Account Blocked -- Skype Support Won't Unblock

Skype blocked my account after an unauthorized login and order and has since made it impossible for me to unblock it. If anyone has successfully gone through this process or gotten their Skype credit refunded, I would love to hear how.
Over the past couple months, I have completed their unblock account form (both on the support website and from the follow up email link) at least 10 times and have emailed their customer support.  Each time, their customer support emails me and sends me back to the SAME FORM (even though I have, in the form comments, been including my "case number").  At first I could not remember when I opened my account or my payment method and left those fields blank but added notes about the approximate time (6 years ago).  I have since reconstructed that information from my files.  I am 100% certain that the information I have provided on the forms (at least the last 4 times) has been complete and accurate.
It is  unconscionable for Skype and Microsoft to hold my credit amount hostage and provide ZERO customer support.  The email responses often have typos, and for a moment I thought that I might have actually clicked a link to a fradulent website that was actively trying to rip me off! I went back to their website and resubmitted the form and got the same run around -- it really is Skype/Microsoft having appalling customer service.
I would report them as I believe that their holding account credit hostage must violate some sort of consumer protection.  (If their awful customer support really can't verify my identity, shouldn't they just be able to refund my Skype credit to the original payment method?).
At this point I really just want my money back, to close my account, and NEVER use Skype again.

horrible horrible, just had the same drama, after a week of robotic email replies I thought, maybe it IS a robot! Then I thought with incredulity, I've been trying to explain myself time and time again TO A ROBOT!!!  It is scary that you can't prove who you are even when it really is you.  I finally got onto a real person at Microsoft and have got a new account working (after much fiddling around, as the other one kept opening by default) but the other one is still in limbo with my credit in it.

  • Skype account blocked and they won't unblock it.

I had this really old skype account, I believe I created it when they released skype, but I had like 7 contacts or less, and used it like once a month, sometimes once a year, I don't know. But I used msn messenger a lot, and my account was really old aswell, and when they merged it with skype, I had to merge my accounts, so that's what I did. but at that time, it was so complicated, you had like two contact lists, on the same software you could send messages as a messenger account, or a skype account, to messenger or skype contacts, and it was really not user friendly, it was impossible to use, even tried to clean my list, deleting duplicated entries, people i never talked to, but still didn't do it, so once again, I abandoned skype and went to facebook. so last year I went away and wanted to do a video call to my girlfriend, so we installed skype. I didn't remember what account name I should use, or wich password was correct, and for some reason my account got blocked. i'm not even sure that i entered a wrong password, but it got blocked anyway. when i tried to retrieve it, said i had to contact support and cmon, to reset your password you have to contact support???? no thanks, decided not to use skype again, and made a video call with facebook.  but as of this week, I wanted to make a video call from my android phone, and decided to give skype another go, people told me that it was a good video app, so why not. and there was i trying to retrieve my password, when i ran through this form to fill with a lot of irrelevant information: if i "used credit card to pay for a skype service or if i used paypal." how the hell should i remember a thing i did once in my life and many years ago? i don't know if i used credit card or paypal, how should i know wich credit card i used? ok, next field: "what email address you provided when you registered." ok, when i registered my first skype account, or my messenger email wich i merged later? because i don't know what email i was using back when they launched skype, ffs. so i put my messenger email and procceeded. next question, when did i create my skype account (year AND month). again, my old account, or the one i merged later? and how the hell should i freaking now the year or even the month i created it??? was like centuries ago, cmon!!?! next question, "provide five names that are in your contact list." heck, I had hundreds of people on my messenger, wich i often deleted and replaced, and barely 5 or 7 contacts on skype, wich i never used, and when they merged, i reorganized my list, so i had no idea wich list they were talking about, or who was on it. next question, "what is the total cost of a recent order that you have made." you're kidding, right? next, on what date did you place the recent order (dd/mm/yy)? ... next, "please provide two phone numbers that you have recently called or contacted using skype." god, i tried to order a pizza once, and i called my mother another time, but how am i supposed to remember wich pizza place, and if i called mother at home, work, cellphone 1, 2, or what? jesus. I answered the other questions properly, but apparently they 'don't have enough information to retrieve my account" thanks microsoft. I really wanted to use that account, since it's linked with my microsoft email, wich is also my xbox live account, and some other stuff, and I don't want to have 2 ms addresses, but ok, i really needed to make a video call, so i tried to create another account. I was on my pc trying to solve this problem, so I opened skype website and clicked create account. luckily (or is it?) there was an option to create account with facebook, so that's what I did. and when I went to my phone to login, bam, no option to log in with facebook, and when you create an account that way, you just don't have a name or password to log in on your mobile. good job ms! thanks for ruining my day, and good luck beating apple, google or facebook when you keep treating your costumers like **bleep**.

