Accessing datastores
Hi all,
I am currently developing a two-tier application and I am interested in the possibilities of deploying the application using webstart. I am a newby on this subject and after some reading I have some questions. The application is retrieving it's data from a ms sql server database and some configuration data on the server which the user can modify. How do you manage that users who access the application via the web (not using the local network) still
- can access and modify the sql server database?;
- can access and modify the configuration data on the network drives?;
kind regards,
Christiaan
Hi Chrisiaan
I am considering using JWS against remote SQLServer data.
Could you give me any advice based on your experience?
My intent was to use http over sockets not RMI. Do you have any thought on that?
Thank you.

We are getting the below error in our production server & also other servers(UAT, Staging). Only option is to restart the OSB server.
Test connection is working fine and able to connect the database without any issue. We have enabled connection leak profiling and also, provided the inactive time outs , still does not work. Need your suggestion for the below error.

Though the message says the error is in obtaining a TopLink session, the exception stack has nothing to do with TopLink, and the error seems to be coming from oracle.tip.adapter.db.toplinkext.NameEnquoter.init() directly calling weblogic.jdbc.wrapper.Connection.getMetaData() on what must be a stale or closed connection. This looks like a DB adapter application, so you might want to post this question there as they might be able to help configure your datasource appropriately for the application.

Dear All,
For one of my object, I need to read data from MS Access tables using SAP BODS tool. At a particular location, I have MS Access tables stored and I need to go to that path and extract the data present in these tables and load them to target table in SAP BODS.
As per my understanding, I need to create a Datastore which can read data from these tables. Could anyone please help me in creating that Datastore or let me know the process/procedure how to create one?
Also what all details I would need in order to create a Datastore which can access these MS access tables?
Thanks,
Surbhi SingiHi Surbhi,
Follow these steps:
Firstly check the configurion of your MS Access ODBC connection.
You can do this by going to
control panel->administrative tools->data sources(ODBC)->SYSTEM DSN
Check for MS ACCESS DSN. If not create one.
Secondly open your Data Services Designer -> Datastore tab(below project explorer) -> Rightclick->New Data store
Enter data store name, Select Data store Type as Database and Database type as ODBC.
In the Data source name select the MS ACESS DSN created in the first step.
Enter the credentials and click ok.
You are done!!
Later you can import the respective tables and load the data.

I was using TB on my XP machines and they went down so I was forced to move to a Vista based laptop. It eventually crashed and so I converted my computer from Vista to win 7, Home premium. In both iterations, I have been able to set up TB and transfer all the data & emails that was in them at the time ( from the bood drive that was in the xp machine). but since that time I have not been able to access anything new after that date. It will neither send nor receive emails from both gmail and cox.net accounts that I have. I've attached the settings below. I tried changing some things on [email protected], so that info is obviously wrong.
I've tried deleting TB but apparently have not been able to remove all the data because when I reload it, it just comes back immediately the way it was.
Any help would be appreciated. I really like how TB works and would love to be able to use it again.

Why can't thunderbird access my mail anymore after traveling to a different country?
Hello everyone,
I started having problems with Thunderbird after moving from Germany to Lebanon. First I thought it was because I changed my time zone on the computer but now I think it is more related to my yahoo account. First Thunderbird started to download one message multiple times (basically every time it went to retrieve email from all of my web accounts, but it didn't happen all the time and only to my yahoo account). Then it stopped to connect altogether giving me the report "maildrop busy". I tried opening it from time to time but it would only sometimes and apparently randomly download all the messages including yahoo but also sometimes giving me nothing or just one mail a dozen times.
Now I moved to Kyrgyztan via Turkey and since I'm only able to use yahoo through the browser I got asked to identify myself through an alternative email (web.de) which doesn't exist anymore so now my yahoo is also completely blocked in the browser. So I thought maybe Thunderbird initially couldn't download my yahoo mail because it probably asked to identify myself when I moved to Lebanon in the first place. But then why would it have been able to get the mail at some times anyway and why could I log in online without getting asked the question? Does Thunderbird identify itself automatically even when you change locations?
So I am of course in big trouble because yahoo is my main email account. The fact that I deleted my older alternative mail account is of course my own loss but can anyone say if there is a way to fix Thunderbird so maybe I would then be able to access yahoo through Thunderbird again?
(Another problem is, that yahoo offers no way to contact them directly, I did all the help and customer support sites, they are useless, and there is no phone number or mail contact...)
Scroll down for my trouble shooting report and feel free to ask any further questions on my settings etcetera, unfortunately I am not experienced enough to know what exactly you would need to know now.
Thank you!
Anna

