Add WebLogic 8.1 as target fails when AdminServer listens on DNS

We setup OEM 11.1.0.1.0 and added host1.foo.com (Linux VM) as a host. The OEM Agent is up and running on host1.foo.com
This host has a WebLogic Domain 8.1sp6 and its Admin Server listens on adminhost.foo.com (DNS which resolves to a virtual IP).
1) When I try to add the WebLogic Domain 8.1sp6 to the OEM Console using Administration Server Host as host1.foo.com, it failed with the error "No WebLogic Server found on the specified port". See attached screen shot.
2) When try adding the same domain to the OEM Console using Administration Server Host as adminhost.foo.com (DNS), it failed with the error "No domains found on host adminhost.foo.com". See attached screen shot.
Is there a way to make OEM OMS understand the DNS name? What facility OEM provides to handle this OMS->DNS->WebLogic AdminServer flow? Thanks

Found solution for this issue few weeks ago and asked Oracle add this as a note.

  • Weblogic.refresh is extremely slow & failing when xmiting JSP to App Servers

              We have a process that calls weblogic.refresh and sends JSP's to application servers.
              It normally runs in 30mins but is now running for 16hrs and then crashes. It is
              taking over 10mins to send each jsp rather than 1 second.
              Has anyone experienced a similar problem ?

    Was the managed server where a webApp is targeted alive when you ran weblogic.refresh? If the
              slowness happens when the managed server is down, you need to upgrade to SP3.

    my iphone 6 plus after updating to IOS 8.2 seems to have a problem with the touch id witch doesn't work neither in home unlock nor in app store and when i'm trying to add a new fingerprint it says ''failed unable to complete touch id setup.Please go back and try again'' . I have multiple fingerprints and none of them appear to work.

    Hi Giannis,
    If you are having an issue with Touch ID not functioning as expected, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

    The problem can be easily reproduced by a minimal case with the following structure:
    war-root
         WEB-INF
             beans.xml
             lib
                somejar.jar
    And with somejar.jar having the following structure:
    test
        ApplicationBean.java
        SampleExtension.java
    META-INF
        services
            javax.enterprise.inject.spi.Extension
        beans.xml
    ApplicationBean can looks as follows:
    @Named
    @ApplicationScoped
    public class ApplicationBean {
        @Inject
        private SampleExtension extension;
        @Inject
        private BeanManager manager;
        public void myMethod() {
            System.out.println("Extension:" + extension + " Manager:" + manager);
    And SampleExtension can be:
    public class SampleExtension implements Extension {
        public void onBeanDiscovery(@Observes AfterBeanDiscovery beanDiscovery, BeanManager beanManager) {
            out.println("Extension called");
    I published a minimal web application (as Maven multi-module project) that reproduces the case here: https://github.com/arjantijms/inject-extension
    This application runs fine on basically every other Java EE server (tried specifically JBoss EAP 6.1, GlassFish 4.0 and TomEE 1.5.2), but not on WebLogic 12.1.2.
    Note that I'm not really a WebLogic user. I'm an open source library writer who's trying to make our library (OmniFaces) to run on all Java EE implementations. This case is part of a functionality in our upcoming release.

    Hi,
    If it is war then try to apply following  Patch 13893259.

    which helps to this error but then you have to undeploy you application and restart the server before you can deploy the application again.
    This slows down the development of applications and in addition of that when your environment has two portal applications it is impossible to deploy both applications in that environment.
    Is there any solution for this kind of problems ? Or do we have wrong configuration or librarys in our environment ?

  • I have a production mobile Flex app that uses RemoteObject calls for all data access, and it's working well, except for a new remote call I just added that only fails when running with a release build.  The same call works fine when running on the device

    I have a production mobile Flex app that uses RemoteObject calls for all data access, and it's working well, except for a new remote call I just added that only fails when running with a release build. The same call works fine when running on the device (iPhone) using debug build. When running with a release build, the result handler is never called (nor is the fault handler called). Viewing the BlazeDS logs in debug mode, the call is received and send back with data. I've narrowed it down to what seems to be a data size issue.
    I have targeted one specific data call that returns in the String value a string length of 44kb, which fails in the release build (result or fault handler never called), but the result handler is called as expected in debug build. When I do not populate the String value (in server side Java code) on the object (just set it empty string), the result handler is then called, and the object is returned (release build).
    The custom object being returned in the call is a very a simple object, with getters/setters for simple types boolean, int, String, and one org.23c.dom.Document type. This same object type is used on other other RemoteObject calls (different data) and works fine (release and debug builds). I originally was returning as a Document, but, just to make sure this wasn't the problem, changed the value to be returned to a String, just to rule out XML/Dom issues in serialization.
    I don't understand 1) why the release build vs. debug build behavior is different for a RemoteObject call, 2) why the calls work in debug build when sending over a somewhat large (but, not unreasonable) amount of data in a String object, but not in release build.
    I have't tried to find out exactly where the failure point in size is, but, not sure that's even relevant, since 44kb isn't an unreasonable size to expect.
    By turning on the Debug mode in BlazeDS, I can see the object and it's attributes being serialized and everything looks good there. The calls are received and processed appropriately in BlazeDS for both debug and release build testing.
    Anyone have an idea on other things to try to debug/resolve this?
    Platform testing is BlazeDS 4, Flashbuilder 4.7, Websphere 8 server, iPhone (iOS 7.1.2). Tried using multiple Flex SDK's 4.12 to the latest 4.13, with no change in behavior.
    Thanks!

    After a week's worth of debugging, I found the issue.
    The Java type returned from the call was defined as ArrayList.  Changing it to List resolved the problem.
    I'm not sure why ArrayList isn't a valid return type, I've been looking at the Adobe docs, and still can't see why this isn't valid.  And, why it works in Debug mode and not in Release build is even stranger.  Maybe someone can shed some light on the logic here to me.

  • FTP Put fails when there is no pre-existing file present in the directory

    Hi All,
    In our process we use the FTP adapter to write a file to a location. This operation fails when there is no preexisting file on the output directory.
    So we placed a zero byte file on the directory and tested and the adapter was able to create the output file but when the files were deleted from the output directory the file transfer failed again.
    We got the below error
    Non Recoverable System Fault :
    Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'Put' failed due to: Invalid Output Directory. Invalid Output Directory. The value specified for the output (Physical/Logical)Directory interaction parameter or jca binding property has an invalid value "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" Ensure that the following conditions are satisfied for the output directory : 1) It exists and is a directory (not a file). and 2) It is writable (file write permissions). and 3) If using a logical name, then ensure that the mapping from logical name<->physical directory is correctly specified in the deployment descriptor. ". The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution.
    Kindly help us resolve the issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Balaji,
    This operation fails when there is no preexisting file on the output directory I'm not sure I understood this declaration.
    Why do you need to have preexisting file on the output directory?
    If it fails, with the mentioned error, it means that something was not defined properly.
    OR
    Another option is permissions.
    Check that your local system user (I guess orabi) has a write permission on the target directory (on the FTP host).

    I am not sure what causing the issue. I checked the Credentials, Windows Identity during both the test run and there is no difference. Please advise !!

    Hi Tina,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I do have NUnit adapter installed. I even noticed that the test runs fine with NUnit GUI and also if I run it through Resharper Test Explorer window.
    As you can see in the image above the same test is passed when I ran it from Resharper Unit Test Explorer window but fails when I ran it from Test Explorer window. I also captured the information on fiddler.
    There was a significant difference in the Header Content length. Also under the User-Agent property the protocol versions are different.
    Not sure why VSTest ExecutionEngine is picking a different version.
    The UnitTest in question is calling a webservice method which in turn calls a method from another referenced project.
    Web Service class

  • SSIS package works in development environment but fails when job scheduler executes, file path invalid

    SIS package works in development environment but fails when job scheduler executes, file path invalid
    Relatively simple package to get OLE-DB connection to MS FoxPro 9.0 DB
    The failure in the job log states that the path is invalid its a network path (\\192.168.1.xxx\foldername) this has been run several ways with the remote computer being mapped as a network drive and through the \\ notation described above.
    Thinking it was a security issue between the SQL agent account and my account I tested by subsitution myself as a proxy account for the agent when running this job, again same result failed on network path.
    One issue I see is that the remote computer is running Server 2000 (legacy software incompatable with newer versions)
    Is it possible that this is a security issue, since if i understand correctly the current MS domain security model didn't exist until Server 2003.

    Hi REIData,
    Have you got the issue resolved? Based on your description, please make sure the target folder is shared properly. If the computer on which the SQL Server Agent job runs doesn’t join the domain as the server that hosts the shared folder, you have to share
    the folder with everyone by adding “Everyone” to the people list on the File Sharing page of the folder and assign "Read/Write" permission to it.

  • The servlet weblogic.servlet.AsyncInitServlet init method failed

    I installed WLS 9.2.2 recently with my app being on 8.1.5 for a long time.
    I chose to create a new domain instead of upgrading my existing one.
    I use the eclipse 3.2.2 with the WL plugin.
    When I start the server and login to the console not using eclipse it works fine.
    Trying to start the server and login to the console gives a internal server error.
    Any idea what could be wrong? I bolded the parts where I have looked into.
    Here is the console output:

    Thanks for your replies adrian and david.
    The only thing I see different is that eclipse has different arguments when calling the jvm at the top.
    startWebLogic.cmd:
    C:\bea92\JDK150~1\bin\java -client -Xms256m -Xmx512m -XX:CompileThreshold=8000
    -XX:PermSize=48m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Xverify:none -da -Dplatform.home=C:\b

    onsole= -Dwlw.logErrorsToConsole= -Dweblogic.ext.dirs=C:\bea92\patch_weblogic922
    \profiles\default\sysext_manifest_classpath -Dweblogic.Name=AdminServer -Djava.s
    ecurity.policy=C:\bea92\WEBLOG~1\server\lib\weblogic.policy weblogic.Server
    eclipse:
    -hotspot -Xms32m -Xmx200m -Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=
    Eclipse may be calling the cmd I dont know.
    I will try upgrading my eclipse like adrian said, but in the meantime I appreciate any further advice/tips.