I've recently noticed that my skype account has been blocked. I don't know what the issue is. I have the password, but it won't let me make calls. I have cash on the account too. But now it is requesting me to fill in forms. What year did I set up my account? 10 years ago or so, maybe 11, maybe 9, 8, 7, not sure. What card did I use to last put money on it.... not sure, it was about a year ago, debit or credit? Can't remember. But out of the 10 questions, I seem to have got one wrong, but it won't tell me which one. I have asked customer service for help, but the genius just asked me to refill in the form. I did again, same issue, something wrong (waiting for 24 hours for failure notification on both occasions) I've asked him to point out what is wrong, but genius refuses to. Honestly, a pathetic customer service experience. 0/100 score. Just some autogenerated BS from India. I've had to now set up an entirely new Skype account. So warning, if your account is blocked, don't bother with customer service. They are useless. Just set up a new account and forget about what ever cash is on your account. Thanks Skype!!

  • FURIOUS WITH SKYPE They won't unblock my account but keep charging me $$$!

I travelled to France in July 2014 and planned on using Skype to stay connected to friends and colleagues. To my dismay, Skype promptly blocked my account. Since then, I have filled out the Account Verification Form over 10 times and they will not unblock my account. They also won't tell me what information is missing/incorrect. I get it, it's a security thing, but I am who I say I am and have invited them to call me, email me, write to me at my billing address, etc. I signed up for Skype back when it was first launched, over 10 years ago. I'm SORRY, I don't remember what email address I used 10+ years ago! I don't like to put my real DOB. I'm SORRY, but I don't remember the DOB I put. I think I signed up in the USA but, IT'S BEEN OVER 10 YEARS, I DON'T REMEMBER. AND I DON'T REMEMBER THE EXACT MONTH AND YEAR I SIGNED UP!! Skype support will not do anything to help me, even though I've been a loyal user for so long. To make matters worse, they keep charging my credit card $18.54 every month for a service they won't let me use!! Well, I've had it. I'm NEVER filling in an Account Verification Form again. All I want now is to cancel my account, get a refund for the charges and move on with my life (to Google Voice, thank you very much). But THEY WON'T LET ME!! They say they can't cancel my account because they can't verify who I am. I'M STUCK IN SOME HORRIBLE LOOP WITH THEM AND THEY WON'T HELP. Please, Skype community, HELP ME! Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Many thanks in advance.

Was that part of the blocking process that needs to be undone?
    Please advise. Thanks! N
    Hello Noah
To request a refund please follow this link.
The removal of any contacts wouldn't have been done by Skype and is not part of an account unblocking process. It usually happens only if an account has been compromised by third party. Please consult with Customer Service to establish the best way to restore them.

  • Account Hacked - Skype Support Useless - NO REFUND...

So my skype account was hacked last week, just found out right now. Luckly my credit card on file had expired so they only ate $8. To make it worse, the Skype login and password change system on the website isn't working properly (even though their heart beat page says its fixed), and Skype support kept trying shift the login problems on me. Oh... and no refunds? Hmmm... well... no more money for you Skype. Not one cent ever again. Its computer to computer chats from now on, and I'll find a better VOIP provider.
So here's the transcript of my "support" chat... useless or very useless? you be the judge...

