Accessing KM Content by Code

Hey...
The standard iView for KM navigation does not satisfy me in UI manner so I try to create a new UI.
I'm trying to code a new GUI with my own design with JSP and HTML coding, to explore KM content in SAP Portal.
But I don't know how to access KM content, so I can create just linkages to these content with my GUI.
Can you tell me which JAR's I have to use for just access to KM Content and can you give some sample codes ?
Thanks for your responses.

Hi,
To access KM content you have to use the repository framework provided by SAP.
Particularly you can use IRepositoryManager interface and Iresource etc.
See the details from [here|https://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/current/km/index.html]
You can also have some guidance about making on GUI from [here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/1424]
I hope it helps.

Sumit

  • Accessing Documentum Content thru KM in portal

    Hi,
        I am trying to connect to Documentum content thru KM in portal. I am looking for a better approach to do the same.
    http://www.emc.com/products/detail/software/content-services-sap-portal-iviews.htm.
    http://www.emc.com/products/detail/software/file-share-services.htm
    As per the above two  links i understand that documentum content can be accessed by Portal iViews. But not sure from where i can find those iViews? and also not sure whether it can be accessed with Windows file share service?
    Could anybody suggest me which approcah is better ? Either thru portal iViews or thru KM repositories?
    1.    Could anybody guide me what SAP Portal iViews can be used to access Documentum Content?
    2. With either the File system repository manager or WEBDAV Repository manager can we access the the documents directly from the Document file share of Documentum?
    for example.. The Documents are in this path
    Document file share\Repositories\.
    Please guide me on this...
    Point will be rewarded for the rightful answers.
    Regards
    Sireesha.

    Hi,
    I agree that it is worth to try a file system repository on this Documentum File Share.
    However I have some concerns about the performance of this kind of integration.
    I would expect that the Documentum File Share is allready a software tier wrapping the
    core documentum api.
    In addition a file system repository has some disadvantages if you are planning to change the repository content both in KM and in the origin (documentum) system.
    If you do that, the KM file system repository has to synchronize itself again and again.
    The repository (and sometimes the whole portal) may slow down dramatically.
    So give it a try but consider to either buy the documentum repository manager or write your own.
    See the following link to a nice code sample:

  • Unable to access the content of a Window (PopUp)

    Hi,
    I am trying to access the contents of a MovieClip I placed
    inside a PopUpWindow component, but can't figure how to do that. I
    have created the window with something like this:
    var SAedit_win:MovieClip =
    mx.managers.PopUpManager.createPopUp(_root, Window, true,
    {closeButton:true, title:"Arterias Sistemicas",
    contentPath:"contentSA"});
    With this code, the window IS correctly created and the
    "contentSA" MovieClip (which is in the library) is correctly shown.
    However, I wanted to access objects inside "contentSA", but I can't
    find a way to do that. I have already tried:
    - SAedit_win.content (which is read-only...)
    - SAedit_win.contentsPath (which obviously didn't work)
    - SAedit_win.target
    - SAedit_win.contentSA
    Can anybody please help me with that?
    Tanks in advance
    JLonardoni

    I believe I was not very clear in my post... What I want is
    to address a MovieClip inside a Window component I created. I used
    the PopWindow Manager to create the Window instance, and attached
    the MovieClip using the contentPath variable. The problem is that
    now I have no reference to my MovieClip, and thus, I can't access
    objects inside it.
    Is there any other way to create a window using the Window
    component, so that I could have access to my MovieClip?
    Thanks again!

  • Can a HTML Widget access the content of a iBook page?

    I am writing a HTML Widget that will present more information about the content where it is located by accessing a database. To do so, it needs to access the content of the page where it located, or, at least, the page number. Is there a way to do this?
    Sure I can 'hard code' the info in the widget's javascript and have one different widget per page/content, but that will be difficult to maintain and deploy.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi KT!
    Thanks for your help.
    In the same line of thinking I would like to ask if it is posible to access, via javascript, the propeties of the widget so that, in thesis, use the description or title property to pass info to the script about content or page number.

  • Updating a Label content from code behind using dispatcher

    hi,
    I am trying to update a label's content from code behind.
    This part of the code is running in background worker. I wrote the following code to update a label's content:
    volumecontrol.Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(new Action(() =>
    volumecontrol.Content = volumeupdate;
     i tried using both BeginInvoke and Invoke but the application exits with the error:
    System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in WindowsBase.dll
    Using Invoke works when updating the UI from another thread but it not working in this case:
    Pls help.
    Thanks,
    Shaleen
    TheHexLord

