Disable User Access to Accessibility Pane in System Preferences
Hello Everyone,
What I want to do is have a user account which does not have administrator access have access to the System Preferences App but not access to certain functions. Things I want to disable are Accessibility, App Store, Dictation and Speech, Keyboard, Parental Controls, Secuirty and Privacy, and Users and Groups. The reason for this is that this is something I am trying to get setup for as a new design for the user allowances to assist with some issues that have been reported by teachers for sets of student laptops. As a note they need to be able to access things like the Printers and Network menus because these are laptops which are assigned to the students. They will go home with them so they need to be able to have access to change the settings for networks and add printers.
For some background of changes to the system that I have made. I have given access to the students using Directory Utility so they can edit the print settings without having to use an Admin password by updating the groups settings and adding them to the Pritner Admin's group manually. I am planning on blocking access to certain programs like Terminal because the students are using it to force the laptops to "talk" in class which they think is funny but the teachers are finding it disruptive and have asked that I disable this for them. I also am using Netinstall to mass deploy the image that I am making because I need to deploy this to around 100 devices.
I look forward to any suggestions everyone may have for this.
PegasusNHello Baltwo,
I usually post over in the education section when I am posting questions. This is more a question of how do I modify what is available in the system preferences pane than related to me doing a mass deployment. I put those notes in because usually people start off with comments like disable system preferences or why would you want to block access. What I really need is OS specific rather than mass deployment. The search system also loves to look in the iPad forums and just reports back thinks like how to turn the settings back off once they have been turned on. As it stands I do disable the keyboard shortcuts but that does not keep the students out of the pane sadly.
Thanks for the ideas though. If I cannot get an answer here I will try over there next. -
Powerbook g4 cannot access linksys access point
I have an unencrypted access point that I cannot hit with the powerbook. I can easily connect with my pc notebook. The access point is transmitting on channel 6 rather than on the default of 11.
I can only access the access point in a computer to computer mode that will not allow internet access.
I am a pc user trying to help my mom. Last time I did this I believe that I changed the channel of my access point. I also had an encrypted access point that her gbook tends to prefer.
Any suggestions??
Thanks Jon, for jojo1try assigning a static ip add on the computer ( 192.168.1.3 ) .. connect it to the router and then try to access http://192.168.0.2

How can multiple users edit and access same ACCESS file
Hello,
We have 2 access files and multiple users needs to edit and access those files.
How can I enable mulitple access but only one user can edit rest of users are in read-only mode for one file and multiple access and edit on the another file.Hi,
You should split your database in a front and backend. Then create two seperate front ends which you can distribute. If you need readonly you can opt for two options, setting the attributes of the file to read only or create a front end with read only forms.
The last one takes a little more work but is safer than setting the attributes to read only because people can change that back themselfs.

Using Java Access bridge (Accessibility) with oracle forms 6.0 client
I'm trying to use JAB (java Access bridge ) to capture events in oracle forms 6.0 client .
I've a Jinitiator 1.1.8 and JRE version 1.4x
I've configured JAB as per the installation guide . However the events don't surface in Java Monkey .
Has anybody encountered similar issue ? what is the solution for the issue ??
Also on one of the forums I read Jinitiator 1.3x and above is automatically recognised by Java Access bridge .
For jinitiator version less than 1.3 manual configuration is required . however I haven;'t been able to find any on the oracle forms KB
Also here is the excerpt from the link http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/accessibility/faqs/index.html
Q: Are there special steps for using Java-based applications with assistive technology?
A: If the Oracle application is written in Java, such as JDeveloper or Oracle Forms (runtime), customers must first install the latest version of Sun's Java Access Bridge. The Java Access Bridge provides the integration with screen readers such as JAWS or SuperNova that support Java. You just download the Access Bridge and install it. Sun's AccessBridge 2.0x recognizes Oracle's JInitiator 1.3x and above so no manual configuration steps are necessary. The Access Bridge is available from: http://java.sun.com/products/accessbridge. At the time this document was written, Access Bridge 2.0.1 is the most current publicly available production release; Oracle recommends upgrading to this version. Sun's AccessBridge is bundled with Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) and can be found in the Java Runtime Engine (JRE). More information for configuring such products is in the respective product documentation, or on http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/accessibility/products/index.html.

