Cannot play Adobe Access Protected Content in Chrome (version 30 and higher); Error 3321/3322?

Symptom:
An end-user cannot play Adobe Access protected content.  The client application returns a persistent 3321 (Individualization Error) or 3322 (Device Binding Failure) error code.
Root Cause in Chrome Browser:
Adobe Access DRM must create a unique machine identifier (I.e. "token") to identify the the device.  This token is provided to the Adobe Access license server during a license request to view DRM protected content.  If Chrome Browser disables the ability for Adobe Access DRM to create a unique machine identifier, playback of Protected Content will fail with a 3321 or 3322 error code.  By default, this setting is enabled and available to toggle in Chrome Browser version 30 and higher.  Unchecking this option will prevent Adobe Access DRM from properly functioning. A 3321 or 3322 error that persists after a call to resetDRMVouchers is an indicator that this setting may need to be changed.
Resolution:
In your Chrome settings:
•             Click on "Show advanced settings…"
•             In the subsequent "Privacy" section, click on "Content settings…"
•             In the subsequent "Protected Content" section, make sure that the following box is checked "Allow identifiers for protected content (computer restart may be required)".
We are working with Google to allow better detection of this condition, so that the client will return a 3368 (User cancelled or user settings disallow operation) error code when the box is unchecked.

I rented two movies from iTunes store yesterday. It's still valid. But my iTunes cannot play it. After I click on the 'play' button, the timeline does no move forward and the screen remains in black. No error message pops up. What's wrong with this iTunes player??

It's always the case because iCloud is active all the time and if the device indicated Backup to iCloud an your computer indicated Backup to Computer, you may run into problem.
But this can never be a problem. When you select "Back up to computer" and press apply, iTunes "updates files" on the iphone. I'm not an engineer and my best guess is that by updating the files iTunes changes the device's settings to point to "Backup to Computer".
[Earlier: The sync button used to be visible only after the files were updated. Now, when "Back up to Computer" is selected and we press apply, iTunes indicates that its updating files but the option then shifts back to "Back up to iCloud"]
Incidentally, I was playing around with this and I clicked on encrypt local back and set a password and iTunes accepted that and updated the backup on my computer. This is pretty wierd considering its not accepting "Backup to computer" otherwise.

I wonder how you were able to do that without turning off iCloud Backup on your device.
I guess the older versions of itunes supported that. This problem cropped up after updating to 10.6.0.4

With Sync over wifi enabled iTunes used to open automatically for me whenever my iPhone logged onto the wifi network. Which was a very useful feature for me. I'm extremely disappointed that this is not working now.

  • Adobe Access Protection on iOS devices?

I am having an issue in terms of Adobe Access not supported in iOS. I have been developing a custom player along with a bunch of other back end Adobe Technologies only to find out now that protection is not available in iOS.
DRMManager.isSupported returns false when we test the app in iOS Simulator. DRMManager.isSupported returns true when we use Air Simulator.
I am using OS X 10.9, AIR SDK 4.0, Apache Flex 4.11.0, and Xcode 5.02, and Flash Builder 4.7.
This is a huge problem and amounts to false advertisement because the protection is supposed to be handled by Adobe AIR which is supposed to be uniform across platforms. If protection is not supported on iOS, then the appeal of write one code for multiple platforms is not there any more.
I don't understand why protection is not uniformly supported if the same Adobe Air is installed on both iOS and Android devices. I also don't understand why HDS is supported on Android but not on iOS devices. It makes no sense. The whole reason for using Adobe AIR is to not have to deal with the specifics of each platform.
We were supposed to go live on Jan 1st, but had to postpone to deal with several issues. Now it seems that we may have to reevaluate the decision to use Adobe technologies altogether.
Any suggestions from Adobe would be appreciated.

