Access database help

We have a client with a large database (48mb) and we need to
get portions of the data to the web site so users can search it. We
need portions of data from about 10 different tables. The data is
updated daily on the local database so we would need to upload the
subset of data on a regular basis so it need to be automated. ANY
help on how to do this would be appreciated. Is there software or
programming already done to do this so we don't have to start from
scratch. We are open to look at any soulutions but would prefer
asp/vbscript. Thanks!

Any information found in the database is the same data you
will find on the site you design. It's not a "do it automatically"
or "update daily" kind of thing. You need to write a connection
string that calls the database and have that on each page of ASP.
You will add something that looks like this to each
ActiveServerPage:

I'm assuming you will have this database on the same server
as the site. You need to simply setup an ODBC connection on the
server that basically points to the database. Now if that's not the
case, your connection string is going to look different and the
person that has that database is going to have to allow you access.
You could also have them setup an FTP program that automatically
downloads their database every 24 hours to a location you choose
(which would be on your server where your ODBC points).. this would
really be getting creative. If you don't have the database on the
same server, my next question would be why? It's an Access DB
right?
Now, under applications, database tab, select the plus sign
to setup a connection string. It will look something like this for

The name of the DSN is the same as it is on the server you
setup.
Then to call the data, you need to create recordsets on your
pages.
May I suggest you but a book about dreamweaver. They usually
have a sample site to work with, and plenty of info on ASP and
setting up a database. Is it really really hard, no, but if you're
just starting out it may take you a little longer to figure it all
out.

Help on using 2 MS Access databases at the same time

I have a problem... see what basically I am trying to do is search for a string in the database 'cache'. if found the second colume is retured to the user as the output. but if not found in that 'cache' then it serches another datbase 'server' and when the req string is found there it has to return the 2nd column to the user but also add this new row in to the 'cache' database.

Hello,
I am trying to use the data drop-down list from the custom library. I enter the name of my data connection and the other 2 variables in quotes when they are initialized, just like the example says to, but it still doesn't work. Anyone have any thoughts?

I am having trouble (sleepless nights) with populating a drop-down list from an Access Database. The result is: I only get the first record from the data connection. So the connection works but I cannot go through the other records. Maybe there is an other way to do this.
I am trying to selectively fill a form with data from an MS-access database.
I hope someone can help me.

Problem in reading/writing byte array in Access database! PLEASE HELP!!

I want to store a signature, which is in form of a byte array, in OLE Object field in MS Access database. I want then to retrieve this signature and verify it. The problem is that the retrieved byte array is not identical to the stored (original) one, and therefore, verifying the signature fails! Any help would be much appreciated as I can't proceed in my project without solving this problem. Here is the code to do the above mentioned functionality:

In the following code, I use a ASN1SDSSSignature class, which is a subclass that I created from the Siganture class, to create and verify an SDSS signature. The ASN1SDSSSignature has two ASN1Integer class variables:

Unless yahoo is terribly stupid, which I don't think they are, there is absolutely no way that you are going to access any database of theirs.
If you actually want a list that represents something on yahoo then your choices are:
-Ask yahoo for a page that displays it.
-Search yahoo to find the page yourself.
-Write a screen scaper that calls one or more pages and constructs the relevant data yourself.
If none of the above answers the question you are asking then please add more detail to make it more understandable.

Connect to a remote MS Access database using RmiJdbc

I want to access a remote MS Access database from oracle stored procedures.
Does anyone know how i can load the RmiJdbc driver using the loadjava command or with any other way.
Because when i try to load RmiJdbc.zip using the loadjava command I am getting the error:
ORA-29533:attempt to overwrite class or resource string while defining or compiling scott.TestClient
this error is occured for multiple files...
I don't know how to delete this classes.
Because this error occured and the first time i tried to load Rmijdbc driver.
and when i use the dropjava command to drop it,and then load it again the same error occures.
Can anyone help me how to load this driver?

How to Protect your Custom Access Database Product - so that you can sell & distribute it?

I'm looking for an update on this topic as I have been away from Access for a couple of years and have not kept up with the latest.
Hopefully they have made it easier to design, develop, sell and distribute custom database solutions. So here goes...
Question A:
If one develops a custom database product with Access 2013 what is the current best way to...
1 - Prevent it from being (too easily) copied
2 - Prevent it from being (too easily) reverse engineered
3 - Prividing a time limited free demo copy?
4 - Providing a demo copy with limited functionality... like limiting the number of records in an important table, or whatever?
5 - What have I left out of this list that should be considered for protecting ones investment in the development of the product? (other than copyright, of course.)
Question B:
What is the latest on being able to migrate an Access database to the cloud?
1 - Entirely online
2 - Part in the cloud and part on the users machine
3 - And what about all that VBA code - is there no way to make that work in the cloud and/or on a web server... or does it all have to be tossed and all the coding redone?
Question C:
What are other alternatives solutions for selling your custom database application while protecting all your investment in developing it?
1 - Write the front end in C++ (so that it is fully compiled) and the back end in ASP with MS SQL Server? (or alternative server side solutions)
2 - Write the whole thing as a server side solution with browser interface?
3 - Or what?

Not getting the records from Access database

Hi All,
Iam creating a universe based on Access database. I am able to view the data from all the tables except one table. When i try to view the data there is one error message "Syntax error in from clause, State: 37000". Everything is ok at database side. What does this error means?

Thanks for your reply. I have resolved my issue. Actually my issue was, I have a table "Date" in universe which was created in Access database, when i tried to view the Date Table values in Universe i was getting that Syntax error in From clause message. I came to know that Date is a keyword or predefined table in WebI & it wont accept that word as a user defined Table. So i renamed that table in Access and Universe. Now my issue was solved.

Unable to Publish Access database to SharePoint site in 2013

I have a user requesting to publish access (2007/2010) web database into SharePoint 2013. I am able to publish this database on all sites under one site collection (test) but fails on the other site (different site collection). I have compared site collection
and site features and both site collection (working and non-working one) has SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features enabled. Is there any other features that should be turned on?

According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you published Access database to SharePoint 2013.
Please deactivate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection features at site collection level and deactivate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features at site level, then activate them again, compare the result.
Per the error message, please type a value in the ‘Name’ filed, then publish the table, compare the result.

How do I open a pdf stored in a Microsoft Access database using Visual Basic studios 2012

Currently I am unable to find a valid method of being able to open a pdf stored in a Microsoft Access database using Visual Basic studios 2012. I've tried displaying the entire database on a form, but when I do this all the other columns show up with
the correct data besides the one containing the pdf's, it just displays <binary data> in each row down the column. I also tried another method with which you use the database as a dataset and can drag and drop the rows and columns into the form, which
again works for all the other columns besides the one containing the pdf's but this time I'm unable to interact with the column at all.
Not too sure if this is in the correct place, but any answers or help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Open an Access database from ASP on the Windows 2008 32-bit server

We are upgrading to a Windows 2008 server. The ASP application opens an Access database with this code:

The open statement causes this error:
       Number: -2147217887

- ODBC drivers
- verified that the ms jet dll is present: msjet40.dll, msjet35.dll

)then i restart both listener entries (ie lsnrctl start ODBC1 and lsnrctl start ) and both are running fine without any error below are the status.
