  • Alt Text on Photoshop Button

    Hi guys,
    Does anyone know if there a work around / cheat that allows you to set 'Alt Text' on a placed Photoshop Button in Muse?
    Thanks heaps,

    That won't work I'm afraid, the Alternative Text needs to be associated with the placed Photoshop button object itself for accessibility purposes.
    E.g. for images you can add Alt Text quite easily by editing the Image Properties in Muse. However for a Placed Photoshop Button, these properties don't seem to be available. So I'm looking for a work-around (other than having to do this manually).
    If I check the generated HTML for a page containing a Photoshop Button, I can see:
    <div class="preload_images">
    <img class="preload" alt="" src="images/photoshopbutton-u614-r-fr.jpg"></img>
    <img class="preload" alt="" src="images/photoshopbutton-u614-m-fr.jpg"></img>
    </div>
    and there is an empty 'alt' attribute in the img-element. However, I don't see how within Muse you can populate this alt attribute

  • How do I add alt text to images set as background in my asset list?

    I have designed a site in Muse but for some reason all the images are set as background images in the asset list and I can't optimise them for seo as I can't add alt text.
    How can I change this??
    Thanks

    I know I can't add alt tags to background images hence my question - how do I change them from background images - I was unaware you could assign an image as a background in the first place!
    To my knowledge I haven't intentionally set any of the images as background images.
    I need to change them from background images to 'normal' images.
    Thanks

  • Remove underscore from buttons, add Alt text

    Hi,
    Thanks in advance for your help. I am having more problems with the RH's Govt template. The forward and back buttons would not appear, so I have created my own buttons and incorporated into my user guide. However, there is an underscore appearing in between my buttons (it's not on my images). If I remove this underscore from the Topic (default) page of the template, it removes one of my buttons. My developer can't figure this one out either.
    Also, when I add the Alt text into the HTML code, it does not appear when I generate the file. Here's where I am with this now:
    RH's Back/next does not work, so I went into the Layout and added my own buttons, which appear here on the Topic (default) page of the template. What are all the underscores?
    2.  This is the generated User Guide - any attempt to remove this underscore will delete the button on the right.
    3.  This is my coding. You see that I have the Alt text in the coding, however, it does not appear in the generated user guide. Also, I don't see anything resembling an underscore in the coding.

    William,
    Thanks for your response. My developer and I incorporated the above into the HTML source code and it removed the right arrow button. Any time we make a change to this particular section of code, it deletes the right arrow button. Sheesh. The only workaround was to do all code editing in Notepad and then paste it back into RH again. We have to do this every time. It's annoying. So having done this in Notepad, the underscore is gone, but the Alt tags still don't appear.
    This is where we are now with the code:
    <td><a href="javascript:history.go(-1)" style="text-decoration:none;"> <img src="BSBack.png" alt="Back"
          style="visibility: visible;"
          width="60" height="31"
          border="0" /> </a><?rh-msp-bs-back-start
           id="browseSeqBack" widgettype="browsesequence"
           class="wBSBackButton" ?>
          <a href="javascript:history.go(+1)"> <img src="BSNext.png" alt="Forward"
          style="visibility: visible;"
          width="60" height="31"
          border="0" /> </a><?rh-msp-bs-back-start
           id="browseSeqNext" widgettype="browsesequence"
           class="wBSBackButton" ?></td>
    Also, this has caused a new problem: when I save (generate) this to the server and test it , every time I click on a different topic, 'Show' flashes on and off on the screen and the arrow buttons shift right, then back left. Now, we initially moved the arrows to a different location in the Theme2_Government template. Does that have anything to do with this goofy flashing and movement?
    Thanks again,
    Pam

  • How to add edited text from photoshop to dreamweaver

    I edited text in photoshop to make it look nice and sparkly. I am trying to put it in a flash site but do not understand how. the context file only allows you to choose the color and type of font but nothing more such as drop shadows and such. when i go to edit the context code for the flash site what would the code for edited text in photoshop look like in dreamweaver context editor?

