ACE switching-mode command

Hy guys.
Can anybody explain what exactly the "switching-mode" command does?
Thanks!

Hi David,
First confirm that the gateway is set correctly on the servers. It must be the MSFC IP. Secondly, take captures to see where whether ACE is getting the response and forwarding it to MSFC or not.
If it is an ACE module then you will have to take capture the switch backplane Tengig interface of the switch. If it is an ACE appliance then take sniffer capture on the switch interfaces connected to the Appliance. Make sure that both server and client vlan traffic is captured in the same file so complete flow can be viewed.
Here is the procedure to take sniffer on tengig interface:
The ACE's tengig port is always <ace-slot>/1.
Let's say your ACE is in slot 3. It's backplane interface would then be
Te3/1. You then use the monitor command to configure the source (SPAN)
port to this interface.
monitor session 1 source interface TenGigabitEthernet 3/1 both
monitor session 1 destination interface GigabitEthernet x/y
monitor session 1 filter vlan 510 - 511 , 640 , 652 - 656        <----
Line is optional and will capture only specified VLANs
Configure the destination (SPAN) port as a trunk port so that the VLAN
IDs will be preserved:
interface Gix/y
switchport
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate
Be sure that the network analyzer connected to the destination port can
monitor VLAN tags  (a trunked port). Here is a link on how to configure
NICs using some of the Intel chipsets to pass the VLAN tagging info:
http://support.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-005897.htm
Wireshark has posted this info, as well as how to configure NICs with
the Broadcom chipset:
http://wiki.wireshark.org/CaptureSetup/VLAN#head-e0dc0f9fe0cc6b1b1866d78
da7b97ead34dca1d8
With IOS Release 12.2(18)SXD and later releases, when a destination port
is a trunk, you can  use the list of VLANs allowed on the trunk to
filter the traffic transmitted from the destination port.  This should
not be necessary if you configured the optional 'filter' line in the
monitor session configuration.
interface Gix/y
switchport
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 102, 103
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate
Thanks,
Hasham

  • NAC OOB and 6500 in Virtual Switch Mode

Is there any issue or special care to implement NAC OOB in Central Deploy, VGW, using AD SSO for wired clients where the Core Switch is a pair of 6500 in Virtual Switch Mode?
The customer uses Radius IAS for authentication. How does it fit with the AD SSO?

    Hi Bruce,
I am afraid there are some arguments missing in your db command.
To manually add the OID of  Cat4507R+E to CAM's database here is the  procedure to do this.
    [root@cca-3140-cam ~]# psql -h localhost -U postgres controlsmartdb -c "INSERT INTO supported_switch VALUES ('1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1286', '4', 'Cisco Catalyst 4507 R+E')" INSERT 0 1
psql: warning: extra command-line argument "INSERT" ignored
psql: warning: extra command-line argument "0" ignored
psql: warning: extra command-line argument "1" ignored
    INSERT 0 1
Then to make sure it is there:
    [root@cca-3140-cam ~]# psql -h localhost -U postgres controlsmartdb -c "SELECT * FROM supported_switch" | grep 1286
    The output should be:
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1286      |     4 | Cisco Catalyst 4507 R+E
Restart perfigo service on NAC Manager and try to manage the switch  using the model used by the above command.

    Tiago

  • E2000 in Switch Mode

My home network is configured with an 8 port Netgear box as the DHCP server and an E2000 for wireless access (and some wired ports as well) in switch mode.
Since the E2000 is no longer a DHCP server it loses its IP address of 192.168.1.1 and appears to be assigned as 192.168.0.8.  When I try to access the E2000 at this new address using the browser based  utility, the expected login screen appears, but there doesn't appear to be a password that works.  According to the instructions the WAP key is supposed to be the password, and this worked before when the E2000 was set up as a router.
I think I'm not understanding something here.  Comments?  If I need/want to change any settings am I required to reset the E2000 and start over every time if I am using it in switch mode?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Reset the E2000 to factory defaults. Unplug it from your modem. Wire a single computer to the E2000.
    1. Open the command prompt at http://192.168.1.1/
    2. On the main setup page, set the LAN IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.254 (or any IP address which is not used by any other device in your Netgear LAN)
    3. On the same page, disable the DHCP server.
    4. Save settings.
    5. Unplug the computer.
    6. Wire one of the numbered LAN ports of the E2000 to the Netgear.
Now you should be able to connect to the web interface of the E2000 on http://192.168.0.254/ or whatever IP address you have chose before. Again: make sure that IP address is not used otherwise. It is not set statically on any other device in your network and the DHCP server on the Netgear does not assign this IP address to any other device. The DHCP server address pool on the Netgear may need adjusting to exclude the 192.168.0.254 from the pool.