My computer did it's normal Window update as well as updated to the latest version of FireFox. Since then I can access minimum parts of normal websites and I cannot use multiple tabs to search different websites. I restored my computer to before the Windows 7 update thinking that was the problem but I still have trouble accessing sites and extreme slowness with FireFox. Any ideas?

Remote access VPN access across LAN-to-LAN VPN
I have two sites (site 1 & site 2) connected by a LAN-to-LAN VPN. At site 1, users connect with a remote access VPN and need to be able to access resources at site 2.

Access MS Access database on remote computer (shared folder)
Hello,
I need some help.
I've made a program and it works fine on my computer, but multiple users will be using program simultaneously, each one on his own computer conected over local network to mine computer (database is on my computer in shared folder).
When I try to access data on database (path is path of shared folder) i'm getting error 5013 (no database). The problem occurs only when I'm trying to read something from MS access database but not if I try to read data from .txt file, then it works fine...
I'm using ADO Tools
Can someone help me, I would be very greatful?
Solved!
Go to Solution.Thanks to you Dennis I've managed to figure it out.
I'll explain this for future generations
1) I've created DSN. To do that open ODBC Data Source Administrator:
- for 64 bit app C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe
- for 32 bit app C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
In System DSN tab click Add.. then choose Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) (If you do not have this on list download that drivers from web) --> FINISH.
Enter Data Source Name (mine is Test2) --> Select... --> now because the MS Access database is on shared folder on remote PC go to Network... --> Browse... and select that shared folder --> Finish. Now you'll see all .mdb files on that folder and you choose your database --> OK --> OK --> OK
2) Now in block diagram you connect string "DSN=your_dsn_name;" (mine was Test2) to ConnectionString connector of ADO Connection Open.vi
It worked for me.

How to access a Access array in flex
Hi
Guys can any body explain me how to access an array.Actually i am succsufully getting value from array named Dynamic array.
DynamicArray[i].language_1[0].translation;
here the node language_1 is not static it may be language_2 or language_3 or language_4 ect.. so i put that getting value in a variable named key
var key:String = 'language_1'; //Suppose i am getting right value here in key
So please guide me how i access my dynamic array using key so that i got same value as previous code give.
i already tried:-DynamicArray[i].key.translation;
DynamicArray[i][key].translation;
but every time got error.
for more clarity i put array structure here
DynamicArr= Array (@43b1271)
[0] = Object (@43ad219)
contentlanguage_1 = Array (@43b1431)
[0] = Object (@4417a11)
choice_id = "0"
deleted = "N"
downloadurl = "http://94.126.48.105:80/cgi-bin/WebObjects/DataVit.woa/wa/Download/getImage?imageId=1281&f ilename="
selected = "Y"
translation = "2_486"
length = 1
[1] = Object (@4417949)
please Help me out
Thanks In Advance
Vineet OshoHi Vineet Osho,
You haven't tried ---> DynamicArray[i][key][0].translation; This will work
You tried -> DynamicArray[i][key].translation; (This is wrong as you havent specified on which index you want to access)
If still doesn't work ty this...
Try (DynamicArray[i])[key][0].translation;
If the above one doesn't work then try the below one...
var obj:Object = DynamicArray[i];
var translation:String = obj[key][0].translation;
Thanks,

Unable to rename or save changes to access reports in Access 2010
This just started
Tried changing report name, rename is allowed but does not save
If change made to report does not save
If trying to save as new report name error given saying name conflicts
Queries and tables work fine
Database file resides on server and this happens on all PCs, tried local copy to local machine and that has same problem, compact and repair completes but still same problem
Any help welcomedIs the setup 1 Back end on the server, and 1 each Front end on each PC?

[\code]i want to create a table in ms access, name of the table wud be given by the user.
i created a jsp page that takes name of the table from a html form page. i send it to a class file called CreateTbl.class thru the useBean. using setProperty() i assign the name. but seem to have trouble while accessing the database.
once the exception occured during loading the DriverManager and other times during the Statement object creation.
i am including the codes of the jsp and the bean for convinence

It has been a long time since I wrote any code so please excuse the naming conventions and the novice coding.
In VB6 I have successfully opened an MS Access 2003 database with the following code
Public Sub OpenDatabase()
Dim Msg As String
DbOpened = True
MyFile = App.Path & "\PrintDir.MDB" ' Define name of database.
On Error GoTo OpenDatabase_eh
Set MyWorkspace = Workspaces(0)
' Open database.
Set MyDatabase = MyWorkspace.OpenDatabase(MyFile)
Exit Sub
Later on I successfully update the database with the following code
Public Function UpdateDatabase(strFileName As String)
Dim intErrNbr As Integer
Dim Msg As String
Dim strErr As String
Dim a As Integer
On Error GoTo UpdateDatabase_eh
If strFileName = "" Then
Exit Function
End If
BeginTrans
Set MyTable = MyDatabase.OpenRecordset("FileInfo", dbOpenDynaset)
MyTable.AddNew
MyTable![FileName] = strFileName
MyTable.Update
gstrFileName = ""
glngFileSize = 0
gvarFileDateCreated = ""
gstrFileComments = ""
CommitTrans
MyTable.Close
Exit Function
UpdateDatabase_eh:
intErrNbr = Err
strErr = Error
Msg = "Err = " & intErrNbr & ", Error = " & strErr & vbCrLf & vbCrLf
Msg = Msg & " " & gstrFileName
MsgBox Msg, vbCritical
Rollback
On Error GoTo 0
End Function
However, when I try to delete the table entries, not the table, before I update the table I get error 2075,
"The operation requires an open database".
Private Function DeleteTableContents()
Dim strMsg As String
Dim intAns As Integer
Dim DSQL As String
Dim intDCount As Integer
Dim xclSQL As String
On Error GoTo DeleteTableContents_eh
Set MyTable = MyDatabase.OpenRecordset("FileInfo", dbOpenDynaset)
DSQL = "DELETE * FileInfo.FileName FROM FileInfo "
DSQL = DSQL & "WHERE Not FileInfo.FileName = Xtest.jpg" '& "isnull"
'doCmd.SetWarnings False
DoCmd.RunSQL DSQL
'doCmd.SetWarnings True
MyTable.Close
Exit_DeleteTableContents:
Exit Function
DeleteTableContents_eh:
MsgBox "DeleteTableContents - Error Number = " & Err.Number & ", Error Description = " & Err.Description
Resume Exit_DeleteTableContents
End Function
Can anyone see what I am missing?
ThanksHi,
If your question is about VB6 then you will need to ask it in a forum that still supports VB6. Here are 2 of them.

Issue Accessing MS Access database
Dear Experts,
I am doing jdbc to abap proxy scenario where I am trying to read the records from .mdb file. I have a XI server on Unix Environment and I have two issues while picking the records from the MS Access db file .
1.) Since its a newly installed XI server so do I need to have any specific JDBC driver to be deployed for accessing the .mdb files.
Already there has been enough posting regarding this issue and as per my understanding my XI server has JDK 1.4.2 and so I
should have jodbc14.jar deployed. Do correct me if my understanding is wrong. I have tested my scenario without the deployment and while reading the records, the jdbc adapter shows the following error :-
Error during database connection to the database URL 'jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (.mdb)};DBQ=ftp:
erp-e1004-6n1\ajeet:[email protected]\ajeet\employee.mdb' using the JDBC driver 'sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver': 'com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (.mdb)};DBQ=ftp:
erp-e1004-6n1\ajeet:[email protected]\ajeet\employee.mdb': java.lang.NullPointerException'
2.) I have to access the .mdb files from a ftp location as the files are not on the local XI server , they are to be read from a different host which runs on Windows2003. So I am using the following as my Connection parameter:-
jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=ftp:
erp-e1004-6n1\ajeet:[email protected]\ajeet\employee.mdb
where usid :- erp-e1004-6n1\ajeet , pswd:-a1k2c3 and the "10.143.4.103\ajeet\employee.mdb" is the place from where I need to read the records.
So I have two doubts as If I need to correct my connection parameter or I need to deploy the ojdbc14.jar or need to consider both??
