Accordian Bug in IE7
Page
with errors - does anyone have any thoughts on this? I've tried
playing around using different tags instead of divs, but still the
same result. What's weird too is that I have accordians on the home
page and I'm not having the same issue. Thanks for the help
Hi mycnlbrad,
You're going to have to clean up your markup for that page.
I'm seeing unbalanced </td>, </tr> tags, multiple
<html>, <head>, and <body> tags, and the document
is missing the close </body> and </html> tags.
The error you are seeing is the accordion reporting a broken
markup structure. This could be due to your unbalanced tags.

Problem/Bug in IE7/EM combination
Good morning,
Just as an FYI,
When using IE7 Version 7.0.5730.13 and EM (as installed by the download available from Oracle), it is not possible to do a CTAS in the "Create Table" page of EM. This is because the drop down list labeled "Define Using" will not drop down therefore disallowing the CTAS option (and the XML option as well.)
Everything works fine in Opera and Firefox but, that is no guarantee that the problem isn't caused by EM.
John.
PS: Anyone interested in reproducing the problem can follow the steps given in this OBE page:
http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/db/11g/r2/2day_dba/monitoring/monitoring.htm
Step 12 cannot be accomplished using the version of IE7 previously mentioned.
Edited by: 440bx - 11gR2 on Sep 1, 2010 11:24 AM - Added instructions to reproduce the problemThe XSLT SE endpoints as you've defined them will resolve to a single entry in the JBI descriptor, which does not contain the operation name. One entry, one service endpoint. The single entry resolves to the last operation in the XSLT config file.
Create a unique partnerLinkRole in the WSDL for the 2nd operation. Update the XSLT config file by adding the operation with the new role. This should cause a 2nd JBI descriptor entry to be created.
Alternatively, I believe the CASA editor addresses this exact issue when 2 operations share the same partnerLinkType, role, and portType.

The redirect on Dynamic Lists and Forms does not redirect properly in IE7 if set up in a frame. I know I hate and never use frames but it was a rush job.
Redirects to the framest in the maincontent window.
Works fine in all other browsers.
No, I don't expect it to be fixed either

On mouseover, selected thumbnail expands behind other
thumbnails instead of hovering over them. Works fine in FF.
Is there a way to fix/override this?@Kin
The gallery demo files do not put an anchor link around the
thumbnails. The article you list is describing how to alter the
files for (newer?) examples that require about 8 different include
files -- which, given the already HUGE download hit required to run
a photo gallery, seems excessive.
Can adobe not write up a solution that works for the sample
files for the gallery that only requires 3 includes + 1 css file
(which can be added to your own style sheet to avoid yet another
file download)?
Or, is there someway to grow the thumbnails from the bottom
right corner, thus avoiding any overlap by subsequent thumbs? I
tried setting the grow from center to false in SpryEffects but it
appeared to have no effect on the function in the gallery. -
My Spry drop down menu appears behind the text on my pages in
IE7, because of the apparently well-known bug in IE7's
implementation of positioned elements and stacking contexts (
explanation
here).
Is there a solution, or will I have to create a different
menu system for IE, and do some browser-sniffing? Bit of a drag,
that...
Here's the problem in action (if you use IE7...) go
here
and click on the "MENU" icon in the top left of the screen...
Thanks for any advice.Hi Gaurav! Thanks for your reply.
I do indeed use a lot of Javascript, but it's all
encapsulated ("namespaced") and so it shouldn't be interfering with
anything!
Maybe I tweaked something in the Spry code that I shouldn't
have, but I can't imagine what...
I will try rebuilding the Spry menu, as you suggest.

Hi,
I have created a Spry Accordion containing 7 sections, using CS4. It works perfectly in Firefox, however there is a strange bug in IE7. The top section requires the scrollbar and this is working ok. However, the other 6 sections all have the same problem (btw, none of these other 6 are needing the scrollbar as the text does not fill the content area) - the bottom line of text in each of the 6 other accordion sections is not displayed. All the other text in the 6 sections is ok (other than the fact that the top margin is non-existent - I assume that can be fixed fairly easily)
Has anyone else had this problem, and are there any know fixes?
many thanks for any help offeredSince the answer to your question requires some knowledge of Spry, you might want to post it in the Spry forum. Be prepared to post a URL to the problem page, if asked.

Submenu's not showing up in IE7
I just finished a site with pull-down menus that I modified
somewhat from Spry. The sub-menu which is under the link "Services"
works great in Safari and FF but does not work at all in IE7. A few
people have pointed out some CSS conflicts that showed up in the
CSS validator, but they don't seem to relate to this problem. The
site is www.liveandlearn-usa.com
Thanks once again.....Part of the sub menu does show up if you hover over it but is
obscured by the photo just below it. Have you tried changing the Z
index of the photo or the menu?
I'm using IE7 in windows. It works fine in Safari. There is a
css bug in IE7 that changes the Z index - I had the problem earlier
this week.
See

