Adding a controller to a swf file

Hey I have a swf file and I need to load this onto a page with a controller. I am not using DW this time but a template system that is required.
The swf does not upload to youtube so I have to work with it.  I can embed it on the page but it starts automatically.
OR I need to convert it to a flv or wmv.
thanks.

    I have no client available with links redirected, but basically, this
    should result in a registry value containing the new path. Simply
    regedit and search for your "links" redirection path.
    Then use Item Level targeting "registry value" to store this path in a
    temporary variable that you can use in the target path for your shortcut.

  • How to detect end of flash movie (SWF file) in Javascript

    I have used Dreamweaver CS4 to integrate my SWF file as shown
    below. So far so good. See GoToNext()
    my website
    What I wouldd like to do is have the SWF movie trigger a
    javascript function in my html page when the video is stopped
    playing (i.e. when it is finished) There are no controlls in that

    be easiest done by rasinng an event in SWF that is communicated to
    javascript, where I can add an event listener, and thus trigger my

    How can this be done in the simplest way?

    GRag and Mesh are correct. You cannot use Flex to access a file on a user's hard drive, which is where your path is pointing.
    Instead, create a folder within your Flex project, under the "src" folder (example: src/assets/videos), and put the SWF there. Change the path in your code to point to the new location, like "assets/videos/myVideoFile.swf". Note that you don't refer to the src folder; it is the "root" of your application, and when you deploy all your files to your web server, you will be copying the folders you created to the root folder of your web server. So, all the paths will remain consistent. Flex will attempt to find "assets/videos/myVideoFile.swf", starting from the "root", or location, of the application itself.

  • Controller skin for SWF video in dreamweaver CS3?

    Hi there,
    I have inserted a SWF video into my website, however right
    now it's playing automatically and i have no way of stopping and
    pausing my video... how can I add a skin controller to my SWF file?
    I know I can do it with FLVs, but I dunno how to do it in SWFs....
    THanks!

  • Getting an unwanted line when adding a swf file to dreamweaver and previewing it in the browser...

    I created a very simple swf with a box moving from stage right onto the stage.  It works fine when previewing the swf itself, but when previewing from dreamweaver there is a small line that only extends half way across the swf file (which happens to be the length of the box). I even made the box smaller than the stage but the line still appears at the bottom.

    Sometimes it helps to create a box in the background color that overlaps the edge of the stage. I had the same problem with a .swf that had a black background. The web page had a black background too but there was a white line at the bottom of the .swf when I previewed it in the browser. I added a black box to the background that went past the bottom of the stage and into the surrounding area and resaved it. The white line disappeared.

  • Adding video to a .swf file created in InDesign so it will work as a PDF.

    I am having trouble inserting a video into my indesign file. I change the format to a .FLV and then export it as a .swf. When I bring it into Acrobat to create a PDF the video does not play. Any suggestions on how to add video to a .swf file that works in a pdf?

    That's a circular argument, since video in a PDF file is rendered in the Flash Player runtime.
    Steve Werner wrote:
    Things will work better if you change the format of the video to MP4. Then just place the video directly in the InDesign file and make the interactive PDF. Mixing SWF and PDF are bound to be a disappointing experience.
    Flash is a format which is on the downhill slope. It's not supported on mobile device (you know, tablets and smartphones), and many people don't like installing Flash for security reasons.

    Generally making sure that the SWFs are at the remote
    location where you think they are supposed to be (and where the
    code thinks they are supposed to be) as well as making sure that
    the active content JavaScript file(s) are uploaded and are present
    where the page is expecting them to be. Beyond that, for anyone to
    see what is wrong with your page(s), you have to post a link to
    your page(s).

  • Adding .swf file to Dreamweaver CS3 page?

    In Dreamweaver MX, I used to import .swf files, view them,

    Your code is sticking some stuff in there that my code
    doesn't
    for example the version is different (that should be okay if

  • Footer div not aligning in Dreamweaver when swf file added...

    Hi, here's a good one!
    I have a template that has a div (#footer) as an uneditable area.  When I add an swf file to a div above it (#flash), the #footer div displaces in Dreamweaver, but looks OK in any browsers that I preview it in.

