Adding a "blank" selection for drop-down menus under list items.

A lot of people on this form are accidentally selecting items that shouldn't be selected and need to be able to change the drop down menu back to blank if they have made a mistake and selected a wrong drop down item in the wrong area.

Add an item to your Dropdown list with Blank as text and some value to it.
When you want to rest to blank, just simply set the rawValue to the value against the blank text.
For example if I add a blank text and assign a value "1" to it.
Then in the code I may use like below to rest it to Blank Text.
DropDown1.rawValue ="1";

Cyclosaurus is the resident expert on java script. Search the forum for his posts in topics containing "drop down menu". Also Google "drop down menus" and you'll get a lot of sites with many types of menus and codes. I had trouble adding one via an HTML snippet and am still working on it just to learn the process.

Help writing code for drop down menus and/or radio buttons

Hey, new to the forums, fairly new to programming in Java. I want to put up a "Ebay store", on Ebay.... well I guess that's obvious. I want to make a menu that either incorporates "Drop-down menus" (preferred - see below) or radio buttons. I do not know how to code these or how to incorporate them with the Ebay interface so that the new options selected by the customer with automatically adjust the price of the item. I'm guessing what you want to do has nothing to do with Java. It probably has more to do with JavaScript. You are probably going to have to learn a little HTML (Drop-down menus are really select boxes) and then some JavaScript to go along with it (onChange="javascript: doPriceChange();"). I have absolutely no idea about the EBay interface so this is all just a guess. Here's a google search for adding javascript to a select box.

Phone reception HORRIBLE, have to select from drop down menus 2x and INTERNET now freezes and is VERY SLOW SINCE NK1 UPDATE a week ago, no problems prior

I have had my Note 3 since about 14 months now and have loved it until the last Verizon update. Since the update my reception is very poor / "breaks up" in my shop. This is the same shop I have been working in for 6 YEARS!!! Also when I select a drop down tab like a credit card month and make my selection it NEVER saves the 1st time, always have to do it 2x. The internet used to work great in my shop and could stream Pandora without an issue, now it take 2 minutes to load the first song.
I feel these simple software issues could make people feel the need to upgrade their phone even though there is nothing wrong with their current phone, pretty creative sales tactic if you ask me. All I want is my phone to work like it did prior to the 1/16/2015 update. It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

After I select an item in the pop-up menu, I want the price to magically appear in the price column. Is there a formula I can use to have Numbers read the pop-up menu and enter a certain value automatically?
2. I also have a separate table with total sales by employee. In the table above, each line has a pop-up menu with a list of all the employees here at the store. In this second table, I have a row for each employee, with one cell for their name and another for total sales. In the sales cell, I want a total of all the values in the price column, but only the rows with that individual selected in the pop-up menu. How do I formulate this? Thanks!

The functions used are defined and discussed in the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide, available through the Help menu in Numbers '09.
IF(LEN(x)>0...is used to allow the calculation only if there is an entry in the cell referenced by 'x'.
IFERROR traps the 'not found' error that may occur and presents either the appropriate message or a null string.

PS: You may eventually want to limit the totals to sales within a specific time period. For that, take a look at SUMIFS.

After several hours of inactivity, the tabs are blank with noway to tell them apart without clicking on them. also the menu bar is there but the words 'File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help' are blank. also the drop down menus are blank.

The links are there. I can click on them. I'm just can not see what I'm clicking on. The info on the tabs comes back but only when I click on that tab. rebooting every 24 hours fixes the problem temporarily.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Adding up Form Fields that are drop down menus

I have the following form with a radio button, pull down
menus and a text field. I would like to have a total amount due at
the bottom of the form that adds up the tickets/contributions they

It is a lot to take on board, but start off small, firstly by at least styling your current table layouts with CSS and then moving onto using Divs for layout. It is nto as easy as some people say it is to move over from table layouts and sometimes you wonder whether it's worth it, especially when you may find yourself facing various browser bugs, but if you remember to code for Firefox first and then adjust for IE, you'll be set :-)

Feedback forms / drop down menus

Hello, I am fairly new so apologies if the questions posed may seem daft or have been answered before. Is there any way that within iWeb a feedback form can be added or a form with drop down menus? I cannot seem to find anything related to these items anywhere. I appreciate any help.

