  • How to add domain name to SharePoint URL so SharePoint used FQDN address?

    Hello,
I have SharePoint sites with fully qualified domain name (FQDN). I have DNS and SharePoint configured to access sites with the FQDN links. I work in an organization with users who have logins in different domains, SharePoint servers are in different domains,
and users who connect to the SharePoint externally. So, the FQDN links used for SharePoint sites works great in getting users connected. However, some users enter sites with no FQDN, i.e http://sharepointsite v.s. http://sharepointsite.domain.com, and some
of the SharePoint features do not work or they may not be able to connect to sites.
The problem is that users have short-cuts or favorites or hyper-links with links that are non-FQDN.
In my alternative access mappings, I have both settings for non-FQDN and FQDN, like http://server  and http://server.domain.com, but this does not help. The public URL zone is the FQDN and the site collection is the FQDN URL.
Is there a way for DNS to add the domain.com automatically to web links, if they don't have them?  Anything I can do differently in SharePoint?
    Paul

I actually posted that question on that site.
In the alternative access mappings, I tried adding a http://site as in Internal URLs in the default zone and SharePoint would not take it.  I tried adding the URL in the intranet zone and SharePoint said it was already
    added.
    So, this did not work.
    DNS settings are:
    Alias (CNAME) = sharepointsite
Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)  = sharepointsite.domain.com
Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) for target host = server.domain.com
When I type in sharepiontsite in IE address bar, it will revert to
http://sharepointsite.domain.com.  So, that is working, but the URL is not converted to a FQDN with a full address, like
    http://sharepointsite/project/default.aspx
I am still stuck. Any other suggestions?

  • Add domain name to radius "request"?

    Hi there.
Is it possible for one to access a clientless portal/Anyconnect VPN, login using only the initials and not the full domain name?
    In a multiple user/domain environment?
    Example:
    test instead of testdomain/test
Can the ASA pass the full name testdomain/test on if the users are identified by a specific portal page/group?(Adding the domain to the radius request)
This is meant to be in a environment with multiple domains, so i need as much seperation as possible(But still easy workflow from the user perspective).
Or how is this done? Thanks.
    Hope you understand my question.

  • BI 7.0 Java Add-in without fully qualified domain name

    Hi
I have just installed the Java Add-in for BI 7.0, and now I am trying to set up BEx to work. I have run the template installer, but there seems to be an issue with server names vs. fully qualified domain names. The server name is currently in the format "server.domain", but I suspect that it should/must be "server.domain.com".
Is it possible to get full functionality without using fully qualified domain names (FQDN)? Is so, how can I acheive this?

  • Add a new directory with hyphen (-) in the domain name

    Dear All,
I'm trying to add a new directory with hyphen (-) in the domain name (default domain *.onmicrosoft.com). As a result I keep getting a validation error: "The domain is not unique". I've tried several
combinations with really awkward words and a hyphen. Such domain names must be unique. I think that the error message is misleading.
Is it a well known behavior? Is it possible to use a hyphen in the domain name?
    Thank you for your help,
    Artem

    Dear Arvind,
Thank you for your effort and time in validating the described behavior.
    According to the
Regexp for subdomain question on SO, 'Each subdomain part may contain hyphens (dashes), but may not begin or end with a hyphen'. That been said, the validation error, on your screenshot is appropriate. On the other hand, the validation error
with a hyphen (dash) in the middle is misleading.
It's not a big deal, since people most likely use a custom DNS name anyway.
    Kind regards,
    Artem

  • Error message when I try to add a domain name

So I bought a domain name from hostgator.com and I got hosting for it but then I changed the the domain name so that I could use the previous domain name I had purchased on a new website. So after I changed the domain on the website that was being hosted on hostgator.com to one I didn't care about, I got the domain name that I wanted and redirected the name servers to these ones:
    ns1.worldsecuresystems.com (54.236.190.129) - primary DNS server
    ns2.worldsecuresystems.com (54.246.209.121) - secondary DNS server
    ns3.worldsecuresystems.com (54.252.148.151)
So after I did that I went to business catalyst and clicked on "launch my site" after that I clicked on "add domain" which was located right below "launch my site" so when I entered the domain name and clicked the "save" button a little window to the right of the screen pops of and reads "Error: domain name already exist. Please delete all records associated with this domain name before re-adding it."  I'm not sure on what to do any help?

