Acrobat distiller 8.0 post script

Hello -
we currently updated our adobe7 to adobe 8 professional, and we have a distiller that we put in a "watch folder" where it would PDF"s all our tables ... after the updated to 8.0 the post script no longer works... can someone explain to me what we need to change or do to get this to work again...
attached the scrip below... I appreciate any input

Helge,
I have Acrobat-Distiller 9 Pro on Mac Leopard.
1) If I use Distiller directly, it will show "pstack flush" messages as well as error messages
in its own window.
2) If I use Distiller via Acrobat and there are no problems, I can't see "pstack flush" messages at all.
3) If I use Distiller via Acrobat and there is a problem, I get error messages AND
"pstack flush" messages in a TextEdit window.
Its header tells me about a log file but I can't find the logfile.
Perhaps I am too new to Acrobat 9, and need some experimenting with its setup.

Does Acrobat X Standard have Post Script and Press Quality option, please? Can anybody help please?

The current version is Acrobat XI (not for XP or Vista). Adobe no longer sell Acrobat 9 or 10. So you would be buying in the "aftermarket". Which is fine, except that there are many fraudsters in there, doing things from selling versions that were upgraded (making you in violation of the license) to selling outright fakes, which often don't work at all, or stop when Adobe later blocks fraudulent serial numbers, or in the worst case also sneak malware onto the computer. So take great care selecting a seller. Beware of "too good to be true" prices, but the fraudsters are now wise to this too and may sell at a high price to seem legitimate.

  • How to Print Post Script Files

    Hi All,
I am trying to make a utility software in foxpro that could print post script file on:-
    1) Post script printer
    2) Non Post Script printer
Operating System Windows 95 & above
Help is requested from all the community members
    Reagards

PostScript printer - send it to the printer port e.g. LPT1: with a simple copy.
Non-PostScript printer - you'll need to buy a PostScript RIP, or perhaps use Acrobat Distiller to convert the PostScript to PDF, then print the PDF with Acrobat's API - see the Acrobat SDK. (This is not possible with the free Reader).

  • Converting Back to Original PDF Using Post Script File

Is there any way to convert back to an original PDF using a post srcipt file that was created from that original PDF?  Allow me to fully explain my situation:
I converted multiple pdf's that I created into a post script file.  I then utilized Adobe Distiller to convert them into a pdf that could be used for better printing and better usability by the end user.  Unfortunately, when Distiller did this conversion, it replaced my original pdf with the new one.  By the time I realized what was happening, all files had been replaced.
I still have the post script file that was created from the original PDF file; is there any way possible using this post script file that it can be somehow converted back to the original PDF file?  There are some edits that I need to do on the original PDF.  The pdf that Distiller creates doesn't allow for anymore edits.  My goal is to be able to make my edits without having to re-create 37 pages of documents.
The software versions I'm using are as follows: Adobe Acrobat X Version 10.1.4, Adobe Distiller Version 10.1.438.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

    Hello, thank you for responding.
Yes the url links start with http:
For example when I type in
    http://canberracontemporaryartspace.wordpress.com/2013/07/06/staying-out-of-trouble/
in the word document and click on it, the link works; but when I save it as a pdf it says "not found"
And then when I type in
    http://www.camberwellspecialists.com.au/what-is-skin-cancer.html
in the word document and click on it, the link works; but when I save it as a pdf it says "page not found"

  • Post script indesign

    hello forumers.
today i printed out a document, and when i had gone to the print house, the printer told me my pdf file was huge,so he recomended next time that i should save my document as a post script, and then use adobe distiller which shrinks the file size
so the machines print faster.is this correct?and if so how can i set up this post script?
    thank you.

At Adobe, we most strongly and respectfully disagree with the advice given to you by your printer. Creation of PDF via direct export of PDF is strongly preferred over creation of PDF via distillation of PostScript. There are some circumstances in which in fact you may end up with a smaller PDF file via distillation of PostScript, but it is also true that such PDF files are generally of inferior quality, lacking support for live transparency, color management, and the ability to easily search and/or do file touchup of PDF in Acrobat.

  • Acrobat Distiller Server 8.0 API problem

Hi im currently using distiller server 8.0 version 3016.102.
I would like to convert Post Script file using API from  ACRODISTXLib. File are not converting because of directory restrictions.
I know that i can omit using "/f" argument running application but what about API usage? Is there a way to bypass directory restrictions

So far as I have ever heard, Distiller Server is technically identical
to the regular Distiller in Acrobat Professional, but with a licence
to run a single copy serving multiple users.
This means it has the same API and limitations, if true.

  • Indesign Post Script name changing to back up file name

    Hi all
I am in a pre press workflow that requires that I write a post-script file to a hot folder.
So saving as a post-script is the only option for our entire workflow to take place.
When saving the post script file from indesign , the name defaults to the back up file name which is
not similar to the original file name. We deal with an extremely large number of pages
and need for this file name to stay the same as the original not the back up. Manually putting these file names
in is a serious chance for error and takes too much time.
Does anyone know how to prevent the name from changing?
    Thanks for any help.

You should be posting to the InDesign or Acrobat forum. Please repost there giving them your version of InDesign and Acrobat. Detail you method of creating the postscript file. You should be printing to file using the Adobe PDF printer instance. I only suggest the InDesign forum, since the print dialog box in InDesign is not a standard Windows Print dialog box.

  • Unable to create post script file in framemaker.

I installed TCS 4.0 licensed suite. Due to some reason I need to delete Adobe PDF from Devices and Printers. Since then I am unable to create post script file using framemaker. I have tried uninstalling and installing TCS 4.0 again, but all in vain. What should I do now?

If you delete critical parts of Acrobat there will be problems. Try doing a REPAIR of Acrobat Pro (from the Programs Control Panel), maybe it can undo the damage.

  • Xref table is missing when a pdf file is created with acrobat distiller 9.0.0

    Hi
I created a pdf file with the new acrobat distiller 9.0.0 and i noticed that the xref table is missing in it.
Whereas the pdf files which created in older version (acrobat distiller 7.0.5) had the xref tables.
As i have written a perl script to open the pdf files (used a ready made module downloaded form cpan.org). The script works fine with all old pdf files but fails when it tries to open the pdf files created with distiller 9.0.0.
Could i know is any thing changed on acrobat distiller 9.0.0 ?
    Thanks
    Balaji.

  • Acrobat distiller 11 crashes immediately after launch

    Acrobat is working fine.
I am on Windows 8.1. Photoshop CC (x32,x64) &  Premiere Pro  installed.
searched the forums but got no definite answer.

Run Process Monitor to capture a log file (make sure to set it up to monitor "acrodist.exe") and then launch Distiller.
Post the results here in the forum.
    An aside set of questions:
Where are your temp folders located?
What are the permissions on your temp folders?
    Are you redirecting folders?
    Are you using Roaming Profiles?
One last thing, make sure you have accepted the EULA in Acrobat.

  • Acrobat Distiller Error 5 message when scanning?

Acrobat Distiller unable to create temp folder error 5 message when scanning. I can print no problem cannot scan with error?

    Hi,
Similar issues have been resolved in earlier posts - Re: Error 5 from Acrobat Distiller - Cannot print to PDF
Assuming by Error 5 that it is related to Access Denied problem:
    1. Clean up the contents of your %temp% folder.
    2. Give full permissions to the %temp% folder
Try working with Acrobat after this.

    Hi ratish,
Is Acrobat X working fine at your end? This problem could be related to "EULA" acceptance. You may have to manually accept that to make it work.
Another suggested would be to update Acrobat installation to the latest version?
