Access j2ee database schema

Hi Experts,
I am a SAP newbie
Just a quick question about the j2ee schema.  This is the situation I have:
I have installed two systems: a ABAP+Java stack and a Standalone Java.
I am using oracle 9.2 dbase.  The j2ee dbase for the first system has the sid C11 and the second dbase has the sid C12.
Now the dbase is installed on different drives.  But, when I use sqlplus to access the j2ee schema of C12, I always end up logging in to C11 instead.
Do I have to change the environmental variables?
Charles

Thanks for you reply.
My OS is Windows Server 2003.  So it should be SAP<SAPSID>DB?
well.. I used sqlplus and access the dbase using system/<syspassword>, and list all the database users.  The dba_users listed are only those associated with my first database instance (the ABAP+Java j2ee engine, so these users include SAP<SAPSID for that system>DB) but not for the database instance of my second Java Standalone j2ee.
I was wondering if I need to add the environment variables for the second database instance?  Because such variables as SAPDATA_HOME and Oracle_sid, etc. only include values of the first database

  • Can't access tables in other Oracle database schemas

Hi. We got our Oracle database admin to install APEX in our Oracle database. She created a login and schema for my Oracle database user so that I could work with APEX a little. Here's the information on the version of APEX we have installed:
    Database Version Information
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
    CORE 11.2.0.2.0 Production
    TNS for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
I've found that my user is only able to access Oracle tables within my own Oracle database schema. Most of our main tables are in 3 other schemas and I'd need access to all tables in all these schemas. Right now whenever I encounter a drop list of values for Schema, only by own schema is available in the list of values.
Is there something our Admin can do to make these tables in other schemas available to my user account?

    Sharpe,
This documentation should point you in the right direction. It will show you how to add multiple schemas to a workspace.

  • LMS 4.0.1 cannot access rmeng database via Open Database Schema Support

    Hi,
we are running LMS 3.2 and I am using Open Database Schema Support to transfer the data from cmf, ani and rmeng databases.
We now want to migrate to  LMS 4.0.1 and I am trying to use the same scripts to do the same. I am using iAnyWhere JDBC Access Method, the same one I use successfully with LMS 3.2. Can access the tables in cmf and ani databases, but cannot the tables in rmeng database. I do not think my scripts are wrong, I more think enabling access to databases does not work correctly.
I tried to run dbaccess.pl in debug mode and can see there are errors for example while enabling access to the table  NETWORK_DEVICES in rmeng, please see the log below.
We tried to restart LMS and also the whole server ( it is MS Windows 2008 R2 on VMware ), but this did not help.
Appreciate if anyone has an idea what could be wrong.
    Thanks,

    Hello Joseph,
thanks for the reply. I was confused because I am not getting any such errors on LMS 3.2 server.
I am using many Java programs that work well with LMS3.2, but let me mention one that is probably the best to demonstrate the issue I have with the new version. It works well on LMS3.2 with all databases. On LMS4.0.1 it works well with cmf and ani, but cannot dig any data from rmeng.
Here is the batch I run on the LMS 4.0.1 server ( it is not the whole file as it is much larger ):

  • How to access multiple database present in single instance

    Hi Team,
In oracle 11.2, can there be multiple databases in an instance???  In one of our environment, I could see multiple databases in an instance. Could you please help me in giving the data dictionary or query to access those databases?
Actually, querying v$database, I could see only one database which is same as instance name. But in inventory, there are multiple database in an instance?
I am still not exactly clear about this. Can someone help me with this?
    Thanks!
    Vidhya

In Oracle one instance manages one (1) database. A database consists of multiple *schemas*.
Other vendors erroneously call a schema 'database'.
So, no, you didn't see multiple databases.
There is also one datadictionary, consisting of a set of views.
All views beginning with dba_  list the entire database, all schemas.
All views beginning with all_ list the objects you have access to.
All views beginning with user_ list your own objects.
The view DICT show you the contents of the datadictionary.
Oracle also has online documentation at http://docs.oracle.com
From your question it is clear you should read the document called the 'Oracle Concepts Manual'.
You can find all documentation for 11gR2 here Oracle Database Online Documentation 11g Release 2 (11.2)
Too many people here don't make any effort to read it. This is probably the reason why you got no response.

  • Accessing a different schema in Oracle

    Hi,
I currently have a great deal of code that assumed it would have access to the same database schema as the logged on user e.g.
"Select * from TABLE_NAME" (no need to specify schema name).
I have found out that we will now be using a system where the user that logs on, will be granted select, update and delete priviledges on another schema. So now after setting up the connection, my code would have to read: "Select * from ANOTHER_SCHEMA.TABLE_NAME" where ANOTHER_SCHEMA is the schema that contains the tables.
My question is, since I would have to modify a great deal of code at this point, is there any way to change the user on an existing connection so that I would not have to manually affix the new schema name to all table references? I would have to be able to do this without logging on as this alternate user since we will not have the password for that user (for security reasons).
I have considered creating views in the initial schema that access the alternate schema (e.g CREATE VIEW TABLE_NAME AS SELECT * FROM ANOTHER_SCHEMA.TABLE_NAME), however I was wondering if there might be a better way to do this?

