Accessing package defined datatypes in oracle from JDBC

the stored procedure looks like this:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE PRISM AS
error_format VARCHAR2(512);
SUBTYPE ErrorString IS error_format%TYPE;
TYPE ErrorTable IS TABLE OF ErrorString INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
To register the output parameter the java code is:
stmt.registerOutParameter(1, OracleTypes.ARRAY, "PRISM.ERRORTABLE");
Problem:
I get an error with DBMS_PICKLER saying that it cannot find the object ( i.e. ERRORTABLE).
How do I reger to the parameter types declared inside the stored procedure
Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Vinay

I am using 8.1.6 (OCI). I do not think I want to use 8.1.7 because the Oracle driver is being called from iPlanet Application Server 6.0. iAS 6.0 only supports the 8.1.6 JDBC driver. 8.1.7 would probably work but if there was a problem, iPlanet would just say it's not supported.
Are you saying that this problem is a known bug in the 8.1.6 JDBC driver?

  • Accessing user_tables and user_tab_columns of oracle from java

    hi, i can not access "user_tables" and "user_tab_columns" from java code while i can access them from TOAD.I connect to the database "HR", which is a sample database of oracle, as "normal".When i write:
    @Entity
    @Table(name="user_tab_columns")
    public class USER_TAB_COLUMNS{
    }it gives an error that user_tab_columns could not be found on the database.What can i do to access these tables from code?

  • Accessing user defined datatype in smartforms

    I have created type group named “zkttp”. In that I have created a data type named zkttp_ty_sflight. I did include that in my smartform “zrkt_sform_saplane”. But it is showing error. This I am trying because I don’t want to send all fields of sflight table in smartform. is this the right way? in smartform i have defined internal table with like as the the above datatype. still it is giving error as "TYPE ZKTTP_TY_SFLIGHT NOT ALLOWED IN THIS CONTEXT".

    Ruby,
    obviously there is no official way to use type-pools in SMARTFORMS, I assume what you created as type group is what you include in ABAP programs as TYPE-POOLS ZKTTP_TY_SFLIGHT.
    If you put this statement inside a FORM, you can use the included types locally.
    Yo don't need to define anything what is existing. In the SMARTFORMS TYPES section, you may define your own type as
    TYPES:
    begin of zkttp_ty_sflight,
      end of zkttp_ty_sflight.
    Then You can use it.

  • User Defined datatypes

    Hello,
    Is there any way we can make user defined datatypes in oracle as we do in Microsoft SQL / Sybase ASE.
    I tried using Abstract TYPE but using it changes the Select query. I need to migrate some Sybase code to Oracle and also need to implement the user defined datatypes for tables.
    Any clue on as to how I can create this in oracle.

    Thanks for your replies.
    Here is how we use UDD in sybase and also how the queries change when TYPE is used in Oracle.
    Eg:-
    ***************** Sybase **************************
    sp_addtype 'name10','varchar(10)'
    go

  • Forms 9i accessing package variables

    I created a package in my sql session which contains only variables. When I connect to the database through Oracle Forms and try to access these variables in a trigger I receive the error "Cannot directly access remote package variables or cursor" How can I access these variables from within a forms module?

    You cannot access package variable or constants directly from a remote PL/SQL client. Only PL/SQL running on the server can access these. You need to implement get and set methods in the package.

  • Help needed to access Oracle from Applet.

