Accessing/Executing URL without bringing up a browser

Hello Friends
I need some help with ABAP. I have written a tool in ABAP that can shut down and restart communication channels in PI. It is working as expected.
The way it works is by calling a URL (a feature supported by PI to control Communication Channels externally) by sending parameters like Communication Channel name etc.,
Since I do this in a loop stopping/starting multiple channels, it opens multiple browser tabs which is kind of annoying.
I would like to know if there is a way to access URL and execute it but not open a browser?
If you can please let me know, I would appreciate it.

Hi Ram,
You can use function module HTTP_GET to access URLs from ABAP and pass parameters to execute the URL without opening the browser. Go to SE37 and use the "where used list" to get sample codes on how to use this function module.
You would need the RFC destinations SAPHTTP or SAPHTTPS defined in the system, as a pre-requisite.

From your description, it appears you want to do an AJAX call where a request is sent to a url without updating the browser window. There are many libraries that make it simple to do this type of thing. http://ajaxian.com/ is a good place to start to look at AJAX if you are unfamiliar with it. Some popular libraries include dojo and jmaki.

How to access Portal URL outside of the LAN

Hi Experts,
Our J2EE engine is hosted on one machine and R/3 is installed on other machine (IP address is different). We have configured Web Dynpro ABAP iVIEW's and Transaction iViews in my portal. To be able to access these two iViews I have to maintain the IP addresses of both EP server and R/3 server IP's in every client host file.
Hence my client system is in LAN it is working with no issues, but we want to access the URL form out of LAN which is not possible at the moment.
Could anyone please advise me how to access the URL without maintaining the IP address in host file
and
able to access the URL out side of the LAN.

Directly its not possible at all, For this you need to publish the Portal Server on Internet.
Once its published on internet then you can access the URL without maintaining the
IP address in host file.
In this your Basis Team and Network team will help you.

How to open a URL without session ID and reuse the current browser session?
That was the behaviour in HTMLDB 1.6 ...
My usecase for this is the following:
We have written an issue tracking application, which sends e-mail to the interested users, when something happens.
In these email we've put a link to some page, with some parameters in the URL.
The idea is for the user to be easy to click on the hyperlink and to see the details of the ticket.
When the user clicks on such a link he is directed to a login screen (page 101) and he enters his Username and password, and is then forwarded to the details for the ticket.
Then he receives another email (e.g. for another ticked). He clicks on the link and :
a) in HTMLDB 1.6 he goes to the details as he didn't close his browser and session is remembered
b) in HTMLDB 2.0 he is prompted to enter username, password with the username populated
Please tell me how can I achieve the same behaviour in HTMLDB2.0 as it was in HTMLDB 1.6.
I understand this change is somehow security related, althogh I don't understand how. If you can explain this either I would be very happy?

"Browser is not supported" message accessing a URL to an Image

Hi.
I have a dynamically generated URL, which points to an image (GIF) created based on a BusinessGraphics chart.
When I access this URL with Internet Explorer (6.0.2900), no problem at all. The image loads and is displayed on IE. But, when I set this URL to be called from other sources (like an Adobe Interactive Form image field, or creating a inputstream based on this URL), the below message is displayed:
Sorry, your browser is not supported by Web Dynpro!
Is there a way to solve it? I need to display the image associated to this URL in Adobe Interactive Form.

Access the reports (as a URL) without entering credentials

Is there a way to access the reports (as a URL) without entering credentials. One of my clients is trying to use a url and store it on Oracle workspace and the reports that are generated he wants to put them there. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm getting an Unable to Log In " An invalid User Name or Password was entered"
I know i have the correct username and pwd b/c I logged on with those credentials earlier. Do you know what i could be doing wrong? I got the path information from catalog manager. Below is the url i created:

AppleScript: How to reload a Safari window without bring the window to the foreground while I am on other Desktop space

I want to write an AppleScript to achive a simple task. That is, I open a Safari window on Desktop 1 and automatically reload every 30 minutes while I do my dialy work on desktop 2.
Here is my script:
tell application "Safari"
    activate
    tell application "System Events"
        tell process "Safari"
            keystroke "r" using {command down}
        end tell
    end tell
end tell
This script works. However, whenever the script is executed, my current Desktop 2 will be brought back to Desktop 1. It is distracting to my workflow.
Is there any way to just let Safari to reload in the background without bring Safari window to foreground on Desktop 1?
I have done a coumple of researches; many of them say I should not use "activate" in my script. I tried that but then the script will just do nothing.

