Acquiring a measure every x seconds from a Keithley 2000 multimeter

Hi everybody,
I'm working on a program on labview which should acquire a measure every x seconds from a Keithley2000 multimeter.
I managed to acquire a single reading using the "Single Read VI" from Keithley 2000 Instrument Drivers.
To acquire a reading every x seconds, i have tried 2 possibilities without havinng the desired result:
- First i have tried the "Multi Read VI" (also from Keithley Instrument Drivers), but the problem with this VI is that i could controle the desired number of readings without being able to controle their frequecy ( i can't choose the elapsed time between 2 successive readings)
- The second possibiltie I've tried is to use the "Single Read VI" inside a "Timed loop" for which i could choose the desired number and frequency of iterations, but the problem with this methode is that
at the end of the program i still get only a single reading!
Can sombody please help me with that?
THANK YOU in advance.

Hello,
As dennis said, I think you made a mistake in your code.
Could you post your code for us to see what you're doing wrong?

    Hello Anelda.
It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.

  • Weird measurements every 12 seconds

Does anybody know if something happens behind the scenes every 12 second in Windows XP (SP3)?
I am getting some weird data approximately every 12 seconds with normal data in between.
This seems to have happened since I changed PCs, but to supposedly the identical spec.
    Any ideas?

Weird thing is this does not happen earlier in a different part of the test sequence, almost as if it is the actual hardware under test that is misbehaving...
As Ben would say "Sea-Story Time"--
I had the exact same thing happen to me a few years ago.  While developing a test with hardware in the loop I noticed that every 12 seconds my measurements went way out of the expected range.  We spent days looking into the cause since the electronics  happened to be the inner guts of an implantable medical device,  and,  well --- that would be kinda upsetting to have it go wonky every 12 seconds.  As I recall, I had tried to demo the issue to a senior engineer and could not repeat the issue untill I turned on the temperature chamber that held the DUT at 37C.  Turned out the the exposed silicon IC was sensitive to the IR light element we used to keep everything at body temperature and the chamber needed to heat for about 1/2 a sec every 12 secs to maintain 37C.
Don't rule out unexpected system interactions just yet.
What is different between the stim package earlier in the sequence and the stim package in the offending step?

  • Noise every 13 seconds from the bottom-right speaker

    Dear Apple Community Members,
I recently bought an iMac (27-inch, Late 2012)  two weeks ago and I noticed last week a small noise coming from the bottom-right of the screen (every 13 seconds). As far as I know, that's also where one of the speakers is located. I tried to turn the speakers off, but that doesn't stop it. If you don't know it, you won't hear it. But once you heard it, it is getting really disturbing in a quiet environment because you will always pay attention to it.
Any idea what it could be and if I should send it back? If needed I can try to record the noises.
    Looking forward to reading you.

  • How can analog signals are measured every several counters from Quadrature Encoder using USB-6221

how can I sample analog signals every counters from quadrature encoder using usb-6621?

There is a well documented example of what you are trying to do at :
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/explprog.nsf/webmain/DD85F07A7CA99F8F862568690062DE54?opendocument
Don't be afraid because of the BNC-2120. It is just used in this example to simulate the pulses from a device. So it is not needed in your case. Obviously, you will need to change the number of increments/rev according to your encoder to get correct RPM values.

  • Reading DC volts from Keithley 2000 Multimeter with LabView

    Hello,
I am new to LabView. I am trying to read and write DC Volts data from a KE2000 Multimeter using KUSB-488A interface. I need guidance on how to proceed. I need to simply read the voltage drop across a 1 megaohm resistor and write them in a file to plot later. Please help me with sequential steps since I do not know LabView much. I am using Labview 9.0
Thanks a lot for your help.

There are LabVIEW drivers for the Keithley meters available on the NI Instrument Driver Network.  They include examples that should do what you need with very little effort.

  • How to take voltage measurements every minute

    Hi all,
    I am currently new to labview and i am trying to take timed voltage measurements.  Here is what i am trying to do;
I am using labview 2010 and I am trying to take temperature and humidity readings in sync with each other.  To measure the temperature i am using a cDaq and mudule 9213, for humiduty i am using the voltage from module 9234 and converting it using the ambient temperature and voltage from my humidity sensor.
Now what i want to do is take voltage and temperature measurements say every minute or 30 seconds, but my buffer fills from the voltage readings and gives me an error or the table takes values from what im assuming is the buffer, one by one, instead of grabbing the current data from the module.
My real question here is how do i take current voltage measurements every 30 seconds?
    Thank you for any advice.
    Solved!

Did you stop your VI when changing voltages?  It would make since if you did since the chart will retain its memory while the table's Express VI is reset with each run.