    Please help. I have spent days reading info on the web and I simply cannot access to Oracle from an applet to work. Oracle is on a different IP than the Web Server. For my testing I am running the html directly from my local file system.
    Here are the steps I have taken:
    1. Create a key: "%JAVA_HOME%/bin/keytool" -genkey -alias MyAlias -keypass MyKPass -keystore C:\Keys.bin -storepass MySPass
    2. Sign my jar: "%JAVA_HOME%/bin/jarsigner" -keystore C:\Keys.bin -storepass MySPass -keypass MyKPass -signedjar myjar-signed.jar myjar.jar MyAlias
    3. Sign Oracle's Jar: "%JAVA_HOME%/bin/jarsigner" -keystore C:\Keys.bin -storepass MySPass -keypass MyKPass -signedjar ojdbc14-signed.jar ojdbc14.jar MyAlias
    4. Applet Tag (at this time I have the two jars in the same folder as the HTML and JS files):
        <applet id="MyApp"
      codebase=""
      archive="myjar-signed.jar,ojdbc14-signed.jar"
      code="com/company/applets/Test.class"
      mayscript
      width="50" height="50">
        </applet>5. Javascript:
      document.observe("dom:loaded", function() {
      alert("Applet: " + $('MyApp').getVersion());
      $('MyApp').getConnection(url, user, pswd);
      alert("Applet: " + $('MyApp').getVersion() + "Got Connection.");
      $('MyApp').testConnection();
      alert("Applet: " + $('MyApp').getVersion() + "Connection Tested.");
    });Execution:
    1. The applet loads, The browser asks if I want to trust it, I say yes.
    2. The '$('MyApp').getVersion()' works.
    3. The '$('MyApp').getConnection(url, user, pswd);' fails. Java Code:
      public void getConnection(String url, String user, String pswd)
          throws Exception {
        try {
          System.out.println("Driver...");
          DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
          System.out.println("Connection...");
          _conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, user, pswd);
          ...The driver registers, but the getConnection fails with a security error.
    After much reading, I used policytool to update the policy file. It added:
    keystore "file:/C:/Keys.bin", "jks";
    grant signedBy "MyAlias" {
      permission java.security.AllPermission;
    };This did not make any difference. Both IE and FF get the same error.
    The JRE being used is 1.6.0_14.
    Any help solving this would be MUCH appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I have simplified the problem, and now it has nothing to do with Oracle. It is a certificate/signing problem.
    Here are the steps I took to set the test up:
    Certificate:
    "%JAVA_HOME%/bin/keytool" -genkey -storepass MyStorePswd -keyalg RSA -alias MyRsa -dname "CN=Company.com, OU=IT, O=Company Inc, L=Atlanta, ST=Georgia, C=US, DC=mailexpress, DC=com" -validity 999
    "%JAVA_HOME%/bin/keytool" -selfcert -storepass MyStorePswd -alias MyRsa -validity 999
    "%JAVA_HOME%/bin/keytool" -exportcert -storepass MyStorePswd -alias MyRsa -rfc -file MyRsa.cer
    "%JAVA_HOME%/bin/keytool" -importcert -keystore "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\security\cacerts." -storepass changeit -alias MyRsa -file MyRsa.cer
    Jar Signing:
    "%JAVA_HOME%/bin/jarsigner" -storepass MyStorePswd -keypass MyStorePswd -signedjar Text-Project-signed.jar Text-Project.jar MyRsa
    "%JAVA_HOME%/bin/jarsigner" -verify Text-Project-signed.jar
    Result: jar verified.
    HTML:
        <applet id="MyApp"
                codebase="file:/c:/projects/Text-Project/js/Memory"
                archive="Text-Project.jar"           <== unsigned test  OR

  • Accessing a variable defined in one class from another class..

    Greetings,
    I've only been programming in as3 for a couple months, and so far I've written several compositional classes that take MovieClips as inputs to handle behaviors and interactions in a simple game I'm creating. One problem I keep coming upon is that I'd love to access the custom variables I define within one class from another class. In the game I'm creating, Main.as is my document class, from which I invoke a class called 'Level1.as' which invokes all the other classes I've written.
    Below I've pasted my class 'DieLikeThePhishes'. For example, I would love to know the syntax for accessing the boolean variable 'phish1BeenHit' (line 31) from another class. I've tried the dot syntax you would use to access a MovieClip inside another MovieClip and it doesn't seem  to be working for me. Any ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks,

    I would approach it in much the same way as you would in java, by making getters and setters for all of your class variables.
    Getters being for returning the values, Setters being for setting them.
    So you would make a get function for the variable you want to access ala:
    function get1PhishBeenHit():boolean {
         return this.phish1BeenHit;
    Then to access the value of that variable from outwith the class:
    var result:boolean = ClassInstanceName.get1PhishBeenHit();

  • How to Insert data in oracle from Ms access

    Gusy
    i have developed software in oracle & write now there is a requirement to get ms access data & insert in oracle table,so how can it possible through JDBC Driver.\
    thanks in advance.

    Is this a one time push? Or is the requirement really to have your software periodically connect to a "desktop" application database (access) to pull data from?
    If it is a one time push, you can create an odbc connection (in access) to your oracle database to push the data there.
    http://wiki.oracle.com/page/ODBC
    Or, you could create csv files from the access data and then use sqlldr or an Oracle external table to load the data.
    But, since this is a Oracle Java forum and you really need to connect to Access from Java you will need to get a jdbc-odbc bridge:
    http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/faq.html#5 (notice the fancy Oracle icon on the Java site)
    >
    5. How can I use the JDBC API to access a desktop database like Microsoft Access over the network?
    Most desktop databases currently require a JDBC solution that uses ODBC underneath. This is because the vendors of these database products haven't implemented all-Java JDBC drivers.
    The best approach is to use a commercial JDBC driver that supports ODBC and the database you want to use. See the JDBC drivers page for a list of available JDBC drivers.
    The JDBC-ODBC bridge from Sun's Java Software does not provide network access to desktop databases by itself. The JDBC-ODBC bridge loads ODBC as a local DLL, and typical ODBC drivers for desktop databases like Access aren't networked. The JDBC-ODBC bridge can be used together with the RMI-JDBC bridge, however, to access a desktop database like Access over the net. This RMI-JDBC-ODBC solution is free.

