Access Connections issues w L512

I have a Lenovo L512 - 444CTO, running Windows 7, i5 processor, 4gb ram, 500gb hd
it has the adapter 11b/g/n wireless LAN mini-PCI express Adapter II
both at my home and at my office, both of which have wireless internet, it will log on initially and get good signal and work, but within ~10 minutes of being on the internet, it for no reason stops working.  The Access Connections menu says that it is still connected with strong signal.  But the small "network" icon in the bottom right shows the  yellow-triangle exclamation point, and says "no internet access," despite the fact that all other computers at both the home and office continue to work without interruption.
it is not a problem with the networks, as multiple other computers on the same network in both places work without interruption.
this laptop was purchased because i have online live synchronous classes this spring for my Graduate program, and I need to be able to get online and stay online to participate in them.
Any ideas as to why this might be happening or possible solutions would be greatly appreciated.
there is no firewall on either of the wireless providers that I use, and i have checked that the wireless radio is turned on.  the troubleshooting for the network icon tells me it finds nothing it can do.
Solved!

Hello mate,
It's possible that you need to deselect the option "Allow the wireless LAN radio to be turned off when inactive" found under Global settings.
Launch Access Connections>Tools>Global Settings. Deselect it and see if that fixes your problem.

  • Access Connections issues

I am very frustrated with my machine, I ordered and received a L512 Thinkpad with no troubles, but the internet connectivity is not functioning properly and it is making me anxious for the future, as I need this laptop to participate in my Grad School's online live synchronous classes that begin Jan 13th.
the Network Access does not seem to function correctly at all.  It will say it is connected to the internet at my home, but suddenly quit loading anything, despite still showing status as "connected", and won't do anything internet-related until i disconnect and reconnect.
other times it won't connect at all, saying my BIOS radio is off, despite the button on the front right being "on" and having never modified anything about this myself.
my girlfriend has an HP laptop and sits right next to me and hers works fine, other computers in the house work fine, it is not a network problem, it is a problem with my machine.
other times the internet will be working but the access connection status will have the red x and say disconnected.  then eventually it will have a lapse and not work until i disconnect and reconnect.
i bought this computer to do my online synchronous classes for grad school.  if it keeps dropping off the internet, this will be unacceptable for my needs of class participation.
all of the support online and in the thinkvantage have not helped.  i ran all the tests in the thinkvantage under diagnostics, and when it is connected it says everything works great, but then when it unexpectedly drops the internet, it gives me no help on why or how to fix it.
i am at a loss, and am thinking of trying to return the machine and go with something else, but as i've taken it out of the original box, and have read the general discussion forum threads on returns and customer service, i'm quite afraid to even attempt that process
the whole experience makes me want to cry.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
try to disable firewall and Antivir. Sounds like this might change the sitation.
The fact, that this is present also without Access Connection is not that much surpricing, as AC is mainly using the Windows network manager, so this is more like a nice GUI for network management with advanced functionality.
Anyway, try to focus more on the Windows even log to see, what might be wrong.
Also I would try to start command line and run following command:
    ping www.google.com -t
And let it run. Once the issue will be there, check if there really is a netowrk connectivity in this command line (if it pings, then you are still online, if not, you are off)
    Cheers

  • Access Connection Issues

    Hello;
I have read about many issues here with Access Connections software. I have yet to put my  new system on the Wi-Fi so I don't know if I will have those issues or not. I will be doing that tomorrow. The reason for the delay is I have a managed system where visitors get a coupon and have to create an account and log in with there coupon code. As an administrator of the system for me I just need to have them put my MAC on the preferred list and not log in required ever.
Anyway what I am here for is I noticed that most of the time when I boot my computer the access connection icons in the notification area (sys tray) do not appear. They are set to appear but do not about 80% of the time.
If you open access manager and go to global settings and untic to show the icons then tic them back on they appear.
    Anyone ever seen this?
Also if I should decide to remove Access manager from my system will it harm any of the other Lenovo software?
I am very well aware how to disable file and printer sharing when I connect to certain networks.
    Thanks
    Vince

    Welcome to the forum!
You're probably not getting many answers to your questions because much of this has been hashed over many times already not only here but also at TPF and NBR .
Have you tried doing a clean install picking and choosing which of the preloaded apps you need?  I believe the recovery disks have the option to choose what gets re-installed.  Or there's the XP Clean Install Guide  from NBR  There's a similar one at TPF although I can't seem to find the link right now.  Use the ThinkVantage Software Guide  to help you decide what you want to reinstall.
    Hope this helps!

