the Deny was set to True for all inheritance rights. I tried your command, added user to the group i wanted under Enterprise OU in AD and restarted transport on exchange and
logged in on the test machine again.
Still no go, the user I am trying to add when using get-mailboxpermission shows up as Denied for fullaccess so is that overriding the group permissions ?
    RunspaceId      : 2xxxxxxx0
    AccessRights    : {FullAccess}
    Deny            : True
    InheritanceType : All
    User            : domain\abc
    Identity        : domain/Users/xyzuser
    IsInherited     : False
    IsValid         : True
    ObjectState     : Unchanged
And for the group i just added with the above abc user inside it:
    RunspaceId      : 2xxxxxxxxx0
    AccessRights    : {FullAccess}
    Deny            : False
    InheritanceType : All
    User            : domain\newgroupadded
    Identity        : domain/Users/xyzuser
    IsInherited     : False
    IsValid         : True
    ObjectState     : Unchanged
So is the users deny is causing this ? Not really sure why ABC domain admin/enterprise admin is the only one listed as no deny, there are other mailbox users that do not show up, I am assuming I have to create a new user a domain local user and that might
work ? I wanted the Domain/Enterprise Manager/admin to have access so we would not have to keep toggling between users just to access someones inbox.
Also further down the list of mailboxpermission i see the user abc (the user i want to add to the group to have access) is listed with Full access and Deny flag is set to False instead of True.
So have two entries for user abc one with deny flag set to true and one with deny flag to false.
    AccessRights    : {FullAccess, DeleteItem, ReadPermission, ChangePermission, ChangeOwner}
    Deny            : False
    InheritanceType : All

  • Universal rw access for all users on any mounted ntfs

So I've added flash drives I commonly use to my fstab and installed ntfs3g-fuse in order to get universal read/write access, but I frequently am either lent other flash drives or I have a friend show up with their flash drive and obviously neither of those are listed in the fstab. Is there some sort of line I can add to it to give any ntfs drive mounted rw,users?
The only help of this sort I can find online is if you already know which volume is to be added, in this case I don't.

I have a group of people that comes over on saturday nights and we pick movies out of a hat...as in, each person brings a flash drive with a movie on it and puts it in a hat. We then draw one flash drive out of the hat, we all take a shot, I use a video game controller as a mouse to start up the movie because I have the keyboard/mouse and the minidesk it's on put away when I am having a party, especially when alcohol/food is out. I don't wanna get the keyboard back out and take a longer amount of time to do this....
I can't really have everyone switch to FAT because most movie files are too big. I could have all mac users switch to hfs+ but probably half the people don't use linux or mac or some nix-based system.
NTFS is 20 years old, I figured someone might have done something to automate this by now beyond awkwardly typing in console commands

  • Limit change access to all useres exept the one that created the document

    Hi,
I wonder if it's possible to limit the change access only to the user that has created the document when it's in a specific status.
This is what the customer wants:
When a document is set to status K the document should be locked and no other users should be able to create a new version.
There should be a admin group that can create new versions and change the document. - This is solved
    Best regards Kristoffer

    Hi Krip,
generally I would recommend you to maintain one status of type 'O' for a document type in your system. This kind of status will allow a second user to display an already checked out original. If user A checks out the original and there is such a status maintained for this document type the system will change the status automatically to this status of type 'O'. Then a second user is able to display the last checked in version of this original in CV03N too. Without such status type the second user is not able to display the checked out file. This was implemented to avoid that two users may be able to change the same original at the same time. I hope this information could be useful for you.

  • Imac - How stop ipad access to all users please?

Just bought the beauuuutiful 27" 3tb fusioned i7 Imac, and incredibly happy, of course
But I notice if a phone or ipad is connected, and user can access it??! Surely there's some way you can assign the ipad/phone to a login to protect it's content?? I don't want my kid messing with my phone/pad if I leave it plugged in. Both phone and ipad are pin locked.
Just wondered! Many thanks in advance for any help at all

Yup, it's the exact same problem I had with Mozy. The developers have not written their software properly for the multi-user OS X platform. As jsd2 says above, software designed to back up a whole system should run with root privileges, and they appear to have written theirs with user privileges instead. Major bug.
You *should not* adjust the permissions of your user folders. That will create security and stability issues. You should contact Memeo support and ask them to fix their broken backup software.
When I tried this with Mozy, they recognized the problem, but told me that it wouldn't be fixed. They told me, as a workaround, to "just log in to each one of your five user accounts individually and run the backup software five times" I immediately cancelled my Mozy subscription and deleted their broken software. I suspect you may very well end up going down the same road with Memeo.