  • INTERVAL datatype in Oracle JDBC

    Oracle now supports the SQL Standard INTERVAL datatype. However the 9i thin driver JDBC documentation has no mention of INTERVAL and it is not at all clear what JDBC type and Java language type an Oracle INTERVAL should map to. Is there JDBC support for INTERVAL? How do I use it?
    Thanks!
    George

    Tin,
    Doing an internet search for "oracle java interval" led me to a code sample on OTN entitled:
    Using 'Interval Day To Second' Datatype from JDBC applications
    That sample maps the "interval day-to-second" data-type to the "oracle.sql.INTERVALDS" class (in the "ojdbc14.jar" file). I then took a guess that the "interval year-to-month" data-type maps to a class called "oracle.sql.INTERVALYM", so I checked whether such a class exists in the "ojdbc14.jar" file -- and it does!
    I didn't go any further, but maybe it is enough for you to continue?
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • 'set scan off' or 'set define off' now working through JDBC on Oracle 10g

    Hi,
    I am using oracle 10g. I am trying to execute 'set scan off' statement through JDBC (java code) using below statement
    //get connection Connection c = this.init();  //create statement object Statement st = c.createStatement();  //execute statement st.execute("set scan off");
    but it is throwing below exception.
    'java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00922: missing or invalid option'
    I also tried 'set define off' but got same exception. But if I run these statement directly on database without using JDBC there is no exception.
    Please let me know what is the issue.

    Please let me know what is the issue.These are not SQL statements but specific Oracle commands. You would invoke them from PL/SQL through the command interpreter or by using Sqlplus on the commandline; if you try to execute this in a PL/SQL query window you'll get the same error.
    So no, you are not going to invoke them from JDBC.

    Regards,
    Shweta.

    You'll need to provide a column alias for the function call:
    select func(val) as alias from dual

  • Error connecting to Oracle from when running SSIS Package on Windows 64-bit

    Hi.
    I have an SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) Package that reads a view on Oracle and loads data into table in SQL Server 2005. This is on a Windows 2008 Server (64-bit). SQL Server 2005 with SP3. Oracle Client 11g (32 bit & 64 bit) Runtime Version installed on server. The server has been rebooted since installing OracleClient.
    I get the following error when run as a SQLAgent job 64 Bit (Execution type SQL Server Integration Services Package)...

    When I execute this same exact package as a SQLAgent job 32-bit (type Operating System CmdExec) it runs successfully. When I run the package using the Execute Package Utility, it runs successfully. When I am editting the package in BIDS I can connect to Oracle. For both 64 and 32 bit, I use a dtsconfig file which specifies the Oracle connection string and password.
    Someone mentioned on another forum that maybe there is no Oracle ODBC driver for 64-bit Windows. I would assume that the OracleClient 64-bit would include that.
    I hope I have included all info needed. Please let me know if you may have a resolution to this problem.
    Thanks.

    I was trying to transfer data from oracle to sql server 2008 on a daily basis.
    I have very hard time connecting to oracle from ssis package on windows server 2008. I am almost dead and cannot find any help. i was able to connect to oracle using import/export 64 bit feature of SQL Server 2008 using Oracle provider for OLEDB. But I am not sure why the same does not work with BIDS?
    Here's the environment info:
    1. Oracle Client 10g
    2. SQL Server 2008
    3. Windows Server 2008
    Appreciate your help. Please save me.
    Thanks,

  • Some questions about accessing Oracle from another machine with OEM

    I followed this great tutorial on how to get oracle8i installed and working on rh6.2. http://jordan.fortwayne.com/oracle/
    Great job to the writer)))
    Know I need a little more info on where to go after it is up and running...
    I downloaded the client for NT and I would like to access the Linux box using OEM from a Win2000 laptop however I really have no clue what I am doing and how to make this happen can someone please point me to a tutorial simular to the install tutorial I found?
    Thanks

    You need to install OEM on your Windows box. From there go to your OEM configuration assistant in the start menu. Run it and point it to one of your instances on your DB server. You must provide a user name and password for the DB it will then connect and build a repository for OEM. After that run the OEM console application and connect to OEM using sysman for your login and oem_temp as your password. This should get you going.