For feedback forums there are 3rd party sites like Wufoo which you create the form and add it to your page or the forms you create yourself. Examples of both are on this demo page: Embedding Forms & Encoding Email Addresses.
For drop down menus do a search in this forum as they were discussed very recently.

Database Design - Drop Down Menus

Hello alll,
I'm designing the database of Tire Store. We need to manage the Items and the Price List.
The tire has many specifications, ex: Category, Aspect Ratio, Origin, Pattern, Ply, etc
Each one of these specifications has a list of values (Drop Down Menus).
The Item table is as follows; ITEM( Category_ID, Aspect Ratio_ID, Origin_ID, Pattern_ID, Ply_ID)
Which solution is better:
- I create one table for each specification that takes the value as a primary key directly cuz the values are unique for every spec.
so will have ITEM('LVR', 65, 'JP', 'AL2', 12);
- I create one table that contains all drop down values together, ex:
SPECS(ID, NAME), ex: SPEC(1, 'Category'); SPEC(2, 'Aspect Ratio); etc.
DDMS(ID, SPEC_ID, SPEC_VALUE), ex: DDMS(1, 1, 'LVR'); DDMS(2, 1, 'MLS'); DDMS(3, 2, 'MLS'); etc.
ITEM( Category_ID, Aspect Ratio_ID, Origin_ID, Pattern_ID, Ply_ID) becomes
ITEM(DDM_ID, DDM_ID, DDM_ID, etc)
I think the first solution is more convenient, less joins and the ID is the same as value, but i need to create many tables for that, I have 10 specs means 10 tables.

Have you done any research on database normalization? You may want to read about it.
In my opinion you would have different entities/tables for category, aspect ratio, origin, pattern and ply. These would all be related via foreign key to a tire entity/table. That way when you want to provide a drop down menu for aspect ratio, you don't have to search through the entire combined entity/table that you were suggesting. You'll only have to query the aspect ratio entity.
There is nothing wrong with doing joins that are necessary. You could always encapsulate frequently run queries in a view.

Using Javascript to require 2 drop down menus to have something selected

Hi everyone. I'm trying to get 2 drop down menus to each have something selected when the form is submitted. I'm using javascript for this, but I can't get it to work. Basically, if one is blank and the other one isn't, I want an error to pop up saying they have to fill in the one that is blank and vice versa. What am I doing wrong?    I actually got this javascript below to work so if one drop down is left blank, and the other one is filled out, an error will pop up saying to entering either some initials or a rev. The only problem is that I have a dynamic list of drop downs in rows, so I need this javascript to run for each row. If I do the 1st row with 1 drop down selected and the other not, it gives me the error, which is perfect. But if I want the 2nd row to error out, for instance, doing the same thing, the error will not pop up. How do I make this work so it does this for each row since the list of drop downs is dynamic? My drop down menu names are Mfg_Spec_Prod_Approval_Initials and Mfg_Spec_Prod_Approval_Rev.

Drop down menus on iPad, the first selection in the drop down will not load as a selection when using safari, what can I do? I use this for my mobile, on-site auto repair business and not being able to call up repair and diagnostic info and reference for some cars is troublesome for sure. It works fine on the computer and I have installed a remote desktop app as a workaround but it is unreliable because the desktop is not business dedicated and may be off or in use at the time. So is there a known fix for this?
Let me paint a more descriptive picture, visualize 4 drop down selection menus, first one is for year, next one is for make, 3rd one is model and the last one is for engine size/type. If I wanted to choose a 2012 vehicle it wont work because it is the top selection on the list. This can be forced by selecting any other year and then coming back to 2012. Ok fine, but then let's say I wanted to choose Acura as the make, well it won't take it because again it's the top selection. Again you work around it be selecting any other make and coming back to Acura. Ok now select the model, same trend follows. But now since most Acura vehicles come with dedicated engines and no optional engines I have only 1 selection in that final drop down menu and it will not take my selection and therefore never let me proceed to the info I need.
This is also true when ordering parts from my wholesaler's website, they use drop downs and I can only get to that last drop down and then I'm stuck. This is blindingly frustrating, what options do I have. I'm not opposed to any avenue at this point.

