Adding a single line to a multicolumn listbox?

Hi Community,
I have a multicolumn listbox which tens of thousands of lines where each line is color coded and represent a cycle with a pass/fail status. The only way I have found to add lines to a multicolumn listbox is to read its ItemNames property which is a 2D array of strings, add the new line to the 2D array and then write then new array back to the ItemNames property.
The problem is that after couple thousands of lines this get more and more slow.
Is there any way to speed this process up, maybe by adding the line to the listbox in a different way?

I currently have data entered into multicolumn listbox. While the program is running, is it possible for a row of the listbox to be selected and then give the index number of that row? From there I will want to use that index number to reference other arrays, but right now I'm just dealing with getting the index number I need from the user's row selection.

Adding Amount field in BSEG table and display it single line item?

       I am doing credit / debit form now my requirement is

                  i created a loop .
                         in that i mentioned like I_BSEG into WA_BSEG.
                               then i created a program lines here i mentioned like this.

           but because of BUZEI "Number of Line Item Within Accounting Document .it is not same it is varying for every credited time that means for every line of BELNR. thats why it is not adding it is just appending .
so pls tell me any other chance to find sum .
because i want to sum up all credted amount and display it in single line
ie first column REBZG "Number of the Invoice the Transaction Belongs to(against ref) i want to display once .
And Second column SGTXT "item text(details) for amount once and for tax amount once
And Third column Amount first line consists total amount & second line consists total for tax amount

Set column width of a multicolumn listbox in LV touch panel module

Hello,
I am trying to build an application using LV Touch panel module 8.6 and I am having a problem with multicolumn listboxes. I am setting the the width of the columns by clicking and dragging the separator between the headers, but when I transfer and run my application to a winCE controller the width of the columns is the same for all columns (and very narrow actually).
Does anyone know something about it?
I also noticed the following two problems. When I transfer my application in the winCE controller, the line and column separators are disappeared and the column headers are also disappeared, although I have set them to be visible in my vi.

The issues that you are having are because the LV touch
panel Module does not support "Moveable column separators" and
"Row and column headers". The limitations of using a touch panel are available
in the LabVIEW help file.
A possible workaround may be to use a series of arrays with a string data
type then using a single scrollbar control multiple property nodes.
I have attached an example.

Converted single line text to multiple and want to have rich text editing in layout

We had a text field in a site that was initially set as single line of text. We needed it to be bigger and also allow formatting. So I added the field into the page layout.
Changing
<SharePointWebControls:TextField id="habitat" FieldName="Habitat" runat="server"/>
to
<SharePointWebControls:NoteField id="habitat" FieldName="Habitat" runat="server"/>
But it doesn't show any rich text editing options and displays the full html tags in the field.
If I open the page in the edit properties screen instead, then the field displays as I want it with the rich text editing options available in the ribbon, and text showing as bolded instead of like this:

This is a site using the 2010 Publishing template running in compatibility mode on a 2013 server.

Can the Terminal add a user(with all options) on a single line?

Thanks Drew!   You have some great thoughts there. Perhaps I should provide a clearer environment of each high school(4). All classrooms have a lock down Windows environment. (There are no Macs any where in any classrooms.) The mini-tower will be the only Mac on each high school campus. we're in Dell country. The desktops are locked in such a way that only the ghosted/installed software on each hard drive works and no other software can be installed. USB sticks can't run any exe, jar, or other executable file. Even the other drives on the network can't run them. This has been setup to prevent students from bringing games into the environment and running them. Only the single classroom in each high school, where Web Tech is taught, has a ftp tool installed. Students cannot bring and use their own laptops either. So there really isn't any stray ftp activity happening. You cannot "ftp" out of the network! And there is only the one Mac available per campus. All this makes it certainly easier to maintain for sure. I am the only user in the school district they let run a personal laptop...mine has Ubuntu (tweaked). My knowledge of Linux has led them to assign this project to me. They are MS based entirely and so is their knowledge base.
I've got to teach the other 4 teachers how to manage the mini-tower. Basically it is this:
     Start and stop Apache2,
     Start and stop vsftp,
     Add ftp users(students will only have directory:           /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default/studentlastname.firstname ) Students will not log on to the min-   tower directly as any normal user would, but only through ftp. (I.E. no /home directory) ,
     Remove/delete students as needed
     (I'll pre-install cgi-bin scripts on these to keep it simpler on the other teachers and myself.)
With this in mind, you can see why a basic script or single command line to install these students would be great! I want to keep it simple to avoid mistakes the teachers might make adding users. Once I understand adding a user (in a terminal) better on a Mac, I may write a script to make it happen for them.
I'd also like to understand removing/deleting a student/user better to insure everything is gone when executed.

