Active IPAD 2 Problems after full restore

We followed this:
If you're locked out of your iPad and it's telling you that you need to disable "Find my iPhone".
And... you have access to a computer that you've synced your iPad with before.
Do these steps in the very specific order:
Pull up itunes on your computer
Turn off your ipad
Plug the cord into your computer (a computer that you have synced your iPad with before)... DO NOT PLUG INTO IPAD YET
Hold down the home buttom (The iPad is off.. and not plugged in)
Keep the home button pressed down.... Until I mention to release it
With the home button pressed down (the circle button).... with iTunes on the computer... and with the cord plugged into the computer....  Now, plug in the cord to the iPad. (Keep the home button pressed in).
On iTunes it will offer you the option to restore the iPad (This will wipe everything from you ipad unless it's backed up in the cloud).
Once you've clicked "restore" for the computer to start erasing and restoring... ONLY THEN release the home button (circle button).
Wait a bit.... It will do it's thing.
Eventually it will restore to apple settings.
But stopped in Active iPAD Screen.
We have the right Apple ID ( We tested the ID and the password ), we have access to email account ( same Apple ID ), but ITUNES showing that [email protected] can't be used to unlock this iPad !!! What's happing ?

Apple - Fix this!!!!!!
Apple, THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED TO LOOK on iOS 6 regarding "WIFI Lockout"!!!!!!
When this happens (WIFI freezes up aka "WIFI Lockout") – you can not get on internet while using WIFI!!!!!
You could be in the middle of surfing or using any app that makes data calls based on DNS and suddenly you can go no where or do nothing!
Yea sure, you can restart the WIFI connection, but WHO wants to CONTINUALLY do that?????
Apple (or any curious iOS 6 user that wants to see my point), when this happens open up a browser before you reset, disconnect/reconnect WIFI ( I tried both safari and chrome ) and type type 74.125.227.144 (google) and then “go”. A google search page will come up and you will be able to execute a search. (of course any link you click on will not work as it is dependant on DNS resolution)
Non DNS traffic works so the issue is not the WIFI connection to the access point!
APPLE, FOCUS ON FIXING THIS DNS DATA ISSUE AND YOU WILL GET MANY PEOPLE OFF YOU BACK!!!!
I KNOW THIS IS NOT ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WITH iOS 6, BUT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM NOT BEING ABLE TO SURF OR GET DATA THE iOS 6 DEVICE IS REQUESTING!!!!!

  • Unstable After Full Restore

    Hi all,
iPad 1 owner. Latest updates applied. Plenty of free space.
I have random flakeyness in all applications - mail, facebook, games - Some freeze. Some quit unexpectedly. Really hard to use.
I did the three R's - Restart, Hard Reset, and finally a full Restore.
Still I get the same behaviors. And they're getting worse.
Can it be a specific app that is messing up the entire thing?  I would hate to go through the binary problem solving method that I used in Mac OS 9 to figure out which extension was causing problems. That is a royal pain.
Is it time for a Genius Bar visit?
    Thanks for any help
    -Ray

Did you restore from a backup? Could be a software problem being backed up then being brought back by the restoration. Restore as new and sync your content back on instead of restoring from a backup.
Does you iPad have enough extra room to work with? I'd leave at least a couple of GB for it to use for running the apps and iOS.
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If these things don't help it might be best to Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • Problems with Full Restore

The HD on my IMAC recently died. After having it replaced at the Apple store, I did a full restore which seemed to work correctly. However, several programs will not work properly:
    VMWare Fusion-Errors
Firefox-Attempting to start seems to do nothing.
    Word/Excel-Microsoft User Database Corrupt.
Any thoughts on what the problems might be? Other programs such as Safari seem to be fine.
    Joe

The most likely solution is to reinstall that software. You can repair the MS User Database. If I remember correctly you hold down the OPTION key when launching one of the Office applications which should open the repair dialog.

  • Time Machine not backing up after full restore from back up.

Problems started after I restored my Mac Pro from a TM back up.
Mac Pro has 1TB of storage and used less 500 GB (414.1 GB), so
I used a partitioned 1TB ext HD 500/500, and used one partition for
the Mac Pro and backed up properly before the full restore, since I used
less than 500 of the 1TB.
After the restore my TM failed to back up because it required approx 800 GB.
So I thought my old OS must still be on the internal or some type of duplicate
so I erased the free space at the most slowest speed, 10 hrs later sure enough
I reduced everything to 414.1 GB.
So I attempted to back up to my 500 GB TM with no success, says I still need
    1.75 TB.
I Tried reformatting and renaming my ext TM back up HD with the same partition
set up. I even update my OS to mavericks.
    Any new ideas out there?

I dont remember if I hit inherit.
TM started working after I reformatted it, but stopped backing up.
I have 500 GB drive i'm using so its more than enough space.
Since my 1 TB internal HD is only using 389 GB.
The back up that I have now is from this 1 TB HD.

  • Account and filesystem permissions after full restore

I just did full restore, both old and new machines are indentical.
    Problem:
Logged into restored account lets call it 'restored_guy', running system update I am getting error "Can not install upgrade, no permissions"
The same user can not browse in backup using time machine, no index nor dates.
All works for different users (time machine, and updates) originally created on the system.
    Any ideas ?