Your comments on point 3 are sobering and kind of a slap in the face to someone who has been developing a streaming app with the idea that Adobe Air has  99% reach in the desktop and mobile market. I went back to the Http Dynamic Streaming and Adobe Access pages to find the restrictions that I missed when I was deciding on the technologies to use.
The only hint of not being able to use HDS or OSMF on iOS was the omission that Adobe Access protection could be delivered via Adobe Air on iOS devices as shown in the first image below of the Adobe Access technical specs.
On the other hand, there all kinds of statements and illustrations that would make you believe otherwise, especially on mobile devices.
No explicit statement can be found that says that HLS is the only way to stream content to iOS devices, that the OSMF framework is HLS agnostic, and that one has to build an iOS native app from scratch if they want to consume protected HLS. I guess not smth you want to put on a page where you want to market a product.
In building a native app, how do I make up for the lost functionality that comes by default with AIR such as the integration of Adobe Access in AIR, DRM Management, SWF verification, etc.
As it stands, the OSMF framework is a half-baked solution as it cannot be used on iOS devices because it is HLS agnostic….although some folks have written plugins to enable OSMF to consume HLS.
I  am currently testing a plugin to see if I can consume protected HLS. If I fail then I will scrap the entire project…which also means not buying Adobe Access or Adobe Media Servers. Neither will I be looking at Adobe Primetime.
My OSMF based app is able to consume HLS content when I debug in AIR Simulator. Testing on iOS simulator or iOS devices has yet to prove successful. Something breaks inside AIR when it is compiled using iOS SDK.
The reason why I chose Adobe technologies is because it seemed like all the pieces were there to put together a streaming solution that fit my business model. I did not want to have to write everything and Adobe technologies promised a quick time to market. Now 7 months later I am finding out that perhaps I should have read the Adobe Access technical specs with the precision of a lawyer.
In my testing, protected content cannot be consumed in AIR unless DRMManager class is available. In help.adobe.com we read the following:
“The DRMManager manages the retrieval and storage of the vouchers needed to view DRM-protected content. With the static DRMManager.getDRMManager() method, you can access the existing DRMManager object to perform the following DRM-management tasks:
Preload vouchers from a media rights server, using a DRMContentData object.
Query the local cache for an individual voucher, using a DRMContentData object.
    Reset all vouchers (AIR only)
AIR profile support: This feature is supported on all desktop operating systems and AIR for TV devices, but it is not supported on mobile devices. You can test for support at run time using the DRMManager.isSupported property.”
Using OSMF 2.0 framework, I have been able to take advantage of both PHDS and Adobe Access protection schemes in my Flex based app running on Adobe Air on Android. In Android Devices, DRMManager .isSupported returns true.
In iOS, it seems to be a whole different story. As I said in my first post, DRMManager.isSupported returns false when testing via iOS Simulator but returns true when testing via Air Simulator.  So the attack vector idea that you put forward cannot stand because if that was true it would require DRMManager.isSupported to be false in all debugging scenarios not just on iOS Simulator or iOS devices.
The behavior of the app in iOS simulator and Air Simulator is not consistent when it comes to responding to touch based events and rendering visual elements as well. Performance and functionality degrades even more when testing directly on iOS devices. All iOS devices exhibit the same symptoms. For example, trying to select a list item is almost impossible….item renderers simply do not respond when one tries to select an item.
No such symptoms or differences exist between AIR Simulator and Android devices. So, it seems to me that there are AIR to iOS compilation issues when a mobile air app is packaged through iOS SDK. Smth brakes inside of AIR during packaging. I believe that this is the reason why DRMManager.isSupported returns false when testing app in iOS simulator and devices.

  • Cannot play Adobe TV videos

    Windows Vista Home Premium
    AMD Turion X2 64-bit
Default browser Google Chrome (don't know how to find bit).
    Also run IE when necessary
Plug-in list includes 2 Shockwave Flash, both version 10,1,82,76
       gcswf32.dll (Chrome's built-in version) and NPSWF32.dll (for other browsers, I guess)
List also includes Shockwave for Director (something to do with Netscape)
    All plug-ins enabled.
    Video drivers up to date
    Hardware acceleration disabled
PROBLEM: Cannot play Adobe TV videos that have the little square with what looks like 2 little c's inside.  The dots in the black square spin for about 1 second, then freeze.  YouTube videos play just fine.  I have tried several combinations of enabled/disabled plug-ins, with restarts in between, giving the computer time to adjust.
If this cannot be fixed, is there a way to download the videos and watch them some other way?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