Strange hover behaviour in IE7 b3
Hi All,
I have styled a dynamic table to zebra-stripe the rows. This
works fine.
However, I also want to add a hover effect to highlight the
row that the mouse cursor is on. This works fine for the odd rows,
but on the even ones (which is where the class is being dynamically
added) the text picks up the hover behaviour, but the background
stays grey instead of turning blue as required.
Yes, I know that IE7 is beta software, but it is far more
standards-compliant than IE6 and below, so unless this is a known
bug in IE7, I'd rather not get into a discussion about it.
If anyone has some insights into why this is happening (i.e.
what I'm doing wrong!), please let me know.
The table code is as follows:
<table class="catalogue" width="90%">
<colgroup>
<col id="LotCol" />
<col id="DescCol" />
<col id="PicCol" />
<col id="EstCol" />
</colgroup>
<thead>
<tr>
<th scope="col">Lot</th>
<th scope="col">Description</th>
<th scope="col">Pictures</th>
<th scope="col">Estimate</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<?php
$n = 0;
while ($row_rscat0166 = mysql_fetch_assoc($rscat0166)) {
$theclass = ($n++ % 2)?'evens' : '';
echo '<tr class="'.$theclass.'">';
echo '<td>'.$row_rscat0166['Lot'].'</td>';
echo
'<td>'.$row_rscat0166['Description'].'</td>';
$image = "mealys_files/cat0166/".
$row_rscat0166['Lot'].".jpg";
$imagelg =
"mealys_files/cat0166/large/".$row_rscat0166['Lot'].".jpg";
if (file_exists($image)) echo '<td>'.'<a href="'
.$imagelg. '">
<img src="' . $image . '" /></a>'.'</td>';
else echo '<td> </td>';
echo '<td>'.$row_rscat0166['Estimate'].'</td>';
echo '</tr>';
?>
</tbody>
</table>
And the CSS:
.catalogue {
border: 1px solid #737A80;
border-collapse: collapse;
.catalogue th {
border: 1px solid #737A80;
background-color: #AAAAAA;
background-image: url(mealys_files/tableheader.gif);
background-repeat: repeat-x;
background-position: bottom left;
font: 1.2em Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
padding: 0.2em;
color: #fff;
font-weight: bold;
.catalogue td {
font: 0.9em Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
padding: 0.5em;
border: 1px solid #737A80;
.catalogue tr {
background-color: #efefef;
.catalogue tr.evens {
background-color: #cecece;
.catalogue tr:hover {
background-color: #3d80df;
color: #fff
.catalogue thead tr:hover {
background-color: transparent;
color: inherit;
Thanks,

Sorry to reply to my own post, but when I read it (after
posting) I noticed the missing semi-colon after the color: #fff.
Now working fine.

FW 8 popup-menu in CSS problem with IE7 & Safari
Hi,
hope that anyone out there got some ideas in my issue. I was
already searching the forum for advice, but couldn't find
meaningful infos.
Here is my problem:
I designed a page in FW8 (Mac) with a nice popup-menu. I
exported this thing into DW8 having set the option to export the
menu as CSS and slices to layers. Then I rearranged the html File
and included some editable regions, as it was to be used as an
template.
Everything works fine in Firefox but IE7 and Safari
experience some problems.
The popup-layers are displayed behind the main text-area and
not in front of it - this makes navigation a bit complicated.
So teh menu is displayed with text and everything, but behind
the main text.
What I tried:
I tried to reset the z-Index of the popup-layers to values
below 10 (were set to 500) - didn't help.
I gave every single item a z-index - didn't help.
I gave the main text area an z-index of 0 or -1 - made the
layer disappear.
I reexported the whole thing - made me just crazy.
I worked through the css file for errors - maybe I'm not to
good in CSS ;)
I checked the forums, but could only find issues where the
menu was not displayed at all or the text was missing - doesn't
apply.
-- no more ideas :(

I don't think this is accurate. Each browser supports things
differently,
and CSS is no exception, but support for javascript is fairly
reliable
across the board.

Slideshow not working in Internet Explorer 8
I have a slideshow with transparent PNG's sliding over a background image, and everything works fine in all browsers, except Internet Explorer (shock). I have just tested it in IE 8, and instead of generating a horizontal slideshow, IE just shows all the slides placed over each other.
As shown in the low-res picture below, the four PNG's are placed over each other. And because all the slides are shown at once, the next and previous buttons doesn't work.
What is wrong?Given your design and the fact JPG images are generally about 1/5th the size of the equivalent PNG image, the best approach is to put a solid white background on the images in the slideshow. It will improve the page load time (because opaque images can be saved as JPG) and it will avoid the many bugs with IE7 and IE8 related to transparent PNGs and transparency in general. (Muse has a lot of workaround for these IE bugs, but it appears your combination of transparency is one Muse doesn't automatically provide a workaround for, yet.)

My first two accordion panels start out okay, but then 3, 4,
5, and 6 are very jumpy when they open. I think it's because
they're so text-heavy. Can you suggest a fix?

That's a bug in IE7 rendering engine. It's exacerbated in
pages with floated
columns, or tiling background images, or simply lots of
content under the
accordion.

IE7 Padding Bug with Spry Effects
I'm having a recurring issue with using the Spry Blind effect
in IE7 where, when upon trigerring the Blind, the width of the
element being expanded/contracted is expanding out to the right
over it's edges.
For example.
A div with a width of 800px and a padding of 20px;
When a Blind is triggerred on this element, the width of the
element would expand to 840px, the padding on the left side remains
fine, but the text now goes all the way to the right edge of the
newly widened element.
This has been extremely frustrating and doesn't occur in
Firefox.
I'm hoping this is a common problem. My implementation of the
script is fairly straightforward so I don't know if there is
anything else but a bug with the effect.Here is a somewhat messy version of the page I am working
with.
http://derekprospero.com/michael/example.html
If you click the green down arrow at the bottom of the top
right pane you will see the error.
The table expands out past the borders of the div. The
padding-left and padding-right on this div is 20px each, and it
expands out to 40px past the border of the div, so I am assuming
there is some correlation.
It also happens on the bottom one, though it is not as
evidence, since the text goes behind the background, isntead of
over it.
