Access table without rights
I have 2 schemas(2 users) in one database. I have not granted any rights on a table to the other user from one user but still, i am able to access the grantor user's table from the grantee. Please help in solving the doubt as it is urgent.
You could start your investigation with some of the following selects (connect as the grantee user).
select * from user_role_privs;
select * from role_role_privs;
select * from role_tab_privs;
select * from user_tab_privs_recd;For more information about Viewing Privilege and Role Information see

Access other schema's table without specify the schema name
Hi, need ur help again,
I would like to access other schema's table without specify the schema name. for example,
select * from hr.jobs;
What priviledges i need if i want to select the data in this way:
select * from jobs;
Thanks!Public synonyms have their place, but are not generally a good idea as they will cause conflicts with other schemas and applications. Another think that you can do is issue the
ALTER SESSION set CURRENT_SCHEMA = schema;
The CURRENT_SCHEMA (8i and above) parameter changes the current schema of the session to the specified schema. Subsequent nqualified references to schema objects during the session will resolve to objects in the specified schema. The setting persists for the duration of the session or until you issue another ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA statement. CURRENT_SCHEMA is a session parameter only, not an initialization parameter.
This setting offers a convenient way to perform operations on objects in a schema other than that of the current user without having to qualify the objects with the schema name. This setting changes the current schema, but it does not change the session user or the current user, nor does it give you any additional system or object privileges for the session. -
How to Access Table Space Map in Oracle 10g OEM
How and from where to Access Table Space Map in Oracle 10g OEM ??
ThanksHi,
first of all, the online help system of grid control is outstanding. Just click on Help in the upper right corner and enter "Tablespace Extent Map" in the search form.
Result:
Show Tablespace Contents Page
Each Oracle database is divided into one or more logical units called tablespaces. You can use Oracle Enterprise Manager to manage these tablespaces and create or modify the parameters for the tablespaces. Use the Tablespace property sheet to set general and storage information for the specified tablespace.
Use the Show Tablespace Contents page to display the list of tablespace segments that comprise the existing tablespace. You can display Tablespace Extents by choosing Show Tablespace Extent Map at the bottom of the page. An extent is a logical unit of database storage space allocation made up of a number of contiguous data blocks. One or more extents in turn make up a segment. When the existing space in a segment is completely used, Oracle allocates a new extent for the segment.
You can view segment extents by clicking on the link in the Extents column to display the Extents in Segments page.
You can display the Show Tablespace Contents page by choosing Show Tablespace Contents from the command drop down list on the Tablespace property page, the Tablespace View page, or the Tablespace search results page.
Note: Developers could only display the tablespace map to a maximum hard coded number of 30,000 extents. Tablespaces are often larger than that. If a tablespace is larger than 30,000 extents, the portion over that is displayed as Unmapped. To avoid exceeding the memory capacity of the tablespace map and to display the map without unmapped extents, use a search criteria displaying results of less than 30K extents.
For an overview of tablespaces, see the "Overview of Tablespaces " chapter of the Oracle Database Concepts Guide.
For more information about managing tablespaces, see the " Managing Tablespaces" chapter of the Oracle Database Administrators Guide.
For more information about managing datafiles, see the " Managing Datafiles and Tempfiles" chapter of the Oracle Database Administrator's Guide. -
Accessing Tables using DB link .
Hello Friends,
I have a development and production env.
I created a public DB link in Development say mylink .
Trying to access the developement table from production using the following command say to access table x
From PROD accessing DEV table x using dblink
select * from x@mylink ;
Got the error as :
ORA-02019: connection description for remote database not found
02019. 00000 - "connection description for remote database not found"
Any idea on this why this error is coming ..
thanks/kumarI have a development and production env.

From PROD accessing DEV table x using dblink
select * from x@mylink ;You are trying to execute the query in PROD database. This query uses a DB link which points to the DEV database.
Very simple to understand : Since you are using the DB LINK in PROD database, obviously it should be in PROD area... right?
Just imagine you are using an object (the 'DBLINK') in PROD and it doesn't exist here. Got it?
SELECT * FROM x@mylink;
Here,
x -- table in DEV database
mylink -- DB LINK in PROD database (pointing to DEV)
Please try this.