  • Adding another swf file to the air application

    I have developed adobe air application. Before the application is launched, I want to play a .swf file with sound
    as introductory and then launch my air application.
    How to integrate the .swf file with my application?
    If some one can share how to do this in Adobe Air it will be of great help to me.
    Thanks in advance

    I am not aware if you can run various swf's from Air in any particular sequence, but it is pretty irrelevant as you can have a shell.swf that loads the sound from an external or attach it if embedded in the library, play it and onSoudComplete step to the next function. I can't see you need to load 2 swf's as it sounds like you just need an intro page, listen to the sound and move into the application, perhaps with an option for the user to skip the intro. If you are using AS3 I can't comment further - in AS2 it's simple and little coding.
    var sf1a:Sound = new Sound(this);
    sf1a.attachSound("snf1");
    stop();
    stopAllSounds();
    sf1b.onSoundComplete = function(success:Boolean) {
    if (sfp ==0 and sf >= 3) {
      gotoAndPlay("frame23");
    } else {
      sfp=0;
      gotoAndStop("frame3");
    sf1b.start();

  • Adding a SWF file into a Coacoa application in Xcode.

    Hello all,
    I'm not the most experienced Mac developer, and I have a question. I want to input a SWF file into my application. Whenever I just add it in by dragging and dropping, it looks fine while building it however it doesn't show up in testing. It just shows a white screen.
    My second question is about auto loading a web page while making a browser in Xcode. If I have made a browser in Xcode, how do I make it to where when you open the application it automatically loads the specified web page you want. Would this be done by AppleScript? If so, how?
    Thanks, I hope I explained the questions clearly.

    It sounds like you need to make sure it gets copied to your application's resources folder (and make sure it gets loaded from there, too). Look into a copy files build phase, where your SWF file would get copied to your app's resources directory.

    You can do that directly in your app with a WebKit call. Look at "loadRequest:" in the documentation for the details.

  • Unable to play audio stream in a swf file

    Making a swf file that reacts like a button: it plays sound
    when you pass over it. Or should play. When the button keyframes
    sound options are set to "start" or "event", there is no problem,
    it works well. But it doesn't work if I set to "stream". My
    original file is an mp3. Is there something special avout it? Help
    tutorials didn't help me so far...

    With "stream" you have to make sure there are enough frames
    in the movie to play the whole sound file. Try adding some frames
    and see if it plays then.

  • How do I script SWF files instead of JPG files in XML loader?

    I have a SWF loader (greensock.com platform) and a thumbnail image scroll underneath it made of small image buttons. Each image button has a link which loads a new SWF file into the SWF loader above. Here is the code for each button which loads the bigger SWF file into the loader above:
    Button3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, Button3_PlayPopUp);
    function Button3_PlayPopUp(event:MouseEvent): void {
        //setting the sourceVar
        sourceVar="3.swf";
        //making the SWFLoader load
        //as setting the soureVar after the SWFLoader is created won't do anything unlesss
        //I also re-create the SWFLoader with the new sourceVar when the button is clicked
        loader_howToLoader2.url = sourceVar;
        loader_howToLoader2.load(true);
    Then I decided to load all button via XML loader. I followed the tutorial on XML loaders which deals with loading jpg images and assigning URL links to them in the following manner first in XML file:
    <image src="appThmb_imgs/appThmb_imgs117x175/A-illuminatorUpLit_117x175.jpg" title="UpDownGlowingVase" url="http://www.888acolyte.com"/>
    and then in AS3 like this:
    var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    thisOne.link = imageList[item].attribute("url");
    function clickScrollerItem(e:MouseEvent):void {
    //trace("clicked item " + e.currentTarget.itemNum + " - visit url: " + e.currentTarget.link);
    var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(e.currentTarget.link);
    try {
    navigateToURL(urlRequest);
    catch (e:Error) {
    // handle error here
    trace(e);
    My question is: How do I apply the code to each individual small thumbnail button to load a bigger image into the SWF loader above? Do I have to add something to XML file or this way it will never work with jpg images? Can url in XML file set the source var (//setting the sourceVar), since they are all individual and then somehow apply the making SWL loader to load part (//making the SWFLoader load) as a standard somewhere in the AS3 code?

