Add a new printer to hp solutions center

I have added an new printer ( HP PSC1410) to my computer since my other one quit working (HP office jet 6500 E709a series). I cannot get hp solutions center to recognize the new printer. The printer has been added in the control panel and is now the default but solutions center won't recognize it.

Hi there,
If you are no longer using the Officejet 6500, I would suggest uninstalling it.  You will then need to install the software driver for the PSC 1410.  By uninstalling the 6500, the software for the PSC 1410 and the Officejet 6500 will not be in conflict.  You can uninstall the 6500 by following the instructions located here.
Once you have uninstalled the Officejet 6500, then you will need to install the PSC 1410 by downloading the driver.  You can do that by going to your product support page on  the HP Customer Care website.  The PSC 1410 product support page is here. Once you are there, do the following:
1.Click on Drivers.
2.  Your operating system should automatically be detected and display in the dropdown list under 'Select or confirm your operating system and click Next.'  If it's not, select your Operating System from the list and click on the blue Next button.
3.  Scroll down on the page and click on the + sign next to Driver - Product Installation Software.
4.  Click on the blue Download button next to the download that says something like 'HP Deskjet and Officejet Full Feature Software and Drivers'.  You want the FULL driver - this is important if you want the Solution Center software.
5.  Follow the instructions from there.
Let me know how that goes...
Thanks!
Tara

Just a few questions to start out:
Have you tried to Repair Permissions with Disk Utilities found in /Applications/Utilities?

Were these printers already working with your system?

  • I cannot sign into iCloud on my iMac.  I have read all of the help information, but that isn't working.  I cannot do anything with my system preferences - like add a new printer - because it won't log me in, sign me out, forget password doesn't work, etc.

I have been unable to log in to iCloud on my iMac.  None of the hints online have worked.  I can't sign in (with any password), sign out, the forget password doesn't work, the support button doesn't work.  It's locked.  I can't find anyway to fix this - I need to add a new printer ASAP - help!!!

The "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" window popped up a couple of weeks ago and is asking for my Apple ID password, which it will not accept,  It won't sign me out (I am not logged in), the support or forgot password buttons won't work.  With this window stuck open, I cannot access anything on system preferences.  I can't find any way to make it go away.  I have tried both my current and old Apple ID passwords, tried using FaceTime to login with the newer password, etc.

  • Add a new printer to my MAC

    Hello Macs,
I need to add a new printer so that I can use it on my MB. It is an HP 5250 all in one. It is hooked up to a PC running Windows XP. The printer is on my home network, and is setup to be shared.
However, my MB does not "see" it in the printer preference plane. I'm thinking maybe I don't have the driver installed on my MB. The printer is at my Parents house, so I'd like to print stuff at their place. But we don't have any of the discs for setup.
I have an HP 930 setup just fine at my house. I have no problems with it, and it too, is ran through a PC running Win XP.
So why can't I use the printer at Mom's house????
How do I add their HP 5250 to my printer list????
Thanks everyone in advance, for your help, CHRIS

    Hi,
I would suggest you to uninstall Adobe Reader using the cleaner tool and then re-install the latest version.
Adobe Cleaner Tool:- Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs.
Latest version of Adobe Reader:- http://get.adobe.com/reader/
If you still experience the same issue, please share the following information:-
    - Screenshot of Adobe Reader showing printer options
    - Screenshot of Microsoft Word showing printer options
    - Screenshot of control panel- Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers

  • Unable to add a new printer in 10.5.7 - dialog box "quits"

Every time I try to add a new printer via System Preferences-->Print&Fax, the dialog box showing available printers briefly opens, and then quits. As a result, I am currently unable to add any new printers.
    Help?? Thank you...

