Adding a column of numbers in a form

Hello.  I am new to using forms.  I was able to take a document and make it into a budget form where people can enter their expense.  I would like the amounts to total at the bottom but I don't understand how to do that or where to begin.  Can anyone help?  I very much appreciate it.

In the calculate tab of the fields that you want to show the total value of the column, you can select the "Value is the: [sum +] of the following fields:" and then pick which fields you want to sum.
After you're done configuring the calculations for each field, make sure that you confirm the the field calculation order is correct, and fix if not. Then check again before you distribute the form. Exactly how you do this depends on which version of Acrobat you're using.

  • Can you create forms that automatically calculate columns of numbers? Example of such form would be

I am trying to recreate a loan application form which includes several columns of numbers which need to totaled, currently we are using a Word document, but are starting to find that it is cumbersome and very limiting. It was suggested that we check out Adobe forms as a possible solution.

In FormsCentral, you can use formulas in the response table to add together values in a response. For an example of this, you can fill out this form:
    https://adobeformscentral.com/?f=nAo5QQeg5J2NDfXYlZW4fw
And you can see the response table for that form here:
    https://formscentral.acrobat.com?d=nAo5QQeg5J2NDfXYlZW4fw
I've created two columns that use different labels to add together the number fields in the form. You can mouse over a cell in those columns to see the formulas used.
    Hope that helps!

  • Retain field order on form when adding/deleting columns

If I move my html around to change the layout of the fields on an AddForm.aspx and then I start adding and deleting columns, the ordering of the ff## changes and I can have problems.
Its fine if I've only added new columns...what I've done is create an AddForm1.aspx to get the fresh ff##'s at the end of the list.  I copy them over to my AddForm.aspx
If I add and delete columns, then I can have problems.
The ff## may be renumbered when making an AddForm1.aspx and copying the new fields might create an error because of dupe ff##'s.
If I use AddForm1.aspx,  I lose my layout of the fields on my form AddForm.aspx.
I have been successful finding the ordering of the columns on AddForm1 and renumbering on AddForm.
But this is pain and error-prone.
What do people do to get around this dilema?
    thx
    Rich

    "Ellie,
The first thing you need to do is to read your file in as a spreadsheet file. Then, you display it in a chart.
That sounds simple, but looking at your dataset, there's a few things you should know. First, the "read from spreadsheet VI" is looking for data in columns, like your data set, but columns separated by tabs. Therefore, your data must be saved that way; currently, it doesn't seem that it is. Another thing; you must skip the header portion (labels) of your file when reading.
Next, it would be easier if your time was first, and your data was second in your columns, but that can be overcome. In the VI I am including, I have copied your data set into a file called data.txt, and I've removed the header and separated the columns with a tab. Then, I read in the data, and I break out each column so I can put the time first, and then I combine them again into a cluster so it can be displayed on an XY chart.
    Take a look!

I intend to read from a .txt file that contains a column of numbers. After reading I want to display it as a waveform. In fact the numbers represent points along a waveform/graph of Flow vs. time. Thus I want to have this info in the chart or graph with flow in the y0axis and time in the x-axis. Can someone give me some detailed help please? Thank you in advance.

All you have to do is use Read From Spreadsheet File.vi that's on the File I/O palette. For your example .txt, set the Transpose input to true and wire the First Row output to a waveform graph. The only problem I see is that since your file doesn't contain any sampling info, the time axis will be relative. If have that information elsewhere, then you can put a build waveform function between the read and the graph. Wire the First Row output to the Y input Build Waveform and add t0 and dt values. I've attached an example.

  • Adding multiple columns in List Validation

    HI,
I have a custom list, which has 2 date fields. In the date column, I have added a validation as below for each of the columns:
    //on column one - Test Log date=[Test Log date]>=TODAY()
    //on column two - Test Start date=[Test Start date]>=TODAY()
and the validation message for each of the column as : "Please enter date greater than or equal to today's date"
In the Edit mode, i dont want the validation to check.
How to add these two fields in the list validation?
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to disable column validation in the edit form.
There is no out of the box way to disable column validation only in edit form.
As a workaround, we can use the JQuery to create our own custom column validation in the new form.
There is an article about this topic, you can have a look at it.

  • How do I get numbers to automatically add the next date down a column in numbers?

How do I get numbers to automatically add the next date down a column in numbers?