There must be some remnants if that domain in BC. In either this site or another site.
STart re by completely removing all DNS settings and try again. Make sure you delete the txt records as well be thorough.
IF that doesn't work log a support ticket with BC and let them know the issues with screenshot. They'll find the site that's been set up with that url and remove it.

  • Add-ons not working after server IP address/domain name change.

    Hello everyone,
We have just changed the IP address of our SAP Business One server and moved it into a new domain.
Although SAP Business One is working as expected, the add-ins created by a third party do not work. Having very little knowledge of SAP I do not understand where the problem could be.
The third party were on-site today and have reinstalled the add-ons but they still do not work.
There is an error message when starting the client that states: Module <Compatability Licensed for Add-ons> Expired on <20080115> but the third party have stated that this isn't a license issue.
Can anyone provide any assistance/advice on what the problem may be?
The possibilities for the problem at the moment are:
    - Invalid license key for add-ons (but why would changing the IP address/domain name cause this issue?)
    - The add-on is coded with the original IP address of the server.
    - There is a permissions problem that has been missed (as users are in a new domain).
    Any advice/suggestions are welcome.
    Many thanks,
    John

I am afraid that the possible cause is the addon is coded with the IP address in their connection method. It could be possible that it is a hardcoded addon.
you must ask the addon developer to change it and do not use the IP address anymore in the addon.

  • Add domain to email account name...

Hey guys. We are running into a problem were we need to add @domain.com to all our users macmail settings.
Instead is there an applescript we can run that only changes the username to simply add @domain.com?
This would be a huge help! Thanks to any info you can provide.

No Thunderbird does not support active sync...
Now can you answer the question. So we can move on to a resolution. Is this an exchange server? If not what mail provider?

  • Change or add a NetBIOS Domain Name

We have a current 2008 R2 level domain, for example example.domain.com and we need to migrate to a 2012 level example.test.com.  Currently example.test.com does not exist.  example.domain.com currently has a netbios name of example.  Is there
a way to get the new domain setup to use the same 'example' for the netbios of example.test.com?  Or is it possible to setup a new domain without a netbios name or to change it at a later date?  The current example.domain.com does have Exchange 2010
on it and we would need Exchange at least 2010 on the new domain.  I've read a lot about having to rename the domain to change the netbios domain name, but I wasn't sure if that is something that could be left blank so that we could setup a netbios name
to 'example' once the older domain is turned off.
To sum up.  We currently have example.domain.com that users log into using example/username and we would like to have example.test.com setup to be logged into using example/username.
Thanks for you help and let me know if any of this is clear or if you need further explanation.

You can create a new domain using the same NetBIOS name as the first one. However, if you do that there will be no way to create a trust relationship with the first domain unless if you rename it. Here, renaming a NetBIOS name is not supported for Exchange
    Server. More details here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc738208(v=ws.10).aspx

  • Add the Hosting Server IP in Domain Name Server of Microsoft

    Hi,
I have purchased a domain (techwhiz.info) and web hosting from
www.net4.in but the email is taken from Microsoft exchange for the same domain so the Domain Name Server is with Microsoft. Now I want to host the site for the same domain and as
www.net4.in hosting provider told to do a entry of Hosting Server IP in DNS then only the website will show the contents. As I don't know how to do this entry so please tell me the steps to do that.
If required anything more please let me know.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Pratik Purohit

I'm having a little trouble with your english, but I think you're trying to do 3 things:
Host email on an Exchange server
    host a website with net4.in
setup DNS so that these things work together
It also sounds like Microsoft is hosting your DNS?  If so, you'd simply create an MX DNS record to point to your Exchange 2010 server, and another DNS record for www.techwiz.info.
You may wish to call the hosting provider(s) of these services for more specific guidance.  Your question is pretty broad.

  • How to add additional email using second domain name?

BC is currently hosting wa-cs.com and we are using email address pointing to that domain. We added wolfeassociates.com domain name to the site and now want to setup emails with that domain name in addition to the wa-cs.com. This should be simple but the option to setup does not appear available.
Is there a solution? Thanks, Greg

    Hi Greg,
When you create an email account on the main domain, and alias will automatically be created on the second domain as well. So, when you create [email protected], the system will automatically create an [email protected]
Email sent to either of the two addresses will end up in the same inbox.

