Access Dev Studio J2EE engine via SapRouter?

I have a group of Developers in another country who wish to use the j2ee engine on our local EP6 machine. They can presently access the R3 Dev system via SapRouter, but the question is: can we configure the j2ee engine in the Developer Workplace see the message server on the EP6 machine?
The path to setting is <i>Preferences > SAP J2EE Engine</i>
For example can we enter something like:
H/<localsaprouter>/H/<our saprouter>/H/<EP6 ip address>

Hi,
As for as I know ,
We need SAPlogon (higher vertion preferable but not necesary) for such knid of connection. for the saplogon connection you need application server name, system ID and username and password as described below
You also need some sort of VPN conection.
Following are the inputs required for creating Connection from SAP Logon Pad.
1. Application Server = IP Address or Host Name of SAP Server you want to connect.
2. SAP Router String = If you are connecting via Firewall accross VPN.
3. System ID = <SID> ex., DEV, PRD...
4. System Number = <00> ex., 00, 01 ..99
5. Select radio Button R/3
6. Give some description under that field.
Before doing the above please try to PING the Server at Location A from your machine(should be replying).
I don't think NWDS have this facility of using sap router remote r/3.
let me know whther this helps. also reward if so.

  • How during deployment my user id has been checked by J2EE engine

    Hi,
If I want to transport my application, Do I need a valid user ID created in J2EE engine UME. If it is, How during deployment my user id has been checked by J2EE engine.
    Thanx for your time.
    Cheers,
    Sam

    Hi,
to deploy your application to the J2EE engine you normaly use SDM (Software Deployment Manager). You need a password (no user Id) to deploy via SDM. This password was set up during installation of the Web AS. You can reset this password via SDM command line tool. Have a look at the SDM documentation for details.
SDM uses the deploy service of the J2EE engine to deploy the application. Therefore SDM connects to the J2EE engine via a username and password that are stored in the secure store (Configtool -> Secure Store). This user is normally identical with the administration user. If you change the password of the administrator you also have to change the password in the secure store. Oterwise you cannot deploy via SDM.

    Hi,
In the process of installing SAP WEBAS for java, during the last phase of installaion I am getting this problem
J2EE Engine JC00 of SAP System EPD did not come after 200 seconds waiting for another 20 seconds.
    my platform is
    AIX 5.3
    jsdk jsdk1.4.2 64 bit
Can any one help me out as I am stuck and getting no help from anywhere
    pradeep

    Hi Pradeep,
Check your trace files in the /usr/sap/<SID>/DVE.../work directory (dev_bootstrap, dev_disp, log_bootstrap etc..) for any errors preventing J2EE from starting.
It can be related to incorrect java path in the instance profile, incorrect JDK (see the OSS note # 716927).
You can restart J2EE engine via SMICM once you clarify the issue.

  • How to install local J2EE Engine for NTW4 Dev Studio ?

We installed a full Web As 640 ABA+J2EE stack9 , and activated all the JDI components (DTR, CBS, CMS).
NOw we instaleld on local pc the Developer Studio and are trying to begin teh develop of java packages.
We are not able to activate the debug on the remote J2EE ENgine.
According the HelpOnline we should install a local J2EE Engine in order to be able to do debugging.
The problem is taht nowhere is written where to find out this software and how to install.
Anyone has some experience on that ?

    Hi Gianfranco,
I see. Then, you are right. You need a local J2EE Engine.
There is a guide how to install a Developer Workplace at:
http://service.sap.com/instguidesnw04 -> Installation -> Dev Env -> Inst. Guide - SAP NetWeaver Developer Workplace Stack x
    Hope, that will help.
And I guess, the following might be of some help after you complete the installation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/92/fa369fb68e004598f246494665a49e/frameset.htm

  • Can anyone suggest why Dev Studio can't see the server engine

We have NW2004s/SP08 installed.  The server J2EE engine runs fine and one can log into the server and succssfully deploy jar's directly to it.
We also have Dev Studio installed on a desktop and it works fine.  We have our J2EE preferences set using the actual IP address of the server J2EE engine and port number 3061. (We can ping this IP address successfully.)
When we try to do a Deploy/Run from Dev Studio and monitor this attempt on the server side, we can see Dev Studio trying to connect.
But it doesn't connect.  In Dev Studio, we just get a message saying "sdmhost empty or unknown".
What's missing in our config? It was set up for us by externals no longer here.  Since we can successfully ping the IP of the server from the PC, and since we can see DevStudio trying to connect, it can't be a network connectivity problem.
Thanks for any suggestions as to where to look/what to do.

    Pascal -
I am indebted to you for your kindness in taking the time to answer such a trivial question.
I assume that because the client is now asking me for the SDM password, your solution is correct.  (It didn't ask me for a password before - I just got the error message.)
So I've tagged your reply for 10, even though I don't know the password so can't completely confirm yet.
I'll cycle back and confirm once I have the password.
    Thanks very much again.