In Safari, open your Preferences, go to Advanced and check the "Show Develop menu in the menu bar"
This will add a new menu at the top.
Go to the Develop menu, User Agent and select a different choice which allows Safari to spoof different browsers, OSs and devices.
Selecting Safari for iPad usually works.
However, the choice is page specific. it doesn't stick if you go to another page, you need to repeat the procedure again.

i cannot install adobe reader. I get so far and get the message "Error 1324. All folders or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again" can you help?

We need to know if any registry settings are causing this error.  Please follow these instructions:
from Windows Start | Search: type regedit and hit Enter; you will see a window like this
now click on the little arrow ▹ left from HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Next click the arrow ▹ beside Software, then Microsoft, then Windows, then CurrentVersion, then Explorer, then click on User Shell Folders
all entries on the right side should start with %USERPROFILE%
If you have anything different, this may be the cause for the install failure.
Now you need to repeat the same thing for another key:
    ▹ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ▹ Software ▹ Microsoft ▹ Windows ▹ CurrentVersion ▹ Explorer ▹ User Shell Folders
Here all entries should start with %PUBLIC% or %ProgramData%.  If you have anything different, this may also be the cause for the install failure.

  • How to play previously DRM protected content in 3rd party iOS apps?

I have a collection of tracks which I purchased from iTunes around 2008, which have the iTunes DRM protection. I would like to play these tracks through 3rd party iOS applications. Specifically, the applications "NuVo Player", "Sonos", and "Ambify", although this seems to apply to all 3rd party music apps.
To remove the DRM from the files, I signed up for iTunes match. I enabled the service in iTunes, and let it scan my library. Once it was complete, I deleted the tracks which have DRM, and used the iTunes match service to re-download them. I used the Finder to inspect the new files, and verified that they are no longer protected. They are .m4a format, and are capable of being played by 3rd party applications in OS X.
I then removed the protected files from my phone, and manually re-synced the new files to my phone. Even after doing this, they are unplayable by 3rd party iOS apps. Unsurprisingly, syncing this .m4a file to a new device (which never had the protected version) allows it to play.
It seems that metadata of some kind may be retained on the iOS device. I suspect a full device restore would fix the problem, but I'm looking for a less intrusive solution.

I found that restoring defaults on the device, followed by a restore from backup, allows this track to play in 3rd party apps.

  • "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser" error in Windows 7 and Acrobat pro 8.1.7

I get the error "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser.  Reader will now exit.  Please exit your browser and try again" in Windows 7 x32 and Windows 7 x64 with Acrobat pro 8.1.7.  This happens when trying to open  a PDF file in Internet explorer 8.0.760 or when I open a PDF in Quickbooks 2008.  If I answer ok or cancel the file opens normally.  If I open acrobat 8 first then the pdf files open as expected.  I also tried a copy of Acrobat reader with no difference in the outcome.  Since this happens on two different computers one fresh copy of windows 7 x64 the other an upgrade to windows 7 x32 and they used to work before the change to windows 7, I assume there is some kind of incompatibility with windows 7 and acrobat.  Is this a known issue and will it be fixed in an update to acrobat in the near future?

tvandersluijs - I'm sorry if that screwed up your machine however:
    1. What version of Adobe Reader are you using because as you can see the registry entry is for Adobe Reader 9, if ur using Adobe Reader 8 then u need to specify ur version as PAllens entry suggested - "E.g. "C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat [version]\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""
    2. I've used this solution significantly because I have come across this specific issue for multiple users.
    3. All the registry entry does is tell Windows what program to use by default to open/view PDF documents.
My intention wasn't to screw up ur machine or anybody elses as I said I've used this solution many times however what I've should gave is the disclaimer to backup ur registry before u make mods so u can revert back in case. Also the ony other thing I can think of is that this solution was for Windows XP using registry editior 5, I'm noticing that the title of this thread is Windows 7.