If you open Console (Applications > Utilities) and look at Console Messages you may see a reference to the Add Printer starting and stopping. This may give some clues as to the cause.
Still in Console, if you expand /Library/Logs and then expand Crash Reporter, there may be an entry for the Add Printer app.
If none of that is any help, then you could download the 10.5.7 Combo updater and ran that. If you updated to 10.5.7 using Software Update, then the Combo updater can sometimes repair files that were damaged by the sequential update.
You could also get a copy of Print Therapy from fixamacsoftware. This utility can help resolve printing system issues.

  • Standard TCP/IP Port missing from drop down "Create a new port and add a new printer"

Somehow someone was on my print server and made some changes or added some software.  I found that the "HP Universal Print Monitor" was my only other choice besides Local Port when I went to add a new printer on my 2012 print server
"Standard TCP/IP Port" was gone.  I ended removing this from the registry (see below) as I could not find any other way to uninstall it.  After this was removed I did reboot and I can still add a normal Standard TCP/IP Port under print
management in the ports section but this option is gone in the drop down when you add a printer under printers.
Any idea how to get this option back into the drop down list?
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\Print\MONITORS\HP Universal Print Monitor

I followed these instructions and everything is correct and still do not have the tcp/ip option
Restore missing Standard TCP/IP Port type for Printer
    Filed under:
    Tips n Tricks — Rahul Patel @ 5:01 pm
If the TCP/IP port option is missing you need to re-add it.
First, make sure that the following files are in C:\Windows\System32\:
    tcpmib.dll
    tcpmon.dll
    tcpmon.ini
    tcpmonui.dll
If they are missing, you will need to copy them there from either the i386 directory (if you have one) or from the original install CD.
Then, copy the following lines to NOTEPAD and save the file to your desktop as “printer.reg”
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
          [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\Standard TCP/IP Port]
          “Driver”=”tcpmon.dll”
          [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\Standard TCP/IP Port\Ports]
    “LprAckTimeout”=dword:000000b4
    “StatusUpdateInterval”=dword:0000000a
    “StatusUpdateEnabled”=dword:00000001
Once it’s saved to your desktop, double-click printer.reg and say “OK” to the warning that you will be adding the keys to your registry.
Reboot the Server and the TCP/IP port option should be back.

  • How do I add a second hp printer to HP solution center

I am currently showing my older Desk jet HP 6380 printer in the HP solution center software as it should and it works fine. I have now added a HP Desk Jet  3052A printer to my office. Both printers are set up for wireless connection, both are 3 in one, and both printers work fine. I like using the HP solution center program to manage my printing / scanning. I want to add the new 3052A printer / scanner to the solution center so that I can switch between printers. How do I get both printers to show in the Solution Center software or can I?
    running Vista O/S
    Thanks
    Maxter

Hey Maxter. To do this you need to add a device from the software installation. Here is how you can do that:
If you do not have the downloaded software, you can find the setup source located within the HP Folder:
    Open Computer.
    Enter Drive C
Enter Program Files folder (If you have a 64 bit OS, enter Program Files (x86))
    Enter HP folder
    Enter Digital Imaging folder
You will see a random folder containing the installation source, you can recognize the folder by it's long name (the folder name should have a similar structure as {17016DA1-F040-4032-BD36-34DD317BC9D5})
Run Setup.exe and select Add a Device.
Let me know if this helped at all.
    Thanks!

