Activated overlays color won't show in menus

I am using DVDSP4, I have 5 menus, the first is a video background, the others are jpegs. In the main (video) menu, i have three buttons with simple underlines as the overlays. When they are in selected mode...they are white...then if you activate one of them..they turn red, then you are taken to one of 2 video tracks...or a sub menu. When you are in the other 4 sub menus...the underlines are white when in select mode (just like the main menu)..but when you activate one of them, rather than turn red and go one of the chapters in the video track...the underline just disappears, then you go to the video track....I am trying to make it turn red (the activated color it is set at) before you are taken to the video chapter. Any thoughts?

Seemed to work just fine when I tested the code (with my .swf). Tested in Chrome, FF, IE, Safari.
Does your Chrome have the Flash plugin?
But a couple of things..
quotes missing here:
margin= 0, auto;>
Seems like you are trying to scale to exact fit?
#flashContent { width:100%; height:100%; }

Won't work with pixel dimensions for the .swf:
width="850" height="567"
and
tag... set W/H params to 100% and remove
if you want to scale to exact fit 100% W and H
Best of luck!

• Dropdown won't show (combobox, Menus)

Hi Everyone,
I have a problem that's getting on my nerve just a bit. I'm working on a EMR app
and would like to display a PDF file in my Flex app. I'm using the HTML
component to display it which works good so far, but my current version of the
screen is using a PopUpMenuButton to allow selection of a PDF file. My issue is
that once a selection is made and the PDF is loaded, if I try and select a
option from the menu again, the dropdown won't display (or its getting covered
up my the HTML control). I have 3 versions of this form and each have a simular
problem. THe first version follows:
<mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="absolute" resize="resizeWindowContents()">
<mx:ApplicationControlBar dock="true" fillAlphas="[1.0, 1.0]"
fillColors="[#0E0847, #FFFFFF]">
<mx:Label text="Select Form" fontWeight="bold" fontSize="12"
color="#990000"/>
<mx:ComboBox width="293" id="cmbForms" visible="true" change="changeEvt(event)"
>
<mx:dataProvider>
<mx:ArrayCollection>
<mx:Object label="822 Individualized Treatment Plan" data="C:\PDF Docs\822
Individualized Treatment Plan 6-29-2009 (Reader).pdf"/>
<mx:Object label="822 Psychosocial" data="C:\PDF Docs\822 Psychosocial
6-3-2009 (Reader).pdf"/>
<mx:Object label="822 Utilization Review Form" data="C:\PDF Docs\822
Utilization Review Form (Reader).pdf"/>
</mx:ArrayCollection>
</mx:dataProvider>
</mx:ComboBox>
<mx:Spacer width="100%"/>
<mx:Button label="Back"/>
<mx:Button label="Submit"/>
</mx:ApplicationControlBar>
<mx:HTML id="PDFViewer" width="100%" height="100%" resize="ResizeViewer()"
x="0" y="0"/>
</mx:WindowedApplication>
Note: Scripts not shown
In the version above when the form first loads (without a PDF file) the Dropdown
on the combobox is visable. Once I select a option and a PDF is loaded the
dropdown no longer displays in full, meaning it appears that the dropdown gets
trapped inside the ApplicationControlBar.
The last version follows:
<mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="absolute">
<mx:PopUpMenuButton y="0" label="PopUpMenuButton" width="100%" id="pb2"
labelField="@label"
showRoot="false"
dataProvider="{menuData}"
creationComplete="initData();"
itemClick="changeEvt(event);"/>
<mx:HTML id="PDFViewer" width="100%" height="100%" resize="ResizeViewer()"
x="0" y="21"/>

{label: "Psychosocial", data: "1"},
{label: "Utilization Review Form", data: "2"}
private function changeEvt(event:MenuEvent):void {
var index:int;
var filepath:String;
index = event.currentTarget.label;
switch (index) {
case 0 :
filepath = "C://PDF Docs//ITP.pdf";
case 1 :
filepath = "C://PDF Docs//Psych.pdf";
case 2 :
filepath = "C://PDF Docs//Util.pdf";
PDFViewer.removeChildAt(0);
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(filepath)
pdf = new HTMLLoader();
pdf.height = PDFViewer.height;
pdf.width = PDFViewer.width;
pdf.load(request);
PDFViewer.addChildAt(pdf, 0);

</mx:Script>
</mx:WindowedApplication>
Question, How do I keep the dropdown on top of all other control on the form?
Thanks for any help.