Could not create/access the TopLink Session. While invoking OSB proxy.
Hi,
While testing an OSB proxy ,which uses a multi datasource to connect to a remote database, from the sbconsole.I am getting exceptions and it is not able to create/access the TopLink Session.
I have checked the multi datasource jndi name ,which is correct.
The stack trace which I am getting while invoking the service is posted below:

Thanks a lot in advance.
SumitHave you created XA data source? If yes then make sure that in connection factory you are assigning the JNDI name of data-source in XAdataSource property (NOT in datasource property). Also make sure that your datasource is up and running and you are updating the dbadapter after creating connection factory.

11g issue in handling file datastore from different server
Hi All,
In ODI 11g we have standalone agent as well as weblogic server agent. In our case master/workrep and weblogic server agent is installed in one of the linux server Say (A).
We have a scenario to pick the file from one of the different linux box SAY (B). We have child agent running on that box and it is associated with the main weblogic agent under load balancing.
While setting the topology information for file datastore it just need the driver name and path. At run time how odi will pick the respective file from that server
Eg:File in location: /app/soa/uo1/testfile/test.txt(B)
File path:/app/soa/uo1/testfile/test.txt(B)
ODI Client will start the execution using the Server A weblogic agent. How ODI will route the control to child agent and try to find the file in ServerB and not in server A.
in my case it is going to server A and saying file doesnot exist......
Is it really possible to assign the proper server detail, so that we can make sure that execution will happen properly. I am not sure about the weblogic agent and how it control the execution. I think in my case its weblogic agent which is trying to look for the file in server A, where it is installed and thus failing.
Control is not passing to the proper child agent as expected?
Any idea? There is a difference in your understanding of the load balancing and the way it is implemented in ODI agents.
In your case, the weblogic agent exists on Server A and hence it expects that the file also be visible to the agent and be local to server A.
Load balancing comes into picture when there are too many connections for Agent A and it shares its load with other agents. This logic of passing control is within the agent and when file systems come into picture, the filesystem should be visible to all the agents.
There is no concept of parent-child agents. The agents are simply load-share agents.
So, Load balancing is not going to give you what you want.
In your case, you should execute the job using Agent on server B so that appropriate filesystem can be accessed. -
Can't delete .vmdk file on Datastore
Hello,
In my new company i've inherited an ESX server which runs some virtual server2003 machines stored on a SAN Datastore.
As i investigated more i discovered that is was running short of space, after using the browse function i discovered that there were some 'leftover' .vmdk files which the browser couldn't delete and which are taking up a fair amount of space.
Does anyone have any ideas what i can do to remove these files. I have tried using SCP but only know the root password which comes back as denied.
Please bear in mind when answering that i am new to VMWare ESX so may need step by steps.
Thanks to anyone who can help.jockmcgonzo wrote:

Do you know that the root password you are entering is the correct one or are you not quite sure if you know the root password? If you don't know the root password to your ESX box that could be a very bad thing. If you know the root password you are entering is correct and it works on the console login, then you probably have allow remote root access denied.
If you know the password is correct, then follow these steps to see if ssh is allowing remote root access. Granted this is a small hole that is opened up to your mgmt just a fyi
vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config
To enter insert mode, hit "i" and to exit insert mode, hit "esc"
Inside the sshd_config file, move down to PermitRootLogin and change no to yes, case sensitive
To save and quit, type ":wq!" which will force save and quit the vi editor
After you make the changes, restart the sshd service --> service sshd restart
then try logging back in with winSCP