  • ThinkVantage Access Connections cannot export .loc profile

    Hello,
I've tried to export one of the location profiles in Thinkvantage AC. The function however is disabled in the profile maintenance window/menu. Access connection thus only allows importing, but no exports possible.
I've already tried using the Deployment tool for creating .loa files. But as this is binary gibberish, it's not much more useful to me than a registry export.
So, does anybody alternatively have a *.loc file at hand for public viewing? Couldn't find a single example on the web. (Much less in Lenovos documentation or web site...)
    Thanks!

Here's an update to my situation:
     ThinkVantage Access Connections Issue
I just gave up on this and uninstalled it so no conflicts on this now.  (Not critical to me unless someone more knowledgeable thinks it should be!)
Rescue and Recovery: I tried reinstalling both the  Thinkvantage version 4.21 and Rapid Restore 4.0 after disabling all virus protection and uninstalling whichever one was on at that time.
Thinkvantage version 4.21:  Gave me tons of errors in the  pre windows R&R environment so I gave up after rebooting a couple of times  It told me there was a problem with factory.exe and the following files were "corrupt and unreadable":
    netdgdxb.PNF
    nettcpip.PNF
    netvt86.PNF
    netw940.PNF
    net557.PNF
    netand2.PNF
    netbrdgm.PNF
    netce2.PNF
    NetSetup.Log
Rapid Restore 4.0: Reinstalled from c:\ibmtools\apps.
Ran both "Create Rescue Media" and Rapid Restore 4.0.   "Create Rescue Media"seemed to work ok and burned a CD for me.  Rapid Restore had a problem and closed on it's own, but then proceeded to prompt me through 17 CDs for a backup!?!  Can I rely on these?  Is there a way to check their integrity?  Of course, a fix for the program seeming to end--but not really --would be great.  Also, the program to create the factory product recovery disks is no longer in Start-Programs menu.  The pre Windows R&R environment seems to load ok--no obvious error messages.
Finally,  since I reinstalled the software is the backup to factory info gone from my computer?  Is there a way to check?  What is the relationship between this and Windows System Restore which is reserving 9Gb on my HD--do I need both?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Access Connections 5 and up issues

    Hi,
For years our organization has been using Access Connections 4.52 flawlessly.  Recently we purchased a boat load of R500 notebooks.  At this point, we were forced to upgrade to version 5.20 as 4.52 will not recognize the wireless card.
With 4.52, when a client would boot up wireless and attempt to login to our network , Access Connections would pop up, then attempt the login only AFTER it has connected to the network.  With 5.20, 5.33 and 5.50, this function seems to work ok until I sysprep the image.
After I sysprep our image, this is what happens:  User boots up wireless and attempts to login to our network....gets and error stating "OURDOMAIN is not available"....15 seconds later Access Connections wakes up and connects to the wireless network.  Now, here is the really dumb part.  I can resolve the issue on my image by opening Access Connections > Location Profiles > Select Profile > Edit > OK.   Access Connections will now behave properly, until I sysprep.
Is there any solution out there for this?  Or even better, is there a way I can make 4.52 work on a newer model.  4.52 did not have this issue.
    Thanks
    Rosy

