Adapters & non-Oracle Application Servers

Hi:
I am helping a customer evaluate BPM products and I am leaning strongly in favor of Oracle BPEL. In reviewing the Developer's Guide, all mentions of the various adapters are named Oracle Application Server Adapter for XXXXXXX . This implies that these adapters are built specifically for the Oracle Application Server environment. Is this true for the version of Oracle BPEL for JBoss and WebLogic. Have the adapters been ported to work in those environments, or were they written to be independent of application server?
Thanks. The adapters are a significant value add for the product.
Johnny Lee

I agree that they "connect to the BPEL server" and, of course, you would expect them to connect to it in any of its supported environments. What I don't know is if any of the adapters are dependent on application server support that is specific to Oracles AS.
Anybody know?
Johnny Lee

  • Reports 9i and non-oracle application servers

Does Oracle Reports 9i run on any other application servers other than Oracle 9iAS?????

    hello,
Oracle9iAS Reports Services are shipped as part of Oracle9i Application Server. However, the components of Oracle9i Reports are based on common standards (J2EE Servlet, JSP) and should therefore usable with other application servers.
At this point, we provide neither instructions nor support for application servers other than Oracle9i Application Server. Problems will have to reproduce on an Oracle9i Application Server configuration in order to get support.

  • Very very urgent Discoverer reports for non oracle applications

    Hi,
My client is using discoverer 10g with R12.He is using different non oracle applications like BRM Application (database is oracle only) for that they wants to develop discoverer reports. It is possible to integrate with non oracle applications with discoverer.
Can you please suggest me.It is very very urgent.
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi
You're really not supposed to manage a non-Apps mode EUL and an Apps mode data within the same URL. Having said that, I have a hunch you just might be able to do it and there are 2 ways. You can either make the data available to user who login using E-Business Suite credentials or you can make it available to users who have database credentials. The first one is straightforward and you do it just like any other data. Let me give you some hints regarding the second method.
First of all I ahve not personally tried this and you may find that because Discoverer was initially set up in Apps mode that somewhere down the line it will make the suers connect this way. However, the following is worth a try.
I would a new schema in the Oracle E-Business database to manage the link to BRM and create a database link from this user to a user in the BRM database. You will also need to create user accounts within the database for anyone who needs to login and run BRM reports.
Next, I would create views in this new schema pointing at data across the BRM link, thus allowing Discoverer to think these are local objects.
In Discoverer Administrator, you would need to log in to Discoverer using the owner of the EUL - NOT using SYSADMIN or any of the other E-Business Suite accounts. You should log in with the Oracle Applications checkbox unchecked. You can now create new business areas on the BRM data. You should also be able to assign users to Discoverer privileges and users to business areas.
Using the same URL you would have Apps users connect using the E-Business Suite item on the drop-down for logging in and you would have BPM users choose the Business Intelligence Discoverer item.
Let me know how you get on

  • Do we need to buy license to use Toplink in non Oracle application server?

    Hi,
Can Oracle Toplink be used freely without any license required when deploy in non-Oracle internet application server?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

    From the TopLink FAQ: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/technical/tl10g_faq.htm#WhatDoesTopLinkCost
"Under the OTN license, TopLink is free to download for evaluation and use during development. A production license is included with all editions of OracleAS or can be licensed separately for $5K per CPU."
Your situation would require a separate license.

  • Low Cost Load Balancer / Reverse Proxy for 2 Oracle Application Servers

If you have 2 OAS and you need to setup a load balancer / reverse proxy infront of it and you can't use webcache or a hardware load balancer what's the best way to setup a low cost solution that would preserve your session state if you have a OC4J clustered application running on the MT?

    Just a quick answer, please:
If you think about Oracle WebCache as a general application, you will find some useful Technical White Papers on http://otn.oracle.com/clusterware They will explain, how Oracle Clusterware can be used to protect any kind of application.
In general, Oracle Clusterware and Oracle WebCache must be installed on the same set of servers (cluster nodes) in this case. Regarding the question of whether or not you can re-use your 2 SUN servers: It depends.
Oracle Clusterware requires shared storage and a private interconnect. Your current infrastructure might need to be reviewed and enhanced in those regards, especially, since your servers are geographically separated as you said.
    Just some ideas. Thanks.