  • How do I set all users to have complete permission access to all other users on a single Macbook?

How do I set all users to have complete permission access to all other users on a single Macbook?  When one user uploads a picture from camera, the other user is told they don't have permission to view.  Same with music.

Go to System preference> accouts>unlock>click+and add name of new user, Adrop dowm window will appear, new Account and set for Admi, fill in their name, to make things even more simple, use the same password for all,if it will allow it. Click ceate account. Click allow user to admin this computer. Then go to sys prefs, sharing and click all the things you want to let everyone use, If you use separeate paswords then each user can set their own preferences. All users can be set as as administrator, click allow access for all users. This will allow every one pretty much the same access.
OH yeah reart the computer sfter added a new user, and test the new login, if it's good coninue.

Please suggest the possible solution to restrict the access of "InPlaceRecordsListSettings.aspx" and "InPlaceRecordsSettings.aspx" pages on SharePoint2013.
    Thanks

You can't do it from OOTB.
_layout folder is accessible to the users if they have read access in any of the site even subsite.
You can modify *.aspx file, add your custom control which will check user.

  • Restricting  Access for SQ01 User Group

    Hi ,
Please let me how to Restrict  Access for a   User Group  to only some of  the specific users?
    Thank you
Edited by: Vibhor Arora on Apr 12, 2010 7:29 AM

    Hi,
Can you please clarify what exactly you want to know, your request can be interpreted in a few different ways.
If you are concerned that people have access to all user groups, then you need to remove access to S_QUERY activity 02 and I think activity 23.  They will lose access to all user groups that they are not assigned to via SQ03.

  • How do I share pictures with all users on iPhoto

We have 4 users in our Mac. I have all the family photos on iPhoto when I log in. The other 3 users can access iPhoto but not the pictures (content), how do I give them access so all users can access the pictures on iPhoto? Thanks

For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

  • Restricting all users

Is there away of using the parental controls and having it apply to all users instead of the current user (we have roaming profiles and want to restrict access for all users).
Unfortunately due to the corporate policy we signed with Apple the icon must remain on the desktop, so we cannot restrict user access that way. We only use for podcasting and want to lock down the rest of the features. Though we are able to restrict the user from sharing music they can override in the parental controls panel.
      Windows XP Pro

    Rigel,
You have several options, but first do you really need to restrict the user from seeing all_users? What risk do you believe this presents?
    Options:
0- Just let them see all_users
1- Create a private synonym under the username that masks the all_users view with a select on user_users.
2- revoke public from all_users; however, Oracle has white papers on the side effects of revoking public on SYS objects so I would suggest you look them over before doing this. You would also potentially need to provide all other users with a grant on the view.
3- modify the all_users view definition to exclude that specific user. I like this idea even less than option 2.

  • How to access data of all users in a page?

Hi all, I am new to APEX and have a query.
I have installed APEX on my local machine, created a workspace, and added a few users with roles.
I am creating an application, similar to a Library app, where I have a table that stores Books information (BOOK_ID, BOOK_NAME, etc). I'd like to create another table BOOK_USER with two columns, BOOK_ID and USER_ID. BOOK_ID would refer to the BOOKS table, and I want USER_ID to refer to the table that stores user details of the workspace that I am using. The data entry would happen from a page that has two LOVs, one for book name (using BOOK_ID as the value) and another for user name (USER_ID, or whatever field APEX uses to store user's ID). Can I do that in APEX? I've found ways to access and authenticate a user for a page, but how to get data of all users in the workspace? In other words, how to get all usernames in a LOV?
As I am new to APEX, I'd appreciate if someone can guide me through the steps, or post links to tutorial, etc.

Assuming that you are using the Application Express User Accounts for authentication, in that case you have to use built-in apex views
selet * from APEX_WORKSPACE_APEX_USERSAnd use USER_NAME column instead of user_id

  • Silent install of SQL Server 2008r2 for ALL users?

