Acrobat X Professional - Batch Convert - Please FIX!

When batch converting multiple MSWord Documents into Acrobat PDF's the process strips the title from the document (in the properties of the MS Word document) and replaces it with "filename.doc".
When you need to process 100's of work documents daily this becomes a tedious nightmare having to add individual titles to each and every pdf file.
As a power user of Acrobat this has never been an issue with any past version of the product. Please fix this.

Thanks for your reply Dave.
We have tried multiple ways to do this.
From explorer and selecting "Covert to Adobe PDF" although it works is not practicle with the volume of PDF's we create and each conversion requires user input.
The "Batch Create multiple files" from the File -> Create menu strips the title from the documents.
Im not sure what your mean by "opening multiple files in the selection dialog from the Create PDF button in Acrobat". Can you please explain this?
Just some backgrounf on ourselves. We are a team of 7 all using Acrobat X Pro 10.0.1. We are an Area Health Service Department based in Sydney Australia and we manage an intranet which covers 10 large city hospitals and associated allied health and other community services. We process many 1000's of PDFs. None of us in the team have been able to find a work around. I would really appreciate further information as requested above if you can help.

  • Acrobat 9 Professional Batch Processing Problem

I created a batch sequence to change the Subject under Description to run on selected folders. It ran perfectly in Acrobat 6. In Acrobat 9, when I select run sequence, I have to click OK for each file until it runs on all files in a folder. My output options are the same as Acrobat 6, I'm overwriting existing files and keeping originial name.

    I don't see any way.

When i try to make a batch processing command using Crop Pages the Apply To: drop down box is grayed out.
I need to apply the crop page to the odd pages but because the box is grayed i cannot select this option. Is there something i can do to make the drop down box selectable?

  • Batch Convert InDesign Files to PDF: Acrobat 9 Pro Opens CS3

A question came up in the InDesign forum about batch converting InDesign files. I've never really needed to do it but I was aware of the batch convert command. The OP reported errors so I tried it myself and while it worked, for some reason Acrobat 9 Pro is opening InDesign CS3 even though I have CS4 and CS5 installed.
I can't seem to find any way to change the default for INDD files. I tried launching ID CS5 first, but Acrobat still launched ID CS3. If I double click an INDD file in Windows Explorer, it opens in CS5 so the operating system has the default correct.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Thanks,
I just found that out, too.
What I'd like to find out is how to fix this.

  • I am unable to convert certain files to pdf with Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional

I am unable to convert Word & PowerPoint files to pdf.  (I am able to convert image files & excel)
I have enable macros in Word and still cannot convert the file.
I am getting the error popup:
    Unable to open the document
Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file
    I am running:
Windows XP Professional Ver 2002 SP 3
    Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
    Microsoft Office 2007

Open the document in WORD or PPT and print to the Adobe PDF printer. With PPT, you will have to select the fill page option. You may also be able to use PDF Maker in WORD or PPT. From your post I am assuming you are trying to open directly in Acrobat and all of these other things have to be working properly before the latter will work. If they work and you still can not open directly in Acrobat, then try a repair on Acrobat.

  • Can I use Adobe Acrobat X Pro to batch convert v1.6 PDF files to v1.3?

Recently I have posted up a project so the contractor can read the text in the PDF and create hyperlinks from these text. These PDFs are in format of engineering drawings.
He informed me that he was going to use PHP to read the PDF text as javascript cannot.
He then asked me to convert the version of our current PDF files from v1.6 to a lower version: v1.3, because php cannot work with higher PDF versions.
So I found this PDF version converter: [link removed by forum host] but it only converts one by one. I have like a few hundreds of them, so I really need something to do batch convert.
Could anyone help me out here? We (the small business I am working at) do not have Adobe Acrobat X Pro but will buy it if it can do the job.
Otherwise could anyone advise me of any other software that can do this?
    Thanks heaps.

Yes, Acrobat XI Pro can do this very easily. You can create an Action that runs the PDF Optimizer tool, which can convert the file content so it's compatible with any earlier version of PDF (as well as other things). Actions can then be run against a folder of files.

  • Does Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional support image which has been converted to a PDF to be edited?

    Hi,
Does Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional support the content of an image which has been converted to a PDF file to be edited?
Sometimes when I try to edit the content of a PDF file which was created by converting an image into a PDF file, I notice that Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional tells me that this Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot support this content.
On the other hand, even if Adobe Acrobat professional could edit a PDF file, I notice that there are far too many restrictions to edit the content, for example, if your new editing words are more than the old then the line goes out the page instead of going to a new line. In addition, if you reached to the end of a line, and then you press 'Enter' to let the rest of words of the last line be written  on the next line, you notice that the words  writes on the words of  line which follows the line which is being edited. As a result, the text would be quite crazy.
Any comments would be highly appreciated

  • Batch convert a series of web pages w/ Adobe Acrobat Pro XI?

