Account mail for user can't create after create new users account

Hi,
I have a recent installation of Server MacOS X 10.5 like advanced server. The services DNS, DHCP, OPEN DIRECTORY and MAIL are lifted and they work very well.
Now when I believe a new user account, it is not also believed the mailbox of messages in the mail server in spite of activating the electronic mail service in the user's account.
Please somebody can help me.
Thank you!

Mailboxes are created only when they either receive mail for the first time or are accessed via IMAP the first time.
HTH,
Alex

Try unmounting the volume on your iMac using Disk Utility. Then mount it again. You may need to reboot the laptop or relaunch its Finder process (using the Force Quit window) after remounting the drive on your iMac. Remember that no process may be accessing any files on the drive you plan to unmount, or the unmount will fail. Unmounting and remounting an external drive on my iMac made it become visible on my MacBook Pro after it had disappeared.

  • N8 Mail for Exchange (can not send mails)

    Hi guys,
I just got my new Nokia N8. I already setup Mail for Exchange via IMAP to sync the mails, contacts and the calendar of my private mailbox.
Everything runs alright. But I can not send mails via Mail for Exchange. If I push on "New Mail" the program say the command can not be executed and breaks down.
Does someone know how to fix that problem?
     Thanks from Liechtenstein.
    Phil

    Hi,
I also had problems with unable to send emails.
I was getting error messages in the Mail for Exchange (MfE) log files such as
Setting DISK FULL status to false
Error occurred during sending mail. Setting status to waiting for reconnect
    HTTP failure while sending messages.
I figured out a work around. The problem seemed to be with the certificate.
I ended up deleting the certificate and then only selecting "Accept this time only" which made everything work.
    I am using a Nokia 5800.
    To delete a certificate goto
Setting > Phone > Phone mgmt > Security > Certificate Management > Trusted site certificates
find the offending certificate and delete it.
The next time I tried to synchronize my emails with Mail for Exchange, I was asked to select whether to accept the certificate... press the option button.
Then select "accept this time only".
After doing that, the emails in the outbox were sent properly.
I have to figure out how to get this to work permanently, but for the moment it was a quick fix.
[I hope this helps. I tried to be as descriptive as possible and write with correct spelling so that search engines will collect it.]

Aliases remain tied forever to the account which created them. They cannot be moved to another account, converted to a full account, nor reinstated after being deleted.

I started with one itunes account for my iphone and ipad, and now have a second ipad linked to the same itunes.  Can I set up a new itunes account for one ipad without losing what has already been downloaded on it?  I want to stop my husbands downloads appearing on my ipad, and vice versa.

A much simpler solution would be to go into Settings > Store and turn off Automatic Downloads

  • HT4859 My iCloud does not allow me to change my user email account. How can I change to a new email account and restore my iCloud?

I was recently hacked so I had to change to another email account and now iCloud won't let me back up because it is still only allowing the old email acct to be the main one. How can I switch to a new email account for my iCloud?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