Did you ever figure this out? I bought my iPad last week to use in my business as well. I assume you are trying to use alldata? That is where I noticed this same issue. I had problems with identifix working with safari but downloaded a different browser and that works fine. Alldata does not work with either browser. The main difference is that on identifix if there is only one engine selection, it automatically selects the only option and continues to the home page. With alldata you have to make the selection manually even if there is only one option. Honestly if I can't get this to work I am going to return the iPad as it looses a significant amount of usefulness to men

Presentation Director Monitor Drop Down Menus Blank

I'm trying to get Presentation Director functioning properly, but there are a couple of screwy things going on:
If I check the properties of the "Capture" profile, it has the resolution of external monitor incorrect. (1920 x 1200 Vs Captured 1024X768). Yes, even after re-capturing.
When I go to edit a profile, the drop-down menus for both the built-in LCD and external monitor for resolution and color quality are blank. Both the standing values and the contents of the drop-downs are blank.

Got rid of nvidia NView crapware, but the NVidia desktop manager is still present. It actually recognizes the proper resolutions for each display, but doesn't have any good way of quickly switching display setups like PD does.

I assumed you were running XP. This video driver persistency feature is implemented on XP as well as Vista/Win7. I don't know why the PD settings are blank.
For your first two scenarios, you should be able to configure that one time manually and then have the video driver automatically remember the settings as you connect and disconnect the display. First, with no monitor connected, configure the TPLCD how you want it. Then connect the monitor and configure both it and the TPLCD how you want them. Then disconnect the monitor and the TPLCD should automatically revert to the settings you specified when the monitor wasn't connected. Then reconnect the monitor and the settings for both monitor and TPLCD should revert to the settings you specified when the monitor was connected previously. Have you tried it? This is a very common configuration scenario that I know many customers are using successfully without the assistance of PD or any other software.
For your last two scenarios, you will just need to experiment to see if the the persistency works or not, like I said it depends on how old the projectors are. If it doesn't work, or if you are frequently connecting to different projectors, then you should be able to use PD for the projector ONLY! don't try to use PD to control the TPLCD.

Drop Down Menus in Photoshop CS 6 Goes Blank In Mavericks

I'm having trouble with Photoshop CS6 in Mavericks. After a working a little while, all pop up/drop down menus goes blank. They still work, but I can't see what's on them. Even the Apple menu bar is afflicted by this, though only when Photoshop is in the front.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks. PS: I do use a cintiq on a 2012 Macbook Pro 15" with retina display.

We are also having this issue with our two brand new 27 inch iMacs (not Haswell but the previous model) in our photography studio. We're running recent installs of Photoshop CC and since the computers are only used for Photoshop, the only thing we installed on them was Photoshop, Bridge, and nothing else except the driver for our Wacom Intuos 4 tablets. The issue started happening today on both computers, right after installing Mavericks this morning. It never happened before.
So far, the issue happened once on each of two computers over the course of 6 hours of continuous work.
The issue is solved when quitting Photoshop and reopening it, however, when having many unsaved files open, it becomes almost impossible to save them as the menu and dialog boxes are all blank. So it inderectly leads to lost data.

Drop Down Menu Selection - Make Other Drop Down Menus Visible

I am having some trouble with a simple if-else statement. When a certain selection is made in a drop down box, I would like two other drop down menus to appear. (At runtime, they are hidden.) The current problem is that when I try and select anything in the drop down menu, it will only allow me to select this one option. (If I try to select anything else, it reverts back to the same thing every time.) If I set the "if" statement to trigger for something else, then that option is all it will display and so on. I have made plenty of these types of scripts in other areas of this PDF, but I can't figure out why it isn't doing what I want it to now.
The "change" event is what I currently have this set to. I have also set it for the "enter" event with no change.
