Ad serving networks for Flash sites

We are looking for suggestions regarding ad networks who can
serve ads to sites that are built completely in Flash. We are
starting to see limitations, any suggestions on company's that can
serve us ads?

OK I've figured everything out.
The sites do need to store data, this is why they won't finish loading.
The reason they can't on the Leopard machine (Flash 10.1) is because it is intentionally configured to block Flash cookies. The reason they can't on the Snow Leopard machine (Flash 11.x) is because the new OSX Flash control panel is set to block all sites from storing anything on the computer.
(Incidentally Lion does have the traditional "Macromedia" folder -- it just hadn't been created yet with a new Lion OS install when I looked.)
This situation points out a MAJOR flaw in Flash development best practices today -- not error testing for your storage failing! Especially now that no-storage is an official, user-friendly option set with the Flash control panel. Flash should have some built-in error check method for this, but if not run a loop on reading something back from the disk and give up trying to load after 15 seconds.

  • Largest recommended size for flash site

    Hello there,
So, after just being dumped on from a great height by our development company I need to create an entire site in flash with login and dynamic addition of content etc etc..
Can anyone tell me what would be the recommended maximum size (pixel wise) for a flash site... what I have here is 1600px sq ?! Kinda large
It's mostly database driven so shouldn't lag too much from a point of view of file size, I'm just concerned because of the short deadline and I find this kind of large size wise to do 100% in flash..
I welcome your points of view !!
    Many Thanks
    Martin

    ***MOVED TO NEW THREAD***
    Hi kglad !
I know this subject is closed, but I'm wondering if you could help me a little.. If you would like me to repost I will move this to a new subject !
The swf is indeed centred but only once the window is past a certain size...
I would like, if the viewer has by example a window 1280px wide, that the swf is centred within the window with the 'bleed' area either side...
Would I need to create the background in HTML to do this ??
Also I will be using server side interaction via php within the swf. Can I simply change the suffix on my .html to .php or will this not be sufficient ?
Once again many thanks for your help

  • Small (s-i-m-p-l-e) Server/Network for 2-5 People

Can anyone recommend a small network/server solution for 2-5 people. I own a small graphic design business and I need to grow into a simple, basic server. My IT guy is recommending Xserve, RAID, tape backup, dual power supplies, back up power, etc. - I think the only thing missing is a diesel generator outside in case of a black out.
My point is, we're a small, simple company looking to share and back up working files that currently total about 50GB.
Couldn't we dedicate an old G4 1ghz and add Xserve along with a tape or external firewire drive for backup?
Anyone out there with a similar experience to share?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hey there Duke-
In addition to the other advice, and somewhat along the lines of that big diesel, don't forget a good UPS. When a personal computer hiccups because of power issues oh well, but when the server that is feeding the business fails, oh NO!
In addition to testing a restore from time to time, my other backup strategy/advice is to make sure that you always have one backup stored securely offsite, say at your house. An external firewire HD will work nicely here for now as well. Should something catastrophic happen to the main system, at least you will not lose all of your work.
As a side note, I too have a small business and needed a server solution. I just picked up a dual 2.0GHz G5 XServe from a very reputable refurb outfit. The thing came with the unlimited client license and only cost 2200.00. I have the one server doing everything right now (web services, email, firewall, AFP etc) and it is more than adequate. Noisy, but hey! It is a very nice unit and is obviously designed for speed. I found two LaCie 500GB FW800 drives for cheap and those are my raid.
The nice thing about doing it the way you want with starting "from scratch" is that you can add more storage as you need it, and storage costs are always dropping. Once you have a "proof of concept" system that is actually functioning and fulfilling your needs, I have found that the banker loosens his wallet a tad when you ask to bolster (aka spend big bucks on) your technology spending.
You should be fine, and you have discovered the cheapest and best Mac resource around-these discussion boards.
    Good Luck!