  • Can't Kerberize or add new users

I keep experiencing the same strange behavior: after a variable amount of time (from hours to days) Open Directory in Server Admin will show that Kerberos is not running. When I click the Kerberize button, neither the server admin account nor the domain admin account will work. I just keep getting prompted for a password in a loop.
Restarting may or may not show the Kerberos service running.
In either case, I then cannot add new users to the domain. The New User button in Workgroup Manager is disabled.
I'm really new to Mac Server (I don't even know enough to be dangerous); so, I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this issue. I'd like to transition users to portable home directories, but the solutions I've read to Kerberos problems is to demote the server and the promote. But that wipes the users, so, I don't really want to go that route.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi
If you can authenticate to the OD node – and it only needs to be once – you can select all your users (not Directory Administrator UID 100) and export them. WGM > Server Menu > Export. How many are there? This will allow you to reimport them later on into any directory node you like, local NetInfo or OD. Passwords do not carry over but this is no big deal as you can assign a password policy later on. When first populating the OD node with users and groups its a good idea to export and save them all to a memory stick or something suitable. It may not help you in this situation but its a good tip for later on.
As Leif says if Kerberos is stopping or starting and generally being flaky its usually (but not always) down to a problem with DNS somewhere.
There are other possibilities. Perhaps the Server has been joined to an Active Directory KDC? If thats so the users you may be seeing are already on the AD Server and there is nothing to lose. It could also explain why authentication is a struggle. Your post also seems to be indicating a time sync issue, (along with DNS another common problem). Inspect the edu.mit.Kerberos file located in /Library/Preferences on the clients to see which KDC is issuing tickets. It may not be the OD Master. If you find that the server is supplementing AD and not providing SSO then its should be safe to demote. Ultimately this is really the only effective solution. Demote to Standalone and sort out the DNS problems (if any) and repromote.
There is another possible solution which you could try if you feel brave enough.
When the server get promoted to OD Master slapd creates the slapd_macosxserver.conf file in /etc/openldap. This file will contain an entry for the root LDAP user – rootdn. Just as System Administrator (UID 501) admin has root sitting behind it so does Directory Administrator (UID 1000) diradmin. This root user has total control over all the data inside the LDAP database, standard access controls do not apply to this user. The important bit about rootdn is that ANY USER and PASSWORD can be used. The user and password does not even have to exist in the LDAP database itself, it only needs to exist in slapd_macosxserver.conf. The default system admin account or root can edit this file to add a new user and password (it can be MD5 or plaintext), slapd will then assume that any user which can authenticate to the newly created name and password is the root user for the LDAP database and will give full access to user records and the OD node itself. Create a new user in the local NetInfo node first, try not to use diradmin and UID1000.
    Hope this helps – Tony

  • I just purchased a one year old iMac.  How do I create a brand new admin account?

I just purchased a one year old iMac.  How do I create a brand new admin account?

The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You—not the original owner—must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
It's unsafe, and may be unlawful, to use a computer with software installed by a previous owner.
1a. If you don't own another Mac
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller—not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine is very old and has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for a MacBook Air. You should have received those media from the original owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To start up from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then restart the computer and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should start up in Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Some models shipped with OS X 10.6 and received a firmware update after 10.7 was released, enabling them to use Internet Recovery. If you have one of those models, you may not be able to reinstall 10.6 even from the original discs, and Internet Recovery may not work either without the original owner's Apple ID. In that case, contact Apple Support, or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to have the OS installed.
1b. If you do own another Mac
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to prepare a USB device, then start up the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can start from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
    2. Partition and install OS X
If you see a lock screen when trying to start up from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
Launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive—not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the  Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. If you're installing a version of OS X acquired from the App Store, you will need the Apple ID and password that you used. When the installation is done, the system will automatically restart into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the original owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed—you have to repurchase them.
    3. Other issues
If the original owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're irrevocably linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.
When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a lifetime limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an iCloud account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information. The setup limit doesn't apply to Apple ID accounts used for other services, such as the iTunes and Mac App Stores, or iMessage. You can create as many of those accounts as you like.

  • HT204053 can i set up a new icloud account and transfer files

I have gotten divorced and really need to change my email address which is linked to icloud and has all my diary/itune/ibook purchases linked to it.  I understand i CANNOT change my email so this forces me to have to create a new icloud account.  How do i do this and can i set up the new icloud account to inherit my former accounts purchases?

Go to www.icloud.com, go to the mail module, acess the settings (small gear wheel, on the right), choose Preferences>Accounts and create an alias in the lefthand panel.

  • How do I create a CLEAN new user?

I get a cl_kernels plugin error after login; cannot open new finder windows, Terminal.app does not start, Safari quits unexpectedly, the clock in the menu ba never shows, things are generally unusable. I deleted that account and created new ones. Using a different username all is fine. Creating a new username and transferring all the old data, incl. the Library folder, all is fine. BUT, creating a new user account with the old username (that was working fine since 10.0, six lower case letters only), I get the same old error.
The problem started to appear shortly after installing the box.net and GoogleDrive clients -- not sure whether that'd be related. Any ideas?

System Preferences>Users and Groups. Make a new user. (follow the arrow)

You cannot transfer your friend's applications to your account.
All apps are tied to the Apple ID they are purchased with.
You can only update using your friend's ID.
