  • SSO to ECC (without java stack), BI (on NetWeaver), & Portal

I have a client that wants to configure their SAP systems in such a way so that the users sign onto their Windows workstations, are authenticated by Windows Active Directory and from then on they can sign on directly to an ECC ABAP instance, a BI instance, and an SAP Portal without having to supply a user/password combination again. (We already have SSO setup for users access some BI reports through the Portal, but in this case we want to setup direct access to the ECC and BI systems without necessarily going through the Portal environment).
The servers are running HP-UX, the clients Windows XP, and the AD system is running under Windows 2003.
Is this possible without using a third-party tool and if so,can anyone point me to the appropriate documentation (I've done a lot of searching, but can't find anything).
    Thanks in advance!

I am sure this has been done before and often discussed here?
Take a look in the FAQ thread at the top of the forum for a general overview discussion of SSO. If you keep an eye out for the note numbers, terms used and those folks who contributed to it when searching, then I am sure will find plenty of infos to start with.
Specific vendor evaluation details and comparisons (outside of the technical realm) are generally not provided, as the 3rd parties are generally competitors...
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Separating Java add-in from ABAP Stack server

I have installed an ABAP Stack and added the JAVA add-in on the same physical server.  Now I would like to have the JAVA add-in run on a physically different server.  ABAP on Server1 and JAVA add-in on server2.
What is the process to move the add-in to the new server?  What parameters/values need to be changed?
    Thanks!
    Steve E.

    Hi Stephen,
I think Java Standalone is the only (official) option you have, I don't know the way of physically separating J2EE add-in from ABAP stack in dual-stack systems (you can separate CI from DB, or SCS in the cluster env but not add-in from ABAP).

  • Can we add Java Stack after complete installation

We have already installed SAP ECC 6.0. While installation, we had opted only for ABAP stack. Can we add the Java stack now?
    Regards.

    Hi,
Yes you can install java server on existing ABAP but
If you have an existing ABAP central instance + ABAP dialog instance and
you want to install Java Add-in to the central instance, you first need
to uninstall the ABAP dialog instance, then Install the Java central
instance add-in and then install an ABAP+Java Dialog insntance.
    Please refer ABAP+Java instalation guide.
    Best regards,

  • SAP ECC 6.0 EHP4 installation with ABAP+JAVA stack

    Hi,
I need to install SAP ECC6.0 EHP4 with ABAP+JAVA stack on windiws server 2008 with oracle.
I have read that for this, we need to install ECC 6.0 EHP4 ready and then upgrade to EHP4 using ehpi installer.
I have found the documents seperately for ABAP and JAVA stack and not for ABAP+JAVA.
    I need clarifications on these.
1.Do we need to install ABAP and JAVA instances seperately with EHP4 and then upgrade(In that case I have to install both instances on single host)?
2.Should we give seperate <SID> for both instances and create seperate databases?
3.Hard disk requirement for this set up.(We have 150 GB including C drive)
4.Steps to perform after installing ECC6.0 EHP4 ready
5.Please send me the doc. if anyone has
    Anyhelp would be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Surya

    > 1.In the installation document for EHP4 ready for SAP ERP 6.0 ABAP.It is mentioned that this installation contains only basic EHP4 for ERP 6.0 and we need to install additional EHP4  functionality in the SAP ERP 6.0 -EHP4 ready system.
    > It states that atleast Support pacakge stack (SPS) 1 of SHP4 needs to be installed. So If I install this stack using EHPi installer in the post installation activities my SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 will be in place? Please confirm.
    Yes..

Yes you can do it.....as SAP still supports dual stack ERP systems to EHP4

  • AS Java Stack as Add-in to ABAP Stack in case of Dual Instance

    Short Text
AS Java Stack as Add-in to ABAP Stack
    Long Text
    Hi
We are upgrading from SRM 3.0 to 5.0.
We will need to install JAVA stack as add-in to ABAP stack. SRM 5.0
need both ABAP and JAVA stack (becuase of integrated ITS and IPC).
We have one box for DEV and QA and they are installed as separate
    instance (dual instance).
Can we install JAVA stack for both instance separately?
Or do we have to split the dual instancing development system into two
    separate standalone system
    Please advise
    Regards
    Manisha

    Hi Mike
    Thanks for your response.
We do not have MCOD installation.
Our DEV and QA installed on same physical same server but they they their own database and separate instance of ABAP stack.
Some concern have been raised that if we install JAVA stack as add-in on DEV instance, QA instance will be impacted. Because you can not have two separate JAVA stack on same server.
Please advise if above concern is true
    Regards
    Manisha

    Hi Manisha,
If the box is properly sized I feel that in the same box itself you can have 2 java instances (just you have to take care of the instance number).
Also another point which you can consider is that whether your platform is 32 bit ot 64 bit.
So if it is 32 bit what I recommend is to use new hardware and seperate the instances.
Any how it is possible technicall to have 2 java instances in one server.

