Adding a Button a Servlet that calls a JSP

How would one put a Button in a Servlet that directs to a JSP.
... I have created a servlet that displays records from a database, but I would like to add a button that returns to a JSP page.
I thought something like this would help...
out.println("<input type='submit' value='Return to Main Page' name='response.sendRedirect ('MainPage.jsp');'/>");Help...

You edited your message with a code snippet:

Couple of things:
1) Presentation logic belongs in JSP, not in Servlet. Using out.print in either JSP or Servlet is a bad practice.
2) Java runs at server side, not at client side.

  • Is it posible to create a button on page that calls a workflow

    We are using Office 365/SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint designer.  I the workflow is set up in the library.  I was going to add a big button to the page so that when a user checks off a document and then hits the button it kicks off the workflow
    to delete the item.  I know I can make a quick link button in the menu, the issue is that these people do not know how to use menus.  The user requirement is that they have a "big red button" to click on.
    Thanks in advance for your time. Steven

    Hi,
    Yes, you can add a view botton into your library and kick off the workflow with it as below:

    If you have not changed any code it is impossible that a classcast exception can be thrown since we evaluate for duplicate ids. Chances are there if you had given an id of a bean which is added programmatically in the controller then you might end up with this error. Delete the personalization and create the button with a unique name.

    I am new at Captivate 8 and I have created a learning project using an existing power point presentation.  I have added a button that will allow my students to view a video on the subject.  When I run the project in Preview the button works but when I publish it, it stops working.

    I added an Interactions button and in the Actions on Success I open an URL or file. I have placed the video on our web server.   In the URL I point to our web server "http://www.wmabhs.org/Media/Add Client 3rd Party Coverage.mp4".  If I run this from any browser it works.  So what do you think I have done wrong?

  • How do I set focus to a text field after I click a button that calls a webservice?

    I have a web service that returns back a table. In order to show the values in the table I had to check the re-merge Form Data on the Webservice Button.  My question is , How do I set focus to a field on the screen after re-merge happens.

    I was reading SetFocus documentation and it says
    You cannot use  setFocus with the form:ready, layout:ready, or initialize events.
    What I need is an event like doc:ready or someother event where I can put the set focus code in. doc:ready was triggered when the form first loads which is great and I was able to put my Initial setfocus. When I pressed the button that calls the webservice and thr re-merge happened doc:ready event was not triggered so now I am not sure where to put the set focus.

  • Applet that calls servlet

    How to achieve something like this: i ve got a simple applet that calls servlet or JSp. when i get the response i would like to show it like a new page canceling the previous one with applet. Please Help. I have no idea how to using the data from response produce a new page. Nay resources hints??

    In the second case:
    You want to use the URL and URLConnection to POST or GET information to the server
    that the applet came from (if not you have to sign the applet or set up policy).
    The response from the server should be opened in a new window.
    To post the data:
    http://javaalmanac.com/egs/java.net/Post.html
    This will get you a string, after you got that string you can use JSObject to call a javascript
    method.
    for example your applet:

  • Adding a button to each row of a tabular form

    Hi,
    I'm new to APEX. I've searched the forums high and low for a couple days, but no go on a solution to my problem. Perhaps I'm not phrasing my search right.
    I have a tabular form. The columns in each row save to a table called STORE. At the end of each row, I'd like to have a button/hyperlink that takes you to another page wherein, for that store, you can check/uncheck the items they carry. So, here's the main tabular form:
    The Hardware Shop -- Col1 Col2 Col3 Col4 Col5 Link
    Bob's Nuts and Bolts -- Col1 Col2 Col3 Col4 Col5 Link
    Suppose you click on the link for The HW Shop. Now you're in a screen where you have a list of 20 items (coming from another table). From that list, you can check/uncheck the items carried by that store, save changes, and return to the tabular form. Checking/unchecking would insert/delete records from a junction table (using a trigger I guess).
    Back in the tabular form, you should still be able to save data at that level (i.e. the col1, col2, etc., above). I have this latter part working, and I know how to write triggers, it's just the button link concept that I can't understand.
    I'd be much obliged if somebody could point me to some sort of reference/example.
    Thanks,
    Max

    Hi again,
    I'd like to add some functionality to this, and would appreciate any input. I can't post this app for security reasons, and it would require a lot of reworking to 'genericize' it, so I'll just devote that same energy to being as detailed as possible in my explanation of the issue.
    Part of my app has 2 pages that interact with each other. Page 1 is a tabular form, and at the end of each row there is a link column, which I created with Arie's help. This link opens up page 2, which is also a tabular form.
    Clicking 'Save' in page 2 should launch a javascript function to do some calculation, and then this calculation should be sent back to page 1, and stored in a text field located on the same row as the link column that was clicked in page 1.
    There's a lot of different ideas floating in the forums regarding javascript calls via buttons, and I'm currently researching that. More important to me is understanding what row number was clicked on page 1 (i.e. f01, f02, etc.).
    I think this posting is similar to what I'm trying to do: Re: Trying to attach onclick event to a pagination link But, the replies went a bit over my head. I managed to create a row selector, which added a checkbox column to my form. But the downside to that is I don't want to force the user to click a checkbox to activate a row, and then do the additional step of clicking the link column.
    Thanks,