How do I store 250 characters in an infoobject? (An Infoobject can be of 60 characters only)
I can certainly store using 5 different infoobjects but my requirment is that the text should be visible in a single line while executing a report.

You may want to try this workaround:
"Create two 60 CHAR length InfoObjects and adding them as attributes to the InfoObject you originally created (say ZIO_1). Populate long texts (in your case, up to 100 CHAR) to the master data of ZIO_1. You need to make ZIO_1 values unique. That works for me where I need to store up to 480 CHAR for comments"- Bill Wu

Using LabView 7.0:
I need to automatically wrap text inserted in a multicolumn listbox.
The size of the listbox is fixed and I don't know the legth of the string that will be inserted. But the whole string must be visible, because it's Information is important
I'm not allowed to use a fixed width font. :-(
Has anyone any ideas (or a solution already?)
How can I compute the length of a string in pixel to calculate to position to wrap?

Hi Veena,
The trick is to use the Get Text Rect.vi to calculate where to wrap your text string. There's no feature to automatically wrap the string for you, so you will have to split you string into sections/lines, that doesn't exceed the width of the column in the listbox.

Displaying items in a single line in ALV grid using ALV_TOP_OF_PAGE.

I am having a problem in displaying items in a single line in the ALV Grid using event ALV_TOP_OF_PAGE.
My requirement is to group items on a single line i.e. in the example below, Vendor code and posting date are on the same line. The next line the prints Vendor Name and Document no.
Vendor Code: 123123                               Posting Date : 01.01.2011
Vendor Name: ABCD                                 Document No: 152246598.
Here is my code in subroutine 'ALV_TOP_OF_PAGE',
wa_list_comments-typ = 'S'.
wa_list_comments-key = ''.

APPEND wa_list_comments TO it_list_comments.
wa_list_comments-typ = 'S'.

The above code prints in the following format i.e one below the other,

Your problem is with the alignment and you need some fix positions .
The solution i feel is u can use as below :

Is it possible to create a form with multiple form fields on a single line?

Is it possible to create a form with multiple form fields on a single line? I can't find anything in the documentation or a template that does this.
I am trying to create a "documents received" checklist with a check box on the left margin, a date-received field to the right of the check box and and a description of the document (Formatted Text) on the far right.
In the past I have entered the Fixed Text with a word processor, published it to a PDF file, then added the check box and date fields with the Acrobat Forms editor. I would prefer to use FormsCentral if it is possible.

Measuring of Text with Multiple Fonts in One Single Line

I am following a request to write C++ code for a label that contains several text elements in one single line, varying by font, size, color.... Ok, that can be done easily in GDI+ by measuring each element's width and then execute a DrawString
for each of the text elements starting at its calculated position.
So far, I failed miserably.
The horizontal text positions did not appear to be correct. I reverted now to very simple text width measuring tests where the results are still puzzling.
Test 1 (GDI+): Use of MeasureString
With the same font, the width of the string "MM" does not match the double with of the string "M". This cannot be explained with eventual rounding problems.
Test 2 (GDI+): Use of MeasureCharacterRanges
Used the same font as for the first test. The width of "MM" is now exactly double of the width of "M". But: The width of the "M" ist lightyears away from the measurement result in the first test.
Test 3 (GDI): Use of GetCharABCWidthsFloat
Attempted to create a GDI font as close as possible to the GDI+ font in the previous tests. Unfortunately, this third test shows results which do not match the previous results at all.

PBDOM : Exporting to XML file gives a single line

I've been starting developing with PowerBuilder 12.5 a few weeks ago. I had to write some XML files, so I got familiar with the PBDOM library.
I can build a lot of different things, it's very nice, but one thing still bothers me :
In the output file, the whole XML is written on a single line.
I use the SaveDocument function.
For example, here is some code :

With the notepad++ XML tools plugin, I can use the "pretty print" function to get this nice representation. But I would like my file to be formatted this way from the beginning. I noticed that the "line ending" was set to UNIX format (indicator on bottom right of the window), but I'm working on Windows. When I use the menu to convert it to Windows format (CR+LF), it changes this indicator, but the code stays on one single line.
Is there a way to tell PBDOM to export the XML file with a nice output ?