  • Activate abap proxy withou java stack on ECC side

    Hi gurus,
Can we activate abap proxy on ECC side if the ECC don't hava java stack? As you know , we need to create two jco RFC provider in Visual Administrator, but without installing java stack, we can't do that.  Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks all.
Solved by using program id of XI system in the RFC of application system.
But we still face the issue in SPROXY. It gave the error "No connection to Integration Builder ".
Then I runned connection test, and found SPROX_CHECK_IFR_ADDRESS and SPROX_CHECK_HTTP_COMMUNICATION
are  right, but SPROX_CHECK_IFR_RESPONSE and SPROX_CHECK_IFR_CONNECTION are giving the error "Integration Builder data not understood". Any ideas?

  • Do I need to have a JAVA Stack for normal ECC 6.0 ?

    Hi together,
we want upgrade our R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0.
Do I need JAVA deployment on my ERP system as part of the upgrade?
What funktions are in the JAVA Stack for ECC?
    best regards,
    Carsten Schulz

    Just as advise:
I would highly avoid any dual stack installations nowadays. You can install the J2EE engine on the same host but use a different SID so you have two separate instances.

  • Installing Java add-in on ABAP Stack

    Hello Gurus,
We have recently upgrade from SAP R/3 4.7 ext. 20 SR2 to ECC 6.0 SR3 on Solaris platform using Oracle 10g. We are on Non-unicode system and on Single Stack i.e. AS ABAP only.
Now as new requirement comes up in organization, we need to install additional Java Stack on upgraded system. Please help me in provide some details to proceed further.
    1. Advantages of JAVA Stack (is there any performance issues after installing Java Stack?).

    There are two issues here:
    a) double stack instances are deprecated, they shouldn't be installed any more. Install the Java instance as a separate SID, at best on a separate machine (or on a separate Solaris zone on the same machine). See Note 855534 - Dual Stack and SAP Business Suite 7
    b) Java stacks with non-Unicode backends are not supported (see Note 975768 - Deprecation of Java features with non-Unicode Backend)
You may be able to technically install the Java AddIn with "some special DVD" but because your backend is non-Unicode this configuration would be unsupported.
I highly suggest you first convert your system to Unicode before trying to connect them to a Java system.

  • Deploy fails after move of ABAP&JAVA stack to other server

    Hello,
We moved our system (ABAP&JAVA) to a new server with exactly the same OS level and configuration by means of online backup and restore.
    Installation details are:
    SOLARIS 9
    SAP ECC5 SP12
    Java stack SP16
After the move the ABAP and the Portal is ok.The server, dispatcher and SDM are also starting fine and no errors shown in the trace files.
Problem is when trying to run&deploy any example application of the J2EE engine it fails with the following error:
Application error occurred during request processing.
Details:   java.rmi.RemoteException: Cannot commit handler in
    operation deploy with application sap.com/Calculator..
Reason: Error occurred during DB access:
    apps/sap.com/Calculator/servlet_jsp, ; nested exception is:
    com.sap.engine.frame.core.configuration.ConfigurationException:
Error occurred during DB access: apps/sap.com/Calculator/servlet_jsp,
    Exception id: [0003BAC828490049000000240000582F000419144C86546C]
Did you encountered such an issue?
Is there anything special to do for the SDM when moving to a different server? We simply restored from tape the filesystem containing the SDM and the J2EE folders.
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Kind Regards,
    Florin

    Hello All,
Please ignore the question; issue is fixed in the mean time.
Reason was that after the restore the temporary tablespace had no file so this caused the deploy to fail

  • How to use ABAP stack of one with Java stack of another PI Server

    Hi Friends,
We need to use the Java Stack of one server with the Abap stack of another PI server,
will that be possible ? and if yes what are the things need to be taken care of. please suggest on the same.
    Regards,

    Hi Michal,
Thank you very much for your answer, but want to know in detail (Technical Point of view) why it is not
possible. As we can use SLD of another server by maintaining details in SLDAPICUST transaction,
similarly cant we use java stack components of one server from ABAP stack of another PI Server.
    Just a query ??
If you can put a light on this area it will be very helpful for us.