    Hi Dd,
If you want the next date automaitcally  filled in when you add a row to the bottom of the table, you can use a formula.
Here's an example, done in Numbers 2.3 (Numbers '09). The method is basically the same in Numbers 3.
    Formulas in row 3:
    B3: =B2+1
    C3: =C2+7
    D3: =D2+14
These have been filled down to the last row of the table.
The same table is shown below after three rows have been added by dragging the Row control handle (below the tab for row 7) down. No changes other than adding thse three rows were made by the user.
Note that rows 1 and 2 are header rows, and that row 2 contains the starting date for the seraies of date in each column. In the formula, the number at the end tells Numbers how many days to add to the previous date to get the next date.
Autofill of the formula requires that every non-header cell located above the cell into which the formula is to be filled contains the same formula.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Auto-adjust references when adding rows/columns

If I recall correctly, it was the behavior of Appleworks that if you added, say, column B, making the old column B into column C, all references to B throughout were automatically changed to C. This does not happen in Numbers. Is there any way to make this the default behavior or a different command to add rows/columns that causes references to automatically be adjusted accordingly?

OK, this is going to make me sound really stupid, but I actually was so confused and tired that I meant the exact opposite of what I said. I was making a ledger-type spreadsheet keeping a running balance, and I wanted cells in the balance column to continue referring to the cell directly above them rather than to one absolute cell that used to be directly above them. That's how it works in Appleworks. I think.

  • How to print page numbers in adobe form

    Hi,
Can anybody tell me how to print page numbers in adobe form.
    Thanks in advance
    Chaitanya

    Hi,
Yes the field page n of m is used normally for printing page numbers. But it won't display the current page of total pages by itself. You have to set the run time property to n (current page ) and m (Total number of pages). Carefully select the # (current page ) and ## (Total number of pages). Hope this works for you.
My requirement is to have the user control on current page. For Example:
Example for a Invoice with 5 PO items (stands on 2 pages) :
1st  page is the letter : no page number
2nd page is the 1st page of the 1st copy of the invoice : we should read u201C1 / 2u201D
3rd page is the 2nd page of the 1st copy of the invoice : we should read u201C2 / 2u201D
4th page is the 1st page of the 2nd copy of the invoice : we should read u201C1 / 2u201D
5th page is the 2nd page of the 2nd copy of the invoice : we should read u201C2 / 2u201D
Presently i cam getting the current page number for page 4th as 3 / 2 and for 5th page 4 / 2. I could able to control the total number of pages from print program. But when i am printing the second copy (4th and 5th pages), I couldn't able to control the current page number. I need to initialize the Current page count (4th page ) as 1.
I have used the follwing java scripting:
    this.rawValue = wv_pages - xfa.layout.page(this)
where wv_pages is total no of pages calculated from print program.
Please help me in this regard with some formcal or java scripting conditions.
    Thank You,
    Regards,
    Naresh.

  • Adding data to multiple tables using one form in Access 2010?

    Hi All,
I have a access database with two tables and I want to create a single form to enter data into that tables.
How to adding data to multiple tables using one form in Access 2010?
I don't have to much knowledge of access database?
    Please help me
    Thanks
    Balaji

You really don't enter identical data into 2 tables.  You enter dat into one single table, and then you have an unique identifier that maps to another table (you have a unique relationship between two tables).
Maybe you need to read this.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/access-help/database-design-basics-HA001224247.aspx
Think about it this way...  What is you update data in 2 tables, and then the data in one of those tables changes, but the data in the other table does NOT change.  WHOOPS!!  Now, you've got a BIG problem.  For instance, you have a customer
named Bill Gates.  In one Table you update Bill's address to 1835 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039 and in the other table you accidentally update Bill's address to 183 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039.  Now you have 2 addresses for Bill.  Why would
you want that???  Which is right?  No one knows.  If you have one address, you just have to update one address and if there is a mistake, you just have to update one address, but you don't have to waste time trying to figure out which is right
and which is wong...and then update the one that is wrong.
    Post back with specific questions.
Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.

  • Serial numbers in oracle forms 6i

    Dear all,
I have developed a form that display list of items. I would like the items to appear with numbers, serial numbers that increment by 1. How to achieve that in forms 6i. Note that i would like to generate the numbers when a form runs.
    Kind regards,
    Steve Dollongo

How you do this will depend on exactly what kind of sequencing your need. In other words, are the numbers that you defined as serial numbers, actually like "serial numbers", where they can never be repeated? Or are you just trying to add something similar to line numbering to a list, but not store these numbers permanently?
If the numbers are to act like real serial numbers and cannot be repeated, consider using the db SEQUENCE function.

If I often urge askers to look at the available resources, it's because  a large range of questions asked in the forums are already answered in these documents.
As they are PDFs, they are easy to search in.
    CAUTION
Download them while they are available.
Given what is delivered with iBooks Author, I'm afraid that we will not get such easy to use documents.
Searching infos in the  iBooks Author documentation available on line is awfully cumbersome and a lot of embedded links are wrongly flagged this way. In the Help files they aren't links but underlined strings.

The “FieldName” should be the internal name of the column, you will find it at the address bar at the “Site Columns”->”Edit Column” page:
