Acrobat Reader 9.2  Bug! Maybe!?

Hey all!First of all I am new to the forum and i'd like to take the chance to say Hello to averyone in this usefull forum! HELLO!
I have just installed Acrobat reader 9.2 downloading from the website adobe.com. All went great and it worked fine. Than suddenly (did not even turn my pc off) anything I double click-on does not open and an acrobat reader window pops up telling me that acrobat cannot open that window. Hmm I go to control panel but guess what!? I cannot open that either as the same window pops up telling me the same thing!
By chance I noticed that if I right click the program i need to open and click open, it actually does! So i used that procedure to open Ccleaner and unistall acrobat reader 9.2 and all came back to normal!
Funny thing is that its the third time i do this! Am I doing something wrong? Everytime i re-install acrobat the same thing happens over and over again!
Any Hint???
Thank you very much for any help might come this way!   ;D

I dont know how to move it. I'll mark it as answered and post a new one!
Sorry for the mistake!

First it will help to know whether you are using Acrobat or Reader. There is no Acrobat Reader.
Just making sure you didn't download a trial version of Acrobat instead of Reader.

  • Bug in Acrobat Reader 8 & 9? "Actual size" not actual size

When I choose to view a PDF in "actual size" using Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 or 9, it is NOT actual size.  Under Acrobat Reader 7, it WAS actual size.
For example, if I go to the properties of the document and find out that it is supposed to be an 8.5 x 11 document, the document on screen is not 8.5 x 11.
This used to work under Acrobat 7, but doesn't work under Acrobat 8 or 9.  It used to be that you could hold an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper up to your monitor and the size of the image on screen was exactly 8.5 x 11, but now if I do the same thing, the size on the monitor does not match the actual size of the paper.
Is this a bug or something else?

The screen size is 17" and the current resolution is 1024 x 1280 (it is in "portrait" mode), but it happens at every resolution I've tested.

  • Bug in Acrobat Reader Plugin for FF?

    Hi,
i use a web application which pulls pdf reports from a server by http-post requests, so parameters are transmitted in the requests-body.
As a viewer i do use Acrobat Reader Plugin, most recent release with FF 3.0.3 on Windows XP pro.
So due of the http-post requests the requested url remains always the same for every report.
    The problem:
In case of two reports having the same content-length, the former requested report is displayed as the result of the last request, though the content is different.
    The effect could be reproduced.
Obviously the plugin cant distinguish the reports. With Acrobat Reader as the Viewer and with IE and Adobe AddOn all reports are displayed correct.
Beside the http-post implmentation may not be the best way to do this, is this a bug or mishandling by the user.
    Regards
    Chris

  • Acrobat Reader DC - Bug with Dialog Boxes Containing Images?

    Hi all -
Been testing Reader DC.  Only took a couple of minutes to adjust to the new interface; pretty slick and intuitive.
Noticed a potential issue that I wanted to warn/share/prob solve with the community.
I was putting Reader DC through it's paces with a XFA PDF that has some dialog boxes, some of which even had images in them.  (Thanks again to BR001.)
The dialog boxes with images look great on Acrobat & Reader 9/10/11 (WIN & MAC) - images are clear; no pixelation.
Reader DC on MAC appears to be fine - resolution looks the same.
But Reader DC on WIN - the images are now pixelated. Especially around the edges, characters/numbers, etc.  You can tell something is "off" with the image.
A few simple side-by-side tests can be seen at links below.  Reader DC is on left; Acrobat 9 (9.5.5) is on right.
    Green smiley face: Dropbox - icon differences.PNG (83 x 83)
    Lightroom image: Dropbox - Lightroom Image - Comparison Test.PNG (225 x 132)
Reader DC banner image: Dropbox - Reader DC Banner--- Comparison test.PNG  *MOST VISIBLE ON THIS EXAMPLE (ironically) (422 x 45)
Simple banner with words image: Dropbox - Simple Banner - comparison test.PNG (342 x 100)
PDF containing the 4 buttons that triggered these dialog boxes: Dropbox - Dialog Boxes with Images - PDF - LC community.pdf
Bug in Reader DC for Windows? Not sure what else the cause could be...
Anyone having their dialog boxes with images open in Reader DC for Windows WITHOUT the pixelation?
    FYI/thoughts/ideas/suggestions/confirmations?  Hmmm.....

