Adding channels to Freeview

How do I add channels to Freeview? I'd like to add a couple of kids channels for my son, Boomerang and Cartoon Network mainly. Is this possible as I can't find anything on the website.
Cheers

You can get extra channels on Freeview by paying Top Up TV (http://www.topuptv.com). Only three problems. It won't work on the BT Vision service. It doesn't offer the channels you're looking for. It looks to be so expensive that you may as well look up at the Sky.
I suppose the fact that it's still there means some people must find a use for it.

  • Adding channels

Can you please add the Comcast Network channel back into the lineup in addition to the existing Comcast SportsNet?

What area do you live in? In the Philly area, TCN, channel 99, is still there. it hasn't been removed.

  • Regular freeview channels have disappeared

    Hi there,
After not watching TV for a few days, I switched on to find all of the regular freeview channels have dissappared.  All that remain are the 'On Demand'/pay per view opitions.  Three attempts at adding channels the obvious way have found a total of 0.  I have restarted my router and repeated the process - no luck.  Can anyone help?
    Solved!

Def an aerial issue, removing the lead from BTV box and rescanning after tweaking aerial lead a wee bit once in helped. BT came out and they also twisted the aerial lead around and it picked up channels again. BT man said the BTV boxes very sensitive to aerial connections. Hope this helps anyone else who finds themselves in this predicament. Thank you guilbo and pottyperson for your replies

  • Freeview channel 112 - Boxing

So this streaming channel for Freeview HD boxes, that we can't get in BT Vision, is showing the boxing tonight.
The fight is also available on the Boxnation website, but this channel (112) also streams their broadcasts online at: http://sportstonightlive.com/index.html most of the time is appears to be a televised version of TalkSport but it is one of the few sites to have enabled 'Airplay' so any Apple TV owners can stream it onto that. (Obviously iPad2 and iPhone 4S owners can Mirror everything, the jammy gets)

Oh, I've heard about this service.
And tonight the boxing will be presented by Richard Keys. So it must be good.
In of course, a non-sexist, non-dinosaur presenter kind of way.

  • Dynex DX-24L150A11 adding non-existing channels

I bought this Dynex TV (DX-24L150A11) for my mother last summer, and it's been pretty good.  She has the most basic cable plan with Comcast (gets a few unscrambled channels with no cable box).  She gets local over-the-air HD channels just fine by having the cable hooked up.  It's her first HDTV, and she's loving the clarity.
She didn't want all the channels she could receive (home shopping, foreign language, etc), so I programmed the TV with just the channels she wants so that she can channel surf with the Channel +/- buttons.
The problem is that the TV randomly adds channels with no signal to the programmed list.  No one has programmed them in.  They just appear on the list.  So now when she uses the Channel +/- buttons, she is frustrated with all of the channels that have no picture.  There are probably 10-20 channels added to the list.
I have reprogrammed this TV at least 10 times over the last few months to remove the offending channels.  I updated the firmware.  We thought it would work better, but then the channels started appearing again.
I know she doesn't know how to program the TV, so she's not adding the channels herself (and why would she?).
What's wrong with this TV's firmware?  Is there something else that could be causing this (like maybe she's hitting some weird button combination on the remote)?

I saw this a long time ago.  The User *was* adding channels unkowingly when using the channel +/- buttons.  It seemed to occur when the button was pressed repeatedly very fast succession, instead of slowly or being held down.  It seems as if the controller thought the key presses were meaning to add channels...

  • How  to use multiple channels with one remoteObject .

    hi,
I have an application which is accessed through HPPS some
times , also it can be access on server with http service.
so I want to know how to configure config files or add
runtime channels which will support either channel depending on
the server it is accessed over.
Is there any one who can help me to solve this...i need it
    soon.
    thank you...

