Accessing Oracle 7 DB from Novell Server

We are using a novell server with netware as our web server. I want to access the Oracle 7 database that is on our unix server using java. Do I need sql*net and the jdbc drivers on the novell web server?

I do not totally understand your question,
but let me try to reply.
The Thin driver is 100% in Java. The zip
file (classes12.zip or classes111.zip) is
the only thing you need to run.

  • How to access ,Oracle 7.x,SQL server,MS access data from portal 3.0.7

    hi,
    i am sorry to repost it . but
    we r badly in need of accessing data from Oracle 7.x,SQL Server and access to Portal3.0.7 Applications.
    pl. help us.
    null

    Hi swati,
    1. for this u will also require help of basis team.
    2. these are the steps.
    a) make an entry in DBCON
    b) make connection string
    (on the physical application server,
    so that it can connect to secondary database)
    (this will be done by basis team,
    in which, they will specify the
    IP address of the secondary database server,
    the DATABASE ID, and the port number)
    c) then using open sql / native sql,
    we can use the secondary database connection,
    just like normal.
    d) if we use open sql,
    then there must be Y/Z table on
    sap as well as secondary database,
    and the field names , their type all should be identical.
    regards,
    amit m.

  • MCX From OD has no impact on users coming in from Novell Server

    Well I'm in the process of trying to build my first real image now with 10.5. I've had a Alpha image which was nothing more than an upgrade of my 10.4 image. I have it running on 2 machines in the general populas and thats been going ok. Most of the problems reported I have either been able to work out or attribute to something which won't be here next year anyways.
    The image I'm working on now is for our Art department. Working with 10.5.2 I'm trying to provide the students with a whole home directory, but completely local. I add my OD server 1st to "Directory Utility". At that point I can login with users from it and MCX stuff is working properly. If I login as a local user again MCX stuff is acting the way it should. Then I add my Novell server to "Directory Utility" for authentication. At this point Local users and users from my OD server still are working properly. MCX is still controlling the dock and so forth as they should. However, when I go to authenticate to my Novell server I can login, but MCX doesn't appear to be playing a role at all!
    Please keep in mind I use this same config already in 10.4 and I have no problems right now... Everything works great. A side from the difference of OS 10.4 in the current enviroment and me trying to use 10.5.2 for this image everything else is the same software wise. I'm still in the same WGM group I was in for 10.4. As far as "Directory Utility" goes the only setting I changed is for the Novell setup... NFShomeDirectory variable is set to be "#/Volumes/Local_Homes/$uid$" instead of "#/Users/Guest".
    Now when users log in the first time a home directory is created for them on login (this happens in my login hook) and most things seem to work properly. The user gets to the desktop and they have a home directory everything looks good except they don't have any of the MCX stuff! Unlike when I login as a local user or OD user I have full run of System Preferences (except of course for those settings which require Admin privileged). If MCX was taking place I would have a dock with Apps and access to only like 2 pref panes in System Preferences.
    Initially I thought this was happening because the 1st time the user logs in they don't have a home directory... Maybe login hooks happen AFTER MCX so without a home things didn't happen.... However if this was the case then the 2nd login should be perfectly fine, but its not.
