Accessing Control in Excel Worksheet

My company has a Winforms App written in VB.Net that populates textboxes in a Excel 2010 Worksheet. This application has been working flawlessly since the days of Office 2003. Last week, several updates for Office and Excel were pushed out by Microsoft and
my user community installed them. Since then, when our Winforms App attempts to populate the textboxes, the following kind of error occurs:
"Public member 'txtVENDOR_NOTE' on type 'Worksheet' not found."
I have verified that the text boxes exist in the worksheets and I have recreated the worksheets in Excel 2010, but the problems continues to persist. I have uninstalled all the Excel updates as well as several of the Office updates, but the issue still continues.
Has anyone else experienced this issue recently and, if so, how did you resolve it? Since this issue began after the last batch of Office and Excel updates were pushed out by Microsoft, which we installed on December 12th, does anyone know what update might
have caused the above problem?

The following updates blocked our Winforms VB.Net App from accessing controls in Excel:
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2010
KB2553154
KB2553284
KB2687423
KB2850016
Uninstalling these updates resolved our problems and allowed us to continue with our business and interactions with our customers and vendors.
The purpose of these security updates follows:
"A security vulnerability exists in Microsoft office 2012 64-Bit Edition that could allow arbitrary code to run when a maliciously modified file is opened. This update resolves that vulnerability."
These updates need to be installed with caution.

Accessing Excel worksheets when OBI EE is on Unix?

Hi, is there any straightforward way to have OBI EE access Excel worksheets when OBI EE is running under Unix? If this was Windows, I'd just create an ODBC connection to the Excel file and everything would be fine. But I'm not sure if this is possible when the BI Server runs on Unix.

Also, can't one upload the worksheet to the server and use Heterogeneous Services to make its contents available to the database and thence to OBI ?

Another method is to keep the forecast data locally in Excel - you know that an awful lot of people will be using Excel to put out reports !
Then get the actuals data into another sheet, either using the OBI EE plugin, or just by downloading the results from web OBI EE Answers.
Then tell Excel that it always gets its actuals from that sheet.
This does not make the forecast data available in OBI, but it does enable the forecasts
and actuals to be stitched together without involving the back-end team.
So will be suitable for some folk.

Error occurred while accessing application id Excel services application unattended service account from secure store service

Hi,
I follow up the book "Professional SharePoint 2013 Administration" to build the SharePoint 2013 BI include Excel Services. and created the Secure Store services to save the user SP_Install for member.
For Now, I can upload the worksheet and open it in browser, but when I tried to refresh it, the SP 2013 show error "Error occurred while accessing application id Excel services application unattended service account from secure store service".
does anybody can help ? and do I need to turn on C2WTS ?

Excel Services can be used with Secure Store in three primary scenarios:
Unattended Service Account
Embedded Connections
External Data Connections

Creating SOD matrix with the help of Access control default ruleset

I am creating the SOD matrix for the existing roles of CRM and HR modules. As I am the security consultant therefore does not have the functional knowledge about the conflicts for CRM and HR transactions. My question is can I use the function/actions/risks conflicts provided with the Access control 5.3 default ruleset. We are not using Access control for these systems, so I want to know whether I can take the help of AC 5.3 default risks to create the SOD matrix based on it.
For e.g, like H001 default HR risk, I would make sure not to assign PA30(maintain HR data) with the PA03/PA04(maintain personal control record) as this will result in the providing conflict "Modify payroll master data and then process payroll".
Once I have the SOD list based upon AC 5.3, I can consult the Business approver/auditor to verify and modify as per the business requirement.
Maybe I am thinking the wrong way, please provide your inputs so I can work on it. Any help appreciated.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to build a rule set that reflects the customers real business risk!
What you build there will influence the way the customer will be able to continue work, assign access and perform control activities. The input HAS to come from the business!
You can use the SAP standard risk definitions as a starting point for discussions, and the HR functions are an excellent building block to identify the transactions and necessary authorization objects that allow users to perform the actions.
But the real challenge is to identify the risks as perceived/accepted by the business!

I would use some help and more info about how to get host object that extends the functionality of my current Interop.Excel.Worksheet object. I read this artical: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee794671.aspx where I can call this function
GetVstoObject to get host object. But I see that here I need to pass the Globals.Factory object as second parametar. Can someone give me more details about that parameter and how to access it? I would like to get host object so I can access extension
property, since my interop excel worksheet doesn't have it.
I am using Visual Studio 2013 for developing Excel addin. Using Excel 2010.

Sorry, I am not able to understand the application you were developing exactly. From the orgnal post, you were developing an application level add-in, however based on the description above, it seems that you were building an console or Windows form application
to automate Office application.
If you were developing Office automation, the host item can't work for this secnario since it should run under the VSTO runtime.