  • E72: shortcut for switching mode ?

I wanted to removed 'switch mode' short cut from the home screen, so that I can use some other useful shortcut there ?
Is there any shortcut for switching mode  ?
    Thanks

There are actually two sets of shortcuts for switching windows in Photoshop CC. One is the OS shortcut that Photoshop respects, which c.pfaffenbichler covered. The other is the older traditional Photoshop shortcut for switching windows, which on the Mac is Control-Tab or Shift-Control-Tab (that really does use the Control key on the Mac, not Command). Both ways work for me in Photoshop CC in Mavericks.
The shortcut you mentioned, Command-< , is not a default shortcut for window switching for the US keyboard. Is your keyboard set to a different language? That might be part of the issue. Or you could try resetting your preferences (start Photoshop while holding Command-Option-Shift).

  • Why is the Camera app so slow when switching modes?

When I switch modes between still-photo and video (or back) in the Camera application, there is a 2-3 second pause while the "iris" appears and disappears. Ok, that's not very long, but when you are in a rush to capture "that moment" it can be all the difference between "great" and "rats!".
I get that an app can take a few seconds to load, but switching camera modes should be nearly instantaneous, shouldnt it? Do other people see the same delay, or is it just me? Are there any known tweaks to improve this delay?
On an iPhone 4 with latest iOS.

I don't know why Apple doesn't fix this problem or even acknowledge it. I have had this problem since 1.1.2. Upgrading through 1.1.3, 1.1.4 and on the 2.1 has not helped. My SMS loading time varies between 3 and 10 seconds. I maintain all my SMS messages deleted (which I should not have to do). Due to lack of support from Apple I purchased a Nokia phone for my son. At least basic phone features work like they should.

  • SQL Mode Command to update database table

    Hi All,
I have a couple of scenarios which I need help with:
    1)
    - I have a sql query which pulls two columns lets say Equipment and a val1 from a sql database table displayed in a grid.
    - Once the user clicks on a record I have two text boxes which get the value of the selected records on the same page (equipment, val1).
    - I then have an update button, wherein they can change the value of the val1 column.
I have created a sql query of mode command with an update statement. My question is, how do I execute this update query from the webpage, I know how to assign the parameters so the get passed to the update query I just am not sure how to kick off the update query. Do I have to have it as part of an applet to even refer to it from within my webpage? If so, don't I have to assign an applet a display template? (this command query does not have an output). Please help...
    Thanks,
    Mahwish

I have done scenario 2, but its not easy.  This is how I did it.
Instead of using the iGrid applet, I used an XSLT stylesheet to create a "grid" of input boxes in HTML that allow direct editing of the value.  At the end of each row you had an "update" button that passed the value of the updated box, and the corresponding information you need for icommand update.  You can either display the information you need for the update query in the "grid"  or you can use hidden form objects to store the information.   Indexing is pretty easy, you just name the form elements by positions  (eg. frmTxtR1C1)  for example.
The solution is not for the faint of heart, takes some development time and a fair amount of XSLT knowledge, but if you need this functionality repeatedly in your application, it works great.  It looks really slick too because you can do things like change the color of your form after you have updated it so the user knows there has been a change.    Of course there are always multiple ways to attack a problem I love hearing other suggestions.