An iPod Classic does not use iOS 7.0.4, as suggested in the footer at the bottom of your first post. In fact, it doesn't use iOS, and the iPod's operating system has not been updated in a long while.
Look on the iPod, under Settings/About and press the centre button until the "version" is displayed. Mine says 1.1.2 PC. You may have a different version, but as far as I know, they have not been updated recently either.
Has your car been serviced recently? Perhaps the manufacturer has updated the car's stereo, and that is why things have changed.
By the way, when I connect my iPod Classic to my Mazda, the iPod's display does vary. Sometimes it shows (in the centre of the screen) the name of the first song to be played when connected, even when subsequent songs are being played, other times it says "don't browse iPod while driving". In both cases, it shows the Now Playing song's title at the bottom of the iPod's screen, and scrolls it with the artist name.
P.S. I noticed these screens while still parked, not whilst driving.

• Transparency set as overlay won't show in .pdf

First of all, I'm not completely sure that this question isn't really for Adobe Acrobat. Also, I am using CS5 with Windows 7.
I have drawn grey lines to cross out text in my book. The 100% lines were too dense for the characters to show through, so I went to Object\Effects\Transparency, set the transparency at 75% on Overlay. None of this came through on the .pdf I am now checking before I make a final .pdf that will go to press. The .pdf was generated via Ctrl-E as a high-quality print doc.
The grayscale is at 35%, and when I bumped it up to 50%, none of the lines showed up this way, either. My grayscales are really a form of black, too, as I did a Separations preview.
My book has two layers, and both are active. And in the Print dialog box has a check mark at "Print non-printing objects."
I am really sad that these somewhat transparent lines won't show! Any ideas as to what I can do to make them happen? I do have a Plan B without them, but I'd really like them in there if it's possible.
Sigh....and I wanted to submit the book files today...... Well, I'll keep going on my final review and hope to hear from someone soon.
Thanks.

Although I created a new file and dropped all those text boxes and lines in, the original file did in fact start out in ID3.
I thought that might be the case. This is very typical of the kind of problem people are reporting when directly converting legacy .indd files in CS5 and later, and often the problems don't show up until output, like this. Sometimes they're fatal, too.
I've never had an issue with one of my own files, so I don't know waht riggers this, but I no longer even consider opeing legacy files in new versions. Instead I export to .inx (CS4 or earlier) or .idml and convert that. You might be able to rescue this file by exporting to .idml, opening it in CS4 if you can find a copy, exporting to .inx, open that in CS3, re-export to .inx and open that in CS6. I didn't try that, so I don't know if it will work. If I get a chance, though, I will. There will probably be text re-flow issues, though after the conversions.

• When I open logic express 8 with eyetv open but not active and i close logic express 8 and make eyetv active it won't show closed captioning even though closed captioning is turned on

when I open logic express 8 with eyetv open but not active and i close logic express 8 and make eyetv active eyetv won't show closed captioning even though closed captioning is turned on. When I totally close eyetv and reopen eyetv and open a live tv window the closed captioning comes back. I never noticed this with os leopard, Just after i installed os snow leopard. All software is up to date only I think, thanks to apple they droped support for logic express. Thanks for any suggestions.

Does toggling CC off & back on bring it back?
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

Sorry if it's something really basic...I'm a noob to web design.
Thanks!

Don't use reserved words in JS
var event = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("events.xml", "catalog/event", {sortOnLoad: "date", sortOrderOnLoad: "descending"});
event is such a reserved word. If you change this to event1 then all is well.
I hope this helps.

• Cell background colors are not showing in preview - help? - DW4

Hi,
I created a horizontal table for my menu bar, and gave each cell a different color by creating a separate class for each with background image - image is a block of color created in Photoshop. In design mode they look they way I want, but in preview (Safari) the colors don't show up at all - the whole area is gray, and all I see is the text for each cell. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Alternatively, is there a better way I can set this up to have different colors for each button?
Thank you!