  • How to Call Transaction iView that calls RRMXP from Web Dynpro for ABAP

    Dear Experts,,
    I'm developing an application in Web Dynpro for ABAP wherein I'm supposed to give a link that should open an SAP Transaction iView that calls  tcode = 'RRMXP' and I pass the application parameter as QUERY/WBID = <BI query/Workbook ID>.
    I tried calling com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.bwc.Transaction iView, but it asks for system/application and GUI type parameters. How to pass through the URL?
    Any help would be highly appreciated
    Regds,
    Srini

    Hi Wolfgang,,
    My problem was that I was supposed to call the BeX Web Analyser ( a BI excel based tool - client installation) on click of a button in my WD-ABAP application. I solved it as follows :
    In the portal pcd, I cam across a folder content provided by SAP. Here, you'll find standard template iViews that can be used to call applications ( for which you make iViews). I had to call an SAP TCode : RRMXP so as to call a BI Workbook/Query.
    So, I called the standard iView template for sap_transaction_iView as follows :
    irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtmode/preview/prtroot/'
               'pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2ftemplates'
               '!2fiviews!2fcom.sap.portal.sap_transaction_iview?'
               'sap-config-mode=true&System=BWR3System&TCode=RRMXP'
               '&GuiType=WinGui&OkCode=y&ApplicationParameter='  <appnm>  into url.
          l_popup =
             l_window_manager->create_external_window( url = url
                                          has_menubar = ' '
                                         has_statusbar = ' '
                                          has_toolbar = ' '
                                          has_location = ' ').
          l_popup->open( ).
    And , it worked.
    Any more help pls feel free to revert.

  • Adding a Windows Shared Printer that I cannot see

    In 10.4 I was able to add a windows printer that was shared on my network that I couldn't see by hitting alt-More Printers. It would give me an advanced mode. I cannot find how to do this in Leopard. Can someone help me please.

    Hi,
    hade said in this thread-http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1201487&tstart=0
    "When you're adding a new printer right-click on the top bar with all the buttons, then choose customize (or what ever it's called in english) and add the advanced button.
    With that advanced button you kind of get a window like the old one, where you can choose the windows printer via samba."
    I still need to toggle the printer and I can't duplex unless I connect via USB, but.......

  • Trouble with deploying a standlone Java app/client that calls an EJB

    Hey guys,
    I am well aware that there are many topics that are quite similar to this topic that I am posting but the fact of the matter is I have failed to procure a satisfactory answer.
    So a bit of background about the environment I am using. I am using Netbeans 5.5 development build, today's version, JDK 6 Build 77, and Sun Application Server 8.2 to create, run and learn J2EE 1.4 based apps following the Sun J2EE 1.4 tutorial pdf and the Netbeans 4.1 tutorial pdf which I realize is a bit outdated but it gets the job done for the most part.
    I have satisfactorily created and built the Converter application as described in the above mentioned tutorial pdfs. For memory refreshment purposes, it is the simple session bean example where it is stateless and remote and has 2 business methods:
    dollarToYen(BigDecimal dollar)
    yenToEuro(BigDecimal yen)So I have this EJB being called, for learning purposes, by both a JSP and a Servlet as well as a standalone Java client. Now since the development machine is where I am deploying and running the enterprise application, everything works without a hitch. Once I have the Application server up and running I am able to access and execute the EJB's methods through JSP and Servlet even from remote machines on my home LAN. I realize that since the JSP and Servlet are in the same application context as that of the EJB I am not requiring the client jar which is where my confusion starts coming in. I know I need the client jar when I try to run the standalone java client from a different machine because it simply cannot access the EJB I have written.
    Now I found this link below and I read it and sorta understand it. I also found that under C:\AppServer\domains\domain1\applications\j2eeapps\ConverterApp I see a file called ConverterAppClient.jar. Is this the so called client jar? If so how do I go about using it?
    Before I end my rather long post, let me detail the steps I used to create the standlone Java client. I selected java application in the new menu of Netbeans and gave it the name ConverterClient and the IDE then proceeded to create a main class for me with a main method where I stuck in the following code:
    try
                Context c = new InitialContext();
                Object remote = c.lookup("ejb/ConverterBean");
                ConverterRemoteHome rv = (ConverterRemoteHome) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(remote, ConverterRemoteHome.class);
                ConverterRemote converter = rv.create();
                BigDecimal param = new BigDecimal(100);
                System.out.println(param + " Dollars are  " + converter.dollarToYen(param) + " Yen.");
                System.out.println(param + " Yen are " + converter.yenToEuro(param) + " Euro.");
            catch (RemoteException ex)
                ex.printStackTrace();
            catch (ClassCastException ex)
                ex.printStackTrace();
            catch (NamingException ex)
                ex.printStackTrace();
            catch (CreateException ex)
                ex.printStackTrace();
        }and that code works when I call it from the same machine that the Application Server is running with the EJB deployed. I also added in the classpath of the client application, the j2ee.jar and the other appserv-rt.jar as well. Have I missed anything?
    I even tried using the deploytool but to no avail as all it generated for me was the same jar file that I found underneath the Application server application directory as I mentioned earlier.
    If anyone is willing to help me, I will upload my Netbeans project files and all you have to do is open it through Netbeans 5.5 to recreate the exact scenario I am talking about.
    Thanks in advance. I apologize for the rather long post but I thought it would be best to provide as much details as was possible.
    Cheers,
    Surya