    Hi,
Please visit the URL below for details on adding channel sets
at runtime. Add multiple channels to the channel set so that the

  • Enable user to change channels belonging to a task

Hi to all, I want to create a SubVI which enables the user to configure channels for a task. When the user finished adding channels to the task, the task should be returned to my main VI. I attached an image of the SubVi (I use the German version, but there should be no problem; if someone has a question, I'll try to translate).
Currently, I have to questions/problems which are connected to each other (in my view):
How can I find out and display the channels the user added to the task? I want to test whether everything works fine or not.
Even more important, the user should have the possibility to view which channels have been added and to rename them (and to change the scaling after I finished this feature).
Using Google, the forum search and the Labview Help did not help me to find a possibility to view which channels belong to a given task and edit them. Maybe someone of you knows something? By the way, if I have a mistake/something very ugly in my code, please tell me about it. I'm still learning LabView.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey daxel,
you can determine the channels in a task with a property node. Take a look at the attached VI, this will show you how.
If you want to know which channels are added by the user, you must know the channels before and after the edit. Than you can compare the information and find out the added channels.
I don't know if its possible to change the name of a task after you created it. If it's possible, than with a DAQmx property node like in the example.

  • Confusion over the many ways to represent channels

So I'm making progress on my task, but figuring out the intent of each of these channel representations is still throwing me for a bit of a loop.  So far I've run across...
Channel Name      : string       : "MyChannel"
    Channel Reference : string       : "[1]/MyChannel"
    Channel Number    : integer      : "1"
    Channel Object    : object
Channel List      : element list : (seems to be a generic list object)
    Channel String    : string       : "1-3,5,7-10"
There are probably more I haven't encountered yet.  VBScript's variant-with-subtype nature is making it harder for me to make sense of how everything fits together.  Frequently I *think* the arguments and data types match up only to find out the scripting engine disagrees with me.  In any case, the various channel representations combined the mix of object-oriented and functional APIs is making my head spin.  On top of that, the documentation doesn't seem to be entirely consistent with the naming conventions it uses.
Does anyone know why there are so many types of channel represenation and what they are each intended to be used for?

Thanks Walter, that does help.  After reading your post and going over the Channel Refences in the help file for the eleventh time, I think I'm understanding it better.  There are still some things that don't make sense to me.  Mostly I think they are either me just not getting it yet or documentation errors.
    Example 1
If you type the following code, (and assuming you have at least 3 channel groups)
    logfilewrite("----------")
    dim chList, chan
    set chList = data.GetChannels("[3]/*")
    logfilewrite("Count: " & chList.Count)
    set chan = chList(
the pop-up help tells you the input parameter is a reference, but finishing that line with,
    set chan = chList("[3]/[1]")
results in a type mismatch error.  Just this morning I realized it is actually displaying the help for the GetChannels method, not the ChannelList.Index method like it should.
    Example 2
The help for ChnLinGenImp says the return value "is a String variable type. Receives the name of the new channel."
    logfilewrite("----------")
    dim chans(4), i
    for i = 1 to 4
    chans(i) = ChnLinGenImp(i, 100, i, 0)
    ' chans(i) = ChnLinGen(i, i, i, 100)
    logfilewrite(chans(i))
    next
If you run this script you'll see it actually returns the channel reference, not the channel name.  The ChnLinGen function also claims to return the channel name but instead returns a reference.
    Example 3
ChnLinGen and ChnLinGenImp also differ from each other in very important way that the documentation doesn't tell users about.
    logfilewrite("----------")
    dim chans(4), groups(2), i, j
    data.Root.Clear
    for j = 1 to 2
    set groups(j) = data.Root.ChannelGroups.Add("Group" & j)
    data.Root.ChannelGroups(j).Activate
    for i = 1 to 4
    chans(i) = ChnLinGenImp(i, 100, i, 0)
    ' chans(i) = ChnLinGen(i, i, i, 100)
    logfilewrite(chans(i))
    next
    next
If you run the script like this you get the results I (and probably most people) expect.  Two groups each with 4 channels.  But when you replace ChnLinGenImp with ChnLinGen and run the script instead of adding channels to the (active) second group, it overwrites the channels in the (inactive) first group.
I had to read the two help pages pretty closely before I understood what is happening.  ChnLinGenImp will always create a new channel in the active group.  The first argument (the crypticly named "GHdChnName") is for what you want the new channel name (as opposed to channel reference) to be.  If the suggested channel name already exists it will append a number to make the new channel name unique.  ChnLinGen's first argument "specifies the result channel," meaning it will accept any argument that resolves to a single channel.  If that channel already exists, it gets overwritten.  ChnLinGen appears to interpret the first i as a channel index rather than a channel name.
Intuitively I expect these two functions to behave similarly.  I understand the ability to generate implied channels may have been added years after generating real channels and it may not have been possible to design the ChnLinGenImp behavior to be the same as ChnLinGen, but they are in the same family of functions and when there are behavioral differences between similar functions those differences need to be highlighted.  Once I understood the behavior of these two functions, the documentation made more sense to me.  It did little to alert me about the differences before the fact.
Incidentally, I know I can get ChnLinGen to behave the same by simply changing the call to something like,
    chans(i) = ChnLinGen("[" & j & "]/" & i, i, i, 100)
...but the cost of working with an api isn't driven by how long it takes me to type in the correct code, it's driven by how long it takes me to figure out what the correct code should be.  And while these snippets are clearly contrived examples, I believe they illustrate the underlying problem of an inconsistent api and ambiguous (or sometimes just plain wrong) documentation.
I'm new to DIAdem and I like the customizability, but I sure hope NI can allocate sufficient resources to fix the shortcomings.