    I am not sure I understand? There is no Photoshop code?
    You would take the image you created in Photoshop and place it into your Dreamweaver document. Correct me if I don't understand what you are trying to do.

  • Alt Text, tooltip, metadata & keywords.

    I own a photographic stuido so our (3) sites are image driven with anywhere from 50 - 300 + images per site. I have been manualy entering Alt text and tool tips for the purpose of raising search visibility however with that many images/graphics it is way too time consuming. If there were a "fill all" option that would be great. Then I could go in and change a few words around in each image and not have to type everything over 200 times. Is that possible. Cut and paste is a step up but still tedious.

  • Adding alt text tags in InDesign (and Acrobat Pro)

    I am having real difficulty adding alternative text tags. I created an INDD doc with rollover buttons linked to URLs firstly in InDesign CS4. I couldn't add alt text tags in CS4 so I then tried to add them in Acrobat X Pro but failed. Acrobat keeps wanting to class the PDF as a form. I then installed InDesign CS6 from the cloud and added alt text to the rollover buttons via object export options. However, these do not show when I export to PDF.
    Can someone help me add alt text to my rollover buttons in my interactive PDF either in InDesign CS6 or in Acrobat Pro after I export it?

    In InDesign CS6, you just need to add descriptions to buttons. This is done in the buttons and forms panel:
    This is the alt text in Acrobat when you roll over the button:

  • Menu alt text - editable?

    I've made a manual menu for one of the pages I've set up in Muse.  Somehow, I set one of the buttons to have alt text - a text message that pops up when you hold the mouse pointer over the button.  (The same that you can do for images  using the alt="text" code)  So I know it's possible to set menu buttons to have pop up alt text.  But the other buttons I set up don't have it.  Nor can I change the alt-text on the button that does have it.
    Does anyone know where that is done?  Can it be done?
    By the same token, I created a rectangle and used an image as the fill - but I can't set up alt-text for that either.
    Any help is appreciated -
    Thanks in advance
    The site is here:  http://home.comcast.net/~gregfisk/resume.html
    The button at the bottom has pop up text.  None of the others do, and I'd like to be able to set that up.

    You could probably use find/change to add the space.
    I'd try the followng GREP:
    \.(?![\d\s[:punct:]]) which I believe will find the periods not followed by any type of whitespace, a digit, or other punctuation (you might not want to change those elsewhere in the document if your search scope is not narrow enough to limit it to the descriptions, and even then there might be cases that would apply).
    Replace with $0<spacebar>
    For clarity, <spacebar> indicates you should type the space.

  • Alt text accessibility

    Greetings,
    Enjoying Edge Animate quite a bit, but am looking to make it more accessible.
    1. How does one add alt text to images in Edge Animate?
    2. Assuming that images can be given alt text, how does one set up the animation so one can 'tab key' (or give focus) to a given image/button?
    The end goal is to allow the Windows8 screen reader, Narrator, the ability to read the alt text when an img/button is tabbed to.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Elaine,
    Thank you so much for your quick reply and for pointing out the Accessibility section. I also found the Alt: input under the Image property, though I had to change my image from 'div' to 'img' in order to enable the Alt: input, makes sense.
    Despite these features, I'm still not having the success I hope to have while using either Win7 or Win8 Narrator/screen reader.
    In the following animation, I have given the top 4 images both titles and alt text, but neither version of Win Narrator can find/read the text.
    I should be able to hit the tab key, tab to one of the images, and have Narrator read the alt text/title, but this is not happening.

  • Adding simple ALT Text to a photo

    Is there some easy way of doing this? I have 30 photos or so
    and I'm supose to add Alt Text to all the pictures, with the
    peoples' names. The photos have a hot spot over them, so the photo
    isn't actaully the button.

    Check the font size in the options bar. If it's really small you won't see it.
    Look in your layer's palette and insure your text is in a layer located above the photo in the stack.
    You might also check your image's resolution in the Image Size dialog. I've seen a couple of posts where someone changes the resolution to 1 with resample turned off...then can't see the text because it's too small even when they have large numbers inserted in the font size box.