    Right now "Directory Utility" is configured with elementary.gatewayk12.org (OD with all MCX and Staff users) 1st in the policy list and gatorm.gatewayk12.org (Student users) 2nd or last in the policy. Both servers are listed in the authentication tab again in that order. In the past this was enough to get MCX to come from Elementary, but auth as a student to Novell... I tried reversing the order, but that didn't make a difference either.
    Something I noticed about when a student logs in authen to Novell.... When they first login this appears in the log:
    Apr 16 16:38:49 Art-Lab-19 /System/Library/CoreServices/ManagedClient.app/Contents/MacOS/ManagedClient[775 ]: ODUGetMCXRecordWithCache(): [ODRecord setNodeCredentialsWithRecordType:"dsRecTypeStandard:Users" authenticationType:kDSStdAuthNodeNativeRetainCredential authenticationItems:["Ziggy_Topp", password]]) == -14177 (Unable to set extended node credentials for /LDAPv3/gatorm.gatewayk12.org.)
    Apr 16 16:38:49 Art-Lab-19 /System/Library/CoreServices/ManagedClient.app/Contents/MacOS/ManagedClient[775 ]: ODUGetMCXRecordWithCache(): [ODRecord setNodeCredentials:"Ziggy_Topp"]) == -14177 (Unable to set node credentials for /LDAPv3/gatorm.gatewayk12.org with record name Ziggy_Topp.)
    Apr 16 16:38:49 Art-Lab-19 /System/Library/CoreServices/ManagedClient.app/Contents/MacOS/ManagedClient[775 ]: MCXD.gatherUserInfoFor: ODUGetRecordGroups( Ziggy_Topp )) == -14177 (Unable to set node credentials for /LDAPv3/gatorm.gatewayk12.org with record name Ziggy_Topp.)
    Staff members from Elementary looks like this:
    Apr 16 16:41:00 Art-Lab-19 /System/Library/CoreServices/ManagedClient.app/Contents/MacOS/ManagedClient[910 ]: _LSSetDefaultSchemeHandlerURL("http") == -10813
    Apr 16 16:41:00 Art-Lab-19 /System/Library/CoreServices/ManagedClient.app/Contents/MacOS/ManagedClient[910 ]: _LSSetDefaultSchemeHandlerURL("https") == -10813
    Apr 16 16:41:00 Art-Lab-19 /System/Library/CoreServices/ManagedClient.app/Contents/MacOS/ManagedClient[910 ]: _LSSetDefaultSchemeHandlerURL("ftp") == -10813
    Apr 16 16:41:08 Art-Lab-19 com.apple.loginwindow[901]: Password for root on localhost?
    Apr 16 16:41:08 Art-Lab-19 com.apple.loginwindow[901]: lpadmin: Unauthorized
    This repeats again at the end of the login session:
    Apr 16 16:41:40 Art-Lab-19 com.apple.loginwindow[901]: _LSSetDefaultSchemeHandlerURL("http") == -10813
    Apr 16 16:41:40 Art-Lab-19 com.apple.loginwindow[901]: _LSSetDefaultSchemeHandlerURL("https") == -10813
    Apr 16 16:41:40 Art-Lab-19 com.apple.loginwindow[901]: _LSSetDefaultSchemeHandlerURL("ftp") == -10813
    The same message for Staff members happens when I login with a local user too.... Checking with my 10.4 client as a reference the same login stuff is also seen over there not only for OD users and local users, but also for Novell Users.
    One last thing I tried was to enable "Mobility" in my group. Since the mobility prompt normally comes up as soon as you authenticate I wanted to see if it would in this situation. For Local and OD Users the prompt came right up about Mobility... Unfortunately for my Novell users no message at all... I tested this against my 10.4 image and I had the prompt for all 3 types of users.
    So am I doing something wrong now? There was a bunch of stuff in my login hooks that had to be rewritten to be more 10.5 compatible so maybe I am doing something in my config wrong. Could you maybe point me to a document that explains explicitly what is required for on a client for MCX to work properly? With NetInfo gone I'm not really familiar with how MCX is done now in 10.5.... I've done some research on the net but there isn't a lot documented right now about 10.5 and magic triangle style configurations. Of course any other info or thoughts are also greatly appreciated.