Yes he would have to change his code. I am just used to using "S_" and it is the standard Oracle naming convention for synonyms. (Also it makes it clear that you are referencing the table via a synonym rather than hitting the table directly.
Why not encode all table names in an abstract class.
    Eg
    package utils;
    public class TableNames
    public static final String TABLE_NAME1 = "S_TABLE_NAME1";
    public static final String TABLE_NAME2 = "S_TABLE_NAME2";
    //etc etc
This class can then be used in the building of sql statements. If the table name happens to change at any time then a change is only required in TableNames class.

  • The server principal "XYuser" is not able to access the database "Ydb" under the current security context

SQL2005 on winserver 2003. I have a view in Xdb that accesses tables in 2 different databases (Xdb and Ydb) on the same server. I have mixed mode security. I have a SQL user (XYuser) that has read access to all tables and views on both databases, yet when I try to access the view using a C# windows application I get the following error:
The server principal "XYuser" is not able to access the database "Ydb" under the current security context
This same scenario works under SQL 2000. I looked through the postings and tried to set TRUSTWORTHY ON on both databases but that didn't help. I can access any other views or tables on the SQL 2005 server, just not the one that joins the tables cross databases. Any help is much appreciated... john

This appears to be a Login/Database Mapping issue.  I was having this problem, but was able to resolve it as follows:
Using the SQL Server management Studio:
In the Object explorer, under the SERVER security folder (not the database security folder), expand Logins.
That is: ServerName -> Security -> Logins
NOT: ServerName -> Databases -> DatabaseName -> Security -> Users
Select the Login that is having the troubles.  Right click on the Login and select ‘Properties.’
The ‘User Mapping’ page should list all databases on the server with a check mark on the databases that the Login has been mapped to.  When I was getting the error, the database in question was not checked (even though the Login was assigned as a User on the database itself).  Map the Login by checking the box next to the database name.  Set the default schema.  Then select the roles for the Login in the Database role membership list box.  I selected db_datareader and public.  After clicking OK to save the changes, the problem was resolved.
In order to ‘Map’ the Login, the Login must not already be as User on the database, so you may have to go to the database security (ServerName -> Databases -> DatabaseName -> Security -> Users) and delete the Login from the list of database Users before mapping the Login to the database.

    Any ideas?
Access version is MS Access 2002 SP3 (German) on a German Windows XP SP3 system.

  • Best Practice for Developer update access to database in Production

I am curious to find out what other organizations are doing as to developer access to sysadm in production. Such as using a database account created like sysadm that can be checked out for use and locked when not in use? or ?

Developer can be provided with Read only access to SYSADM schema.

  • Using Single Datasource to Access Multiple Databases

    Hi,
We would like to know the pros and cons of accessing multiple
databases through a single datasource, versus accessing each
database through its own datasource. Our environment includes
multiple web servers w/ the latest version of ColdFusion MX 7,
clustered through a load balancer. Each web server has 800+ dsns
pointing to different SQL databases on the same SQL server. We have
noticed that the ColdFusion administrator is taking a long time to
display or verify all datasources and sometimes it even times out.
Another problem is that sometimes the neo-query file gets corrupted
(for unknown reasons) which results in the deletion of one, or
more, or all datasources on the web server.
Because of the issues above we are researching the
possibility of removing most of the datasources, and then accessing
each database through a single bridge datasource. In that regard we
plan to change our queries by inserting the sql db name and user in
front of each table in the query such as:
    <cfquery name="query" datasource="single_dsn_name">
    select * from [#dbname#].dbo.tableName
    </cfquery>
In the example above, obviously #dbname# would be a variable
that will hold the name of the requested database. The code above
would similarly apply to queries using, update, insert and join
    words.
Are there any limitations or negatives from scalability,
performance, and reliability perspective in implementing the above
scenario versus having one datasource for each database.
Also, if there is a better way of accomplishing this, we
would love to hear about it.

Here is my opinion, because I work with both schemas. The
main advantage to use one datasource for all DBs in a SQL Server is
    the simplicity of administration.
But the main disadvantage is security, because you are using
a single user to access all DB in a server, you don't have
isolation, and a user that knows your schema can access data of
other DBs that he sould not be authorized.
Another issue is is a user must access 2 differents DB with
different permissions (a DB only read and the other read/write),
you'll have to create another datasource, user, etc for it.
But the decision depends in the enviroment. If you are a
hosting company, I would use 1 datasource for user or DB. If the
servers and DBs are of the same company, I could use one datasource
    for each SQL server.
    Best regards

  • How to create a link between database schema?

