Adding audio (music)to my project

I am trying to create a highlight video of all my sons football games. After spending hours learning ( new user for PE) I finally figured out editing out my highlights , it was much easier placing my clips in the timeline. I did not figure this out until half way through my project. I am all finished with my 10 minute video and unlinked the video from the audio. After reading some of the comments in the forum I might have a problem adding music into my project. The first part all my clips are in different tracks and the 2nd half of my video are in 1 track. Before I spend many hours again learning from my mistakes am Igoingto have problems adding one or two song to this video. If I am, what is the easiest way to solve this problem. Please any help is appreciated!!

No need to solve it. It's not a problem having your clips on whatever tracks you want, as long as it looks good to you on playback.

  • Adding audio/Music is this a glitch?

When you have laid down the audio tracks and then go back to add additional audio, i find that it pushes any music that has been laid down forward that same amount as was added, thus setting everything from that point off on the music tracks line? is this a glitch? is there a resolve to this? i find this happens in imovie as well. . .you've got everything set perfectly to the nth and then you realize you forgot to add a small music track and you go back in and it sets the timing off the whole thing. . .any help with this one?

Nope. Not a glitch. It sounds like you're doing an INSERT edit when you should be doing an OVERWRITE edit.

  • Adding audio / music then saving file as pdf

I produce a monthly magazine using pages. Once done I save the file as a PDF.
I woud like to add a audio file or music file to pages then save it as a PDF and send it out.
Is there a way of doing this?
I know you can drag and drop a audio file onto the page but it disappears when you save it as a PDF and I do need the PDF format.
    Any help?
    Thanks!

You need to add all media files into the pdf using Adobe Acrobat Pro. Pages won't include them.
There may also be 3rd party apps and websites that do the same task.

  • Pointer when adding audio to clip

When adding audio/music to a clip (not background) it sits below the clip with a small arrow/pointer pointing to the clip. What does that pointer indicate? Why does it move? Can someone point me to resourcs that explain that in detail?
    Thanks

I think you are right that the marker "stays". I don't have any special insight to how this was coded by Apple, but it appears to me that you initially attach the audio to a certain frame in a certain clip. Later you can drag the audio forward or backward, and it may remain attached to the initial frame, but be given an offset. For example, the audio is attached to frame five of clip three, but the audio actually begins at -30 or 30 frames to the left of the anchor frame.
I think if you experimented with it, you might find that if you delete the clip with the anchor frame, the audio is deleted, too, but I don't have time to test this right now.

  • I added background music to the video clip, but I only hear noise, no video clip audio or the background music audio

I added background music to the video clip in iMovie, the playback runs ok on the right corner preview screen, if I share it to movie clip or itunes or theather, I only hear noise, no video clip audio or the music audio
If I don't put additional audio to the clip. audio effect or music background, the video plays normally
I detached the audio from the video clip and deleted it, that way it was possible to listen to the music background and see the actual video clip, but no audio from the video clip.
    How can I have both?

    Hi
    My first thought is -
Where are the original Audio file ?
If it was on an Audio-CD then the CD is Ejected and one tries to play the movie - it can not find it = Silence.
You are using an Non-Destructive Video editor - meaning that You have raw material - Video, Audio and photos but no Movie in Project - only a text document directing How You want it to be played. So if Audio is not where it was when this document were created - iMovie can not find it and e.g. audio goes silent.
    Yours thinking - Bengt W

I added music to a project in iMovies. I wanted to delete the music, but could not figure out how. I also had two songs playing at same time. How do I delete music in project and how do I prevent two song playing at same time?

Select your Music Track so that a yellow border is around it. Then hit the Delete Key. Alternatively, hit EDIT/DELETE SELECTION.

  • I created my first movie using one long video (all photos) clip created in Keynote and imported to Imovie.  I added many music clips, some overlapping. I now want to lay down a new updated video clip, eliminate the original but retain the audio. Can I?

I created my first movie using one long video (a montage of photos) clip created in Keynote and imported to Imovie.  I added many music clips, some overlapping. I now want to lay down a new updated video clip, eliminate the original video, but retain the audio. Can I?  And if so, how.  I cant seem to
find the info anywhere in help.

I would suggest that you go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure that Advanced Tools are enabled.
Then, you can drag your new video clip on top of your old clip and a popup menu should appear. Choose REPLACE.

  • How can I position my added audio track?

    Hi all,
I need to have a delayed start for my added audio track.
The music should only start 30 seconds after the movie starts.
I tried to position it manually to a second movie sequence but it doesn't seem to work... it will only place itself at the beginning.
    If anybody has clue?
    Thanks in advance.

Apple have made background music rather simple in iMovie.
You are allowed only one track, and it just starts at the top.
I have found the only way to do this is to create multiple projects that later are assembled together as a whole.
Not the nicest solution, but it works.
    Duplicate the project,
then delete the 30 seconds you want music free, and add the music track,
save this new video out to the camera roll.
Open the origonal project, delete the bit you just added music to, and insert the other video you just made.
This way you can have multiple music tracks too .
I tend to edit the whole video, and then break it into parts to add music and adjust the edits.
Then assemble all the parts again for a final output.
This is reasonably quick for small home movies.
    I realise that everytime you save to camera roll you lose quality of video;
but it is minimal and I also tend to archive out the iMovie Projects just in case I want to edit again later.
I tend to use 'Splice' or 'Voddio' if I want to edit more complex stuff and retain quality.