  • Reloading swf for flash site

    Hello,
I am using an old version of flash (Flash 5 because im too
poor to buy the new one)
I have created a flash based web-site that uses load-movie
    for each page.
My problem occures with updated material. After I update a
page (the swf file) and upload it, and then try to view it, the new
information is not displayed. (the old page is still shown)
Are the SWF files stuck in the cache or something like that?
Is there a solution to this problem?
    Please help!!
    Thank you.

    I use FireFox.
I have done some looking around and have found that this is a
common problem with flash sites. There seem to be many ways to
prevent the browser from saving the swf in its cache.
A few such ways are listed here

    Cache for SWF Files

  • Can I install coldfusion server NOT for all sites?

Tried searching on this, but didn't find any previous discussions:
Trying to install coldfusion server to an existing server running IIS7. I do NOT want coldfusion to run on all websites, only on one specific website. When I get to the point in the coldfusion server installation process where it asks me for the server type, and I tell it IIS, the drop down to choose the websites for coldfusion only has "all" as an option, which I do not want.
Is there some way to install it only to a specific site, and have it NOT install to my other sites?

Usually, the connector will list the sites you have defined. Perhaps you're using CF 9.0 without having installed the IIS 6 compatibility layer? If you upgrade to CF 9.0.1, the connector doesn't require this layer.

  • Server Sizing for Flash Interactive Media 3

    Hello,
I can't get anyone in sales to answer this question. Specs
say any Windows 2003 32bit OS and recommends 4MB RAM. But I would
like to put a powerful server dedicated to this function but don't
know if this software is capable of Hyperthreading. I can have one
or come CPU's all with multiple cores. Likewise I could install
Windows 2003 Enterprise Server and put in a lot more memory.
Obviously I don't want to throw money into processors,
Enterprise OS or more RAM if this software won't take advantage of
    it.
    Any help?
    Thank you?
    Text

Okay here is an answer to my own post based upon what I've
    learned.
A single License of FIM3 will handle up to (2) physical
processors limited to Dual Core. You cannot use (2) CPU's with Quad
Core processors, this would require an additional server license on
    the same physical server.
FIM3 was also designed to minimize memory use. 4GB is
recommended but 8GB RAM is preferred. The later of course will
require an upgrade to Windows 2003 OS Enterprise Version.
My configuration below on a single server will handle
streaming up to 1000 concurrent users with no problem.
    Dell 2950 2U rack mount
    (2) Dual Core Intel Xeon 3.0's with 4MB cache each. 1333Mhz
    Buss.
Windows 2003 Server, Enterprise Version, 32bit.
    8GB DDR2 ECC Fully buffered RAM, 677Mhz.
    (4) 300GB 15k SAS hard drives in RAID 10 configuration (600GB
    effective use).
Hope this helps all who search for server specs.

links to [email protected] or post them in this forum. This
project needs to be completed by 12/31/06.

    Hi Hugh
Rather than attempting to find those files, I suggest you lock the Shared Object folder. This precludes any Flash cookie info from being written to your HD.
To do so, go to the Finder and navigate to the Macromedia folder - Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. Continue drilling down to the Shared Objects folder. Now, simply move to the trash the contents of the Shared Objects folder. Once the folder is empty, click on the Shared Objects folder, Command/I to open its Info panel and click on the Locked option, then close the panel.
From here on out, no information will be written to that file. I did this awhile ago and have not had any adverse effect from locking the folder.

  • How do I get the Flash site to work on the server

    Hi,
I'm a beginner working with Studio 8. I have the Flash site
working as desired from my desktop, but I have issues once loaded
to the server. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right
    direction.
Firstly, I would like the site to work within a non-sizeable
browser window. I am not sure how to do this.
Secondly, when I try to visit the uploaded site, it appears
not to load properly. I see an isolated movie clip loaded on the
screen, but my pre-loader never displays, and there is no animation
    at all.
I am not sure where to start looking, but if you do, please
share - grateful, I will be.
    -Brian

ok - here is an update.
For reasons unknow to me, the Flash site works on my pc now
that I re-published the html. Unfortunately, everyone else that I
ask to visit have to refresh their browser before they see it
    animate and work.
    *sigh*