  • SOLUTION: Get Win 7 Printer Drivers/HP Solution Center to Work on Windows 8

Took me some time to figure it out, but I got it to work.
    First of all, the preliminaries:
I have an HP dv9700t laptop running the 64-bit version of Windows 8 Pro RTM (not the preview, but I assume it will work on Preview as well).  My printer is an HP Photosmart C7280.  If you have a different printer, it is possible that something similar to how I solved my problem will help you, especially by running your installation files in Windows 7 Compatibility Mode.
Windows 8 does come with stock C7280 printer drivers that work by going into Control Panel>Devices and Printers>Add A Printer, but there's only limited functionality with those.  As such, I wanted to run the HP installation files to have increased functionality.
Unfortunately, when I ran the full installation file from HP for my printer, there was no "Install a Printer" button, or any of the other usual buttons.  There was only an "Exit" button.
Here's how to get it to run and install properly.
Right-click on the HP Full Installation file, then Properties>Compatibility>then check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", then select "Windows 7" in the dropdown box, then Click "OK".
Run the installation file as you normally would in Windows 7.
I tried this two ways.....the first while connected via USB cable.  It worked just fine with no errors.
I also tried it with the printer connected to my network via WiFi.  Ran into some problems.
The installation program would detect my printer just fine, and I clicked "Next" or "OK" or whatever the prompt was to install the printer.  The installation would hang on "Reply from SNMP" (or something similar) and it would list the IP address of my printer.  I waited, waited, waited for an hour, and it wouldn't get past this.  Not to worry.
Proceed with normal installation until you get to the "Reply from SNMP" message and the installation stops responding.
Enter the Task Manager with CTRL-ALT-DEL.  You'll see an entry in the "Apps" for the HP installation program....LEAVE THIS ALONE.
Below the "Apps" list you will see the "Background Processes" list.  In this list is something along the lines of "HP Network UI", or something similar, consuming a significant amount of CPU.  Highlight this entry, then click, "End Task" at the bottom.
The "SNMP" window will close and your installation program will then finish normally and your printer/fax/scanner will be properly installed.  HP Solution Center works normally, as does printing, scanning, etc.
Will the next person who uses this give some feedback and also answer some questions for me so I can update this post with more specific information?
Please let me know what the exact "SNMP" message is when the installation hangs.  Please also let me know the exact name of the "HP Network UI" background process is, as well as the HP Installation app name.
    Hopefully this will help you.
    This question was solved.

thanks for the solution. I have an HP Photosmart D110a wireless printer. Windows 8 installed a generic printer driver that worked fine for printing but I lost all functionality to the scanner of the device.
I tried to follow your instructions. I do get an error at some point when the software installer tries to talk to the printer and it gives an error message. It finds the printer OK but stalls. The error message is different and merely reports that there is a problem, no further details. There is indeed a background task "HP Network UI" or similar but ending this task doesn't do anything on my system. The Network UI task ends and the error message stays open. I ended a couple more background tasks but it would not go anywhere.
I then uninstalled the entire package, unplugged the printer, turned its wireless feature off and reinstalled the software in Windows 7 compatibility mode. When it asked to plug in the printer to the USB it finds it right away, the installation continues and is almost finished when it stalls again. This time it reports that it has a problem again and needs to uninstall. Still with the error message and installer open I open the installed "Solution Center" and I can find the printer fine (it actually lists two devices, one being grayed out). It initially gave me an error message when I tried to scan something, but ignored the error. Eventually the scanner worked as intended. I force ended all installer tasks in the task manager and the Solution Center works fine and does all tasks it did under Windows 7, now in Windows 8.
    thanks again for the post

  • How to add a new printer and laptop to my home network

Greetings, Need tech help. I have 2 issues going on.
First I am trying to add a 2nd Printer to my home network. I was given an HP 4050N printer. I want to add it to my home network. My main printer is an HP Photosmart 8450. It is attached to my desktop thro a Belkin USB 4 port switch and then to my Desktop PC via a USB port.  THe HP 4050N has both parrallel and serial connectors...no USB ports.  WHat is the recommended method to hook up. I also have an actiontec wireless router.  Initially I had 2 separate desktop units talking to my main printer, but noe the second desktop has it's own printer.
Second, I recently acquired an HP Elite Book 2540P laptop. I got it to power make my SOlidworks and Autocad software portable.  I would like to add this to my home network but dont know if wireless of serial hookup is the best way to go.
I hope this makes sense.  I am open to reconfiguring everything if it makes sense.  My internet and TV are driven through the Action-tec router.
    I would appreciate some guidance.

  • I do not have Windows Tool bar featured and need to add a new printer to Firefox. How do I do it?