  • Muvo TX FM: is the 256mb slightly faster than the 512mb when switching modes?(and starting u

I was just wondering if the muvo tx fm 52 is slightly slower than the muvo tx fm 256 when switching modes ?
because i have the 52 and my dad has the 256 and i noticed there's a difference
both of them have the lastest firmware on them .5.0
both of them are reasonably full / capcaity close to full
when i switch from radio mode to music in folders mode : the transition between the two modes are smooth and immediate on the 256
but when i do this on my 52 : i seem to have to an extra second of waiting time before it goes back into music mode
yeah i know it's a bit nitpicky to bring such a thing up , but i thought it was strange that there would be a difference , since they're both the same model and firmware ( only a difference in capacity between the 2 )
this occurance didn't start to happen until i upgraded it recently to .5.0 ( when this occurance starting appearing )
or maybe it's just my 52 that does this ?
anyway another thing that's strange that i've tested :
if i do switch back to an older firmware version for my 52mb : this extra delay between switching modes is non-existant / goes away
( it was non-existant before i upgraded to the new firmware )
also another thing i've noticed is the 256 seems to be faster at starting up after turning on too
when i first turn it on , only takes till the /4 of the sand in the egg timer icon and drained to the bottom before it starts playing music
with the 52 , it doesn't start playing music until all the sand in egg timer icon has drained to the bottom ( a second longer wait before the music starts playing )
also another thing to note is that
the firmware that came with the 256 , was .5.0 ( bought in april )
i bought the 256 a couple of months ago
with my 52 , which i had since december : i've used firmware old firmware that came with that ( i think .0.04 ) ( until switching to the newest firmware recently )
i was just wondering what's calling this extra seconds worth of delay in my 52 , that's not present in the 256 ?Message Edited by low-quality on 07-04-2005 0:43 PMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 04:08 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:37 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:38 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:38 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:38 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:39 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:39 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:39 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:40 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:40 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:42 AM

Sounds like it could be because of the capacity difference, maybe a mod could confirm this.

  • X-fi, Will not switch modes unless reb

This happens to me occasionally. I will close ALL applications and then try to switch modes and its says I have an audio application open or the device is in use. Anyone experienced this and know a solution?

    kaluminati,
Some application of yours may not have ended properly and thus could still be running in the background process and holding on to the sound device. You can access Windows Task Manager and check the processes that are still running and end it.

  • Unable to switch modes

Hi, need some help with a problem. I'm not sure if Norton has anything to do with it but my pc was idle for awhile and Norton conducted a antivirus sweep. I didn't notice and click on the creative consolue launcher to switch to entertainment mode but nothing happened as?the Norton program popped up and wanted action taken against a minor bug which I alllowed. After that, I tried to switch to entertainment mode but it remmained in game mode.
I've recently updated the XiFi Titanium Pro drivers but didn't do that for the console launcher. So, after this problem occurred, I thought I'd better do that. But the same problem presists. What should I do? Any advice appreciated. Thanks. I'm using Win XP, Intel core 2.

Re: Unable to switch modesP If you would like to upgrade your console launcher, you can find it here:
    http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=064
    or [url="http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=064" title="console launcher" rel="nofollow">here:[/url]
After download just double click the file and you will see that it will remove your old version and then install itself.
The only other reason it would not switch modes in my opinion is that you were using a card that did not qualify for the full featured versions for console launcher, like the extreme music or extreme audio models.

  • DHCP Switch mode

I have a Windows 2012 Essentials server in my house and then a separate VM running a secondary Windows 2012 server. Don't say what I do is overkill please, it's in a lot of ways for learning more than anything. Essentials is my primary and VM instance is
secondary domain controllers. I have both running as DHCP servers in hot standby mode. I had an outage yesterday of the primary and for some reason the secondary didn't take over very fast. Took over an hour for a computer to get an IP. May have even been
more specific to my WiFi devices but not sure why that matters once they connect to a wifi hotspot in the house. Anyway, was thinking of switching to load balanced as thinking there wont be any delay in serving up IP's if one goes down as they are both active
all the time. How would I go about switching modes? Is there a walkthrough anywhere? Specific to my situation.
    Thanks.