Portal 7.1 + Access Manager in realm mode
OS Solaris SPARC 9.
Components already installed: SJES Directory Server + SJES5 Web Server + SJES5 Access Manager (configured in realm mode with 'Configure now' option selected).
Web Server is listenin on port 8088.
It is said in "SJES5 Installation Guide for UNIX) that Portal Server supports Realm mode only if Access Manager is configured with Directory Server, with AMSDK configured for the data store.
I've installed AMSDK at the same time when installed AM itself. No postinstallition configuration was made.
But when I try to install Portal 7.1 (using SJES5 GUI installer, in 'configure now' mode) in realm mode, i receive following errors during installition:
Sun enterprise system 5 - installed
Java DB - installed (configure after install)
System Registry 3.1 installed (configure after install)

Exploring /var/opt/SUNWportal/logs/config/portal.fabric.0.0.log shows following errors:

May the problem be that AMSDK need additional configuration for datastore?Yes, copy config is enabled in all organisations.
I also tried to create an ldap data store instead of amsdk, but same behavior.
I have "fixed" the issue through a hack now by creating my own ldap login module, simply copied the original one and replaced LDAPPrincipal with my own version. It returns now a correct dn for the user in portal instead of the username only.
Works this way. Alas, it is just a hack...
As far as I can see, the problem is in the IDRepository. Its somewhat:
If (username is a DN) return username;
else return UniversalID;
This universal ID is then used by ps to get desktop information and since it is not a valid dn in ldap the desktop servlet cannot proceed...
I guess the problem does not appear in your environment. Maybe it was introduced with update 1? Do you use update 2?

I have logged in as amAdmin . Below mentioned are my DataStore configurations
DataStore Type : Sun Directory Server with Access Manager Schema
LDAP Server : jophissystem.corp.mycompany.com:389

Kindly let us know how to proceed further as we are waiiting some reply from your team.As I already advised in your previous posting (http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5359095), you are best off re-installing solaris from scratch and installing Communication Suite 6 update 1 if you cannot get Access Manager 7.1 configured.

Security in ODI-specific access to projects and folders
Is there anyway to give project or folder-specific access within ODI?
Some users want to be able to run jobs-but I dont want them to see other projects within ODI.
Thanks.I have managed to create a 'connect without context' profile for non-generic versions, and it works great for projects and folders.
Now, how do I do the same for models and datastores?I want users to be able to access, view, and query data only in specific model/datastores. I have tried assigning specific view rights etc to the specific tables-but everytime the user tries to 'view data' or 'data', he gets an error:
cannot display table's data (java.lang.nullpointerexception)
If I use generic privileges with the existing profiles, everything works great. But we want to make access more specific for each user.

Can't revert back to original DataStore Authentication
I have installed Access Manger using SingleWAR installation option.
The default Authectication for this case is DataStore(Flat file repository)
I changed this authentication to JDBC for testing the connectivity to mysql databse and its use for authentication.
The authectication was unsuccessful (even with the valid user names and passwords which I tried). Now I am unable to login to Access Manager console and change the Authentication back to DataStore.
Any way out ?

Sun Access Manager login problem
Hi,
This is a very basic problem. I have installed Sun Access Manager 7 using JES installer. It is configured to authenticate against a LDAP datastore. I am able to login into the amconsole application using the amAdmin DN but I am not able to login with any other user that I create through Sun Access Manager.Any help will be highly appreciated.
TIA.Hello,
When you create any user through SUN Access Manager, is that user is created in LDAP
datastore, or is it created in SAM flat file repository ? -
Error while accessing Oracle DB through IS
Hi All,
I am facing an issue while accessing any of the database in Oracle. It has successfully created the connection in IS but it throws SQL Syntax error when I try to access that. Can anybody help me who have faced the similar issue? Appreciate the help. I am using Oracle 11g.
Thanks,
MS AnsariHi Ansari,
Have you tried to access the same database through Data Services in IS Server? If not, try to create DataStore to connect the database and create a test ETL job to read data from the table.
If you already have Profiler configuration setup, try to do profiling a table (from this database) in DS, let see how it works. If you not find any issue here, then there will be problem in IS side.
Thanks,
Ramakrishna Kamurthy