    Hi,
I cannot see it being fair, to blaim Access Connection for situation, that is clearly not caused by Access Connection.
In the past I was working with multiple corporate images, which I of course had to create, which included syspreping the image. And I can tell you, that sysprepping a 100% working image is always, and I really mean ALLWAYS screwing up some part of the image. If you have been doing images for longer time, then surelly you will be agreed with me.
If you are not, then you have not created enough images manually (I mean starting with the times of RIS, going through WDS, IUB, SCCM .... ).
So much for understanding, where to look when you are looking for the root cause.
So Access Connection is a tool, that depends on other applications and driver. Almost the same as by all other TVT applicaitons. For Access Connection it's highly important, that it's installed in following order together with other tools/drivers:
    1) Power Managerment driver
    2) Power Manager
    3) System Interface driver
    4) Hotkey utility/driver
    5) LAN Driver
    6) WLAN driver
    7) WWAN driver
    8) Access Connection
It's highly important, that this order is kept.
So back to the imaging, here is what might happen, when you sysprep the image:
    - you sysprep it, where some parts (usually ini files) are remoted from the dirver installed on the machine.
    - of course you configure the sysprep to load up all the drivers depending on the HW, or some input from the client
    - this will load everything back and inclusiv all the drivers
    ISSUE:
    - WLAN, driver is installed/inicialized after Access Conenction was present in the image
    - by syspreping some of the above menitoned applications from Lenovo are taken as drivers and therefore, they are re-installed only after sysprep kicks-in
I'm pretty sure, that you know, how you install you image and by some points you might not be agreed with what I'm writing, but I was working with the informations, that I could find in your description.
I think more description on the sysprep, or the imaging tool and structure might help me imagine, what is goin on.
BTW: I just remembered, that by olders versions of AC 2.x and 3.x when such issue was present, like also LAN was not detected and all this happened after I installed a corporate image, then my fix for the image was quite simple:
Reinstall all the above drivers + apps in the order as you can see it in here .
    Cheers

  • G4  (10.4.11) airport (9.52) wifi connectivity issue w WPA access point

I am struggling to resolve a wi-fi connectivity issue between a G4 imac with airport card and a netgear wireless-n access point.
The set up is as follows - the broadband comes into a Netgear router (DG834Gv5)which my Intel imac connects wirelessly to. Two daughter's den is away downstairs so I run an ethernet cable from the main netgear router to a netgear Pro-safe wireless access point (WNAP210) as an extender (we live on a houseboat so there are metal bulkheads and the like inbetween.
In the den older daughters G5 wirelessly connects to the Netgear access point easily through a WPA-PSK connection.
Younger daughters G4 running 10.4.11, with original airport card running firmware 9.52 (airport admin utility 4.2) refuses with the 'wrong password' error (it isn't - I have checked 50x) or sometimes just 'there was an error joining'.
It can see the network strongly (the airport menubar icon goes full, then cuts, then flashes on, then drops) but refuses any traffic.
This G4 can however connect, weakly, with my upstairs router which is also WPA-PSK protected (same password)!
I have read all the forums on this and despite some non-expert posts muddling the issue I believe that this SHOULD be possible. Not WPA2 I know but basic WPA.
In addition the options in the netgear extender are b&g (like upstairs which works), g or n. So I have selected b&g - no difference.
Currently I have had to set a separate channel for her and leave it unsecured which isn't a long term option (I am just hoping that even the cleverest war-driver cant sneak in through the extender, back up to the traffic between my Intel and the main router !!?)
Can anyone suggest what I might be missing in the conjuration (sic, ahem) configuration settings either on the G4 or the Netgear box ?
Is it enough to turn the broadcasting of the open channel name off and so render it invisible ?
Thanks in advance for any expert person's attention

    hi kathryn
did it have to be the Telekom, by all means??
anyway, first of all a link to a video where a german comedian writes a letter to steve jobs demanding he chose any carrier but the DTAG for the iPhone distribution in germany - really funny!