I just found there is also a more generic approach without tweaking of javascript or any third party scripting language involed:

Apache plug-in prob : when trying to access '/weblogic/' URL , "404 : file not found" error is shown

On : Apache 2.0 , Weblogic 7.0, Win 2000
I installed the Apache plug-in for as described in WL docs, but when I try to
access a URL /weblogic/ ( supposed to be configured automatically ) on apache,
I get '404 : file not found' error.
As per the docs, I did following config in Apache:
1. Copied the 'mod_wl_20.so' file found in WLHOME\server\bin directory to the
APACHE_HOME\modules directory
2. Added to httpd.conf :
LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_20.so
3. Apache httpd.conf syntax correct : checked by running ' APACHE_HOME\bin\Apache
-t '
4. Restarted WL & Apache.
Now, the weblogic documentation says,
"Test the Apache plug-in by opening a browser and setting the URL to the Apache
Server + "/weblogic/", which should bring up the default WebLogic Server HTML
page, welcome file, or default servlet, as defined for the default Web Application
on WebLogic Server. For example:
http://myApacheserver.com/weblogic/".
For my server, 'http://localhost/weblogic/' - I get a "404 : file not found" error.
What other configuration is needed ? Do I have to specify '/weblogic/' name anywhere

Displaying images that are accessed through URL

Hi,
I have trouble displaying images that are accessed through URLs in my report.
If I call the URL directly in the Browser the Image can be opened without problems.
The images can be accessed with an anonymous access.
When I deploy the report or in the Preview of Visual Studio I get the following message:
[rsWarningFetchingExternalImages] Images with external URL references will not display if the report is published to a report server without an UnattendedExecutionAccount or the target image(s) are not enabled for anonymous access.
In Layout View of Visual Studio the image is showen correctly.
The Images are stored on a Solaris maschine with WebSphere 6.0 as WebServer.
Any ideas?

Problem Description
Cloned target database TEST1 from source database TEST2 RMAN full backup. But on accessing https url EBS R12.1.3 leads to "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"?
Autoconfig completes successfully on both DB and Apps Tier and have also ran ojspcompile but still the same issue.

Launching URL without Address bar and Menu Bar

I use the following piece of code to launch an URL from the application. I want to launch the URL without address bar & Menu bar. how this could be achieved?

Dev,
As far as I know, the only way to request a browser window to open without address/menu bar is via JavaScript (note that it's just a request - depending upon the browser being used and the security settings, the address bar in particular may end up being shown anyway). So, I don't believe you can do this with an af:goLink.
Note: why do you include an af:outputText as a child for af:goLink? af:goLink has a "text" property to display the text.
Note #2: It appears as if you are launching a link to the app itself - is the only reason you're using af:goLink instead of af:commandLink in order to ensure that the link opens in a new window?

Well, that's it.
The piece of code is this:

url.openStream()The code works fine if I use any other URL without BasicAuthentication.

To access resources protected by HTTP basic authentication, you need to use java.net.Authenticator. Two steps. First you extends java.net.Authenticator, such as:

    }then tell JDK's HTTP module to use it:
    MyAuthenticator authinstance = ...

hi all,
My problem today that I want to execute query without navigation.
I create a global variable
(:global.usr := :block.username;)
as you see the global variable takes the value of the current user accessing the system.
I want the user to be able to change his password without any privilage to see the other users.
when_new_form_instance
execute_query;
that what I did but what I want is to restrict his access only according to the value in the global variable

I tryed to run the following code but I dont know why the condition in the else clause always execute.