  • ADD MORE ITALIAN CHANNELS LIKE MEDIASET ITALIA!!!!!!!

Please add mediaset italia. its an italian channel that has been in the states in the past year. Comcast and dish network have it. i really like fios but i love that channel more and i might have to switch with them if you dont have it by september. You are so advanced how come you cannot get it?
    thank you!

Lets not please. It been hard enough to keep what programming that is available on.
If they brought that on, something else would have to go.
Verizon seems to have hit a wall on band width. There isn't enough to kep adding channels.

  • 6880 L2 Port-Channel

    Hi
I want to configure a port-channel with a downstream 2960x switch. The 6880 does not let me configure a L2 port-channel. On the 6880 when I configure the port-channel first, the the interfaces, during the interface configs the error states either the switchport is L2 or port-channel, or vice versa
I have managed this easily on other switches. Is there any special command on the 6880 to configure a l2 port-channel
    Attempted the following configs
    2960x
    Interface port-channel 1
    switchport mode trunk
    interface gig 1/0/28
    switchport mode trunk
    udld port aggressive
    channel-protocol lacp
    channel-group 1 mode Active
    mls qos trust dscp
    interface gig 2/0/28
    switchport mode trunk
    udld port aggressive
    channel-protocol lacp
    channel-group 1 mode Active
    mls qos trust dscp
    6880x
    interface Tengig 1/5/2
    switchport mode trunk
    channel-group 11 mode Active
******at this stage when I try to add the switchport mode trunk command as below under the interfac, the error states command rejected, either the switchport is in L3 mode and the port-channel l2 or vice versa
    interface Tengig 2/5/2
    switchport mode trunk
    channel-group 11 mode Active
    interface port-channel11
    switchport
    switchport mode trunk

    Hi,
After adding "channel-group 11 mode Active" to both ports 1/5/2 and 2/5/2.
Now go to the Portchannel interface and add the "switchport mode trunk" there.
    int po 11
    switchport mode trunk
    no sh
now "switchport mode trunk" should propagate to both physical interfaces.