OK, I´m currently downloading the speedport manual from their website and will look through it, in order to see if there´s something in there..
as a first guess I´d try looking at the wireless prefs of that speedport box. I guess it supports by default 802.11a/b/g, whereas the G4 only does 802.11b (the "normal" airport). Try selecting only the 802.11b portion from the speedport (that makes networking somewhat slower for airport express computers, but shoudn´t be a problem since it´s still at least as fast as basic DSL service (11MBit vs 2 or 6 MBit)
    cheers

I share your pain with same Intel WiFi Link 1000 bgn.  After many, many hours yesterday I am now solidly running Wireless N at 144 Mbps on a LinkSys E4200, 99% reception from 30 feet away.
Previous to yesterday I could not get 'N' to work at all.
First, if you have a newer dual frequency Router, this Intel adapter only supports 2.4ghz..
    1. I am using Access Connections 5.85, Windows 7
    2. Router: 2.4 Ghz Network Mode: Mixed
    3. On my LinkSys router Channel: Auto NEVER worked for either  'G' or 'N'.  I picked channel 4 by chance and things got better.  No further experiments.
    3. Channel Width: Auto (20mhz or 40mhz).
    4. Earlier forums indicate WPA2-P and AES must be selected.  That's what I am running.
    5. Numerous references to "power" conflicts.  Set all Power Management to Maximum Power.
(Control Panel -> Device Manager ->Network Adapters -> Intel WiFi Link 1000 bgn -> Power Management)
(Access Connections -> Wireless Settings -> 4. Advanced Configuration-> Maximum Performance)
If you followed these steps, Wireless G should be working stabily for you now.
Now for the secret sauce to make Wireless N work:  go to http://communities.intel.com/message/82098#82098
See Feb 3, 2010 post How to get 5100 AGN to connect at N speed?
I am indebted to this guy.
Save the instructions!  For some reason my EDGE 14 wireless totally quit this week and that's what sent me down this wireless rabbit hole again.  At least this time I was able to make N mode work for the first time.
    Frustrated but relieved,

  • T500: Access Connections and windows wifi management issue PostPosted: Fri Oct 29, 2010 2:31 pm

    Hello all,
This is my very first post here so please beare with me.
    My T500:
    Product: ThinkPad T500 2056-AK5
Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (but same problem on Ultimate x64)
    Original description: Based 2056-4RG: T9400(2.53GHz), 3GB RAM, 160GB 7200rpm HD, 15.4in 1680x1050 LCD, 256MB ATI Radeon HD3650, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ether, UltraNav, Sec Chip, FPR, 9c Li-Ion, WinVista Business 32
The wifi NIC is Intel 5100 AGN, the gigabit is 82567LM. I bought also an Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband modem. All are working as supposed.
The win7 is freshly installed from recovery dvd's, all updates, both Lenovo and Micro$oft are up to date.
The problem: Access connections seems to be "behind" the automated wifi management of windows 7. I have two, three profiles saved for may home wifi network, my office wifi network and so on. My home network has settings like 192.168.7.xx, no encryption, only MAC registration, the office network has 192.168.4.xx, encryption WPA, therefore a switch is needed everyday between these.
The problem is that AC doesn't do that, eventually doesn't even switch between locations at all. In AC->Tools location switching is properly set up
The T500 connects let say at home, then when I starts in the office it connects to the office network but still using my home IP (192.168.7.xx) even if I saved in the profiles different IP numbers for both location. I have tried stopping the windows wifi connection service but then AC stop either.
This seems to me like windows try and force reconnect to the new network with the old settings, even before AC could interfere with its settings saved in profiles.
Only 2 things I can do:
    1. in windows' wireless network and sharing center I choose to start manually these networks, then start them manually from AC;
    2. Stop the network as connected automatically by windows (with wrong IP settings) then restart it from AC;
Both these are frustrating because my good old T60 running winXP did this automatically, without my inference.
Could anyone help me out of these, please?

I had similar problems with my T400.  AC would refuse to even show my access point most of the time.   I finally gave up and uninstalled AC.  The Windows 7 wifi management works just fine, but no profiles
Others on this forum smarter than me insist that AC works with Windows 7, just not for me.  It worked perfectly when running XP on this T and on my T61.
If you dump AC, do the basic wifi functions work for you?