  • A Few SEO Questions: Alt="" text and file/folder names.

    I've been reading about the Dark Art of SEO and frankly, a lot of it is more confusing than I anticipated.  Anyway, I'll summarise a bit here.I have read that:
    File/folder names are better with meaningful words and hyphenated words.  so DCM000123.jpg in a folder called galimg would be better as: /gallery-images/painting-title-here.jpg
    Alt="" text can add to the content of your pages.
    My thinking underneath this relates to a gallery site I built with around 200 individual paintings in it.  So the site has a lot of content but not a lot of text.  I wonder if I should start trawling through all of this to change the file names and folders and add alt="" text more meaningfully to help with SEO?
    So if my thinking is OK, here are the questions.
    How would you put the alt="" text on individual images?  I imagine that it should just be a straight-forward, what-you-see description?  But there are a few other options.  Suppose I have an image that the artist has titled, "Cattle on a Hill" and it's an oil on canvas.  I could make that into,
    alt="Oil on Canvas: Cattle on a Hill" or
    alt="Cattle on a Hill" or
    alt="A group of cows grazing in pasture under moonlight." or
    Suppose I have 20 images in a portrait gallery:
    alt="Portrait.  Oil on canvas: Joe Bloggs" or
    alt="Portrait.  Joe Bloggs" or
    alt="Man with grey hair wearing a blue shirt sitting on a bench" or
    alt="Portrait painting.  Oil on canvas. Joe Bloggs: Man with gray hair wearing a blue shirt sitting on a bench"
    The second part of the question also includes the problem that if I have 20 images in a single gallery page and I put "Portrait painting" in each alt="" text is that going to look like key word stuffing?
    Now on to the file name thing.  Should the file names be portrait-painting-01 and so on or should they be Cattle-on-hill or what?
    Final question: am I making too much of all this?
    Thanks
    Martin

    First of all, stay away from spaces in file names AT ALL COST.
    The examples you cited would look like:
    alt="Oil%20on%20Canvas:%20Cattle%20on%20a%20Hill" or
    alt="Cattle%20on%20a%20Hill" or
    alt="A%20group%20of%20cows%20grazing%20in%20pasture%20under%20moonlight."
    to an SE crawler.
    If you really want effective picutres, use Photoshop or Fireworks to embed metadata and THEN add them to your site.
    Alt tags means the text that would appear if the image didn't for some reason. It also helps with accessibility for visually impaired viewers who use plug-ins to allow their browser to "speak" the images to them when the page loads.
    <img src="img/example-1.jpg" width="128" height="160" alt="example-1.jpg" />
    Above is an example of how to add alt text. Dreamweaver actually loads the alt tag automatically unless you've turned it off somehow.
    Either put the info in the Alt box in the properties panel, or in code view, add it between the quotes.
    To the second part of your question, Alt tags are meant for SEO with the images only (Like when you search for images of a certain name or containing certain tags)
    and really have little effect on the page SEO itself. For that type of optimization you want Keywords, and Descriptors in the <head> portion of the
    individual page:
    <meta name="google-site-verification" content="Optimizer code would go here" />
    <meta name="Description" content="Page name, site name, business name, location, phone number, etc. goes here"/>
    <meta name="Keywords" content="Restaurant, Sports bar, Catering, Hotel, Gallery, Car Dealer, Exterminator or whatever describes the site and page as well as content of the pages"/>
    <meta name="author" content="your name here"/>
    <meta name="robots" content="index, follow"/> (This tells search engine crawlers to index this page and each one you add it to,  and follow them site wide)
    <meta name="revisit-after" content="7 days"/> (This tells the crawler when to revisit for updates after it has indexed the site)
    To your last question. No, you're not making too big a deal out of it, if you're talking about exposure for a business. If it's a personal gallery of your favorite vacation pictures? You just might be.