    When you do that new action stuff you're capturing variables.
    If that means you grab a control's value across from outside the {} then you're trying to capture the variable on the background thread.  If that's some sort of control you're messing with then that will cause a problem as they have thread affinity.
    Because you don't want to be blocking the UI thread at all you should use BeginInvoke rather than Invoke.
    To explain this clearly - and provide a way you could use to explore what's going on and learn  - we need a separate thread which can be done using Task.Factory.StartNew.
    This bit of code allows you to put code onto a background thread:
    Task.Factory.StartNew(() =>
    // On a separate thread to the UI here
    Create a new solution, add a textBlock and Button:
    <StackPanel>
    <TextBlock Name="tb"/>
    <Button Name="btn" Click="btn_Click">Change the text</Button>
    </StackPanel>
    Then in the button click you can play around with what's going on.
    Just to be clear.
    That textblock is a control and it is created on the UI thread.
    To get from that task thread back to the UI thread you should use Dispatcher.BeginInvoke.  With no control name.
    Let's start with a broken piece of code:
    private void btn_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
    Task.Factory.StartNew(() =>
    string thingummy = tb.Text + "Banana";
    Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(new Action(() => { tb.Text = thingummy; }));
    When you click the button it'll error because when you access tb.Text there you do so on a background thread and tb has thread affinity.
    This, however, will work OK.
    Task.Factory.StartNew(() =>
    Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(new Action(() => { tb.Text = tb.Text + "Banana"; }));
    That's OK because the Action runs on the UI thread where tb was created and all is good.
    Anonymous methods and actions capture variables ( you can google that for more info ).
    If you wanted to use a variable which was created on the background thread you can set it here:
    Task.Factory.StartNew(() =>
    string thingummy = "banana";
    Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(new Action(() => { tb.Text = thingummy; }));
    or here
    string thingummy = "banana";
    Task.Factory.StartNew(() =>
    Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(new Action(() => { tb.Text = thingummy; }));
    They both work.
    They are not accessing properties of a UI control because you're just setting the variable to a string.
    All of which means you could have a variable in your code which is set to volume or whatever that is from your control  ON THE UI THREAD and then modify that variable on the background thread.  Variables do not have thread affinity.  A
    double, string or whatever isn't a control.
    And this approach might well be more convenient.
    Hope that helps.

  • Cannot play Adobe Access Protected Content in Chrome (version 30 and higher); Error 3321/3322?

    Symptom:
    An end-user cannot play Adobe Access protected content.  The client application returns a persistent 3321 (Individualization Error) or 3322 (Device Binding Failure) error code.
    Root Cause in Chrome Browser:
    Adobe Access DRM must create a unique machine identifier (I.e. "token") to identify the the device.  This token is provided to the Adobe Access license server during a license request to view DRM protected content.  If Chrome Browser disables the ability for Adobe Access DRM to create a unique machine identifier, playback of Protected Content will fail with a 3321 or 3322 error code.  By default, this setting is enabled and available to toggle in Chrome Browser version 30 and higher.  Unchecking this option will prevent Adobe Access DRM from properly functioning. A 3321 or 3322 error that persists after a call to resetDRMVouchers is an indicator that this setting may need to be changed.
    Resolution:
    In your Chrome settings:
    •             Click on "Show advanced settings…"
    •             In the subsequent "Privacy" section, click on "Content settings…"
    •             In the subsequent "Protected Content" section, make sure that the following box is checked "Allow identifiers for protected content (computer restart may be required)".
      We are working with Google to allow better detection of this condition, so that the client will return a 3368 (User cancelled or user settings disallow operation) error code when the box is unchecked.

  • Can you use Object Relational SQL to access XML content ?

    Is there a possibility to use the generated object types and collection types to conveniently access the xml data?

    Technically there is nothing to prevent you from using the object types generared when an XML Schema is registered to access and manipulate the contents of the instance documents that conform to the Schema. This would be done using the notation x.xmldata.attribute In this case x would be the object table, xmldata is the name of the instance of the SQL object type associated with the table in question.
    However we do not encourage or recommend this approach. Currently XML DB provides the application developer with DML / DDL independence. This holds true as long as you use XPATH expressions to express your DML operations. Using XPATH expressions to access the content of an XML document maintains an abstraction between the DML (XPATH) and the underlying Object Relational Storage Structure derived from the information in the corresponding XML Schema. Whereever possible, when you express a query using an XPATH expression, under the covers we attempt to re-write the query into Object Relational SQL, based on the meta data contained in the Schema, as access v
    If you use the object notation to access the content of the document you break this abstraction. Your application now needs to be aware of the physical (object relational) storage model being used to manage the instance documents.
    One of the key features of XML DB is that it allow a developer to use Schema Annotations to alter the storage model used to manage the instance documents. The most common example of this is using annotations to control the way in which collections are managed. Depending on the annotation in the schema you can store collections as a VARRAY, as a NestedTable or as a separate XMLType table. Dependong on the technique chosed the objects that are generated during the XML Schema registration process will change.
    If you use the XPATH expressions to accesss the content of your documents, and you decided to change the annotations in your schema so as to revise the way your documents are stored, XML DB will ensure your code should continue to work unchanged, regardless of which objects are generated during Schema registration. On the other hand, if you use the object notation to access the content of the documents, and then change the annotation you will have to change your code.
    I hope this clarifies the situation..