  • Plötzlich diverse Bugs (Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat Reader) unter OS X 10.7.2

    Hallo liebe Community.
    Acrobat Reader:
PDF Datein laden extrem lange.

  • Acrobat  Reader 9 Bug?

I designed a form in Acrobat Professional 8. When I look at the form in Acrobat Reader version 9 and attempted to submit the form, the software opens my email client and creates a new email message, but doesn't fill the "To:" in the email. When I used a different computer with Reader 8 installed, the "To:" in my email is filled in with the proper email address.
If I create a new form in Acrobat Professional 9, and use acrobat reader 9, I don't have this problem.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I dont know how to move it. I'll mark it as answered and post a new one!

  • Safari 4 and Acrobat Reader bug over HTTPS

    Hi all,
I have a web application which generates PDF files over an HTTPS connection and displays them inside the browser window. This application worked fine in Safari 3 and with Acrobat Reader 8. Now with Safari 4 and Acrobat Reader 8 or 9, the window stays white (Reader 9) or black (Reader 8) or displays an eternally spinning cursor. When i switch to Preview , it works fine. Right clicking on the PDF then and asking to display it in Acrobat also works fine, so I think it might be related to Safari 4.
Anyone had the same problem, or anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this problem.
    Michael

  • Plugin check says the Acrobat Reader plugin (10.0.1.434) is an outdated version; however, I downloaded the latest version of Acrobat and installed it. Is there a problem on my PC /environment or with the plugin check?

    1. Did the plugin check on June 10th -- got the message that Acrobat Reader plugin for Firefox and Netscape was an outdated version. Pressed the Update button on the page and was taken to the Adobe site.
    2. Downloaded the latest version, AdbeRdr1001_en_US.exe, and then ran the executable locally on the PC. The update completed normally. Note: I did not unistall the old Acrobat reader before running the executable.
    3. Went back to the plugin check page and I still received the outdated message for that plugin. Have rebooted system (i.e. the next day) and repeated the check, with the same results.
    4. Have opened Acrobat Reader application, pressed Help and then Check for Updates -- no new updates were found. Have run the Mozilla test (Mozilla Privacy Policy PDF) without any issues.
    5. What is the plugin version that should be registered on my PC within the Add-ons Manager?
    6. Please advise on the appropriate steps.

I think there is a bug in Plug-in check. It happened to me as well in the last few days. There's no newer version of Adobe Reader that I know of. Anyway, Adobe is going to release a patch next Tuesday, maybe that'll fix this bug.

    Bonjour,
depuis l'installation d'acrobat reader 8, tous mes programmes

  • Is Adobe by any chance resolving the z-index for Acrobat Reader Plugin?

I have a situation where a DHTML pulldown menu needs to z-index infront of an embedded PDF <object> or a PDF <Iframe>.
I have attemtpted this several different ways, which included z-indexing the DHTML menu as far to the front as possible, and adding a div tag around the <object> or <iframe> in an attempt to z-index it back -1.  These did not work for the embed PDF, although it worked for the css border around that PDF.
With the exception of finding one JQUERY script online (which only resolves the Acrobat Reader z-index plugin issue for IE6), there was nothing else.
And there seems to be many people looking for answers to this problem.
It would certainly be a vaulable function, and am wondering if Adobe has attempted to add this feature in upcoming versions?
    Thanks,
    ZY

  • Need advise on a problem one of my customer have with properties going missing in Acrobat Reader