I have exactly the same problem as iGin. All other programs appear to be behaving normally, just Apple Mail and Safari crash immediately after starting them up - very annoying!

  • Apple Logo freeze after full Restore

I have just replaced a screen on my daughters i-phone 3G.
When I booted it back up I just got the apple logo - and no further.
I have updated to the latest version of itunes, then into Restore mode - and tried to do a full restore.
After another agonising long time with the download - the i phone still will not boot up past the apple logo.
I am at my wits end now - surely it is only the software that is preventing it working properly now so why wont it restore??

i am having problams with this as well i did a full restore on my iphone 3g aND NOW IT WONT WORK ITS STUCK ON THE APPLE SIGN AND THIS IS MY 3 IPHONE 3G BECAUSE THEY ALL KEEP BREAKING SOME ONE WHO KNOW WHAT TO DO CAN YOU PLEASE REPLY

  • Time machine backup takes forever after full restore

My HD went haywire yesterday but luckily I was able to restore everything from my backup (and the Mac even got a speedier, yay).
But for some reason I can take new backups. Time machine works forever, seemingly want to replace most files on the backup (250 GB, 500000+ files) and have now for more than 12 hours stood at “44 MB backed up”. The problem repeats itself when I stop and retry the back up procedure.
I have tried to create a new back up on the same Time Machine drive but I am unable to rename the old “backup.backudb” folder, so thats not a solution.
    ANy ideas?

After a restore Time Machine will back up everything again.  Because of that, if possible the initial backup should be done over Ethernet, not Wi-Fi.  See item D3 on this post.

  • I photo lost after full restore

i did a full restore at the apple store with a tech .. computer had slowed down .. so i restored it having a complete backup from Time Machine.. the tech then reloaded Maverick and told me to restore my files with the time machine.. the backup shows on my mac but no restore is offered.. my iphoto, final cut and garage band are not included in the new maverick.. how can i restore them?

Applications like thoses are not included in OS releases
    reinstall from the original source
    Could be
1 - the restore disks that came with the computer
    or
2 - the iLife DVD that you purchased
    or
3 - the app store - log in under the Apple id used to purchase the software or to set up the computer - look under purchases - you might have to unhide or accept the Application first

  • MacBook Pro super slow, unusable! Even after full restore

My Mac got incredibly slow and ghee fans were tremendously loud and fast. Idk what was wrong so I did a full restore. Even wiped all my data. The past week my MacBook Pro has been so slow I have been unable to use it. Loading, typing, even moving the mouse.

    Hi C,
Try running Verify Disk from Disk Utility. It could be a HD issue.
It might help someone to help you if you listed your exact model of MBP, what OS you're running, how much RAM you have, the capacity of your HD and how much free space you have available on it.

  • HT201412 iPad 2, ios 7.0.2; Apple logo when cover opened requiring a reset to start iPad even after system restored through iTunes.  Same problem with Lock / Unlock off.

This problem only started after installing ios 7.0.2 on 3 Aug 2013.  The iPad must now be switched off before closing the magnetic cover or the system freezes displaying the Apple logo.  I think the lock up occures as the cover is closed as the iPad was quite warm when I returned to use it about 2 hours later.  The battery was fully charged just prior to the upgrade, but, after a system reset to get the iPad running again, I found the previously full battery down to abt. 20%.  I have tried turning the (auto) "Lock / Unlock" off but closing and re opening the cover still reveals a black screen with the Apple logo, and the need to reset.  I restored the iPad through iTunes but the problem still remains........any ideas any one.........APPLE ???

    Thank you for your perseverence.
Yes I am the first and only owner/user of this iPad.
No the iPad has never been jailbroken (or dropped, knocked, dunked or sat on)
    1) All Contents and Settings erased as per: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2110
         - Problem still exists -
    2) All Contents and Settings erased as per: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5661
         - Problem still exists -
Both of the above was conducted on a clean install with no backups restored.
The problem ocurred immediately after the iOS 7.0.2 upgrade. I have used the iPad every day since I got it shortly after version 2 came out and it had performed flawlessly right up to this upgrade. The upgrade was done wirelessly and the battery was fully charged. The iPad was disconnected from the charger before the start of the upgrade and no problems were encountered during the upgrade. I closed the cover on completion and that appears to be when the problem started. All subsiquent restores have been through iTunes 11.1.1.11 with no reported problems.

  • IPad touch screen does not respond even after full restore and update

    I have an iPad 2 64 GB
It has for a number of months intermittently stopped responding to any touch screen inputs. This issue began almost as soon as I opened the iPad for the first time. As it was happening very rarely and normally responded eventually, so I thought nothing of it.
This week the iPad will not respond to any touch input at all (Home, On/Off, Volume and Mute buttons still respond). I have tried the hard reset process a number of times and still nothing.
I backed up the device to my machine and applied the latest update 5.1.1 and still no response. I then did a factory reset and still nothing.
I have never dropped or damaged my iPad in any way.
Does anybody know of any ongoing issues with the touch screen or a solution to this problem?