- Opening the XML file with Internet Explorer or Google Chrome gives me a nice vizualisation, with indentation, line breaks...
- Adding a <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?> does not help (I've been doing it while exporting some more complex files, but I still get the output on one line...)

Ai-cs6 How Do I trace a hand drawn sketch to a single line vector outline?

So I am basically a brand new user to ai-cs6 and have been working on a project for a friend. I've drawn up the basic components of the logo she wants, all separate individual pieces. My intention is/was to trace in each piece, and scale, rotate, and clean them up according to how the final piece should look. Where I'm running into trouble is that the sketches are not point perfect, meaning there's some shading in the hand drawns, and the lines are rough in areas. I'm trying to avoid redrawing the pieces because we both are really happy with where they're at. What I'd like to do with ai-cs6 and I'm hoping this community of creative individuals can help is to trace very simply a one line vector of the outline of the image. So instead of creating a piece that has stroke straight from the scanned in artwork, I get a single line, with multiple points, that flows the simple shape of the piece. From there it seems it would be pretty simple to just increase the stroke weight and modify the style of line to make it look how we would like. All I've succesfully been able to do so far, with the help of some videos and google searching, is to get a traced image that's basically an outline of the sketch. This is o.k. except that since the sketch has some rough line sections ai-cs6 is adding either a lot of detail and making it look pretty rough, or it's missing entire sections and leaving them blank. Any insight and help into getting this figured would be great, I'm gonna roll with what image trace is giving me so I can give her an image of the logo today, but hoping that I can clean it up and get closer to a finished product by next week. Thank you very much I'm grateful that there are discussion forums like this out there to help users of all skill level continue flowing and working with these awesome adobe products.

What you're talking about is generically called autotracing in centerline mode. Most autotrace programs can either try to trace all the way around the areas of dark pixels (outline tracing), or try to trace along the middles of areas of dark pixels (centerline tracing).
In Illustrator's autotrace settings, for centerline mode, you turn off the tracing of outlines (fills) and turn on the tracing of centerlines (strokes). That's the basic setting. From there, you try to adjust the various threshold settings to get as close to what you want as you can.
When Illustrator's autotrace feature is set to try to trace centerlines, it also tries to set the vector path stroke weights to approximate the thicknesses of what it interprets as a stroke. So after the autotracing is done, you can expand it and then globally set the stroke weight to a uniform value.
Beyond that, no one can really advise you more specifically without seeing the specific image involved. Every image is different.
Generally speaking, autotracing is crap. It's an amateurish workaround to avoid doing what should really be done: Trace the paths manually with the drawing tools.

Images in Multicolumn Listbox doesn't work as expected

In the attached example, the symbols are getting displayed in the correct order but missing the symbol for the first row. I can manually select the symbol but by default only the 2nd symbol from the provided array list appear.
Any idea what's the issue?
How to display correct symbol?

It seems that index 0 is reserved for the empty symbol, no matter what custom symbol you provided. Adding one image in front before setting symbols array and incrementing ItemSyms indexes solves this problem. However, I can't find any information about this in documentation, which would be nice

Add text to specified index in multicolumn listbox

Hi!
I have smal problem with multicolumn listbox. My application should
create list of values where user can increase and decrease values of 1
or more tester at same time.
e.g when user gives for tester 1 values 1 - 5, my vi creates list where values are displayd like this:

4
5
after that user gives for tester 2 values 5-1 and my vi creates list where values are displayd like this:
1
5
2
4
3
3
4
2
5
1
etc.
First I planned use insert into array function where for 1:st tester
row index would be 0,1,2,... and for 2:nd tester row index would be
1,3,5,... etc. One problem in this solution is that if tester 2 have
more values than tester 1, there will be left empty rows between
values. I planned use string replace to solve that problem, but then I
noticed antoher nasty feature of multicolumn listbox.
More serious problem with this structure is, that if tester 2 have more
values than tester 1, multicolumn listbox shows only same amount of
values than what tester 1 have and rest of values are lost in
kyberspace, because in multicolumn listbox values can be added only
places where already are values or to last row +1. Do anyone have any
ideas how to prevent this or how I should build my VI so I could create
test list for testers?

anyhow, do look this vi i have attached. This also takes care of extra elements in the larger array and appends them into the interleaved list box entry.
