Acrobat 9 automatically converts .TIFF files to .PDF - how do I disable?

Why is Acrobat 9 opening .TIFF files as a .PDF? I would like it to remain a .TIFF instead of autmoatcailly converting to a .PDF. This happens when I click on .TIFF images on the web, or save them as a .TIFF locally. I've not found an option under preferences that would toggle this. The dozen or so other workstations here do not behave this way (we have to go through a print-to-PDF converting process if we want to convert). Thanks!

Thanks for the fast reply! I checked and confirmed there are no TIFF viewer programs installed aside from Acrobat (and the defaul Microsoft Picture Viewer and Microsoft Document Viewer). Acrobat 9 is the default TIFF and TIF viewer too. Not much is installed on this machine. Here is a screen capture of the programs.

  • CreatePDF keeps erroring when I try to convert TIFF files to PDF

I have tried multiple times to convert a TIFF file into a PDF using the Adobe Reader desktop application as well as the Adobe CreatePDF Desktop Printer.  It keeps erroring out in both applications.  What did I pay for?  And why won't it work?  Please help.

    Hi,
    I apologize for the trouble.
Please tryin web UI at https://createpdf.acrobat.com/signin.html with your Adobe ID and password.
Then select "Convert to PDF" tool from right pane.
Please let me know it this does not work.

  • When I converted a file from PDF to WORD.DOC it opened as Read Only and I'm unable to alter any of the text.  How can I solve this problem?

When I tried to convert a file from PDF to WORD.DOC it opened as Read Only and I'm unable to alter any of the text.  How do I solve this problem?  I don't know how to change it from Read Only.

    Dear Sara
Thank you very much for sending the converted file.  Yes, I am able to edit it - that will be very useful to me and I appreciate your help.
Referring to your previous message when you said you'd converted via Acrobat and not Acrobat.com, I'm converting via Acrobat.com because that's the only option that is shown (how do I convert via Acrobat? - perhaps that would be more successful).  I'm using the Export PDF website, and the OCR is enabled to "Recognize text in English UK".  However, I've just tried converting a different LPA pdf form, this time for Health & Welfare https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/245571/LPA114_He alth_welfare_LPA.pdf and again I have the same problem as before.  I've altered it from "Read only" and thought I'd then be able to enter text, but "Drawing Tools" is shown in the pane and I'm unable to enter anything onto the form - everything appears to be in images.  Also, the lettering on the heading of' page 1 has become jumbled, with the word "Public" overlaying the word "Guardian."  Any suggestions as to what it is I'm doing wrong would be welcome - I don't like to be beaten!
    Regards,
    Judith.

You would either need the PDF Pack service, or Adobe Acrobat or Photoshop.

  • Converting a .tiff file to PDF

I can not seem to convert a .tiff file to PDF, it keeps giving me a error. What can I do? I have Windows 7

Oh dear!  Unfortunately, it sounds like the problem is specific to the file in question, which means that we wouldn't be able to reproduce the error you've been seeing with another file. Why don't you try creating a comparable .tif file and see if you can upload it? I would be very surprised if you received the same error message, so the goal here would just be to isolate the problem as existing only in the other file. If it's not too much trouble, give it a shot.
All that being said, if we can't test the file ourselves, it'll be tough to find a workaround for you. Sometimes certain files contain a piece that our servers have trouble with, so we like to be able to examine the files that prove difficult, and often wrestle them into compliance. I'm sorry not to be able to offer more specific instructions, Sharmaine! Let me know how your experimenting goes.
    Best,
    Rebecca

  • By error I converted all my files to PDF; how can I change back to my regular files??HELP

I converted my computer files to PDF how can I reverse the changes??? even my internet explorer. Home version:  HELP The Adobe file I used was a adobe reader 11

You mention Adobe Reader. Reader cannot convert a file to PDF. Reader lets you view PDF.
When the Acrobat (Standard or Pro) application is used to create PDF from source files the source files are not deleted.
Hopefully whatever you used to get a PDF from your source files behaves like Acrobat (does not delete the source file).
If so, the source files are still present.
    Be well...

  • Not able to convert word file to PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard

    Hi,
I am not able to convert word file to PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard. When I try to convert, it starts the process and in between I am getting this prompt, as shown in figure below and the conversion process stops. The PDF is not created.
Note: The filename 'Acr85.doc' in the above prompt keeps changing and is random.
I tried clicking Yes, No and Cancel on the above prompt, but the conversion process just stops and PDF is not getting generated.
I am able to create PDFs from web pages. No issues with that. Not working only with Word.
Can someone help me with this.
    Thanks,

In MSWord please changes the settings as "Adobe PDF" menu => "Change Conversion Settings" goto Tab Bookmark and clicks the option Convert Word Bookmarks. Now you convert the Doc to PDF you can achieve the Bookmark.
    Hope this help you

  • Acrobat XI Pro successfully installed, but it failed in converting word files into PDF, why?

I just installed Adobe XI Pro through the download assistant, it looks the installation went well, but when I tried to convert word files into PDF (tried many times), it failed. Anyone has the same problems, any solutions?

Please reply with more information - what your operating system is, do you have Office installed, and what exactly is happening. Is there an error message, does the application crash, and from where are you starting the conversion (using Word and PDFMaker, using Acrobat's Create button, or batch processing).

  • How do I convert a file to PDF without subscribing?

I just downloaded Adobe Reader X, I'm running Windows 7, When I try to convert a file to PDF I'm required to subscribe? I thought this was free? Any ideas?

Adobe Reader is free - and it reads PDF files; it doesn't create them.
Adobe CreatePDF and ExportPDF are online subscription services for people who don't want to buy Acrobat. There are links from inside Adobe Reader so users can find those services more easily, but functionally they're unconnected to Reader.

    Hi,
Acrobat 7 is not tested with Office 365. However your PDF Printer is working fine then you can print your office files to it.

  • How to batch convert Word files to pdf

How do I batch convert Word files to pdf using Automator

Here is a drag/drop AppleScript solution that uses the command-line LibreOffice capability to convert MS Word (.doc, .docx) files into PDF. Drag/Drop a single file, or a folder of Word documents, and it will write the respective PDF back to the original file location. When it is done, an OS X Notification will slide out onto the Desktop and provide the count of processed files.
Save this AppleScript as a Desktop application that remains open after running. If you ignore the latter, the notification will not show when it is done. Tested on Mavericks 10.9.5.
    property name_extension : {"doc", "docx"}
    global fileCnt
    on open of finderObjects
        set fileCnt to 0
        repeat with i in (finderObjects)
if folder of (info for i) is true then
tell application "Finder" to set temp to (entire contents of i)
            repeat with j in (temp)

        else
              process_files(i)
        end if
        end repeat
display notification "Processed Files: " & fileCnt with title "Word2PDF" subtitle "Processing Complete"
    end open
    on process_files(fname)

  • Convert txt file to pdf using Acrobat Distiller

    Hi,
We purchase years ago Distiller 8.1.0.
Now, I try to convert txt file to pdf files, but I always get an error.
    Please Help,
    Hezi

I have important information: Acrobat is not licensed for use server side, so you must not use it to build that solution, even if it is technically possible.
Adobe's server side PDF creation product is LiveCycle PDF Generator https://www.adobe.com/sea/products/server/pdfgenerator/
This comes in three editions. The "PostScript" edition is little more than a server-side version of Distiller, and will not convert TXT. However, the other two editions can convert a wide variety of formats.