  • Can't power on Wireless Radio Access Connections ver. 5.83 build 83C753WW

I had the wireless working just fine.  I did a System Update and now I can't get the Wireless Radio to power on for the life of me.
I've tried many things.  I read many many other problems that sound the same but they are working with older version of Access Connections and most of them are working with XP.
I'm working with Win7 64bit Professional on a Thinkpad L512.  Windows has all the updates available.  The only way I know of to turn on the radio is with <Function> F5.  I see the 802.11 Wireless Radio in the Off state.  I see the power button.  When I select the power button nothing happens.
I have replaced the hard drive and loaded the recovery disks.  Then the wireless works just fine.  So I know it's not a hardware issue.  When I put the original hard drive back in I can't get the radio to power on.  I have removed and reinstalled a number of pieces of software in a specific order but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks,

  • HP PhotoSmart 7510 suddenly has severe connectivity issues

I have a HP PhotoSmart 7510 printer since about 2 months. Initial setup worked like a charm and the printer has been working pretty much perfectly for the last 2 months. Wireless printing, scanning and internet access on the printer (e.g. for Facebook photos) all worked. Just from time to time i would get the occasional (mildly annoying) message on my computer saying "scan to computer is currently unavailable" but it usually worked itself out and whenever I needed it to work, it did work.
But since a few days ago, it has some severe connectivity issues. I didn't change any settings on the printer, router or computer - the issues just started appearing by themselves. I startet getting much more frequent messages on my computer saying "scan to computer is currently unavailable". I noticed I couldn't print anymore, and restarting computer, printer and/or router didn't help at all. The only thing so far i managed to print wirelessly since the problems started were the first 5 pixel rows of an image I tried to print, the rest didn't transmit.
It seems the printer still connects to the WLAN but printing and scanning no longer work, and whenever I try to access a web service on the printer (like Facebook) it says it has no internet connection, even though the WLAN light is lit up (not blinking) and all the wireless status reports say "congratulations, no problems found" and display IPs etc. just like normal.
I looked at the threads "PhotoSmart 7510 connects to router, but not to the web.", "Wireless printer (HP Photosmart 7510) not connecting to network" and "Photosmart 7510 won't connect to Web Services" but they weren't a big help. Activating EWS didn't work because even though the printer showed its IP address to be 192.168.1.3, when I entered this in my web browser it didn't find the printers configuration page.
I tried the following steps from one of the threads:
    1. Restore the Network defaults
    2. Unplug the printers power cord while it is still on. Leave it unplugged and walk to the router.
    3. While the router is still on, unplug the power cord from the router, leave it unplugged for 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the router. Once plugged back in the router should power on automatically.
    4. Plug the power cord back into the printer. Once plugged back in the printer should power on automatically.
    5. Run the Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect the printer to your wireless network.
    6. Try enabling Web Services.
I followed these steps exactly. Interestingly, even though I had done step 1 and restored the network settings to factory defaults, after turning back on, the printer somehow still had its old settings saved and reconnected to the network.
It seemed to have fixed the problem, the printer finally had internet access again (Facebook app showed my photos) and scan to computer found my PC. But after just about 3 minutes, the printer had lost its internet connectivity again. When opening the Facebook app, it displayed the same error message it did before. And printing no longer worked as well.
So, what is wrong with this printer?! It has the newest software update by the way (I checked during the 3 minutes it had internet access.) My computer is a HP Windows 7 x64 machine (EliteBook 6930p) and the router I'm using is a Netgear WNDR3700.
I specifically bought this printer for my studies at university. In one week i have my exams and in order to study I REALLY need to be able to print some of my course materials! So any help as quickly as possible would be greatly appreciated. Or do you think this is a case for a warranty replacement, considering the printer's really strange and error-prone behavior?
    Thanks a lot!