    Hi there.
I need some advise on a major problem I got with acrobat reader on one of my customer's laptop.
I might not have all the informations, but I can explain about everything that I could dig out of the problem.
One of my customer asked me to find a solution to his problem as he just bought a Mac laptop and he has only been using a Windows PC before. He needed a way to be able to manipulate some texts and picture on a file (template) that he print a couple of times each week. I have built a 2 pages PDF form for him and it was a success on every computer we tried it on, except for his new Mac Laptop.
Whenever we open the file on his laptop in acrobat reader, every single properties of any forms are not readed.
    Those "missing" properties include :
    - Everything in the "Text field property" which include size, choice of font (I specifically took a system font available on both PC and Mac and tested it on another Mac), alignment and apearances.
    - All forms, checks and buttons are resetted to a "default" appearance.
The names and ID of the forms seems to be correct and forms with the same name seems to work. (if he fills in one part, it automaticly fills some parts on the 2nd pages instead of having him rewrite the whole stuff.)
The sizes of the forms are correct too. It seems to only affect the form properties, but not the manually inserted javascript.
I tried to open another form PDF I took from the Web (gouvernment forms) and it seems like the problem is not from my file as it happen with all PDF files with forms.
I checked his Acrobat Reader version and it seems like it's up to date, as well as his java software.
Since I couldn't do a full check-up and tried to reinstall Acrobat Reader and java as I only had about 20 minutes to check things, I'm asking around before taking that kind of option into account.
If any got any idea or have already experienced that kind of strange thing, please tell me where could the problem be.
    Thanks!

The file is opened manually with Adobe Reader directly on the customer's computer harddrive. (Right click on the file directly stored on the desktop. "Open with ..." and then select "Adobe Reader". The program showed on the top bar is Acrobat Reader and it's hard to mix it up as it's totally different from the "Preview" program on the Mac.)
If I opened it with Preview (on the Mac), it was even LESS buggy. While some options  are not accessible in Preview (mainly those who use javascripts or adobe reader/acrobat only features), the visual that aren't working in Adobe Reader were working fine. Since some basic options aren't available in Preview, my customer needs to use it in Adobe Reader.
I can garanty that the problem is related to Adobe Reader and/or maybe background process that Adobe Reader uses (for exemple : Java, C++, etc.)
I asked around to know if someone have already experienced this issue and if they have found a way to repair it without doing a full reinstall of every kind of process that Adobe Reader uses.
Also, if I'm doing a clean up for a restoration of Adobe Reader, is there any other program to reinstall then Adobe Reader and Java?

  • Basic Feature missing in Acrobat Reader 7

I am totally disappointed, that comments can't be printed by Acrobat Reader 7.
I have just upgraded to Acrobat Prof 7 and Reader 7, expecting to enable projects partners printing comments. Tests have shown, editing comments works absolutely fine in both programs, but printing comments in Reader 7 doesn't work ( - in Prof 7 it does of course).
Is this the Business Politics of Adobe to have the clients upgrade again to version 8 to activate Comments printing in Acrobat Reader ???
This no fair play any more, it reminds me of Oracle and Microsoft behavior ...

    >>>But the result by functionality (from the user's point of view) is generally the same
LiveCycle Reader Extensions is a server product and it is primarily targeted enterprises and large coorporations. Its costs are in the thousands or more whereas Acrobat is the end user desktop version and it costs about $400 a piece.
What makes you think that they are the same? Your argument is "a vehicle is a vehicle". However, there is a big difference between a "motocycle" and a "commercial bus". Even though both of them takes you from point A to point B. But there are capabilities that a bus can do that the motocycle can't. You can put more people on the bus but you can't with the motocycle. You can be comfortable as a driver and passengers on the bus and the ride can last for hours but you can't do that with the motocycle.
It is simple, they are two different things even though they are in the same categoy called "vehicle".
The "motocycle-bus" analogy is comprehensive to a novice because it is a physical things that one can see. When it comes to software, it is a conceptual things that is not too obvious.
    >>>I have been in Software development for two decades, it is just copying code form Acrobat Prof to the Reader program at maximum, more probably these lines of code are already in but have been disabled in Acrobat Reader ...!!!
Then you should already know it better if you claim that you are in software industry for 2 decades.
You know Karl, until someone else (maybe it would be you) comes out with something similar to Adobe products, everyone of us still have to pay to use Adobe products.
Remember the day when we had to pay for a browser? Browsers are now basically free and can do a lot more than what its ancestors can.