  • Blocked iPod Touch won't unblock

    Hi,
My daughter had not used her iPod Touch for some time and forgot her passcode. After entering the wrong code a few times the iPod is now locked.
Today I have been trying to unblock it for her after ignoring the problem for about a month!
Apparently you hold down the home key while plugging in the sync lead, wait for a bit, and iTunes should go into restore mode. Well, No. It doesn't. It just keeps telling me that the iPod is locked and I need to enter the unlock code. The iPod keeps telling me it is blocked and I should connect to iTunes!
I also tried the other thing of hodling the power button for 2 seconds, then the home button for 10 seconds, then releasing the power button and continuing to hold the home button. Guess what happens next? You guessed it! iTunes just keeps telling me that the iPod is locked and I need to enter the unlock code. The iPod keeps telling me it is blocked and I should connect to iTunes!
Can someone please help me with this? Why is it not going into Restore mode or DFU mode (or whatever it is called)?
Is there some other way to force it to behave or do I just drive a 6 inch nail through the F-ing thing to make myself feel better?
It shouldn't make a difference but iTunes 11 is on a PC running 64 bit Windows 7.
    Thanks

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

  • Skype Account Hacked, Poor Support, No Refund

Hello I have been an active Skype user for 5 years and spent EUR 876.51 on 'Skype Out' calls. Sometime between May 21st and 22nd my account was hacked, and many calls made to places I have never called. The net loss to date that I have to pay is EUR 38.15. Skype support was POOR, almost embarrassing, and like many others on the previous 'Forum' and now in this 'unofficial support network' I am not alone in the support experience and the answers given. The corporate answer via Skype support is that the security breach is my responsibility and I have to bear the cost, same as experienced by others. The post by 'arcticomp' triggered me to write this. In the old forum there were many people with the same experience. I too immediately turned off my auto top up through Pay Pal, I advise others to immediately do the same. My question to the Skype user community is what should we do about this? There was no indication of any security breach at my end from firewalls and security packages that are active on my systems. Skype is expecting me to take the risk for costs that are totally out of my control - that is unacceptable to me. The future lack of control is the fundamental issue here. I am using this communication channel as the email trail with support has hit a brick wall, feels like a set of robotic automated answers. On a second thread I see 'moderators' etc - what is going on here? Who are they - Skype employees!!! It feels very odd to me. There are currently 25,813,297 Skype users online as I write this. Having read many posts on the 'Hacking' subject I am not sure how big the issue is. Is it the 20 or so people I have read posts from, are they representative, is it just a small issue that will not happen again? Are there many people out there who have the same problem, but short of the opportunity to communicate. Does anyone have the skill and knowledge to create a mechanism that we can find out from the user community the magnitude of this hacking issue? Finally, in my case the cost of 'Goodwill' would have been 0.0435%. In my experience 'The Corporation' using muscle on the individual is not a good business model. I will be interested in any feedback and looking to see Skype return to a relationship and service model that I have advertised extensively and encouraged others to join. tjbg 4th July 2011

I suggest that you immediately perform the following actions
    1. run a full anti-virus scan, to detect and remove any elements that the hacker may have used to gain access to your account.
    2. change your account password to something difficult to guess and completely different from the ones you usually use.
    3. contact customer service (support.skype.com/support_selection), provide as relevant details as possible.

  • Account blocked, cannot use remaining minutes (exp...

I cancelled a subscription before the renewal period started. Given that I did not receive an automatic refund, I started a claim with paypal. 1 minute after, my Skype account was blocked (I wish Skype were as fast providing refunds as  it's blocking accounts.) I still have 55 minutes left in the subscription that I haven't been able to use so far , and will likely expire today. I have contacted Skype support, but so far I have not received any answer. My requests are as follows:
    1. Have my account unblocked, and the subscription extended by the number of dates the account has been blocked, so that I can use the 55 minutes remaining in my subscription.
    2. Get a refund for the subscription renewal, and when this happens I'll close the claim with paypal.

cancelling a subscription and requesting for a refund are two entirely different actions.  This means that when you cancel a subscription, it will only stop the reoccurring payment, but doesn't mean that you will automatically get refunds for your current subscription.
Yet, it is indeed correct that you need to contact customer support regarding this matter, afaik they usually respond within 24 hours.