  • Is it possible to deploy Oracle forms in a different non Oracle Mid Tier

    Hi guys,
This is just a learning question, and for better understanding purposes.
Is it possible for us to deploy Oracle fmb's into non-Oracle Middle tiers and make them running. I am aware that forms are Oracle developed products and are product dependent and runs when deployed on Oracle Application Servers or Weblogic Servers but still has any one managed or is aware to make them run on Non-Oracle Mid Tiers . Please clarify is it possible in any means to transfer these fmb files to non-Oracle product and make them run.
In addition to that, please share your knowledge is it the same to .rdf as well.
Your contribution is appreciated in advance. Please provide supporting links or any if you have.
    Thanks,

It is not possible. The Forms runtime is a C Process; that runtime, that interprets FMX files, only exists in Oracle Application Server, so you need to have OAS or Weblogic to run Forms.

  • Discoverer viewer without oracle application server

    Hi,
has anybody heard, how to use the discoverer viewer with
    another application server (than oracle).
since j2ee is a standard there schould be a way.
our administrators will not look after another
application server, just to get some reports.
so i have to get it running on a non-oracle-application server (or worst case: choose another reporting tool)
    thanks,
    Udo

Discoverer is available and ships as a component of Oracle Application Server. Oracle Application Server via Oracle HTTP Server provides a proxy capability to support other web servers such as Netscape iPlanet and Microsoft IIS. The proxy capability will enable client applications to directly route requests to their native web server and these then get routed to Oracle Application Server and the Oracle HTTP Server. For detailed information on support for these web servers please refer to Oracle Application Server documentation.

  • Can we upgrade database in parllel with oracle Applcation servers

    Hi
I am upgrading oracle application from 12.0.4 to 12.1.1 & then to 12.1.3.
My current version of database is 10.2.0.4. I also have a plan to upgrade my database to 11g release 2
    Can anyone clarify me,
Is upgrading database from 10.2.0.4 to 11g release2 in parllel with upgradation of oracle application servers 10.1.3 and 10.1.2 possable?
As I could see that none of the patch sets of 10.1.3 have dependencies with database
I haven't checked if it has any dependencies with database while upgrading Application server 10.1.2
Please suggest me pro's & con's in doing both the upgrades in parlled
    Thanks in advance

  • Oracle Application Single Sign-On

    Dear All,
We have a requirement that there should be single sign-on for the users to use both the Oracle and non-Oracle Applications. We are using Oracle Application Server 10g at the back end.
How to enable single sign-on. Is there any tool that we need to install.
Pls guide us as we are entirely new to this process.
    Regards,
    Rajani

    Hi,
You need to install and configure Oracle Internet directory and Single Sign On compontents of Oracle Application server 10g in order to have the Single Sign On working with Oracle Applications. After the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure tier installation there is addition integration steps you need to follow to integrate the Single Sign on with Oracle E-business suite. You can use DIP features ( Directory Integration and Provisiotion) to integrate with Third party directory server like Micrososft AD, Sun directory server etc. for Integrating the non oracle based application i think you have to use oracle single sign on API and you need to do bit of coding as well. You can also enble single sign on for database users but this requires advance security option enabled on the Database side and finally you can integrate Single sign on for OS users as well.

  • Start learning Oracle Applications...

    Hi All,
I need some help in getting more knowledge about Oracle Application Servers and About Oracle forms and reports.
I have basic administration knowledge with Oracle 8i 9i and 10g.
But I have no idea about Oracle forms, reports and Oracle Application like HR and Payroll.
I am planning to start to increase my knowledge in the above mentioned topics.
According to my understanding, Now I should be knowing about the Middle Tier that is the place where Oracle application servers run(HTTP, Load balancing etc..)
I guess Oracle forms, reports, application runs on this middle tier.
I need help from experts from how should I proceed from here. and Am I thinking correctly.
Any help with this will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Thanks for reply
Truly speaking I want to learn as Jobs are available in market.
But I am totally new to the versions as you have said.
    T
he Information what I have got from above comments:
Oracle forms current version available is 6i. (application development and deployment)
Oracle Application (HR Payroll Financial) current version available is 11i (oracle aplication implementation)
    question:
I think all of them run on middle tier ie:
Oracle Application server 10g ( which is the latest version)
which can be connected to any version of oracle database (8i 9i or 10g)
    Am I right??