We ship an installer that does a silent install of SQL Server 2008r2 with all the 'right' parameters pre-configured. We use this:
    /QS /INSTANCENAME=MSSQLSERVER /ACTION=Install /FEATURES=SQL,BC,Conn,ADV_SSMS /SAPWD=MyPasswordGoesHere /SECURITYMODE=SQL /TCPENABLED=1 /ADDCURRENTUSERASSQLADMIN /SQLSVCSTARTUPTYPE=Automatic /SQLSVCACCOUNT="NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" /AGTSVCACCOUNT="NT
    AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS
However, the problem is that if a tech installs it for another user, that user does not have access, since ADDCURRENTUSERASSQLADMIN flag only adds the user who installed it -- rather than adding ALL users on the computer. (Or at least all admins.)
I tried replacing ADDCURRENTUSERASSQLADMIN with this:
    /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="BUILTIN\ADMINISTRATORS"
but that also failed to work. How can we install for all users, or at least all administrators?
NOTE: we do NOT know the name of the computer or the users. The installer has to work for any computer setup.
Similar question has already been asked, but wasn't helpful:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/8354675f-be9b-4909-b776-942f03954807/how-to-do-a-silent-install-of-sql-2010-express-for-all-users-on-a-computer?forum=sqlexpress
The documentation does not make it clear what you can pass as allowed SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS parameters. I also am not sure if I would need to change the AGTSVCACCOUNT or SQLSVCACCOUNT?

    I tried one more thing:
    /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="BUILTIN\Administrators"
which does not halt installation with an error.
    However, doing:
    osql -E
    create database test
    go
in a command prompt from a different admin user on the same machine results in a permissions error... but works if done from a command prompt on the user account from which MSSQLServer was installed.
So for some reason /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="BUILTIN\Administrators" does not work as expected.
    Anyone have any idea why?
I checked the output log from the install, and found it had generated and used a configurationFIle to do the install. I looked in that file, and these were the settings, even though I did NOT pass /ADDCURRENTUSERASSQLADMIN as a command line option:
; Windows account(s) to provision as SQL Server system administrators.
    SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="BUILTIN\Administrators"
; The default is Windows Authentication. Use "SQL" for Mixed Mode Authentication.
    SECURITYMODE="SQL"
; Provision current user as a Database Engine system administrator for SQL Server 2008 R2 Express.
    ADDCURRENTUSERASSQLADMIN="True"

  • [Solved] Ensure all users have access to directory and files

I'm writing a PKGBUILD thats installing to /usr/share/.../... and building the package is giving me permissions for files and parent folder as root:root and directory/file permissions as 755 and 644 respectively.  Because it looks like the files need to be alterable (at least temporarily), I'd like all users to be able to have the correct permissions for them.  This may cause problems for multiple users on the system because settings may get saved here but I'd still like to be able to do this because people with single-user systems can benefit from this (i.e. I'd be todd:users while someone named joe would be joe:users) to be able to have access.  I've heard of the nobody group before, can I do something like this?:
    chown -R nobody:users ${pkgdir}/usr/share/.../...
    Any recommendations?

You can give the files that need to be altered the permission 0666. If you want also to give users permissions to create new files and directories give the directories permissions 0777. Leave the owner as root:root ("nobody" is just another normal user, it is used to run system daemon that for some reason we do not want to run as root). That's said what you are trying is considered bad practise (be also aware that two different users could modify the same file at the same time with unpredicatble results). If it is not fixable in a proper way, you could install the whole package your home directory (without making an arch package), just alter the PATH and possible LD_LIBRARY_PATH). In any case if you decide to make an arch package like this, such a package will not be suitable for distribution.

  • Is there a way to install an extension such as CliCk Speak for all users of Firefox?

We need to have the CliCk Speak extension installed so all users of Firefox have access to it.

Adding an SSD is not a simple endeavour like adding additional memory or adding another hard drive to a Mac Pro. That's probably why the option is only offered as an option at the time of purchase. Even if your Apple store was willing to install the necessary parts you will probably be paying for 1-2 hours of labor plus the cost of purchasing the necessary service parts (SSD, bracket, cables, etc) which I suspect will make the upgrade cost much higher than what it costs to add the SSD option when purchasing a new system.
I use my system for business and need it to work reliably.  Even though I'm fairly handy with tools I would not be willing to risk damaging my system and voiding my warranty by opening my system and removing the logic board and several other parts in order to squeeze in an SSD option and attach the appropriate cables and brackets. I'm also not prepared to deal with the hassles of explaining why my system has unauthorized parts installed in the event I experience issues and need to make use of my Apple warranty. My time is valuable, so I would probably investigate external storage options, or if I needed the speed of an SSD, I would consider selling my existing system and then purchase a new system configured with an SSD.
If you haven't already done so I suggest doing a search on 'iMac SSD installation' to see what's involved. It might help you understand why the SSD option is not offered post purchase.