If you have purchase order number in your cube then you can use the easiest method of all of counting -- a calculated key figure with exception aggregation.
Create a CKF and add any basic key figure to it from your cube (basic means a key figure from the cube, not another CKF or RKF). If you're using the 3.x query designer then click the Enhance button and set the exception aggregation to Counting All Values. If you're using the 7.0 query designer then click on the Aggregation tab and switch the Exception Aggregation to Counter for All Detailed Values. With either query designer set the reference characteristic to your PO number characteristic. This CKF will count the number of PO documents.

Xcelsius suddenly only allows chart to call data from first excel worksheet

Hi
I'm using Xcelsius 2008 Engage with SP1 FP3 installed.
I have never had this problem before, but in the last week, Xcelsius won't allow a chart to call data from any worksheet in the excel file other than the first worksheet. If I reorder the worksheets in the excel file, i can access a different worksheet, but only the one that is saved as the first worksheet (left most tab).
In dashboards i have already created, i can't change the data range of a chart that's already calling data from a worksheet unless i select the first worksheet.
Could this be an automatic update from microsoft? Has anyone else experienced this and worked out how to overcome it? It is frustrating to keep moving the worksheet to the front and reimporting the data everytime i want to make a change that isn't in the first excel worksheet.

As far as I remember it's not possible. Thus, find attached VI and use it to convert line/column to excel cell format. It's working if you are not using more than 26 columns (i.e. column AA, AB, ... if this is the case you have to improve it a little)

Converting excel worksheets with links

I am converting excel worksheets to PDF. The excel worksheets have links to external files. When using Adobe X Pro, the links work properly in the converted PDF document. However, when using Adobe XI Pro, the links do not work. Any suggestions?

Have you tried going to print menu and turning on Print entire workbook? If this is set all pages will be shown
By the way don't put page numbers in excel. Add them In the PDF. They will be line up right.
Even though This is the Mac version of the Print menu so layout will be different in PC version but should have similar controls. and this setting Print What: should be exactly the same.

Your provider might be different; the one above is for Office 2007. The [dogs$] in the selectCommand.commandText is the name of the worksheet in Excel.

How to control MS excel from labiew ?

I'm using Labview 5.1 and i would like to Know if is possible to totally control MS excel from Labview: to write into a specific file of MS excel wich contain already some information.

Generally you use ActiveX to control Excel from LabVIEW. The best way to understand that would be to run 'Write Table to Excel" example that ships with labview. You can access that example by going to Help>>Search Example and then under "activeX".
Also for more flexible control of excel from labview you can also use the latest "Report Genaration Toolkit" for labview that allows you to interact not only with Excel but also MS Word.

The ASSERT condition was violated.

|What happened?
|
|
In the running application program, the ASSERT statement recognized a
|
|
situation that should not have occurred.
|
|
The runtime error was triggered for one of these reasons:
|
|
- For the checkpoint group specified with the ASSERT statement, the
|
|
activation mode is set to "abort".
|
|
- Via a system variant, the activation mode is globally set to "abort"
|
|
for checkpoint groups in this system.
|
|
- The activation mode is set to "abort" on program level.
|
|
- The ASSERT statement is not assigned to any checkpoint group.
|
|What can you do?
|
|
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
|
|
|
|
|
|
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
|
|
administrator.
|
|
|
|
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
|
|
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
|
|
keep them for a long time.
|
|Error analysis
|
|
The following checkpoint group was used: "No checkpoint group specified"
|
|
|
|
If in the ASSERT statement the addition FIELDS was used, you can find
|
|
the content of the first 8 specified fields in the following overview:
|
|

|How to correct the error
|
|
Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
|

If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to

find an interim solution in an SAP Note.

If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
|
|
keywords:
|
|
|
|

|

If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error

|
notification to SAP, include the following information:

|
|
1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
|
|
|
|
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File

(Unconverted)".

2. Corresponding system log
|
|
|
|
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
|
|
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
|
|
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File

(Unconverted)".

3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP
|
|
program: The source code of the program
|
|
In the editor, choose "Utilities->More

We have a domain where will get CORS request from another domain hosted on seperate DC. We can't set
Access-Control-Allow-Origin as * due to security concerns & IIS can't take more than 1 value at a time. Kindly suggest how to pass multiple httpheader for
Access-Control-Allow-Origin.

WRT 120 Internet Access Control Problem for itouch

I've just set up my router. Cannot seem to control access to the internet for my son's itouch. The router recognizes it on the map as a wireless device part of the network, but it will not show up in the menu that allows for internet access control. My lap top shows up, but no itouch. I'm running Windows XP home premium edition - not sure if this makes a difference.

Open the linksys setup page...Under the Wireless tab,Change the Channel Width to 20MHz only,Channel to 11 and click on save settings...Under the Advanced Wireless Settings,Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
On the I-Touch..Go to Settings>>>General>>>Reset>>>Now select Reset Network Settings.This will now reboot and restore you network connections.