    O.K. Here is my COMPLETE function.
    xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, LoadXML);
    function LoadXML(e:Event):void {
        trace("xml load complete");
        xmlData = new XML(e.target.data);
        //trace(xmlData.image); //we'll see each image xml element listed in the output panel with this xmlList
        buildScroller(xmlData.image); //rather than trace the xmlList, we send it to our buildScroller function
    //build scroller from xml
    function buildScroller(imageList:XMLList):void{
        trace("build Scroller");
        //var scroller_x:int=0;
        for (var item:uint = 0; item<imageList.length();item++) {
            var thisOne:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
            //thisOne.img_width=imageList[item].attribute("width");
            //outline
            var blackBox:Sprite = new Sprite();
            blackBox.graphics.beginFill(0xFFFFFF);
            blackBox.graphics.drawRect(-1, -1, 86, 128);//-1,-1 places rectangle 1px left and up.86, 128 draws rectangle 1px wider on all sides of placed image dimenstions of 84x126
            thisOne.addChild(blackBox);
            //scroller_x += thisOne.img_width + 20;
            //var currentX = currentImageWidth+spaceBetween;//modified line to adjust variable thumb widths
            thisOne.x = (84 + padding) *item;//84 is the width of the loaded images and 15 (which was before paddign var) is the padding
            //thisOne.x = scroller_x;//modified line to adjust variable thumb widths
            thisOne.itemNum = item;
            thisOne.title = imageList[item].attribute("title");

            ldr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, errorHandler);//tells us if there are any typo errors when the loading is complete
            thisThumb.addChild(ldr);
            thisOne.addChild(thisThumb);

            //add item
            scroller.addChild(thisOne);
    But I am not sure if I expressed myself clearly. All what you have indicated happens. Images are being loaded and url strings are working. I can not figure out how to tweek the code so instead of url specified in xml file I can load swf image into the SWF loader on the same screen?

  • Flash .exe or swf files will not play on Vista

    I decided to learn how to create captions for flash video,
    using CS3. I tested this project and it worked fine. I could just
    double-click on the app or the swf and the captioned video played
    fine on my Mac. I only had Flash (CS3) on my Mac, so I created the
    files there.
    I then published an exe to move over to my Vista machine.
    When I double-clicked on the file, it brought up Flash Media Player
    version 9, but only showed a blank white box. Very frustrating.
    After some research, I read that Windows Vista was not
    compatible with Flash Media Player 9. Only 10.02xxx or later (I
    forget the exact version - it was long) was supposed to work with
    Vista. Since CS3 uses version 9 to pack into the executable (PC) or
    app (Mac) projector files, I thought maybe this was the problem.
    So I downloaded the demo of Flash CS4, thinking this version
    would pack version 10 into the projector and this would solve my
    problem.
    While the CS3 version of my saved flash video project would
    open in Flash CS4, it would not play when I tested the movie inside
    Flash CS4. It would just show a skin at the bottom of the video
    player only (with a play/pause button), and it had moving blue bars
    on the skin like it couldn't really load either.
    I then decided to create the whole flash video with captions
    from scratch under Flash CS4. This time when I tested the movie in
    Vista, it worked fine. When I published either the projector exe or
    the html/swf combination, it worked fine. So proudly (and finally!)
    I sent the exe over to my boss. But..... you guessed it. The Flash
    Media Player 10 that started up when the file was double-clicked
    just showed a blank white screen again!
    So then I moved the exe over to another partition to test to
    see if there was some dependent directory pathway saved as part of
    the flash video file. The exe wouldn't play on the other partition!
    So I thought I was onto something. I then tried moving files that I
    thought the exe might be dependent on (although isn't the point of
    a projector to be stand alone?) to the same directory on this
    partition as the flash exe projector file.
    I ended up moving the captions.xml file, the swf files (flash
    video player skins included), and the html file that the swf file
    is supposed to be embedded in. NOTHING worked.
    I even read that someone with this problem saved his Flash
    CS4 file as a Flash CS3 file before he published it, and that
    worked for him. So I tried that too, but with no joy.
    So I am totally stumped. Does anyone out there have advice or
    even a solution?
    Much Thanks,
    Chuck