  • Accessing the Content of JMS Message

    Hi, i'm very much a beginner in Java EE so I apologise if the question is overly simple.
    I have an Enterprise Java Application which consists of an application client a web application and a Message Bean.
    The application client can send JMS messages to the message bean, which it recieves and accesses the content with message.getText(). My question is how to access this text in a servlet contained in the webapp?
    Also the servlet can send messages, which another message bean recieves, and which I want to access in the application client. This I also don't know how to do.
    Thanks for your time,
    atreides7887

    1. Do you actually have a need to convert to and from string? Why not send a java instance directly onto JMS?
    2. JMS (and Sun MQ, doesn't provide for the gathering of multiple messages. For that, you would have to either code it yourself, or take a look at iep (See [here for a blog|http://blogs.sun.com/sblais/entry/iep_for_message_ordering] on an aspect of it.) Iep is the exact answer for this type of problems, but it would require you to learn another technology and include open esb in your project. Not something you would like to do at the moment. Later when you're ready, I guess.
    3.With Java, there are many solutions to any problems. Knowing little about the problem you're trying to address, you will get a lot of different avenues from people. Hence, the topic discussion. From this description, it doesn't sound like you need them. The choice for the implementation is yours, based on your needs and expertise.
    It sound like you're using JMS as a state machine for your servlet. Is that the case? Do you actually have multiple applications talking to one another? You may need just a DB to store your image and related information, using the queuing as a trigger to know that the data is there and ready... It would avoid you sending the same data over an over again on MQ... Unless I misunderstand what you are trying to do.

  • Gain access to portal application code in portal 7.3

    Hello,
    I'm particularly interested in a code of tclmitsamuimain~wd floorApp, this is a web dynpro (probably) application that displays the current active sessions of the users in portal.
    since the previous API's to get such information are deprecated, i tried to look for the WAR of the application, perhaps it wont be encoded, but unfortunately it is.
    Is there another standard way of getting access to such a code? or should i go to the idea of decompiling the classes ?
    thanks!

    Hi Eli,
    In general, decompiling SAP classes often brings you further, even if in WD cases this is less straight forward than in classical cases, as the model-driven approach does not always produce easy-to-follow implementations. Nevertheless, at least to get the insight, it makes sense.
    SAP (normally) does not deliver the source code of the core Java implementation of the WAS / the portal / ...

  • Access to ZMSS## t-codes in R/3 by non-HR Users

    In our production system, a user with no HR access was able to access the following transaction codes:
    ZMSS01
    ZMSS02
    ZMSS03
    ZMSS04
    ZMSS05
    These transactions cannot be accessed from the main SAP Easy Access Menu (in R/3). But if you are in a different transaction code and you type “/nZMSS##”, then it opens the transaction. For example, a non-HR user from the Finance team was in transaction ZKKS1 (Variances: Manufacturing Orders and Product Cost Collectors) was able to type /nZMSS01 and accessed the HR reports.
    These are all t-codes that were built for use on the Enterprise Portal to run reports. When used in R/3, they open the same reports.  Since the user does not have any HR authorizations, they were not able to execute the reports to get results, however this is a security concern as a non-HR user has access to HR reporting screens (even though they cannot execute the reports).
    Is anyone familiar with how users could be getting this additional access? Also how does a user have access to the transactions ZMSS## from another SAP transaction but not from the SAP Easy Access Menu? Is there a way to restrict access to these report transactions?
    Thank you,
    Gao

    Gao,
    Did the developers of the t_codes add authorization objects to the transaction codes and programs? If not they should as that is the security restriction you add to a transaction to limit users.
    Go t_code SE93 --> Enter ZMSS01 --> Display and see the authorization object field and maintain the Authorization Object for this t_code.
    *Documentation:
    Auth. object in user master maintenance
    Element of the authorization system.
    An authorization object combines up to 10 authorization fields, which are checked using the AND connective.
    Authorizations are checked against objects in the system. Authorization objects enable complex checks (linked to several conditions) of an authorization. For the authorization check to be successful, the user must pass the check for each field contained in the object.
    Procedure
    Enter the name of the authorization object, which is checked against the authorizations of the calling user when a transaction is started. If the user does not have the necessary authorizations, the transaction will be cancelled.
    You should normally specify an object, which is also checked within the program.
    This check only takes place when calls are made via START TRANSACTION and via the entry "/n<Transaction code>".
    The check is not performed for CALL TRANSACTION or for parameter transactions. If a critical transaction is called in this way, it is the responsibility of the caller to perform the necessary check (AUTHORITY-CHECK).

  • How to access Infocube content using an ABAP program

    Hi,
       I am trying to access infocube contents using a ABAP program in BW.
       It is easy to access ODS content as we have NEW DATA or ACTIVE DATA
       tables. Is there any way we can access Infocube content.
       I tried using the FACT table but it has only Keyfigure data.
    thanks

    Hi,
    I would suggest to use a transactionnal cube, even if you do not use BPS to feed it.
    Then, you create a layout in transaction BPS0 (~ similar to a query), and you can access the cube content by simply using the SAP function <b>API_SEMBPS_GETDATA</b>.
    This is easy and fast.