    Wanted to add some more notes here. I sat down last night with my Novell guru and we tried some experiments to see if we could limit down this problem. I'll say up front that we were unsuccessful.
    Anyways our first thought was to strip down the Unix template as far as we could. Using Penn States guide on how their 10.5 clients were setup we got it down to the point where all we had was "User" and "Default Attribute Types". Bare minimal config. Still no go. Same symptoms as previous where login is flawless, but there are no MCX preferences in play for the user. They have free rain on the computer like they were an admin more or less. Same MCX errors in the log as previously shown.
    After that we wondered if our group ID could be throwing it off. To test this we set the "PrimaryGroupID" field to "#20" (20 is the local staff group.) Still no joy though. Same problem with the same errors.
    Finally we were curious if it had something to do with rights in regards to maybe writing to the eDirectory. We binded the machine to eDirectory as an Admin user and we still had the same results. On a side note I don't bind any of my machines normally.
    Looking through the logs we still haven't found anything outside of those 3 error lines to tell us whats going on. Again this stuff works perfectly fine with local users, users authenticated from our 10.5.2 Mac OD Server, AND from my OpenLDAP server running in Slackware Linux which has all of the OD schema stuff installed... All 3 no problems. Only when I try to go to eDirectory does this happen.
    I think whats starting to worry me the most is we are suppose to buy more Mac's next year to start shifting some more of our existing ImacDV machines out of play. They will run 10.5 since thats the way they come from the factory now. We also plan to buy about 150 licenses of 10.5 to get all the teacher machines we just bought in September up to X.5 as well. All of these machines need Novell authentication and they all require MCX controlled security and preferences... This is not a good thing at all and I bet some of you guys who also have this problem are in the same boat!

    Now i want to access application from another machine. How to do it?. Can i find any help documents on this & where?

    Hi,
    As i remembered,you do not have to do anything extra to access the URL from other machines.ya both the machine should have the some sort of connectivity and at the max you can make the entry of URL along with ip address of server into your local machine's host file.
    could you please share the error message you are getting ?

  • How to access oracle forms from public ip through internet browser

    Dear Team,
    I have following setup:-
    We are using oracle database 11gR2
    Oracle Forms & reports : 11.1.2
    O.S : Windows 7 Professional
    I am currently accessing forms through local network through browser from server successfully.
    Now I want to access the same forms through public ip through internet browser from a remote location and not from our local network.
    I have also installed Xammp 1.7.7 apache server in the same setup computer.
    Last time I tried to access oracle through http server but xampp http port was conflicting with oracle http server so i needed to disable oracle http server for xampp apache server to work, at that time i was not needing oracle http server, now I need both. Is there any workaround to this for oracle and xampp to work at the same time in the same setup, please let me know.
    Can anybody help me to find solution for this issue.
    Thanks in Advance.

    You have to use two different -different ports for the both
    use 8080 port for the Oracle http and another for another web server.
    you can use proxy to filter the requests and redirect then to another port as per requirement.

  • Access Oracle 9i from a Client Application without Oracle Client Install.

    Is it possible to access an Oracle Database from a Client Application without having an oracle Client Installation ?
    I want to write a program that connect to an Oracle Server. I use Borland C++. But my Programs only works with having the Client Oracle Software installed on the Client. Is there any way to realise this ?

    The way that 99% of the people that want to do this manage is to write Java code that connects to the database via JDBC, using Oracle's thin JDBC driver.
    If you absolutely have to use C++, you can purchase thin ODBC drivers from third parties (DataDirect for example) that will connect to the database without the Oracle client. I'm not aware of any thin, free ODBC drivers.

  • Unable to access gif files from the server

    hi all,
    i have successfully signed an applet and it is loading in the client system also. in that applet, i instantiated a jbutton as given below:
    JButton jb = new JButton(new ImageIcon("http://192.168.91.154:8080/success/set.gif"));
    but the icon din appear and a blank button appears, even when accessed from the server system.
    if i give the exact path like c:/blazix/webfiles/success/ set.gif, the icon is coming in the server system but not in other systems. i tried without port no also but in vain. pl solve my problem. what i need is how to
    specify the path of the file[any file] which is present in server.
    or if i put all the gif files in the jar file, can i access the gif files present in the jar file [set for archive] ? if i can, give me the soln for accessing the gif file present in the jar file, so that i need not access the server to get the gif files.(i.e) how to specify the path of the gif files present in the jar file?
    i ve one more doubt. the jni library file shld be in the server, and the client has to access the library in the server. i think the applet loaded in the client ll search for the library in the local m/c only . how to make the applet to search for library in the server??
    i feel only by using rmi we can solve this problem. am i correct? if so i feel that an appln or applet running in the server shld access the jni library, and the applet in the client side should communicate with this server appln using rmi to get the data.is it correct? is there
    anyother way?
    i appreciate your help in this regard. thanks in advance. bye, padmanbhan.