Query for Linking Two Tables without Reference
Hi Folks,
Good Day!
I have this dilemma on how to link two tables without a reference. In the Business Partner Master Data, there is a field for the Territory which is from the table OTER. This OTER focuses on its description. Once you have added the particular Territory for that Business Partner, it is being stored in the Territory field of the BP right? Our client wants to have an automated way of searching for the Business Partner's Profit Center in creating a Sales Order wherein it is the same as the Business Partner's Territory. The Profit Center is from the table OPRC.
When I create a Sales Order, after I have entered the Business Partner/Customer Code, the Profit Center should have the value of the Profit Center Code wherein it is the Business Partner's Territory. My query will go like this:
Enter the BP/Customer Code automatically the Profit Center code where Profit Name = BP's Territory.
OTER and OCRD don't have connections. How can it be?
I'm thinking of retrieving the Territory first before the Profit Center but can you suggest of any other way?
Thank you much!
Regards,
FringeHi Fringe,
Okay, I already understood your case here. I presume your configuration as follows:
OTER (Territory)
territryID - descript
1 - Philippine
2 - Indonesia
3 - Germany
OPRC (Cost Centre)
PrcCode - PrcName
25 - Philippine
33 - Indonesia
47 - Germany
Was above illustration correct? Then, you could use this formatted search in Cost Centre / Dimension field in Sales Order rows
SELECT PrcCode FROM OPRC WHERE PrcName=(
SELECT TOP 1 descript FROM OTER T0
INNER JOIN OCRD T1 ON T0.territryID=T1.Territory
WHERE T1.CardCode=$[OCRD.CardCode.0])
However, I suggest you use a little bit different approach here. Since you can't define Territory Code / Territory ID (you could only type the Territory name, Philippine etc.), why don't you standardize Territory name with Cost Centre code? Let say, you define Philippine as PHI, Indonesia as INA, Germany as DEU and so on. Therefore, user can read the Cost Centre or more precisely Distribution Rules in Sales Order form in more familiar way.
OTER (Territory)
territryID - descript
1 - PHI
2 - INA
3 - DEU
OPRC (Cost Centre)
PrcCode - PrcName
PHI - Philippine
INA - Indonesia
DEU - Germany
When FMS worked in Sales Order document, your user will read PHI instead of 25, should be more familiar to them. With that being said, you could use simpler FMS
SELECT descript FROM OTER T0
INNER JOIN OCRD T1 ON T0.territryID=T1.Territory
WHERE T1.CardCode=$[OCRD.CardCode.0]
You only need to maintain consistency between Territory Name and Cost Centre code. Just my two cents. Hope this help.

DB Tool List Table: How to access tables which are in different SQL database ?
Hi, All,
I'm working on a database application (SQL server) and is evaluating the NI DB Tool kit for this project.
One of the requirement is that I need to access tables which are in two different database
(say Table A in DB 1 and Table B in DB 2).
Our IT guys has linked Table A in DB1 to DB 2 and I verfied this when I use the SQL server managment studio.
When DB 2 tables are populated, Table A from DB1 is also there. I can also do the same thing using MS Access.
Table A in DB1 is avalaible to me enven though I only connect to DB 2.
Here comes the problem.
When I use DB Tool List Table.vi to access DB2, it does NOT list Table A in DB1. It only list the tables in
the database (DB2) which I make connection to (using DB Tool Open Connection.vi with a file DSN)
So my work around right now is to open two seperate connection to DB1 and DB2. However, this approach
obviously creates a problem when I have to access seperate database constantly in my application.
What would be a solution to this ? I've search the forum but only see one post that's somewhat related to
my question. (And it was posted on 2004) Perhaps I need to alter the code in the orignial VI (DB Tool List Table.vi)??
My IT guy told me he has not encountered this scenario since he writes codes in other enviroment such as
VB and others, and he's always been successful by linking tables to different database.
I hope my question is sound and clear since I really don't know much about database terminology.
Any comment/suggestion is much appreciated !!!
Thanks
Chad
Solved!
Go to Solution.To josborne:
To answer your question:
- Are the two databases contained on the same SQL Server instance?
Or are the databases on separate instances? I assume they are on
separate servers, otherwise this wouldn't really be an issue. But its
good to know because it will affect how you build your SQL statements.
Yes they are on separate instances.
- Ask your IT people specifically how they "linked Table A in DB1 to
DB 2". I assume they used "linked servers".
Maybe I used the wrong terminology "linked." They created a "View of Table A (DB1)" in DB2 using the management studio.
Here is a screen shot of that. As you can see, dbo.VISUAL_WORK_ORDER is seen under LABVIEW database in the management studio.
I also see the same table when I make connection to database using MS Access.
Could you elaborate on "configure your SQL statement correctly" =) ? The purpose of using LabView's took kit is so that I can do
minimum SQL statements. Are you talking about modifying LabView's native VI (DB Tool List Table.vi) ?
Thanks for the information. SQL is just something new to me. -