  • Native Music Application Stuck on Skip

I looked for a better location to start this discussion, but I can't seem to find a place already started to discuss the native music app that comes with the iPhone.
While there are applications listed such as iTunes U, iBooks, iPhoto, etc under iOS apps, the music app is not there.
    Moving on to my predicament:
When the new ios7 came out, one feature I was excited to start playing with was the new iTunes Radio. At first it worked, I added a chanel, listened to it, thumbed up a couple songs, etc.
The next day I go to continue listening to my added channel. It will not play. Instead, it scrolls through (right to left) song name after song name, not stoping no matter what I press. I tried restarting app and phone alike. This was the first day...I gave up and tried a day later. Now it scrolls through and stops after 6 songs (as though I myself were skipping the songs and it had reached its limit.
It does this every time I add a station, and if I play a station without adding it, it plays the first song and then skips by 6 song titles incredibly fast.
I wanted to bring this up here in case it was happening to anyone else.
Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for any recomendations and/or feedback.

Thank you Rod for the clarification.
As an added note. I finally got a response from Oracle Support regarding my question and posted below:
"Yes. You can skip to section 7 not step 7
Correct one is section 7. as in Note - 417558.1 (but internal note, not published)
    It should be
If you have only migrated your existing 4i End User Layers to Discoverer 10.1.2
without patching new eex files, you can skip the remaining steps in this
section and proceed with Section 7 ( as in Note - 417558.1 )
There was a remark on the Note 313418.1 to change this.

I'm aware of that page, but there is often hundreds of other additions that are never mentioned there, or anywhere on the site at all... for example, all the smart playlists additions in (not so) recent versions were never mentioned there, nor (I think) were the addition of skip counts. There's all kinds of things apple adds into to itunes with every release - which I do appreciate... I'm just saying...
Imagine if your wife/mom/whatever called your cable company and added channels to your cable package (and paid for them herself), but never told you about it... Sure it was nice of her, but you won't ever notice, until two months later when you are flipping through channels, and you leave it on Showtime long enough to notice there's actually a picture there....

  • Add Sur Peru & Drop FYI

You guys just added some more channels to the guide to the spanish package today many of which are all from the same country even though there must be at least 50 channels from that country. Channels 1511, 1550, and 1666 just got added where they are all from mexico where the content on there is pretty much the same as all of the other channels that you have from mexico. There are other spanish speaking countries out there besides mexico with content that you can add. Canal sur peru for example is a channel that all providers have but verizon does not where it is an all peru channel 24/7. Whether a provider has sur peru or not it is a big factor as to who many spanish speaking families decide that they will go with for their services. Some other channels that can be had are peru magico, tv venezuela, htv musica and latino america tv. If your goal is to be the number one provider of mexican channels then i think that you have succeeded. Now i know that this post will be marked as a duplicate and that i will be directed to vote for it in the ideas section of this website but before someone does that please pass on the suggestion first and realize that you will be making my point for me when you mark it as a duplicate that sur peru is the most requested channel but verizon continues to not give their customers what they want plus they are adding channels that are similar to what is already on the guide. There are a lot of people who would add you as their provider if you had canal sur peru as part of your spanish package i can guarantee you that. Another thing that you should do is drop your guide provider FYI who is so incompetent that it is a joke that you guys actually pay them to make sure that your guide is up to date. There are so many things that are wrong with the guide that it is now a game of where's waldo where you have to try to figure out things on your own by trying to guess correctly when it is that a show will be on as opposed to when the guide claims that it is on.

Well said alejozurdo. Verizon needs to add peruvian content to their spanish package not only for people in the washington dc area but for everyone who has their spanish package throughout the country. It is a motivating factor for spanish speaking people as to who they will have as their tv provider whether someone has canal sur peru and peru magico. If you google "fios sur peru" or "fios peru magico" you will see that a lot of people have gone online to see whether verizon has sur peru or peru magico before they choose a tv provider. The demographics of the country have changed where a company has to provide people with the things that they are asking for and if they do not someone else will. Verizon just sent out a huge press release where they boasted about how they are the number 1 tv provider in america of spanish programming which is odd since their content in the spanish package sure does not reflect the diversity of the spanish speaking community. Verizon has canal sur but that is not enough for people who want peruvian programming as there are only a few shows there. When comcast, cablevision, time warner and other tv providers were offered both canal sur along with canal sur peru they all jumped at the opportunity to add them because they know how huge a market/audience there is for peruvian content.