    Dhcp Failover cluster configuration settings you can do;
Maximum client lead time:Partner Down state of time to wait for the server to come back.During this time the server is down does not rise up over the server task that is still standing.
State Switchover Interval: In case there is no one down from DHCP server, realizing that the standing down of the dating site with a DHCP server down time to enter the state stage.
    For example;
DHCP Server1 was shut down,15 min(time mentioned in this field) during the DHCP server2 will understand that 1 is the server does not receive a notice from the server down no 1,so be immediately activated to deploy IP?NO! to enter the "maximum client
lead time" will wait until the time in the field. Why?DHCP server1 back to the uprising is hope, when the maximum client lead time mentioned until now is still time to start making all transactions regarding the scope news from the server can not be number

  • MACSEC between 3850 and 4500-X (manual switch-switch mode)

    Hi all
As per post title, a couple of questions:
    1) Will MACSec encryption work between the above switches (using 1Gig port on the 3850 and a 1Gig SFP on the 4500-X)?
    2) If so, what versions of software are required, and what is the minimum feature set (IP Base?)
    3) Any special modules required like 3750X?
    4) Will Etherchannel work with the above?
    5) Bonus question: will the above run over 2 EoMPLS carrier provided services?

Plug your speakers into the soundcard as usual.
use the front mounted headphone socket on the fromt of the X-Fi I/O unit to connect your headset and set the control panel to automatically mute your speakers when the headset is connected. Your speakers will mute when the headset is plugged in and all you have to do is plug or unplug the headset at the front to switch modes!...Now please do not ask about doing the same with your mike connector!! see other thread by me!! p.s creative do ship a /4" to 3.5mmm adapter with the card.

  • "Switch" mode on WS-CE-500-24TT

    Hello.
    I have WS-CE-500-24TT.
On Fa1 port connect PC1 with ip 192.168.1.169. This port in "Desktop" mode and belongs to VLAN1.
On Fa2 port connect uncontrollable switch Dlink and PC2 with 192.168.1.253 connects on this switch. Fa2 belongs to VLAN1.
So, when Fa2 sets in "Server" mode, PC1 pings PC2 and when Fa2 sets in "Switch" mode, PC1 not ping PC2. What's wrong?
    TIA

    Hello Evgeny,
it may be that the D-link does not send out STP BPDU frames so it does not match with a port set to switch mode.
This could be the difference, both router and access point are not expected to send out STP BPDUs and so their roles could fit in your scenario.
    Hope to help

  • Global Switching Mode

I have two Sup 720 (WS-SUP720-BASE ) installed on out 6500 switch and I just found that my global switching mode is "Flow through", does that mean that all modules are running on bus mode?.. does that mean that my Sup 720 does not have switching fabric built-in? if this is true, I thought all sup 720 have switching fabrics. Please help.
    Regards

As previous poster says it depends what cards you have installed , unless the cards installed are fabric enabled it will automatically switch the switching mode to accomodate the non fabric cards.

  • Understanding Cut-Through Switching Mode

    Hello
i am learning about differents operation modes of Cisco Switch and i have a question about the Cut-Through Switching Mode:
Cut-Through mode tell the switch to forward a frame after opening only the first 14 bits. how this method can support Vlan Taging? the switch need to know if he can send into the trunk port he want to forward and need to check if the vlan he need to reach is allowed on the same port. the switch can see this only after seeing almost all the frame header.
    thank you for your help

I mean, as part of the cut-through processing, the VLAN tag needs to be analyzed.  If the ingress port is configured to support VLAN tags, then the cut-through needs to wait to see that portion of the frame.  Likewise, if the egress port is VLAN tagged, the frame will need to held until the frame's VLAN tag can be constructed.
So, yes, cut-through could work with VLAN tags, it will just add a bit of latency.  It's up to the device vendor to determine how, and under what conditions, cut-though will work.
Some cut-through swtiches support "fragment-fee", which means that look at more of the header.  Some (at least years ago), would use fragment-free dynamically (based on loading).  So, again, it's really up to the device vendor.  (BTW, "basic" cut-though assumes the whole frame will be received, but that's not always a valid assumption.)