  • Footage skipping every 7 seconds on timeline

    I'm new to cs4...
when ever i put any footage onto the timeline, the footage skips every 7 seconds... if i stop playback and start it again on a different point of the clip, 7 seconds from whenever I hit play seems to skip.  I've tried different footage from projects done with older version of premere that I know had no issue before and it still seems to skip every 7 seconds from when ever I hit play.
it is not a rendering issue as there is no red line... once I export to mpeg the clips dont skip.  it is just very annoying to edit with this skipping every 7 seconds.

  • I get 3 messages in console every 10 seconds

A few days ago, i noticed a process running in my task manager. Something along the lines of, "Seagate data manager". The reason it was there is because my friend installed some software that would let us use his Seagate hard drive (it would not work on a mac without it). I was annoyed that this process was running on start-up years later when i did not need it any more. I searched though my Mac and found no apparent way to uninstall it, so i decided to find every file that had the word "seagate" and delete it. Probably not my brightest moment, i know, and technically it worked. I dont see the process running any more, but now i am seeing the fruits of my stupidity as i get these 3 messages in console every 10 seconds from what i think is my Mac trying to launch the process, but cant find the files that i deleted. I deleted 2 files. I cant remember exactly what they were called or where they were from. I think one was from "Macintosh HD > Library" and the other was from "Macintosh HD > System". I know that one of the files had the icon that looks like a little white Lego piece (see attachment called "icon").
Is there anything i can do?
    here is what console says:

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” (without the quotes) and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Copy or drag — do not type — the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you synchronize with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Keithley 2000 voltage measurement

    Hi,
I want to write a code to display the voltage measured from a keithley 2000 meter using RS232 serial port  and display it on a   graph using Labview 8.5 on Windows Vista based Laptop
. I guess the first step is to download the driver for keithley2000 http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=248. I want to go step by step. Please give me the main key steps on how to proceed on this problem and i will then work in detail based on your directions.
How do i know that laptop  is recognizing the meter and RS232 connection is sound? What are the next key steps i need to work on? Please give the directions.
    Thanks

For fast reading, it is important not to use the MEAS? command, but READ followed by FETCH? (if I remember correctly). Normally these DMMs operate at 1 PLC (power line cycle -> 50/60 Hz), so you need to adjust the NPLC (number of power line cycles).
There is to options to work with the Keithley DMMs inside LabVIEW. You could use the LabVIEW drivers for the Keithley 2000, those can be found on ni.com and on the keithey homepage. Propably they only implement GPIB, the you need to make some modifications on them for RS232. The other option is to send the commands as found in the DMM manual via VISA.

  • How do I write snap shot of my data to measurement file every 5 seconds

    Hi There
I'm trying take a snapshot of my data stream once every 5 seconds and write it to a .LVM file. I'm having trouble with the "Write to Measurement File" VI. The rate at which it writes data to the file appears to be dictated by the "Samples to Read" parameter in the DAQ assistant. I've tried placing the "Write to Measurement File" VI inside a case structure and initiating the case structure with an "Elapsed Time" VI. This only results in a 5 second delay before the "Write to Measurement File" VI initiates. Once the "Write to Measurement File" VI is initiated it begins writing at 20 x per second. Is there a way to change this or dictate the rate at which the "Write to Measurement File" VI exicutes?
My reason for slowing down the write rate are, 1) Reduce disk space taken up by my data file. 2) Reduce CPU usage and hard disk access cycles.
The reason I can't increase the "Samples to Read" value in the DAQ assitant (to match my data writing requirement) is that my VI will begin to miss events and triggers.
I'm sure I can't be the only person who needs high frequency data acquisition and low frequency writing of the processed data to disk? I can't however see a straight forward way of achiving this.
The hardware I am using is a NI USB 6008 DAQ, acquiring analogue voltage data at 100hz.
Thanks in advance for your help
    Cheers

The case structure and the elapsed time function should work. Did you configure it to reset when the time target is reached? You should get a single true and then the output will be false until the time has elapsed again. The write to file would not be running 20 times a second. Post your code if you still have problems.

If I close it or force close, it opens again in 5 seconds.  I can't get rid of it.  I have tried to clear out the iMessage settings I had put in, and I've tried to adjust the Accounts to not include notes to synch.  But, Notes will not stop.  It opens a new note, and even if you ignore it, it assumes preference every 5 seconds, and the Mac is impossible to use.

Do you have any Boot Camp or other secondary partitions set up on your system? If so then try running a disk verification routine (chkdsk, etc.) in Windows to repair the disk. While I've not heard of it happening recently, in the past errors in these partitions have resulted in stubborn ghost files appearing in OS X.

These may be different issues, but lets look at rentals first.
Poor motion can result from mismatched output. If your source is 24 or 30 fps you should set the output of the Apple TV to 60 Hz, for 25 fps content use 50 Hz.
Additionally motion software on the TV itself can cause the picture to jump, check your TV settings and turn off any motion settings in use,