Here is the HTML code, and the CSS code for the menu bar follows:
ul.MenuBarHorizontal
><!body {     background-color: #FFF;     font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;}-->

• IPhone 5s won't show up in iTunes

I bought an iPhone 5s today and after it was fully activated and working, tried to hook it up to my computer. It said my itunes had to update, however it wouldn't update so I uninstalled itunes and downloaded it off of apple's site. This time it downloaded and when I checked itunes for updates, it said it was at 11.1.5 and current. However, when I plug my phone in, it won't show up in itunes. It registers on the computer and the phone asks me if I want to trust this computer, to which I answer yes.
I've tried checking the apple mobile support and stopping and starting it again along with anything else to do with the mobile. I've tried reinstalling, restarting and pretty much everything I can think of.
My computer is a fully updated, windows 8.1 HP

Error -50 is generally associated with firewalls or anti-virus software as described here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1583
Separately, are you using iTunes 11.1.4?

• "Mail" won't show my Yahoo mails...

Hello,
I'm using three boxes, all Yahoo. Had a minor problem with one of them and the Yahoo people told me they had switched the account to another server to solve the problem (which was actually solved).
But since then, "Mail" won't show the incoming mail. The activity indicator shows "x" mails having been collected but they don't show either on he screen or next to the account name...
One exception: as I tried to cancel then re-create the faulty account, it does collect messages the first time it opens...but then afterwards nothing shows although mails are showed to have been collected.
The other two boxes I use with Yahoo are collected without any problem.
Yahoo can't or won't help...
Anybody with an idea ??? Could the problem be linked with changing the server ? But then how is it hat mails are shown to have been collected by he activity counter even if they don't appear on he screen or next to he account name ?
Many thanks and greetings from southern France.

no one knew why i couldn't get my messages from the pop server at att/yahoo into my mail on my mac. there were no answered questions to the support topic why can i see mail activity....messages on the server, but not coming into the mail box? sending is fine, but for some reason, it suddenly stopped 3 days ago and for 3 days i searched for a fix. the only way i found this was a mail access error on the web mail thru att.yahoo where my messages showed up (they were also showing up on the i phone, not the mac)...had to verify the email....and while waiting, i found the att yahoo help page that cleared the whole problem
not removing files and putting them back in while opening and shutting mac....all the ports and ssls were checked and correct
apparently you have to clean your cache
totally all att's fault
Web Mail - How do I clear my browser's cache?
It's true, a clogged cache can slow down and even stop your browser. Who wants that? Not us. Let's get to work clearing your cache. Which browser are you using? Instructions are included below for each of these:
Firefox 2.x for Windows or Mac
1. For Windows or Mac, click Tools and select Clear Private Data.
2. In the window that opens, select whichever items you'd like to clear. When you're done, click Clear Private Data Now.
Safari 3 for Mac
1. In the Safari menu, click Empty Cache. That's it!
2. To also clear the History, click the History menu and click Clear History (at the bottom).

• External Hard Drive Won't Show Up

Hello.
I have a Toshiba Canvio Connect HDTC605XK3A1, a little more than three years old. It's a 3.0 HDD and I've been using a 2.0 USB wire instead of the 3.0 wire, it works fine, but since it's not connected in that other connector, it can be loose and the HDD does turn off. So, I finally got a 3.0 wire for it so it doesn't turn on and off by a little movement but now I don't see the HDD in my finder? This is strange because it works with the 2.0 wire. The light on the HDD is a different color as well, it's blue instead of white. Nothing in the manual indicates what this means, I've also searched online to see what it means, can't find anything. Does anyone know why it won't show up in my finder? It won't show up in the disk utility as well and when I go to the terminal and type in "diskutil list," it doesn't come up.

I've used two different 3.0 USB wires, both with the same results.

• Why won't show buttons only on this PC player?

