[Solved] Ensure all users have access to directory and files

I'm writing a PKGBUILD thats installing to /usr/share/.../... and building the package is giving me permissions for files and parent folder as root:root and directory/file permissions as 755 and 644 respectively. Because it looks like the files need to be alterable (at least temporarily), I'd like all users to be able to have the correct permissions for them. This may cause problems for multiple users on the system because settings may get saved here but I'd still like to be able to do this because people with single-user systems can benefit from this (i.e. I'd be todd:users while someone named joe would be joe:users) to be able to have access. I've heard of the nobody group before, can I do something like this?:
chown -R nobody:users ${pkgdir}/usr/share/.../...
Any recommendations?

You can give the files that need to be altered the permission 0666. If you want also to give users permissions to create new files and directories give the directories permissions 0777. Leave the owner as root:root ("nobody" is just another normal user, it is used to run system daemon that for some reason we do not want to run as root). That's said what you are trying is considered bad practise (be also aware that two different users could modify the same file at the same time with unpredicatble results). If it is not fixable in a proper way, you could install the whole package your home directory (without making an arch package), just alter the PATH and possible LD_LIBRARY_PATH). In any case if you decide to make an arch package like this, such a package will not be suitable for distribution.

Full access is the default, in my experience. I've seen others here post that they had an Install Option for one account or all accounts. Are you sure that your son doesn't have access? Remember that you are looking for "Pages.app", not "iPages.app".
You should find it in Macintosh HD, Applications, iWork '09. You should see it there from either account.

How to view all transactions that all users have access with in a year.

Does anyone know if they is a report that shows all users and the transactions they have used within a year? I have tried STAT3 and STAD and also SM20 however this does not give me all the users and their transactions used.
I would be greatful if anyone can please help.

In SUIM you will not find this data. Explore ST03N.
Edited : I doubt whether it will give you a year dat or not. Default logging is last 3 months including current month. The best way to do this is to create Z table to log all data during a year.

Look... I don't have my crystal ball handy. I don't know how or if you had your backup set up. You don't adequately describe what you're missing. Stating that "All I am left with is the content I had before I upgraded to iOS" doesn't tell me anything at all... When did you upgrade? Apparently, you had a backup from that time, and when you restored, you restored from that backup. If you had no other backups in between then and now, then anything since that time is gone. Permanently.

All users have same bookmarks

Updated to Mavericks. Now all users have same bookmark set and changes by one user changes bookmarks in the other accounts.
Any ideas?

All the users are synchronizing Safari with the same iCloud account. That's what you have to change.

Server based Office 2013 - where do I save word templates on the server for all users to access from "New"?

Wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I'm used to working with stand alone desktop MS Office products.
We have a server connected to six desktop work stations. All stations have access to Microsoft Office 2013 on the server, and the printer is linked through
the server.
Users are currently accessing Word doc Documents on the shared (p) drive as templates, and then saving them with relevant file names to their area on the
(p).
Surely there is a way to save Word templates to the server, so that when someone clicks on "New" in Word our own templates are also offered automatically?

In ACS 5.1 is there a way to show what users have access to a firewall?

I have an auditor wanting a screenshot of all users that have acces to configure our firewall, I am unfamiliar with 5.1. Is there a way of running such a report on a paticular device?

There is not report you can run in order to show which users have access to which devices, your best bet is to take a screenshot of your authorization policy which shows the permissions. Then take a screenshot of all the users that are present in the user groups, and then another screenshot the network device group of the firewalls.

If you have older versions of excel and word that previously ran under the Rosetta emulator (allows PowerPC code to run on Intel system), they will no longer work with Lion.
You can use the Apple programs Pages and Numbers to access the files. They can be bought and downloaded from the App store. NeoOffice is available at http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php which has Lion support. OpenOffice doesn't talk to Lion support, it's at http://www.openoffice.org/

Revoke PUBLIC access to package - find out which users have access

We're in a situation where an audit required that we revoke PUBLIC access from a package. The problem is that when we did this the functionality stopped working. Does anybody know a quick way to tell what users have access to any package?

When installing (after completely uninstalling iTunes) several times, windows 8.1 tells me to verify that I have access to C:\program files(x86)\itunes\itunes.resources\ar.lproj\printingtemplates\11.insert.textonl ybw.xml. so ***?

So basically, the main problem I've been having is since today I have not been able to access iTunes. After trying to repair, check for updates, etc. I uninstalled everything related to iTunes and reinstalled. Everything was going well until I was told to verify that I have access to that specific file listed in the title. Which to me is strange because I'm the only one who has access to this computer.

I am having the same issue with Vista 64 bit: After many failed download attempts ("network error") the Progress Bar briefly appears and that's it.
Searched for solution that led me to running "Microsoft FixIt", deinstalling iTunes, Apple Software Update, Mobile Dev Support, Bonjour, and Application Support - even manually deleting common files that were left over (tough with Vista). No difference. FYI, I was able to get rid of the Apple folder in Program Files (x86)/Common File, but not in Program Files/Common Files ... but that shouldn't make a difference as I am installing iTunes64Setup.exe, right?
I even tried iTunes 10.7 and 10.6.3 from Apple's support page ... same differnce.
Had a lot of security updates on 1/22/14 (all related to Office 2007 (including SP3), though). So I tried to restore past this point, but an "unknown error" occurred and I am stuck where I am ... lovely.
So now my system is chopped and I seem to not be able to get iTunes even close to my computer ... :-(

I want to connect to a windows box which has sharing enabled. I was doing this yesterday and it was fine. Today, Mavericks has thrown in the towel and decided to think different.
What I normally do is CMD-K and connect to the server. I'll type it in - smb://tardproof - but it can't do it.
So I'll try connecting to it by it's known, fixed IP address - smb://192.168.0.107 - and ...
Hmm, that's strange. Since the mac clearly thinks it *can* see it on the network, otherwise why would it be listing it in the finders' "Shared" area? I mean, that's an automatic thing and not something you can command-drag out like normal locations...