    Thank you.
I've already booked myself in to the Genius Bar this week.
I suspect it is a hardware failure and more specifically a loose internal connection.

  • Problems with Full restore using Time Capsule backup???

For some reason my MacBook Pro recently crapped out completely, and I am trying to do a complete restore of the OS via a full backup I made with using Time Machine onto my Time Capsule disk, but I am running into some problems doing so and I was hoping someone might have some insight as to how I should deal with things at this point...
    Here's where things get messy...
    - I insert my Mac OS X 10.5 Installation DVD into my Macbook and boot from the drive, and I immediately choose the menu option to 'Restore from Time Capsule Backup'...
    - After logging into my Time Capsule and then choosing the proper .sparseimage file to restore from, I click 'continue' and it brings me to the screen where I choose where I want to restore to (which in my case, is the one and only internal HD inside my Macbook Pro)
    - The bottom of this window tells me that it's "Calculating space required to restore data..." but it simply hangs at the point with a spinning wheel indicating its still doing the calculating, but never actually presents me with the space required, not does it allow me to click continue to perform the restore?? I've allowed it over an hour to calculate the space required and it still just spins its status wheel...
This is where I am stuck at this point, and I have no idea how to get it to proceed to the next step to allow me to perform the restore??
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I will have no choice but to do a complete reinstall (including all apps and data) if I can't get the backup restored... Thanks!

I had the same problem when installing a new HDD in my Macbook. The solution I found was to reinstall Leopard onto the new HDD from the install CD, then reboot off the install CD once I had done this. I was then able to choose the 'Restore from Time Capsule' option and get my HDD to show up in the window.
A word of warning, once you have reinstalled Leopard and it starts asking you for all you info, as if for the first time to set up your computer, there is an option at the end of that process to restore your data from a Time Capsule backup. While this did restore all my files and so forth, it did not update any of the 'Apple' apps, i.e. iTunes, iPhoto, Quicktime, or the operating system itself, suggesting a 500Mb download via 'Software Update' to update the system. It was faster for me to reboot of the install CD and restore via the process outlines above. That way you get all your system updates included.
Not sure if this is the 'approved' method but it worked for me! The restore process took about 75 minutes for about 100Gb of data from my external backup drive connected to my Macbook via a Firewire cable.
    Hope this helps!

  • Ipad read only full restore failed

    Hi There,
My iPad won't retard after I have installed a the new version of the iOS. It wasn't starting before and thought this seemed to be a solution.
I have attached a picture of the error message that shows up. Anyone ever experience the same issue and found a solution?
Thanks in advance for the help!
    Laurent

I have an iPad4 that did the same thing (freezing, locking up, suddenly restarting, etc) right before it finally locked up for good / no longer works - couldn't restore or hard reset.  This happened soon after I updated to iOS 7.1.1. The local Apple Store confirmed it's dead / can't be fixed - 'update probably caused a hardware failure'...  My iPad4 is only 16 months old (so is no longer under warranty).  I never had a single problem with it until this happened.  My wife has the same device purchased at the same time - she hasn't updated to iOS7.1.1 yet and her iPad is still working fine.  The only remedy I rec'd from Apple - we'll sell you a 'replacement' iPad for $299 with a 90-day warranty...  Unbelievable.  Needless to say - not a happy customer...

  • Hard disk problems after full upgrade [SOLVED]

After a full upgrage (pacman -Suy) last monday, My system denied to boot:D:D:D:D:D.
So to fix it I have to go to /boot/grub/menu.list and change from hda3 to sda3. Everything seems to be Ok but when the system is booting and scan the the hard disk to check bad, It drops me to the shell with the error that there is something wrong with my hard disk and it suggest me to set the superblock to 8139.
So to fix it I boot my PC from Arch live CD, use the following command:
    #fsck.ext3 -c -f /dev/sda3
    #fsck.ext3 -b 8139
Everything seems to be Ok, there is no bad in my hard disk.
When I boot my system again, I got the same error again, I came back to live CD, check the hard disk, set the superblock as It told me and again, I got the error when I boot from the hard disk.
This is the second PC with the same error.
Three months ago, I upgraded my Server and got exactly the same problem. Because this is the server, I need it run ASAP, so I modified the rc.sysinit script so that the system will not check my hard disk when It boots. :P:P. And my Server can run without any problems since then.
I don't have time much to spend on this error and my PC is in the Lab now so I can't provide the detail of the error until next Monday. Sorry for that.
Any idea how to fix this error?
    Cheers.

:D:D I am a kind of lazy guy so when I did pacman -Suy, I just leave it running without reading information on the terminal.
milan wrote:I guess you didn't change entries in /etc/fstab (hda->sda).
Yes, you are right. I changed from hda to sda in /boot/grub/menu.lst but I forgot to do the same in /etc/fstab files. On Monday I will check again if it is set correctly or not
:D:D. I have just taken a quick look into the fstab file in my Server, The One with the same problem three months ago, and the fstab file is set correctly with sda partitions. I don't want to touch this server again or my services will be down. So this seems not the correct solution, but anyway, I will take a look at it next week.
    Thanks for your replies.