Both me and a friend of mine have just made (separately) a few menus for one client...the menus I've done all use a simple one layer transparent png file (done in photoshop) of arrows next to each video which SHOULD highlight as you roll over the text...My friend also did a few menus (on his mac) but used psd files which have buttons on separate layers as well as a text highlight when rolled over...
Problem is while these burned DVD's with our menus play fine on macs and even set top players, even on a player called Interplay on a PC, both his and my menus will not HIGHLIGHT on Windows Media Player - ie, the arrows on my png file won't show up at all ever, on Windows player, even latest version. You still get the mouse turning into a hand/finger when you roll over a button, but there is never any icon/arrow showing up as it should, next to the text one rolls over - do you have to use something other than psd or png for Windows Media Player, or what is a fix for this Windows thing, what advice can you give - client (and us) not happy. They say it MUST be able to play correctly on Windows Media Player (as it's the most pervasive).
We are both using DVD SP 4.2.1.
Thanks
K

Actually the problem is Windows Media Player. WMP is well know for being the buggiest DVD player around. All the PC hardware manufacturers are well aware of how buggy WMP is so they all include a more reliable program for playing DVDs. Typically PowerDVD or WinDVD. HP installs WinDVD on every PC that has a DVD drive because they know how unreliable WMP is. I think Dell installs PowerDVD. If you check with your client you will find that they have something more reliable than WMP already installed on their computer. Use that.

• Artists won't show up?

When I go to the artist menu on my iPod classic 80gb, some of the artists don't show up. Their songs are still there though because I can get to them from the album and song menus. Why?

It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.
You should also check that the songs have album name info in their ID tags.
See: Some songs don't show under artist on my iPod.
Once you add a second album name for that artist even for a single song, ALL the rest of the songs should now show up under that artist, even those without album names.
Providing the spelling for the artists is exactly the same of course.

• Direct selection tool won't show the handles when clicking the path.

When I draw a line, no matter if it's done with pen, pencil or brush tool, and try to select a point with the direct selection tool, it won't make a selection, I can't get the handles activated. They don't show at all. It only shows the line transform handle. This happens only in one certain file. When I open a different file or create a new one, the problem doesn't exist.

Acca,
Ctrl/Cmd+H.
It toggles View>Show/Hide Edges.
The key combination Ctrl/Cmd+H is the most vulnerable one, completely surrounded by other key combinations all only waiting to wreck things when you look the other way. Or you may have tried to use one of them, then just (thought you) repeated it when it (seemingly) failed to work the first time.

thanks!

Seemed to work just fine when I tested the code (with my .swf). Tested in Chrome, FF, IE, Safari.
Does your Chrome have the Flash plugin?
But a couple of things..
quotes missing here:
margin= 0, auto;>
Seems like you are trying to scale to exact fit?
#flashContent { width:100%; height:100%; }

Won't work with pixel dimensions for the .swf:
width="850" height="567"
and
tag... set W/H params to 100% and remove
if you want to scale to exact fit 100% W and H
Best of luck!

• IOS7 xcode5 Edge Animations won´t show on iPad

Hi,
i´ve just updated my development ipad and xcode to ios7 and xcode 5.
The app i´m developing uses webviews to display content – which includes images and edge animations –
embedded in one html-file using iscroll.js to swipe through (one page ould be an image, the next a Edge Animation,
separated in
-elements).
The Edge-Animations won´t show up, its just a blank page. However the iOS-Simulator shows everything correctly
but on the ipad the Animations just won´t show. Is this a known issue?
Thanks!

Hi there,
i´ve been on vacation – sorry for the late reply. The problem is solved, well partially.
I´ve had an error in the export-settings, which turned out not to be the problem after all, but first this:
Sorry, its the german Version. I´ve had the Framework via CDN-Option activated, which obviously could not work
if your ipad has no wireless-connection at all. You could image my embarrasement, once i´ve figured that out
But, after exporting all the animations again, this time with the right settings, it still didn´t work. I solved i with
a little trick – i´ve inserted a SIM-Card, the ipad loaded the framework and then it still worked after removing
the card again. I don´t know how the caching within an App works, but i´m a little bit confused by the fact, that
it didn´t work without the SIM-Card after replacing every Animation. But i´m confident that it will work out
somehow later in this week, i keep you posted.
Thanks,
André