    Hi,
I have created database link between two database schema (From DBSchema2 i have created database link for DBSchema1). From DBSchema2, i have quried one table (This table is present in DBSchema1). But it throws an error says that Table or View does not exist. Anyone pls tell the detailed way to create database link between schema??
    Thanks,
    Sathish kumar D

    Yes iam trying to Archive
I said achieve not archive. Anyways so you are trying to archive the data. Can you just detail your requirement ? What exactly do you want ?
Only few tables will be moved to Archive Schema and other foriegn key tables will have a reference to the Live Schema. So how i can create the link between the Archive Schme to Live schema?
There is no question of creating database links between 2 schems. It is pure stupidity. If you want to access any object from another schema grant proper privileges and create a synonym for the object. Database links are not meant for this purpose.

  • Tables from 2 different database schemas in 1 module

I'd like to have only one module to store my source transactional tables.
In my transactional system, I've got, differente database schemas.
    For example:
    I've got a schema, schema1 with a table called table1 and schema2 with table2.
I've got a public synonym and granted the privileges to select table2 so, from schema1, I can see table2.
I'd like to have only one MODULE to store my SOURCE transactional tables.
But, when I create the module, I have to link it with a specific location, and a location is linked with a specific schema. When the list of objects to load is shown, I see the objects of the schema but no the others pointed with synonyms.
    Example: If I have a location linked to schema1 I only see table1, but don't see table2.
IS THERE A WAY TO LOAD table1 and table2 IN THE SAME MODULE?
    thanks in advance!

You cannot access objects in another schema via public synonyms.
If your location is linked to schema 1, then in schema 1 create a private synonym to schema2.table2, grant read on table2 to schema1 from schema2, and then you will be able to see table2 to import it into OWB if you have the option to included objects referenced by synonyms checked.
    Cheers,

  • BPEL Database Schema Configuration

    Hi,
Where do i find BPEL database schema information? Please let me know. I use SOA Suite 10.1.3
How can we find out what schema we are hitting for the BPEL instance ??

    Edited by: pradeepr25 on Mar 11, 2010 10:45 PM

    Hi Pradeep,
You can find the exact details of the schema creation etc in the sql file invoked from the soa_schemas\irca\irca.sh (irca.bat) from the install folders of SOA Suite.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/integrate.1013/b28980/appendixa.htm#CHDBIGIA
In case you want to see the connection details for your install, they would be in data-sources.xml file under $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/oc4j_soa/config directory.

My database has several schemas and I'm trying to access a specific schema using the following code snipet:

    IDatabaseConnection connection = new DatabaseConnection(jdbcConnection);
Is there a way to access schema mike27 on dbname? I keep getting the schema pointed to by the public synonyms.

    Hi,
I would think that you have to override the doDML method in ADF BC to then insert/update the values in the scott schema. For this the main schema must have privileges on teh Scott schema to perform the operation

I was unable to hit the needed tables directly outside the application as I'm not a DBA and they've never given me access to the schema names. So while trying to connect to those same tables as I do with Crystal Reports, I just went to the network drive where the TNSNAMES file is located, hunted for the IP of the server I was looking for, used that SID and did the following:
Database Link Name - (whatever I want)
Connect to Schema - (used my username that I use with crystal)
Password - (same password used in crystal)
Remote Hostname or IP - used stolen IP found in TNSNAMES
Remote Host Port - used port found in TNSNAMES
SID or Service Name - same as in crytal but also found in tnsnames.
After that I had no problem hitting the tables I wanted as my username and login gets me the access I need.
I can't tell for sure why I don't need the actual schema name and why my username works instead. I'm just glad it does as I can now use the necessary tables to do MY authentication scheme without relying having to ask to get access to the scheme used by the department. They wouldn't give it to me anyway:)
Hope that helped, I know it didn't explain why it works tho.
Not sure what you mean by the SQL query... that is done for you in HTML DB in the connect string created by the link.
If you mean how do you hit the link you use it prefaced by the at sign "@" as in gimme what I want from the database @(the link name you made)

  • AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE OBTAINING DATABASE SCHEMAS sqlserver stored proc

I have used the documented Oracle procedures for building the necessary wsdl and xsd files for a sql server 2000 and 2005 stored proc. The wsdl files and xsd are generated and incorporated per the tech doc. The process was working for a while and now, when we try to access the dbadapter partner link created using the wsd, we get the following error:
"AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE OBTAINING DATABASE SCHEMAS. VERIFY THAT THE DATABASE CONNECTION IS VALID AND IS SUPPORTED."
We have tried getting this corrected by using each of the specified jar libraries as part of the project:
    sqljdbc.jar
    msutil.jar
    msbase.jar
    mssqlserver.jar
    Still, no solution.
Anybody have this happen? Fixes? Help......

If you used a command-line utility to generate your WSDL and XSD that would indicate that your JDev version does not support SQL Server so you can't use the Adapter Configuration Wizard to create partner links that execute stored procedures on SQL Server. Creating the initial partner link using the generated WSDL and XSD file will work fine, but if you try to edit that partner link in JDev it won't work if your JDev doesn't support SQL Server. You'll have to regenerate the WSDL and XSD as needed and recreate the partner link.