SAX or StAX do not support XPATH, so directly going to the node in a xml is not possible using SAX or StAX. -

atYes, but looking at your log, make sure you define it in the logger in capital letters (DBADAPTERLOGGER). I've had issues in the past where i defined the log level as noted in the documentation, and it only outputted the errors because it was outputting in all caps.
The documentation for the connector defines how you should enter your log levels in JBOSS.

Oracle access tables in SQLServer through Transparent Gateway
HI,
I want to access tables in SQLServer2000 through Oracle Transparent Gateway, but i could not get the resqult when I excute sql " select * from mytable@tg4msql".
everthing seems all right and when i use " *tnsping tg4msql* ", it also return OK:
Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)
+(HOST = 192.168.255.10)(PORT = 1521))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SID=tg4msql)) (HS= OK))+
OK (20 毫秒)
but when i excute sql like " select * from mytable@tg4msql ", it does't return anything, just keeps quering till I kill my plsql.
it seems oracle tries to connect to SQLServer through database link but fail.
And i check Transparent Gateway debug log : ORACLE_HOME\tg4msql\trace\tg4msql_agt_964.trc,
the log stops when it gets the logon name.
thanks for answers~
this is Transparent Gateway debug log:

Hello,
Could someone please help me understand how to access table cells (in report)? I have a report with a table populated from a channel. It shows, in one column, a list of names (which come from a channel). I have another channel with a list of colors and I want to associate each name in the table with a color from this second channel. I have tried without success to even access a cell using D2TabRow and D2TabCol and display the contents....
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi Edna-S,
Thanks again for the help, but I am stuck at a very basic level. if I can get past that, the rest will work for me. Rather than using channels, I would like to reference elements in a table using the table row and column.
I found the script below in a previous post. Using it, I can create a two column table in Report. I added a little bit to the script and I can also change the font colour for the headers or a column.
But, I cannot figure out how to reference just one cell. If for example, I wanted to change the font colour for the third cell in the second column only, what commands should I use? In other words is there some equivalent of A= chT (row, channel) for use with tables where I could give the cell reference (row, col) and have the entry stored (A) in that cell returned?
Many Thanks!

Can Java create HTML tables without running a web server?
Hello,
I would like to know if Java can output data into a simple HTML-like table without having to run a web server or jsp etc.
I want my program to access a database and print records in HTML-like table cells.
It is actually for an events calendar program, where each event would be printed in a cell (date). There would be a variable number of events per cell (date), with each one being editable.
I have seen various "web" calendars like this but I want to make it a desktop application so that it is not dependant on the functioning (or non-functioning!) of a web server.
Can Java do this? I would settle for any type of prewritten table creator (not necessarily HTML) but I do not want Excel type tables or a table where entries must be GUI buttons, such as in Outlook.
Thank you very much for any idea you may have,
CatThank you for the replies :)
I found something with Jeditorpane (JTextComponent and HTML Text Display) at
http://msp-of.de/oreilly/books/javaenterprise/jfc/ch03_21.htm
which looks like what I want. It allows hyperlinks within the table cells and I'm not sure if JTable allows for that. Also, I will want multiple lines and even images (eg moon phases for the calendar) in each cell. I ran the example above and it works great. And yes, it makes use of the HyperlinkListener.
I don't want to create an HTML file for those who suggested that. I just want the flexibility of HTML formatting withing my standalone Java application.
I am still not sure why everyone is suggesting JTable though :) So I will look at it some more. The link above also has a turorial on JTable and does say its faster that JEditor pane because it doesn't have to do any HTML rendering. But it doesn't look to me like it can really ever look like a calendar.....
Thank you again! Being a total Java novice, I am very impressed with how easy JEditorpane is.