    hI,
    Pls, I'm happy to know u r using application server. I have just started reading enterprise bean.
    But I could not set the path and some other configurations for it to start working.
    Pls, I would be most grateful, if u could put me through on how to configure application server.
    Right now, I'm in the state of dilemma due to the insufficient knowledge in it.

  • How to call a jsp file from an servlet and access the jsp file objects??

    Hi everybody
    I have an jsp file where it contains a vector object with some data and I have a servlet that needs to access this vector object . How can my servlet call for this jsp page and get the vector object. ?
    then an applet will be calling this servlet to get some other object created with the data contained within this vector object...so each time Applet ask the servlet for the object the servlet need to call for this jsp page somehow
    My main question is the communication servlet-jsp
    please if u have any clue I will appreciate it
    thanks

    Hi
    There are several ways to share objects between JSPs/Servlets.
    You can share objects by putting them in the request-in which case the objects lifetime is limited by that of the request, Another way is to store them in the session, againg the lifetime is limited by the lifetime of the session. To have objects that have to persistent over the application life-span use the servletContext to store the objects.
    Any good tutorial should help you get started. Please see the link below for a tutorial on Servlets/JSPs
    Note: Local variables in the JSP cannot be shared with other components as their scope is limited to that particular Page/Servlet.

  • Adding a button/link in the portal logon page

    Hi,
    I am new to the portal related things. I am a web dynpro developer and familiar with the Java coding.
    Now, i got a requirement to modify the portal logon page as below:
    Need to insert one extra button/hyper link to reset the password.
    when user clicks on this button, i need to call an RFC in R/3 by passing the entered user name. That RFC will generate a new password and send a mail to the respective email address(maintained in a custom table in R/3 itself).
    If the user-id is wrong i need to show the error message returned from the RFC.
    If the return-code of RFC is success, then need to show an information message conveying that the password reset was successful and refer to your mail inbox.
    Please suggest me the best approach on this scenario.
    I already imported the PAR file for logon page and can see the project in NWDS.
    Note: we are using EP 7, NW2004s and R/3 is ECC 5.0
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kiran Chennapai

    The Funktion Prem is suggesting can be turned on/off through the UME Properties which can be changed through the Config Tool.

  • Feature request: Ability to set the Home button to answer incoming calls

    Rather than have to manipulate the slider to answer a call, it would be easier (and safer in many cases) to be able to click the Home button to answer a call. That could be implemented as an option on Settings/General/Home. Has this been requested?

    it is hard for us to know, since we are end users just like you. We do not work for Apple, and Apple does not monitor these threads to answer individuals.
    You may provide feedback to Apple for any enhancements you would like to see implemented at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • Adding a button to standard OWL

    Hello Gurus,
    How do we add a custom button to the Accounts OWL and act on click of it?
    I see that the UI is not extensible like that.
    The requirement is to select a number of customers from the list and click the button. The button click should call an action on the account business object.
    Can we add an embedded component below the list, add a button and on click of that, call action on the BO. How do we get the selected rows (customer IDs)?
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Hi Mahesh,
    the Account-BO is not an ESF2-Object. Therefore you won't have the possibility to add an action on Account-BO. The action-feature is only available on ESF2-Objects (like Service Request, Activity etc.). -> a Button in an EC would be an option, BUT I am not sure, if it is even possible to get the selected rows from the standard.
    A more heavy aproach would be to build your own Account OWL and show this instead of the standard OWL. This would have much more dev. effort, but provides you all freedom for custom action. But you would need to rebuild all the standard functionality (I guess you cannot rebuild everything there from PDI).
    Best regards
    Tom