  • Account Blocked and failed Recovery Attemps.

Note: There is a warning on the right, stating i shouldnt state my account name for my own good but i think it is neccesary for the sake of resolving this issue. The account concerned is:[Redacted for privacy]
A few days ago, i used my laptop to log-in to my Skype account. I did nothing out of the ordinary during this procedure except clicking on my Skype client, only to see that a message popped up stating it was blocked. I clicked on the suggested link which led me through a procedure where i had to fill in a form.
I tried to fill in the forms as accurately as possible but in all honesty this account is very old and i do not know the specifics of it like the registration e-mail and when i made it. This most likely resulted in me filling in the forms in a wrong matter three times. Finaly after the third time i got a e-mail where it was stated the issue couldntn be forwarded and my account will not be recovered or unblocked for good. I was told to make a new account.
In the end, i am a legitimate user of Skype for years, i have done nothing wrong. However my account is still blocked, as it is now, forever.
Hopefully through this route, i can still recover my account as my e-mails i sent in response to the unblocking e-mails are not answered to no matter what.
If any member of the support team can contact me personally, i can provide you with a massive list of users i had on the other account, and a correct registration e-mail (I probably entered the wrong one in the forms), the last few users i added, the last user i had a conversation with and all the information you want.
If no-one responds to this, other users can see this as a warning. Beware if your account is blocked because Skype will perma-ban it if you mis-enter your information, regardless if it is indeed your account.

  • How do I email Skype support?

Before you link me to the official page showing me how to, I tried that and the only options that were there was to talk to a live support person or to go to skype community. There was nowhere were I could send an email.
So all I'm asking for is the E-mail itself or another way, because I don't want to chat with a live person for various reasons. Hopefully I don't get any automated responses linking me to the page.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Febirtha:
Skype does not use a single, central, or general e-mail address for its customer support functions.  All service requests are handled via a web form system, a customer support model which has been adopted by many websites.
Many Skype account, payment and billing, and technical support service requests are  administered (diagnosed and resolved) by Skype Customer Service agents via live chat instant message, another facility common to many websites.  If your enquiry matches or is similar to the parameters of the support options available as you progress through the various steps in the process, you will be directed to start an instant message chat session with an agent.
If you insist upon sending your service request to Skype via the web form, which is the same as sending an e-mail to Skype in that you will receive a reply via your account's registered e-mail address, the only way to do so would be to outwit the system - which is what Community Ambassador Techfreak is advising:
If you don't get the email support option, choose other options in the support form, even if unrelated [to the matter you seek to resolve via e-mail], to produce the option [to Send a message to Skype rather than to start an instant messat chat with an agent].
Hopefully, the text I inserted in orange clarifies Techfreak's suggestion.

    The Skype Community
    The Heartbeat blog

Make sure you join Skype first before you contact our team to help you with the issue you’re experiencing. Then it’s easy to get help:
Go to the Support request page.   (You will sign on to the Skype website at this step.)
Select the topic you need help with and the problem you’re experiencing. Some information that might help with your problem is displayed.
If you still feel that the information doesn’t help, click the Next button at the bottom of the screen.
Select your contact method. We recommend that you check our Skype Community first.  (Seeing as you started here in the Community, there would be no need to return to the Community.  Please see additional notes, below, if you find yourself redirected to the Community.)
If you chose email, enter your details, describe your problem, and then click Send. We'll get back to you as soon as we can.
We don’t currently provide telephone support.
Learn more about what to do if you haven't received a reply from Skype customer service.
If you find yourself redirected to the Community:
Skype is aware of lingering and sporadic problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.