I can assure you that it is not a router issue.  It appears to me that it is a driver compatibility with Windows OS.  After trying to get to the bottom of this since my Photosmart 7525 was new and reading just about every forum and blog, I have come to the conclusion that the issue must be related to the HP driver itself.
The issue does not seem to affect any Mac systems, and from one forum someone was able to fix it by downloading new drivers compatible with 64-bit systems (which seem to not be affected by the glitch).  But that leaves us 32-bit people stuck with the current driver which does not work.
The printer is connected with good signal to the wireless router (no matter who's router it is and what configuration is made).  The printer can be pinged from the router and any computer on the network which is not currently being affected by this issue.  However, the affected computer fails pings by either request timed out, or destination host unreachable.  Pings are successful from the affected computer to any other device on the network.  The only way to recover (at least for a few days) is to reboot the affected computer.
Also, from the display on the 7525, the network tests pass without issue.  I can also download and print content from the internet with no issues.
Please do a quick google search of this issue and you will see several THOUSAND entries of people with the same request.  This is a serious issue that people are having and everything is pointing to an HP problem (not routers, improper installation of software or drivers, etc...).  I agree with several other customers that HP should be on the hook for this fix.  I will give it another couple weeks, then back to the store for a reliable unit from another competitor (Canon, Lexmark, etc..)
Thank you in advance for escalating this issue to product engineering,
    S. Hunn

  • Vista SP2 and Access connections requiring manual reconnect

    Hi,
I'm experiencing a problem after the installation of Windows Vista SP2 on my Vista Business. After a reboot, I must always manually 1) disconnect the WLAN connection and then 2) reconnect to establish a working WLAN connection and to gain access to Internet. Before I disconnect, the WLAN connection is alive, but I cannot access any websites. Everything worked just fine before installation of SP2.
I'm running Access connections version 4.42 on Thinkpad R61. I've read that someone has had a similar problem with wired LAN and with newer version of Access connections: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/itprovistasp/thread/17ba267e-0bb1-4621-b81f-04afa0d806...
Does someone know how to solve this issue and make the connection to work without a manual disconnect -> reconnect step?
    BR,
    Miika

After some searching, I found a working solution:

    Everything works fine now.

  • Excel ODBC Connection Issues

I'm having some issues importing external data from an Oracle 9i database.
    Here is what is happening:
I am initially able to import data from the table I want to into Excel.
I do this through "Data -> Import External Data -> New Database Query" where I have my .ORA data source. I'm able to log in using my user and password and import the table. My problems come after I import this first set of data.
If I try to "Edit Query…" I get an error box that says "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed".
If I try to "Refresh Data" I get two error boxes. The first is just: "[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]" and the next says: "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed". It then prompts me for the User name and password of the DB I'm connecting and after I enter the information, I get the same two error messages.
Also, if I attempt to establish another connection following the "Data -> Import External Data…" steps I run into a different problem. Upon entering the information for the User Name and password prompt I get two error messages. One says "!" and the next box says "Couldn't read this file". Once I click "OK" in those boxes, the Microsoft Query window automatically opens with nothing in it.
I can't seem to figure out why I can initially pull down data and then cannot succeed afterwards. I'm unable to connect to the DB I have through Excel until I completely closed all Microsoft Excel instances.
I also use this data source in Microsoft Access without any problems.
    My Excel version is 2003.
I'm using Oracle Drivers I'm using are from an "Instant Client" package.
Any thoughts why I'm having these connections issues?
    Thanks in advance.

    This issue is closed.
    The solution was:
"Data -> Import External Data -> Import Data"
Select "New Source" and select the "Oracle" data source and filled in the appropriate information. This was similar to the database query but it actually works.

  • Connection issues with EA4500

I had bad connection issues with my mobile device, so i pressed reset on my EA4500 router, and now when i connect to my network, it gives my limited connection even though i have 5 bars of signal. Not sure what to do now...

Resetting the router will erase all the settings you configured on the router since the initial setup. You manually configure the router's wireless settings so your wireless devices can have internet access again.

Make sure to use a computer that is hardwired via Ethernet cable to the router.