  • Accessing Java System - Via SAPRouter

    Hi,
Is it possible to access the NetWeaver component via SAPRouter. If yes please provide the settings to be done in saprouter and how to access BI java part in web browser.
    Thanks,
    Vignesh P

    Hi,
    >My Question is how to access http://192.168.xxx.xxx:50000/irj/index.html from out side network.
I don't think that it is possible for us, SAP customers,  to use the saprouter as an HTTP gateway.
It is, of course, possible for SAP support but I don't know how they do it. I've never found a documentation about it.
There must be something special because  a standard web browser does not know what to do whith a saprouter.
The official solution for external HTTP access is to use a reverse proxy like the SAP Web dispatcher or Apache.
This works perfectly for us. In one case, we have a saprouter (for sapgui access) and an Apache reverse proxy (for BSP browser access) on the same host in a DMZ.

  • How to find out if J2EE Engine is PROD or TEST or DEV System

    Hi,
I want to get the system state / system type (even if si PROD or TEST or DEVELOP system) of the J2EE-Engine at runtime, because to use different properties.
How can I find this information and how can I get this info in Java?
    Thanks for help.
    Sven Rickelt
we use: SAP Web AS 6.40 SP 13 (Netweaver 2004)

    Hi Gianluca,
one method I found is "to ask" System.getProperty("j2ee.dbhost") or System.getProperty("SAPSYSTEMNAME"), but I don't know if it is the right way.
So I must store the servernames in my properties (f.e.
    dev=mypcname
    test=testservername
    a.s.o.)
but I think there must be a method to configure the server, that I can ask it and the answer is "PROD" or "TEST" and I not must know the servernames...

  • How to access the JMS queues in the XI J2EE Engine?

    Hi Gurus,
Can anybody know how to access the jms dead message queues in the WAS J2EE Engine?
I have read in the SAP documentation that we can use some JMS commands from the telnet. I don't know how to use those commands.

  • SAP netweaver developer studio - deploying to j2ee engine - URGENT!!

I am trying a deploy a j2ee application from SAP netweaver developer studio. It is asking for SAP J2EE engine's message server port. Do you know from where I can find that???

    Hi,
the message server port is given in the profile file for the Central Services instance of the J2EE Engine. Here's the path to this file: \usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\profile directory. The file name is formed using the following scheme: <SID>_<Central_instance_name>_<hostname>.
Open it with a text editor and have a look at the value of the rdisp/msserv property (this is the port of the message server you need to use).

  • J2ee engine from Developer Studio is disabled

    Hi Experts,
The restart of j2ee engine from Developer Studio is disabled for some reason. The function "restart process" is grey in j2ee engine management in NWDS.
Can anyone help me to enable it?

    hi
    1. Switch debug mode on temporarily using the J2EE Engine view
    in the NetWeaver Developer Studio
    2. Switch debug mode on permanently using the J2EE Visual
    Administrator.
Whichever way is chosen, the J2EE engine will need to be restarted
for the configuration to take effect.
The Visual Administrator tool allows you to configure all aspects of the J2EE Engine. Using this tool, itis possible to switch on the debug mode permanently.
*USING THE J2EE ENGINE IN NWDS*
Select the server node and from the right mouse click pop-up menu,
    select "ENABLE DEBUGGING OF PROCESS"u201D.
This will cause the server node to restart in debug mode.
    USING THE VISUAL ADMINISTARTOR
    1.start the visual administraotr
    2.select the configurtation adapter.
    3.locate cluster data.
    4.switch to change mode

  • NW developer studio cannot find J2EE Engine

    Hi,
In Netweaver developer studion I cannot find Windows --> Preferences --> J2EE Engine. It is not in the list.
I have installed composite environment for portal development. Please advise. Thanks.
    Regards,

    Pls. check the file
    plugin.xml   in
    "C:\<NWDS Install Directory>\eclipse\plugins\com.sap.ide.eclipse.j2ee.engine_<Version>\"
    for entry like ,
       <extension
             point="org.eclipse.ui.preferencePages">
          <page
                name="SAP J2EE Engine"
                class="com.sap.ide.eclipse.j2ee.engine.ui.local.EnginePreferencePage"

& if this plugin ( "com.sap.ide.eclipse.j2ee.engine_<Version>" ) is there at all in your NWDS ( "C:\<NWDS Install Directory>\eclipse\plugins\" )  , if not you can copy this folder from another sys.
Also , let me know if you see any folder like   "com.sap.ide.eclipse.j2ee.engine" in your workspace  "C:\<Workspace>\.metadata\.plugins" & you have sufficient read - write permission on the file system.
Also, check the latest .log files in workspace "C:\<Workspace>\.metadata\"  for any error.
Which version of JDK and NWDS are you in ? , try reinstalling it.
    Hope this helps.