    Better information on what you are doing with JNI might help you get an answer.
    If you have some server process that needs to use JNI, then I would code a servlet to call, instead of using RMI to ge there.
    Depending on your environment, and the target audiences environment, RMI may just cause you a lot of grief. Firewalls etc, get in the way of RMI connections and force security holes to be opened in order to work.
    If you use a servlet, then traffic to your server process is done via standard http calls, which will already be enabled, because your app runs in a browser.
    If ther data requirements are heavy duty, your server could always send an XML stream to the client, which would allow you to describe complex data to the client.
    Running JNI stuff from the client directly means a lot of local infrastructure to run your app. The code you want to run, the JNI library ....
    If what you have is really an application, but want the convenience of starting it from a browser, look at Java WebStart. Then you can distribute an application via the browser, and WebStart will worry about the deployment issues for you.
    In Summary:
    Stay away from RMI from applets if you can help it.
    If you really have an App, then try WebStart to manage the distribution issues for you.

  • Cannot access sapdb backend from Content Server?

    I am unable to access my sapdb from my Content Server via CSADMIN or with the /ContentServer.dll?serverInfo page.
    I run a Content Server on Unix - version 640, build 16. Here's what I've verified thus far:
    - SAPDB is up and running.
    - x_server process is running
    - apache is running (httpd processes)
    - Standalone gateway on same server is running.
    In the apache error logs I find the following message:
    ErrorDescription: Cannot start Document request, reason: SQLConnect
    failed, [MySQL MaxDB][LIBSQLOD SO][MaxDB] Invalid authorization specification;-4008 POS
    (1) Unknown user name/password combination, Error
    Code: -4008\r\nX-ServerId: server="nwkwcs";serverPort="1090"\r\nX-
    ServerType: SAP HTTP Content Server\r\n
    I had not changed my SAPR3 user or password in the database, so I am confused why this started happening all of a sudden?
    In an attempt to fix, I reset SAPR3 to custom password and ran report
    RSCMSPWS to store the new password in the cs.conf file. However, the
    same error is still a result.
    So, I deleted and recreated SAPR3 based upon SUPERDBA profile with default "SAP" password.
    Then, I commented out DBNAME and PASSWORD in cs.conf file.  So, it should be using the default SAPR3/SAP login to the database.
    However, this did not help either.
    I looked at note 706664, however I cannot even get the repositories to a defined status. I cannot connect via CSADMIN?
    Here's an excerpt from the http://server:port/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?serverInfo page for
    further analysis:
    serverType="SAP HTTP Content Server";serverVendorId="SAPAG";
    serverVersion="640"; serverPatch="0";serverBuild="16";
    pVersion="0046";serverStatus="running";serverDate="2008-07-
    10";serverTime="13:58:28";startUpDate="2008-07-10";
    startUpTime="13:58:20";lastAccessDate="2008-07-
    10";lastAccessTime="13:58:20";
    contRep="Z_EKM_IWBHELP";contRepStatus="offline";contRepStatusDescription="SQLConnect failed, [MySQL MaxDB][LIBSQLOD SO]
    [MaxDB] Invalidauthorization specification;-4008 POS(1) Unknown user name/passwordcombination, Error Code: -
    4008";storageVersion="17";storage="SAPDB";buildLevel="1";contentStorageName="SDB";contentStorageHost="localhost"; security="1";contRepDescription="Content Repository for IWBHELP";
    I am unsure why the Content Server will not connect to the database?
    Points to all helpful answers!
    Thanks,
    Jeff