  • X1 Carbon (20AX series) wifi connectivity issues

Dear Lenovo Support and all others,
I am posting this in hope that someone can help with my problem and also to share my unpleasant experience with a new Lenovo product.
    Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon
    Model: 20A8A00VSG
    OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit
    Purchase date: 27th February 2014
Since the first day I purchased the system, I have been having an issue with my wireless connection:
    1. I am unable to reliably get a wireless connection to wireless access points (e.g. free wifi coffee outlets or malls) and personal mobile hotspots (mobile phone hotspots). It constantly says "LIMITED CONNECTIVITY". In other words, I cannot get internet access. Even when it does connect to the network and get internet access, there is a tendency for the connection to drop back to "LIMITED CONNECTIVITY".
The only time I can get a reliable connection is when I am connected to my home wireless router. The system does not seem to have problems on home wifi networks. Since the problem seems limited to wireless access points and hotspots, I believe its a hardware/software problem.
Please note that I have other  wireless devices (laptops and mobile phones) that can connect to the same networks that I am trying to connect to and have no issues.
I have tested the networks with my friends' wireless devices as well and they have no issues accessing the internet so I am fairly certain that there is no issue with the networks themselves.
    2. I have already called in twice and been given advice on both occasions but the problem still persist. I have updated all drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled and updated the BIOS for the system and also performed a system recovery but nothing has worked so far.
I have also tried disabling and/or deleting any anti-virus software and firewalls but it does not fix the problem.
I have also been advised that I need to go down to the Lenovo service center to have my laptop checked out by the technicians and that there MIGHT be a firmware upgrade for the wireless card itself.
NOTE: MIGHT? The support staff doesn't even know for sure whether there is an upgrade available.
    3. Rebooting my computer, the wireless card or the hotspots does not solve the problem. It might work for a shortwhile before it reverts back to it's non working state or stops working again once I reboot the system.
I am really unhappy with the purchase so far. It's actually a good laptop per se when all is working, but without internet access, it is pretty much like a dead fish. And thats 90% of the time.
Like I said, this problem has been happening since day one and I've tolerated it long enough.
I hope someone can help me with this problem.
    Thanks all.
    UPDATE - 3/24/2014
I borrowed an ASUS Wireless USB adapter from a friend and installed it on the laptop. Lo and behold there are no connectivity issues to my iPhone wireless hotspot.
INTEL DUAL BAND WIRELESS AC 7260 - NO CONNECTION/LIMITED ACCESS
ASUS USB N10 WIRELESS ADAPTOR - CONNECTIVITY AND INTERNET ACCESS
I think this narrows it down to the software/hardware in the computer....

    Hi, all
there is an issue bugged driver or even card firmware related. Intel confirmed that. Wait some time for the new release.
For the test purpose only disable 2,4 ghz band support and switch to 5 ghz. N-band seems unstable so switch to G-band. As the Linux users report the same issue it's firmware bug basically.

  • Remote access VPN issues using Pix 501

We have taken over a network where there was little to no documentation. I have a remote access VPN terminated on a Pix 501 that is having a connectivity issue. I can connect using Cisco VPN Client. There is a server on the inside network that is used for mail etc. It has an IP of 192.168.0.4. I cannot ping it from my VPN session but from the Pix itself, I can ping it. There are different source IP's as the IP pool for the VPN session is 172.16.x.x and the inside network is 192.168.x.x. I can ping other hosts on the same inside network that are in the ARP table of the Pix. I have attached the configuration of the Pix 501. After researching, I cannot figure out what the issue is. I was assuming it was the route inside 172.16.x.x was set incorrectly but I can ping some hosts on the 192.168.x.x network. Thanks

    Aru,
Hi. Thanks for responding. I did try and remove that route inside command and I still could not ping the server. I also tried removing those static translations and did a clear xlate but still no luck. This one has me puzzled. Especially since I can ping other hosts on that network and also ping the server but only from the Pix. The source on the Pix would be different 192.168.0.x than when I am connected using the VPN 172.16.1.x. That is the biggest difference. If it was routing, I would assume I could not ping any host on the 192.168.0.x network from the VPN session. I did remove that route inside as all of the other config examples did not have a specific route statement for the local pool even though it is not on the inside network. I have limited knowledge of their network as we just were told to manage it. Thanks again.