  • Oracle Application Server 10g Disaster Recovery

    Hi all,
This is regarding Disaster Recovery approach for Oracle Application Server 10g. There are two environments Active (DC-PROD) and Stand-By (DR-PROD). Each environment have 2 nodes where OAS Instances are installed in both nodes and each environment has a Virtual Hostname (Virtual IP) used. The 2 nodes hostnames of DC-PROD environment differs from 2 nodes of the other environment DR-PROD.
However the Virtual Hostname is same between two environments.
The env DC-PROD is setup already and is working fine. Now we have to setup DR-PROD env for disaster Recovery purpose. DR-PROD is also setup independently from DC-PROD. Each env has seperate DB servers in RAC mode. We are using EMC SRDF replication technology to do DB replication between DC-PROD and DR-PROD environments.
There is no disk replication between Oracle Application Servers of two environments DC-PROD and DR-PROD. DC-PROD is NOT setup using Oracle AS Guard for some reasons and we are in a situation that DC-PROD should not be touched at all.
So if the Database is replicated from DC-PROD to DR-PROD servers using EMC SRDF replication technology, while bring up OAS Infra services in DR-PROD node, OC4J is failing to come up. After some workarounds, OC4J cameup but we are unable to login to OIDDAS console.
    ssoServer.log shows the following: -
    Mon May 30 11:01:23 IST 2011 [DEBUG] AJPRequestHandler-ApplicationServerThread-8 DatabaseConfigReadergetting partner apps configs: select site_id, site_token, site_name, home_url, success_url, logout_url, encryption_key, encryption_mask_pre, encryption_mask_post, start_date, end_date, administrator_id, administrator_info from wwsso_papp_configuration_inf_t where site_id = '06B9F06C'

    at oracle.security.sso.server.conf.DatabaseConfigReader.getPartnerConfiguration(DatabaseConfigReader.java:143)
Please provide us the inputs to achieve Disaster Recovery for OAS 10g without using Oracle AS Guard.
This is very urgent and your inputs are greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Mahendra.

Another point to add for the environment details. Both DC-PROD and DR-PROD environments does not have connectivity at all. Only the DB connectivity is there for doing DB replication.
EMC SRDF replication technology is a block by block replication i.e., a disk replication. Hope these details are sufficient for environment specifications.

  • How to disable weak ciphers in Oracle Application Server?

    Hello,
we're using Oracle Application Servers 10.1.2.0.2 (production environment) and 10.1.3.1.0 (test environment).
For both servers I get security complaints from our IT-Security department regarding
"SSL Medium Strength Cipher Suites Supported"
I have modified 'ssl.conf' for the apache managed ports, e.g. 443, what worked as expected. But there are still complaints on port 12701 (RMIS), which seems to be managed by the OAS directly.
Can someone please tell me how to configure that?
    with best regards
    Matthias

    Hello Matthis,
I am having the exact same issue. Were you able to find the answer?

  • Web Trends Oracle Applications

Hi, How get information about the use of the applications and portals (web pages) on Oracle Application Servers? for example how many users visit my portal?, Exist some Oracle product that can provide this information?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
The WD Flex Client is initially shipped as part of NW CE 7.1 SP3.  However in this initial release we are limiting the scope of supported applications.  What this means is, only applications created using the Visual Composer (deployed as Web Dynpro applications) will be supported.  This is first to reduce the set of UI Elements and functionality (there is a lot) that the WD Flex Client has to support and to gently ramp up adoption.
In a future release we will support more controls which should make it possible to develop controls in NWDS directly (perhaps with a limitation on certain UI Elements).
    HTH!

  • Grants for non-apps user to view APIs in oracle application module browser

    Hi,
Im trying to make a connection with E-Business Suite using the Oracle Applications Adapter and the Enterprise Service Bus. I follow all the steps for creating the connection pools, connection data sources and connection factories using the standar apps user. After setting up the environment I can drag the oracle applications adapter to a ESB project and choose from all the modules available the especific functionality I want.
The problem comes when I try to use a user different from apps. When I try to set the connection with other user no E-Business Suite modules are display in the Adapter wizard.
Are there any specific privileges I should set up to this database user (non-apps) to give him acces to API, XML Gateways, Tables/views,Business Events, etc??.

Could you let me know the procedure/steps to assign privileges and/or responsibilities for new oracle apps userI understand this is for an application user.
when I am trying to import a journalAgain, you have to run this as an application user.
Same import is working fine with default Oracle applications 11i "APPS" user.APPS is a database user (NOT an application user). So, the Application user you want to create and assign him responsibilities has nothing to do with the database user. If you assign the same responsibilities which the other user has (the one which you use to import journals) to the new application user, then you should be able to do the task successfully.