When I access another web server, there is a tool bar on top "File, and with other functions. I do not have this tool bar with Firefox. I bought a new printer, I need to conect to Firefox in order to print.
How do I have the bar and conect the printer

    Hi pastore27-
You should be able to print documents from webpages using Firefox. The print button should display by default. However, it is possible it was removed during an upgrade or due to custom preferences. The way to fix it:
    # Firefox > View > toolbars > customize
    # Select the printer icon and drag it to your browser window
I also found a Support article on restoring toolbars, as you said the toolbar was missing:
[[Back and forward or other toolbar items are missing]]
    I hope that helps!

  • Can't add a new printer UF II

    Hi,
We've a new Canon printer through the network and I'm trying to install it following the manual steps (install UFR II ... add printer.... more printers... selected Canon IP (UFR II).... added direction (valid and complete)) but then, when I click add, nothing happens, I can't add the printer!!
    Any hints?
    Thanks in advance, regards, Jackie.

    Hi Jackie,
In reading your reply I would guess that the person who blocked the IP address has most likely done something that is stopping your access to the printer. To see if you have access to the Canon, you can open Network Utility and select the Ping tab. If you then input the IP address of the Canon, set the Pings to 4 and then press Ping, you will get a response if your Mac can connect or no response if there is no path from your Mac to the printer.
If you get a response then the next thing to check is the port configuration you have used to connect to the Canon. The UFR2 driver only supports Line Printer Daemon-LPD or HP Jetdirect-Socket. If you used IPP then this would explain your issue. If you did use Socket or LPD, then it is possible that the port can be disabled on the Canon. If you could print a Network User Data list from the Canon then you could see if these ports (LPD and RAW) are enabled. If you cannot access these settings in the Canon, you could look at one of the other computers that is printing. Here you could check what port configuration they are using. If you need help with how to check the port setting then please reply.

  • Trying to add a new printer!

I was given an HP deskjet 2050 as a present. It is used and doesn't have the original cds with it. I went on HP's website and downloaded the mac compatible drivers and software. The printer is not recognized under my printers in system preferences. When I click "add" it pops up and I click "add" again. Then it tells me that it is searching for software from apple. After several minutes it asks me if I want to download the items. Several minutes later a message pops up saying " software is unavailable at this time." or "And error has occured in the process of downloading." I have received both messages the times I have tried to download. Please help!!

This is the last HP posted driver and firmware update - Mac OS X 10.7 downloads for HP LaserJet P2055d Printer.

  • Printer communication error and cannot add a new printer

I was happily using my Epson Artisan 810 printer this morning, connected wirelessly to my iMac.  All of a sudden I cannot print, get "Communication Error".  Checked Epson's website, no luck there.  Re-checked my wireless settings on the printer itself and re-confirmed them, it will print test pages from the printer, but still not communicating with the iMac.  I thought that removing the printer and then adding it back in might help, but now I cannot add any printer at all.
I resorted to my MacBook Pro, and now have the same problem with this as well.
Any ideas please?  What else can I check.  My internet and so on are fine.  The printer itself shows the wireless icon and says the reception is excellent on the printout it produced.
    Thanks so much!
    L.

It would be unusual for only Bonjour to stop working in the printer. The more likely is that the printer is set to a different network subnet to that for your Mac or, as you mentioned, something like a firewall is blocking it.
The IP addressing is the most common cause. If there is a process to view or print the network settings for the Epson, then this will show what IP address range it has, which should be the same as your Mac. With the IP address, there will be four sets of numbers. For a typical home network, the first three sets are known as the IP subnet, while the last set is the network address. For example, a device with an IP address of 10.0.1.5, has an IP subnet of 10.0.1 and a network address of 5. For your Mac to 'see' the printer, both devices would need the same IP subnet, while having a different network address. So if you can check what IP address the Epson has, you may find it is using a different IP subnet to your Mac.