  • Background audio not adjusting after project is paused when published to Flash. Any suggestions?

    Hello,
    I'm working with:
    Captivate 6
    Mac OS X 10.8.2
Flash Player is updated to most recent version
My project contains background audio music set to adjust to slide audio. When I publish to Flash the background audio adjusts appropriately until I pause the video and then resume. Once the video resumes the background audio no longer adjusts to slide audio. So basically anytime a learner pauses the video and then resumes the background audio drowns the slide audio out. I've tried this with multiple projects and get the same result.
When I publish in HTML5 it works fine. But I cannot use HTML5 because my project contains necessary rollover objects and captions, slide transitions, text animations, and other effects that HTML5 does not support.
I've to remove and re-add the background audio, uninstall and reinstall Captivate, adjust the background and slide volume levels, uncheck loop audio, and pretty much any audio settings and publish settings I can think of.
Can someone else with the same OS and Captivate version try and see if they encounter the same problem when publishing to Flash?
Or does anyone have a solution/workaround?
    Thank You!

    Hi folks
Sorry, I don't have a fix to offer. Only an observation. I'm rather surprised to see this many folks actually USING background audio. I say that, because I have facilitated hundreds of Captivate classes over the years. And there are lots of folks with Instructional Design background that attend. And in so many of the classes, when we reach the audio section and we cover how to use Background Audio, the same comment is made.
The comment is that generally speaking, it is their opinion that from an Instructional Design standpoint, background music is a "no no" and should be avoided because it detracts from the learning objective.
Perhaps the link below will help.

  • Why is the audio on my finalized project different than when I'm editing it?

Why is the audio on my finalized project louder than the when I watch it on the editing screen? The background music doesn't turn down when I watch the final product and I cannot hear the clip, but on the small/edit screen it works perfectly.

Have you already exported it and is it there where it messes up? If you are just clicking the button that makes the video full-screen in iMovie, that's your problem. For some reason, many people have movie glitches when they do that, like the video pausing for no reason, loss of sound, and other glitches. Just export it and it will most likely work.

  • Ducking doesn't work on added audio track

I have an iMovie 09 video clip of people dancing to music in the background.  I attached a separate audio clip of music to the video (it appears in green beneath the video).
At a certain point in the video, I want to fade the added music clip so you can hear what's going on in the video.  So I went to "Audio Adjustments" on the video clip and checked the Ducking box to that the music on the added audio clip would fade at that certain point.
But it doesn't fade at all.   How do I fix this?  Thanks.

You should be able to trim expanded audio in previous versions, also.  Then you do trim, the audio will only turn dark, not get physically shorter, when you Expand Audio Components.  When you Expand Audio, it will physically change the length of the audio section.  One thing to remember is that when you Expand Audio/Video, the whole clip is selected by default, click on the head or tail of the audio first.  If it is red, you can not expand it out, but can trim it in.
Tom is correct about ROLL edits, they only work in FCPX 10.1 and later.  Only works with clips in a Storyline.  Only work with audio that has enough Handles to accoedate the Roll edit.

  • Inserting music to a project without

inserting music without iTunes library cause i don't use iTunes on this MacBook Pro.
    Thanks in advance.

When I first attempted to do that it wouldn't take. I then seen a way to add the folder which I will add all music for keynote projects. From the finder I dragged my muic folder:
    1. Finder > Music Folder > Media > Audio
    2. Inspector > Document > Audio > File from Media
I made an intro if you would like to check it out here, LMK what you think.
    Thanks again for your help

  • When adding audio to my webpage do I have to add a photo as well?

    Hello,
I just set up my website using iweb and it was really fun and easy. I added an audio file to one of my pages and it required me to add a photo or it wouldn't add the song.
    Can this be changed?
    Thanks, Chad
    Powerbook G4 1.5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

A clip from the help file:
    To add audio:
In the site organizer, select the webpage you want to add the audio to.
    Do one of the following:
To add a single audio file, drag it to the image placeholder on a webpage or to the webpage canvas. If you drag the audio file to the image placeholder on a blog (the Blog or Podcast template), iWeb creates a podcast. (See the podcast topics below.)
To add more than one audio file, drag them to the webpage canvas. (Select more than one file at a time by Command-clicking.)
To add links to the songs in the iTunes Music Store (not the audio files themselves), drag a playlist (from the Media Browser or iTunes) or a song from the iTunes Music Store to the webpage canvas.
If you added audio files (not links), you can drag a graphics file to the placeholder above each song's audio controls. Or you can create a text box with a solid color fill to put over the placeholder. You can resize the graphic and the audio controls by dragging the handles.

  • How do I delete added audio?

Is there a way to remove/delete added audio to a project that has already been sent to media browser?

If you mean in an iMovie file then no you can't do that in iDVD.
You would need to go back to the Movie in iMovie remove / add the audio and reshare the movie to iDVD.