  • Adobe InDesign CS4 ME (Middle Eastern Version) AND fonts

    hello,
does someone know, which Fonts are in "Adobe Indesign CS4 ME (middle eastern version)"  out-of-the-box (without Tasmeem!)?
We have real trouble to find out in advance, what kind of fonts are included or supported (or not).
    thank you.
    knuth

I'm not 100% sure on this answer, but this should at least be helpful:
The fonts in the InDesign fonts folder in CS4 are:
    AlQudsWide_Bold.otf
    Hasan_Hiba_Alef.otf
    EMIRI.otf
    Basim_Marah_Beh.otf
    Nassim-Semibold.otf
    Arabetics_Mehdi.otf
    Nassim-Bold.otf
    AlQudsWide_Regular.otf
    Nassim-Medium.otf
    DT_Qarandash_Beh.otf
    NASKRG.otf
    Nassim-Regular.otf
    Hasan_Noor_Alef.otf
    Nassim-Heavy.otf
There are others in the Adobe general fonts folder (most notably the extended family of Boutros Ads Pro), but I don't know if this was installed by CS4 or a previous version of InDesign. Here's a screenshot of the Arabic fonts currently installed on my system (none of them were purchased, and probably mostly installed by one of the Creative Suites).

  • Cannot uninstall Adobe Reader 7.0.8...keep getting "Error 1402" message..

Hello. I use Windows XP Home Edition. I am trying to uninstall Adobe Reader 7.0.8 so I can then install version 9, but I am not able to uninstall 7.0.8. During the uninstallation process, I get the following error message:
*****Error 1402. Could not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID\{C523F39 F-9C83-11D3-9094-00104BD0D535}\Programmable.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.*****
I went to another forum and asked for some help there...the guy there gave me some steps to follow, and I did so. Here they are:
    1. Deleted "Adobe Reader Speed Launch" shortcut from Startup folder.
    2. Deleted the Adobe folder (which contained 2 other folders: Acrobat 6.0 and Acrobat 7.0) from C:\My Computer\Local Disk\Program Files. I had to use a separate program (provided by my helper who gave me these steps to follow) called "Unlocker" to accomplish this, since, originally, when I tried to delete this Adobe folder, I would get a message saying "Cannot delete pdfshell.dll: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use." Unlocker solved this problem, and was able to delete the Adobe folder.
    3. Rebooted machine
    4. Ran CCleaner's registry cleaner
    5. Rebooted machine again
    6. Tried using CCleaner's "Uninstall" utility to uninstall Adobe Reader 7.0.8. When I tried this, I got the same "Error 1402" message as listed above.
    7. Backed-up my registry
    8. Tried to just delete this particular offending key using RegEdit...but when I tried, I got a message saying this:
    *****ERROR DELETING KEY
Cannot delete Programmable: Error while deleting key.*****
I really need some assistance with this...at the moment, Adobe Reader 7.0.8 still seems to be installed on my machine (it's still listed in "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel, and it still shows up in CCleaner's Uninstall Utility)...despite the fact that, as I mentioned above, I used Unlocker to delete the Adobe folder from Program Files. Also, at this moment, no pdf files will open on my machine...so this is quite an urgent situation. Does anyone know what else I should do now? Is there something I need to do regarding the "Permissions" for this particular registry key?
    I appreciate anyone's assistance...thanks.

Hi..I went ahead and ran the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. I used it to remove "Adobe Reader 7.0.8." After doing this, I checked in "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel to make sure that AR 7.0.8 was gone, and it thankfully was. Then I deleted the WICU, ran CCleaner's registry cleaner, rebooted, and tried to install Adobe Reader 9.0. When I tried this, I got the following error message (this occurred during the time when the installer was "writing system registry values"):
    *****ADOBE READER 9 INSTALLER INFORMATION
Error 1402. Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID\{C523F39 F-9C83-11D3-9094-00104BD0D535}\ProgID.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.*****
What should I do now? Do I need to do something about the "permissions" for this key?
    Thanks to anyone with advice...