Is there the capability using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI to batch convert a series of web pages (e.g., feed to Acrobat a list of URL's to process, et al)?
Any and all replies would be most welcome and appreciated.
"Today's the best day of my life ... and NOW you're part of it!"
    Craig

Dude,  (Why do I feel like I'm in the movie "The Big Lebowski"? [ret.])
It depends on what you are feeding Acrobat and how you are feeding Acrobat.
If it's a bunch of HTML files then you can create an Action to convert the contents of a folder.
If it's just URLs then it's a little more complicated.  You might need to create a JavaScript to accept all of the URLs individually and then process them in order to the Create PDF from Web Page feature.
Wait for more responses though because there are a lot of people who have probably done this already and have better ideas than the ones I propose.

  • Help with Illustrator Script! Batch convert files including subfolders - please help! :)

    Hello,
I honestly have tried reading the other answers and researching to try to solve this problem.  I'm sorry for my ignorance in this area.  Please help!!!
I'm trying to make a script (for Illustrator CS2) that will batch convert several files to PNG files.  The source folder has several subfolders and I need the script to go into the subfolders and convert those files as well.  The destination directory should be an entirely separate folder but with the same hierarchy as the original source folder.
The script I have been using (that converts just as I need) is below.  The only problem is it doesn't do the subfolders.
Any help would be so amazingly appreciated!

In any case, any major edition in a PDF file is best done in the original file (the one from which the PDF was produced), creating a new PDF when finished.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional w/ Windows 8.1

Previously I had Windows Vista Home Basic and everything ran smoothly with Acrobat.  One thing that I loved was if I ran out of ink or could not print for some other reason, I had Adobe in the list of printers.  Well Adobe is not showing up in the list of printers nor can I get it to show up there by trying several different things.  My Adobe product is Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and my Windows system is now Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (though I’m starting to regret this).    I’m seeing that 64 Bit is the problem but really? Is there no fix for this other than spending hundreds of dollars yet again?  I’m beginning to think the computer and software is only for the very-very rich!  Who can afford this stuff with its updates every year!  They really know how to make a buck but what about the people who cannot afford to keep paying for these things?  I know I could switch back but I did a clean install and in order to switch back, I’d have to find the Vista cd again (which I tried) or end up buying that again!  Ugghh  All I want is for the Adobe Acrobat to be available as a printer, the program itself works, just not what I guess Adobe is labeling as the “extras.”  I have tried the below…but none of anything I have tried for the last three days has worked – not even talking to Adobe because they gave me the links to this forum and the online support – because their chat is for the rich who can purchase XI at 400-900 dollars!  Please if anyone knows a solution to this that might help me?

Did the “Customization Wizard” but the other file (Transformer Tool) would not load install – received message “Acrobat Transforms Update did not find any valid installed Acrobat products or you do not have sufficient privileges to update registry.”  Grrrrr
Installed PDFFilter64Setup.msi  --- seemed to accept it but I’m not sure it changed a thing!

Keep in mind that AA8 is just about prior 64-bit and has not been updated to maintain currency with the newer OS and platforms. As a minimum, you need to do the updates to AA8. The updates are important for 64-bit systems. You may or may not get it to work. If it looks like it, please report what parts work and what parts fail. The links try to address the issues, but we need to know what works after you do the updates. Does Acrobat open (your note suggests it does) and appear to work? Does Distiller open and is it able to convert a PS file to a PDF (it can only operate on EPS and PS files)? Is there an Adobe PDF printer present? Can you print to the printer with print-to-file selected? Is AcroTray running in the background.
With a new system, new software is commonly required. In fact, Win 8.1 may have problems with old hardware like VISTA came on. I still run a Dell system with XP on it. Most things run fine (though I have to get rid of malware and such periodically). So you don't really have to update with every change, but you may be on your own with some things -- or depend on forums like this to try to help.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - Batch Create Multiple Files from InDesign CS5 files

When attempting to batch create PDFs from Indesign CS5 files using Acrobat Pro 9's File>Create PDF>Batch Create Multiple Files ... option the operation fails with the error 'Could not find the application that created this file: [path to file] Please select a file created by an application that resides on your computer.' as shown in the screenshot below:

  • Question about updating Acrobat 7 Professional

I work at a newspaper in Pikeville, KY. We receive pdf files from many other papers around the region and we use Acrobat to open and convert for print use.
One of our computers is currently running Acrobat Professional 7.1.0 and we are having issues when converting to .eps files. I was wondering if updating the software (not purchasing Acrobat 8, just updating the current version) would help fix some of these issues. It will convert some of our incoming print jobs just fine, but others have problems like not separating colors and replacing text. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