  • Domain name/"primary DNS" name/mail host name/mail server name/mx name

    Hi,
I have registered my domain name (N.com) with an external dns server and created an MX record (mail.N.com) for it as well. My server sits behind a router and internet traffic is port(80)-forwarded to my server's fixed internal ip address (I can access my webpages from the internet just fine). When I initially setup the server I was asked to give it a "primary DNS name." I naturally assumed that N.com was supposed to be entered here, but that just caused all kinds of problems (though I still do not understand why). So I reinstalled and currently have server.N.com as the primary DNS name of the server (although it shows up in Server Admin and Workgroup Manager as server.local--why is that?)
I have had no luck getting any email from the internet with the default settings in mail services (domain name of N.com and host name of server.N.com). Having no luck with the defaults, I assumed that maybe I needed to change the host name to "mail.N.com" so that it matched the MX record. I also changed the user preferences in Workgroup Manager to receive mail from mail.N.com--but still no luck. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong and how come none of the Mail Service literature mentions anything about what a mail "host name" is supposed to be? Is it supposed to be the same as the "Mail Server" name that Workgroup Manager asks each user for? and is it the same as the MX record name?
I am just needing some help to connect all these variously named, but undefined, dots.
Also, how come I can access webmail from the internet using www.N.com/webmail but can't do it from any computers within my physical network (I have to use IPaddress/webmail or server.local/webmail)?
Also, should my user email addresses be [email protected] or [email protected] (which is the current default)?
Thanks in advance and good luck!
    John

I had been told by a friend that ... regular email coming in from the internet would go through port 80
    Unfortunately you were misinformed.
My MX record needs the extra subname (such as "mail") in front of the domain name, right?
Not at all. A MX record for 'N.com' is entirely valid (expected, in fact).
An MX record tells remote mail servers where to send mail for any domain/subdomain. If you think about it, let's say you worked for Apple and you wanted people to be able to send email to [email protected], well then you need an MX record for 'apple.com'.
You can see if you dig MX apple.com that they actually have 9 MX records, but the point still stands.
Now, you might also have MX records for subdomains so that you can have [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc. Each of these subdomains would need a separate MX record.
So, in general, for any set of email addresses @[anything.]domain.com you have a MX record telling remote mail servers where to send that mail.
Of course the MX record name is mail.N.com, but I think you are implying that the in the Mail settings of Server Admin where it asks for domain name all I need to put there is the N.com, right?
What I mean is that you need to set the domain name to whatever domain name you expect to receive mail at.
If you want users to have email addresses in the form of [email protected], then you enter 'N.com'.
If you want users to have email addresses in the form of [email protected] then you enter 'mail.N.com'.
If you want both forms, enter one in the main domain and add the other(s) in the Advanced -> Hosting -> Local Host Aliases section.
Is there anything in the Mail settings that needs to have the full MX record name (mail.N.com)?
Yes. Either the 'domain name' or the 'Local Host Aliases' needs to contain the same thing as your MX record. That's because the MX record tells remote servers to send mail to this machine, but the machine won't accept the mail unless it is configured to do so.
What is the "host name" supposed to be?
This should be the name that remote servers see when this machine tries to send outgoing mail.
Ideally this should match the reverse DNS of your IP address, that way when it connects to a remote server it says "Hi, I'm $hostname" and the remote server can lookup the machine's IP address and see the same result. This will reduce the problem of remote servers thinking you're sending them spam.
If you only have a single IP address then this probably needs to be something like 'N.com'. If you don't have control over your reverse DNS then you're going to run into a problem.
Also in the user accounts (in Workgroup Manager) what should the "mail server name" be? Is it the host name or the domain name?
    Off hand, I don't know.
Also, why are all the default user email addresses [email protected] (the name I gave the server at setup)? Why doesn't the user accounts create [email protected] as the default address?
Presumably because the mail server says it is 'server.N.com' and therefore any accounts on that machine would be [email protected]. Changing the domain name (as above) should fix that.