Table without technical settings
Hi everyone,
can anyone tell me how to suppress this message ......Message no. E2173....so i shall activate my table which dont have any technical setting...( i know that we can create the table without technical settings and i want solution)..
Thanks

The technical settings of a table define how the table will be handled when it is created in the database, that is whether the table will be buffered and whether changes to data records of the table will be logged.
The most important parameters are:
Data class: The data class defines the physical area of the database (tablespace) in which the table should be created.
Size category: The size category defines the size of the extents created for the table.
When the table is created in the database, the required information about the memory area to be selected and the extent size is determined from the technical settings.
Buffering permission: The buffering permission defines whether the table may be buffered.
Buffering type: If the table may be buffered, you must define a buffering type (full, single-record, generic). The buffering type defines how many table records are loaded into the buffer when a table entry is accessed.
Logging: This parameter defines whether changes to the table entries should be logged. If logging is switched on, each change to a table record is recorded in a log table.
The Convert to transparent table flag ( transparent flag) is also displayed for pooled tables or for tables which were converted into transparent tables earlier on with this flag.
Now,the point is that table can't be maintained in the database without these above mentioned things. That's why answer to yr question is simple that we can't activate an table without techinacl settings. -
where can i found access table? inorder to modify access table for relay problem. actually i have a problem in sending mail through my email client. For the same i have searched, i found a helpful link
http://www.webservertalk.com/archive58-2004-2-123092.html
In this link they are telling about adding a line
'Connect:172.30 RELAY'
in the access table, but now the problem is how can i find the access table?
please help.
regards
remyaI was first confused because in that link they were saying about soving the problem which is same as mine thats why I send this question.
Now I understood this is not the right way, so I have to stick on with authentication method itself.

I am trying to have access tables of the Sql Server through the Oracle
I am trying to have access tables of the Sql Server through the Oracle and this being occurred the error:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message: [Generic Connectivity using ODBC][H006] The init parameter <HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO> is not set.
Please set it in init <orasid>.ora file.
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from HSMSQL
I created the ODBC with name HSMSQL.
I made all the configurations in the archives
tnsnames.ora:
HSMSQL=
(DESCRIPTION=
(ADDRESS= (PROTOCOL = tcp)(HOST = wsus)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = HSMSQL)
(HS = OK)
listener.ora:
(SID_DESC = (SID_NAME=HSMSQL)
(ORACLE_HOME= C:\oracle\ora92)
(PROGRAM =hsodbc)
initHS_SID.ora:
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = HSMSQL
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = OFF
-- Create database link
create database link HSMSQL.US.ORACLE.COM
connect to TESTE identified by TESTE2
using 'HSMSQL';
But when I execute query the error occurs:
Select * from TabTeste@HSMSQL
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message: [Generic Connectivity using ODBC][H006] The init parameter <HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO> is not set.
Please set it in init <orasid>.ora file.
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from HSMSQL
Please they help me, thanks, Paulo.Hi,
It seems that your configuration is Ok. By the way, the workaround for this error is:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[Transparent gateway for ODBC][H001] The environment variable <HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO> is not set.
* Set HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO in the hs{sid}init.ora file to the data source name.
Example: HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = <ODBC DataSource Name>
* Make sure the hs{sid}init.ora file exists in the ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin directory and has the same name as the SID in the LISTENER.ORA.
Example: If SID=hsodbc in the listener.ora file, then the hs{sid}init.ora file would be named ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/inithsodbc.ora