  • Tags, alt text, and PDF accessibility

    I'm thoroughly confused. I just finished the layout for a 176-page book in ID and I'm trying to tag the book for PDF accessibility. I read that it's better to tag in ID before you export to PDF. My problem is, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do or how to do it, and everything I'm reading is confusing me even more. I'm getting nowhere.
    I'm not expecting a full course on this, but can someone please answer a few questions to give me a kick start (I may even ask the wrong questions). 1.) How do you add alt text to graphics in ID, or Acrobat?  2.) How do you add a tag in ID. I mean, I can add a tag but I don't know where or why I'm adding it.  3.) How do you manually tag a file in Acrobat 9 Pro or edit the auto tagging once it's done?
    I'm using the most recent versions of ID and Acrobat Pro, and the most recent version of Mac OSX.
    Thank you.

    I too have been trying to figure this out and have followed the steps
    to add alt text to InDesign before exportign to PDF. I just can't see the alt text in either PDF  or in a browser displaying thee PDF fiel - I  know the tagged text is there because when I open
    the "touch up Reading order" dialog in the
    accesibility tab of Acrobat - the image displays with the appropriate  Alt text. I' checked the accessibility otpion in the browser as well [expand all alt text for images] but I still don't see the alt text when I mouse over teh image - what am I missign here?

  • Adding Alt Text to Images

    Hi
    I would like to add Alt text to a number of images on my site.
    I have been sucessful in achieving this by selecting either the image on the page or in the asset panel, right clicking and then going to Edit Image Properties.
    However I have a number of pages which contain Image compositions  initially created in Ilustrator then saved as flat jpeg or png images inserted using Fill into a Blank Composition Wigit. The images all have triggers on top.
    All of this works well
    However , I seem unable in any way, to by right clicking on the images either on the page in Design mode or by highlighting the file in the Asset panel  to bring up the Edit Image Properties dialogue box for the images (as part of the wigit composition).
    I get a dialogue box by right clicking but one that contains Paste /Select Same /Arrange /Lock etc
    Is it not possible to Add Alt Text to such combined images in a wigit  , Should anyAlt Text be added earlier in the Design , Fill or construction stage
    Any pionters or help would be very welcome
    Thank You

    Hi
    I didn't get any replies to my post, but think I may have been able to resolve my own question.
    I had been using the Fill with Image option to accurately place the images in the Wigit. This process as I mentioned does not seem to allow one to access the Edit Image Properties dialoge properties window by right clicking the image.
    However when I deleted the image as a Fill and use the Place feature to insert the combined image with  the same X-Y co-ordinates (and did a liltte bit of work to get the Wigit triggers to the front) right clicking now seems to allow access the Edit Image Properties
    Success - I think !
    Thanks

  • Adding placeholder text in Photoshop CS4

    Hi,
    Hope this finds you well.
    Does anyone know how to add placeholder text in Photoshop cs4?
    I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing back from you soon.

    There is no built-in function as with InDesign (Photoshop isn't a layout program, after all. If you're setting large amounts of body copy you're using the wrong tool for the job...).
    Locate some placeholder text. Here's one of the many links Google returns:

  • Adding alt text to composition widget images?

    How do I add alt text and image titles for Composition>Blank widgets images? When I control-click the image, the context menu does not include these options.

    I'm not sure how to describe the problem I'm having, so here's a screen shot of my composition widget with images placed (it's a bit sloppy, but I'm running out of patience for fine-tuning until I get this situation figured out).
    After file>placing a thumbnail image in a trigger, I file>placed the corresponding image in its target area. I then clicked on the second trigger, placed the thumbnail. But the second trigger didn't click through to the second target panel, which would have been a grey panel. So I thought I maybe I should just go ahead and place the second target image anyway, but it just sits there on top.  I did this for three images. The first target image placed is on the bottom, then the second, and the third placed target image is on top. So I can't figure out how to click from one target panel to the next to place each image, getting it to correspond with its proper trigger. Does this make any sense yet?
    You can see how they look like they are separate and layered, and when sizing, or moved in any way, they are become ungrouped, rather than as a group such as when I used the fill option. Last, when I click on the trigger thumbnail images, the triggers just aren't activating the target panels at all. I'm at a complete loss on this. I think I've tried everthing, but obviously I'm missing something. Thanks again.