  • Remote Server Admin not working from outside of network for 1 server

Our company recently changed ISPs and I had to change our two 10.4 server's IP addresses. We have a mail server (intel xserve) and a file/web server (quicksilver g4). Both servers have two network cards in them. The problem is two-fold:
1- I can successfully manage the Xserve machine locally on our network and from my home. However, I can only manage the Quicksilver g4 server locally. Any kind of external access is not even acknowledged.
2- I'm not sure if I missed any steps when changing IP addresses for these server-based computers. Also, I'm not sure if I correctly set our dns names to the correct IP address.
For some background, this is the exact IP update process I used for each server:
Quicksilver G4 (file/web server) - Installed network card #2 and configured it with the new Public IP in the "System Preferences/Network" panel. In Server Admin I set our website to use the new public IP address. (network card #2 has no firewall device in between it and the internet.)
Then, I configured the default network card #1 to a static, yet private IP address that's behind our DLink firewall device with the rest of our network.
Intel Xserve (e-mail server) - Network card #1 was the only one setup before our network change. It had a static, public IP address. When we changed ISPs, I configured network card #2 to the new static, public IP address supplied to us by the new ISP in the "System Preferences/Network" panel. This new IP address is where all email traffic currently gets pointed to. (All mail is successfully sent and delivered.) Until our former ISP gets shutdown, I still have network card #1 configured to the older static public IP address. After the old ISP is shut off, I plan on changing network card #1 to a static, private address.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

What should I check in AD?  I am by no means an expert with AD.
Yes, I am using the same client OS.
I am talking about RDP over the internet, like from home to the office.  We have a static IP assigned to the router from ISP.  A static internal IP assigned to the server on the LAN.  And the router port forwards 3389 to the assigned IP.
It was working fine before we reinstalled Server 2012.  These are the steps I took when reinstalling:
    1. format drive and install OS
    2. rename the server
    3. install SQL server
    4. Install TFS and SharePoint
    5. Add Active Directory role and promote to Domain Controller
    6. Add domain users
    7. Enable remote access on the server and add users to remote access list

  • Server settings for remote Server in Flash Builder 4.5 Premium

Has anyone figured this out? Seems like everyone is talking about FlashBuilder that comes with PHP and that doesn't help me. So I'm still having trouble moving my mobile app to a remote server and I have FlashBuilder 4.5 Premium without PHP.
I have created a PHP project outside of Flash Builder and then I have connected to it using the Data/Service tab, but then it ask for the server information and that is where I'm having the issues.
It works create with the setting like this.
    MAC:
    Server Options
    Web Root: /Applications/MAMP/htdocs
    Root URL: http://localhost/
But when you try to export a release build or just like to test it, and insert your server settings.
    Server Options
    Web Root: /home/username/domain_name/
    Root URL: http://mydomain.com
It doesn't Validate which in turn won't let the project work. Also it would be nice to put the remote server in there for testing instead of just for release builds. Any one have an answer. Every tutorial or explanation shows localhost.
    thanks

    Hello guys,
    I have found a solution: In ZendFramework/library/Zend/Amf/Response/Http.php  linenumber 59:
    $ssl = $_SERVER['HTTPS']; is given an error.
    I did this:
    $_SERVER['HTTPS'] = 'off';
    $ssl = $_SERVER['HTTPS'];
    So add this line....
    And it works...
Hope it works for you too.

  • Sites for Flash tutorials?

I'm looking for a site with really good, up to date Flash tutorials. I have a membership to Lynda, but I'm looking more for short tutorials on things like text effects and feature focused tutorials. Something like the Tuts+ sites, which I believe use to have a site for flash tutorials, would be ideal. I searched the Adobe forums, but the last relavent post was in 2009. THANKS!!!

http://www.gotoandlearn.com is a good site for tutorials but, you should just lean to use a search engine like google to find tutorials that appeal to you.
